We've stayed 8 nights. The room and entire hotel is in need of deep cleaning. This is beyond of what a housekeeper can do. You can see dirt or stains on the walls, around air conditioner frame, on the radiator, in the elevator. The bathroom had a sewage smell that they try to disguise by turning the air conditioner on to freezing cold and leaving the door open to the room. Once you shut the bathroom door the smell was quite strong. It is not a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was great. the staff was helpful. Location is OK, although I would not say Thiers Avenue seems very safe in the evening. It is close to Nice-Ville train station and Alsace-Lorraine tram stop. Nice and surroundings are beautiful.

I booked this hotel through Expedia and was immediately disappointed by the room. It was extremely small, had an unpleasant view, and the sink was so tiny that washing your face meant splashing water all over the floor. I honestly hated the room and was ready to contact Expedia and leave on my first day.

What made me stay was the front desk team. The reception staff were outstanding—professional, polite, and truly committed to great customer service. Their attitude completely changed my experience, and for that alone, I decided to stay.

Overall, I wont book this room ever again.but the staff were the saving grace of this hotel.

We stayed here for the Monaco Grand Prix; there weren’t many hotel options left within our budget and it was sad a bit sad to overpay for this hotel due to the event (I understand price gouging so it is what it is). The hotel was less than 5 minute walk to train station which was very convenient. It was also an easy walk to the main square/shops (about 12-15 mins, 20 mins to the beach promenade). The staff was helpful; they answered all our questions and greeted us with a welcome soft drink. They stored our luggage for us as the room wasn’t ready when we arrived. They provide coffee and filtered water station in lobby which was also helpful. The rooms are small and you can hear everything through the walls. There were very rude guests during our stay that were inconsiderate and making so much noise at 2 in the morning in the hallway. The shower was very small as well; if you are bigger person (tall or muscular) it is difficult to shower. Overall, it was decent.. just a place to sleep in a convenient location for a sporting event.

Our stay was tainted by our welcome , where there was a mix up with our booking including breakfast and how it was dealt with on our arrival.
This took two lengthy calls to Expedia and speaking to the manager by chance there on our second day when I went to question details on the website and our booking.

Breakfast was okay- continental with some bacon and scrambled eggs. Note- croissants , bacon and scrambled egg’s not always cooked properly.

Decor throughout was nice, having hot drinks and cold water available was a really nice touch.

Good location for the train station and close to lots of restaurants.

Room cleaning was adequate for a few nights stay, but fresh mugs/ glasses weren’t provided. If clean mugs/ glasses weren’t freely available downstairs this wouldn’t have been satisfactory.

The only thing I would say is that the bed and pillows were not comfortable. We booked a queen bed room and you could tell that it was 2 single beds pushed together. You could hear every step from people above you as the floors were not that sound proofed. Apart from that, it was a lovely hotel!

Staff was very helpful, which met my needs a few times. Great location near the train station (5 minute walk). But because of it, street noise from Avenue Thiers may be loud for some if your room faces that direction. It is close to eateries and convenience stores however. Room was comfortable and immaculate. Main sightsee areas to the south and west however takes 15-20 minutes on foot, but it's fun to see the neighborhood and architecture. Definitely a good stay.

The property condition was average. More than average was the kindness of the ones I met at the reception in the night shift and the day shift. They did not rush you and the gentleman showed me how to open the door with the wifi card. He was kind. It was my first night of my European tour, and most things were new to me since my last one in 2004, an organized tour with a friend and with a big group.
The next morning, I had breakfast and it was good: the egg and the potato round pieces, and juices of oranges and grapefruit, and coffee, coissant and bread. The woman desk manager was friendly and told me about her family. It was good to know because I could relate where they originally came from. Overall, I enjoyed my stay because of the kindness and friendliness of the hotel staff.

Very convenient to the train station which was my purpose in staying here. The crowd is not touristy around here as a result. Found that I was able to take the lift up rather quickly. I ended up taking the stairs down often due to time. The sounds echo throughout which challenged and early bedtime. The water pressure was perfect and the staff was kind.

Stayed here for one night during my time in Nice. Check in was pleasant and the hotel was quite chic and fairly priced. Around 630am the morning after my check in, the room began strongly smelling of urine. After letting the staff know, they said they couldn’t have someone check it until after I had checked out. They also denied my request to be put into another room. Needless to say I had a rude awakening and will not be staying here again. I urge fellow travelers to avoid it as well, despite the lucrative price point.

We used Lime bikes to get everywhere, which was convenient that two parking locations were within two blocks of the hotel. Despite the hotel being right across the street from the train station, I found it to be a really quiet neighborhood and place to rest. Sure, you can hear the trains but not so loud that we couldn’t sleep. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and kind. They had beach towels, umbrellas and chairs for guest use, which we certainly appreciated so we didn’t have to buy new or travel with it. There’s one tiny elevator, so had to make a few trips up/down with bags and also wait a few mins to call the elevator to your floor, but it wasn’t too inconvenient (it’s an incredibly old building after all). The lobby had chilled water and sparkling water on tap, which was so nice, too. The room was mostly clean but the bathroom had mold in most of the corners. It was on the grout, mainly, but didn’t feel the cleanest for our stay. The beds were really firm, which will be great for those who like that. Our tv remote didn’t work, but we didn’t mind b/c we were out all day anyway and didn’t bother to ask for a fix. The fridge is very small, so just be mindful of this if bringing food back to the room (it didn’t fit a small pizza box). The hotel is right across from a public parking structure, which was SO convenient!

Staff were very helpful, the room was nice, the breakfast was great (purchased on the morning for 10 EUR each).

We did however find that the air-conditioning didn't work particularly well. In late spring / mid-May when the maximum daily temperatures were 20°C, we had the air-conditioning on \"full\" overnight but still found ourselves waking up during the night sweating and dehydrated.

We loved our stay here for a number of reasons but some highlights were the lovely service and helpful staff, the complimentary coffee machine and filtered water which you could help yourself to at anytime and the afternoon snacks.
We loved our stay so much and Nice itself that we ended up staying longer.
The rooms varied in size but were fine for a short stay. They were also clean.

the hotel is nicely designed and colorfully decorated - its a nice change from boring beige walls! unlimited coffee, tea and water in reception area was awesome. the room was spacious, has everything you need, comfortable, clean etc. there is a lift but its really small as it is an older building so if you have lots of luggage or travelling in a group, you may have to go up/down a few times to get your stuff to the room! nevertheless, this is a minor setback. it was a lovely and memorable stay here. highly recommend it. great value, reasonable price. book now!

Where do I start. If you are making trips to the nearby cities the location is great. 5 min walk to the train station. Also, staff is friendly and helpful. However, I think that if you’re looking for a 4 star hotel in Nice there are better options. You are not getting what you paid for in this hotel. Rooms are noisy, you can hear everything. Unfortunately, our upgraded room (as part of the gold member program) room had a weird smell and when we looked at the shower there was mold everywhere. Very disappointing and we would not recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent price for a great hotel location - 5-minute walk from the station- and 15-minute walk to the beach and old town. Funky hotel design and room vibes. Comfortable bed but not a fan of the soft pillows. I was at first annoyed I was given a 1st floor room facing the street when I had asked for a quiet room but excellent double glazed windows meant I heard no street noise. Only noise I did hear were some guests outside their doors talking late at night and my husband told them to shush. Great Wifi. Excellent water pressure in the shower but no bath floor towel?! And the handle of our bathroom door was broken. Very friendly check-in.

The staffs were wonderful! Vera and Alim were Super! Usually hotel does not allow for early check-in but Alim helped me for early check-in after long flight from Seoul, South Korea. I was deadly tired but his help was super! And hotel offered unlimited coffees and waters in the lobby. That was one of the best part of this hotel! I could get fresh sparking water all the time and so much loved it. I will visit Villa Bougainville for sure whenever I visit Nice again! This hotel was the face of Nice for me. Thanks for every staffs!

Disaster- Avoid this place

Arrived at 9pm to be told at reception they were full. Despite having booked in advance and paid in full, we were told with a shrug that it was hotels.com's fault for overbooking.
No hotels in the area left so we had to pay 400EUR for a night in a horrible hostel.
When we told hotels.com to try and get our money back they said they would contact Villa Bougainville to confirm they cancelled the reservation. Apparently, the hotel denied that this happened. We only got our money back because hotels.com gave us a \"one time exception\" refund.

Villa Bouganville is nicely photographed online. Do not fall for the trendy wallpaper and decor, that is all this place has to offer. Cleanliness of hotel was disappointing and location was not ideal. This hotel I can see being well suited for young travelers on summer vacation. Not suitable for couples looking for more comfortable conditions and amenities. Also note they do not offer queen beds if you are a couple it is two two twin beds pushed together with a shared sheet. The hotel is also located next to train tracks and was often noisy at night. This might only apply to rooms located with street view. Another frustrating aspect was on multiple occasions staff would open our door after one quick knock before we could let them in. Luckily we were always fully dressed, but it was disturbing and never any reason to enter. We were confused by this. With all Nice has to offer, look elsewhere. On a positive note the reception staff was pleasant and they held our bags for several hours after check out while we explored the city more until our evening flight.

A great location in Nice. Close to railway station and main street. A good walk to the beach and esplanade . Room was very good with a street balcony. Breakfast was included, but a very poor selection and squashed into a tiny room. Actually we could not fit into the room and started our breakfast in the foyer. Not much selection for breakfast - very poor service. No parking, although we did not have a car at that stage. We picked up our hire car the next day and moved to another hotel for an extended stay.

The decor is unique. Close to the Gare de Nice, main transportation hub. No free parking so prepare to shell the cash. Skip the dry cleaning, laundry near by. Save the money. Super coffee, expresso, and hot chocolate machine. Im sure i ordered flowers but never got any for my significant other... so dodge the experience. Rent a car and venture deeper into the south of france.

Lovely Clean Friendly Hotel

This is the 2nd Happy Culture hotel we’ve stayed in and would recommend this hotel. All the staff were very helpful and it’s location was ideal for centre of Nice and the train station. Thankyou

Quirky Hotel, Great Staff

The room was reasonably big and bed comfortable. The decor was quirky and was better than your average hotel. Bathroom was on the smallish side but shower was powerful. Staff were lovely, helpful and professional. Snacks, tea, coffee and lemonade available during the day was a nice touch.
Near train station and on the main road but we had no trouble sleeping as it wasn’t that noisy and the hotel provided ear plugs for any light sleepers. Within walking distance of all the main attractions in Nice. Would stay again.

Kind staff

Very kind staff and good breakfast. But as cleaness aspect, it was not enough. The floor of the room was not clean and bed was not that much clean and comfort. Don’t know why the hotel got the 4 star grade on their wall.

The location is pretty good, although on a street with lots of other lower rated hotels that would probably give you a similar experience at less cost. The staff on the front desk were very welcoming. That said, there is maintenance currently being carried out on the interior during the day and the cleaning of rooms could be done with more efficiency. I arrived back for a snooze at 2 in the afternoon and cleaning of the five other rooms on my corridor was still going on (for two more hours). Not the worst thing in the world but not really four star either. A simple improvement would be providing guests with do not disturb signs to hang on the door so they don't have to wait for cleaners to leave before being able to relax. I didn't take the breakfast, despite intending to when I signed up. The dining area seemed very cramped, the range on offer rather limited and the price pretty high for what was on offer. Right next door there is a hotel with a much more open and inviting space to start the day. It's also owned by Happyculture and only two stars. This place is clean and a reasonable place to stay but lacking the little touches that provide a comfortable and enjoyable sense of residence.

The decor was awesome and the location was just a few blocks away from the train and bus terminal, which was perfect for traveling about town if I didn’t feel like walking, or for day trips to other towns/ countries. The WiFi was really good and the staff was friendly. They try to use green practices with towel usage and refillable toiletries, which is great. The only truly negative thing I can say, and this is in a renovated but historic building...so I understand that things won’t be structurally perfect, but the paint was peeling on the ceiling of the bathroom over the shower, and I’m pretty sure it was exposing some mold. I’m sure that will be addressed, and I would definitely stay there again.

Room was clean and spacious and staff were very polite. Excellent location for the railway station but that does mean some noise. 5 min walk to tram stop to seafront. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby

I was called “ just another white boy” by clerk

I thought at first that this would be a decent stay, until I heard the clerk refer to me as “ just another white boy” on the telephone. Then from my window, I could see people urinating on the sidewalk, in the daylight. I believe breakfast was 12 euros and I chose other options.

great hotel in Nice!

I was in Nice on a girls trip with some friends, and we originally had booked one night at the hotel. But we loved it so much we decided to stay an extra night. Everyone was friendly, great breakfast in the morning, close parking, and easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go in Nice! I definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Nice. It’s too bad that this brand of hotels only exists in France, they should bring it over to the states.

It is conveniently located next to the train station Gare Nice Ville. The room is a bit small and the default toiletries are limited (no toothbrush and shaver). The service was good.
