We recently wrapped up a 2 nights stay at the Wellington Blue Orchid. We had a wonderful experience from check in until check out. The hotel was clean, quiet, and in a great location. The metro was a brief 10 minute walk and there were plenty of restaurants in walking distance. We would 100% recommend and would stay again.

The room was clean and well appointed. We were directed to the wrong room initially-once the room number transposition was addressed, we arrived at our room. There was an issue with a lack of heat in the room and, once notified, hotel staff brought a space heater to the room. The shower floor was very slippery and should have had a bath mat but one was provided once requested.

The hotel’s location was excellent and very close to the train station. The neighbourhood was pleasant as well, with good restaurants and some shops nearby. The staff were very friendly, and the service at the bar was great. The room itself was decent and matched the description on the website. However, it is noticeable that the interior of the hotel is showing its age and would benefit from some updates.

The people at reception were terrible. 5 Rooms booked in my name as that is the only way you would accept my credit card. I went to reception last week to give the names of all my guests ,dates etc. every guest was sent your confirmation. Then two of the guests arrived directly from Australia and after a long flight were left standing in reception,refused admission to the room and I had to then email to give permission then once again emailed with details of all the rooms and all the guests, arrivals etc. everyone had difficulty checking in and the last couple to check in were not allowed to have a room until they paid - for a room I had already paid for. Absolute disgrace

It feels like it's being run by an entire crew of staff who have never done this job before. The restaurant was closed for a private function, which left only the bar and you have.The bar is two tables. At best, I can call it a joke. Television service was down and they couldn't fix it.Two nights in a row.
The finishes are fabulous.It presents well, but overall it's a terrible design that was not thought out properly.And the rooms are entirely too small.For what they're trying to squeeze into them. Having to travel down a flight of stairs, then up a flight of stairs.Just to get to an elevator to get me to the second floor is ridiculous.

I originally reserved family room and then I upgraded to 1 bedroom apartment which I thought would have more room it was very small , located in basement and was musky smellingI went back to be moved to family room which was also very small . Some of staff were good but others didn’t make me feel welcomed . My next visit to London I wouldn’t chose to stay at the Wellington

I almost cancelled our booking after reading some mixed reviews online. Im so glad i didnt. The hotel is in an excellent quiet location, within a 5-10 minute walk from Westminster Abbey and close to Victoria station. The layout of the hotel is a bit different but thats also due to the age of the property. We had a deluxe king room which wed chosen as the queen rooms look very small and this was spacious and lovely. The bathrooms on the small size and no fan but towels replaced daily during our stay as well as bottled water. The fridge is a great addition. The bed is 2 singles together, we didnt find it a big ossue but some might. We ate at the Tiffin Tree which is an indian restaurant linked to the hotel and the food was excellent and well priced. Id absolutely stay again and would recommend to others.

Nice enough, cheapest option but no facilities... Would've got 5 stars but staff at the bar tried to charge me a service charge when I was going to take my own food up to the room... I asked why it was on there and rather than saying it's discretionary and he'll take it off he started trying to say why I need to pay it... A manager of staff came over and corrected it but that awkward experience ruined my stay. The staff need better training, also service charges should be at the explicit requests of the guest not assumed . This is not America, we have a minimum wage that the USA does not, this whole new culture is ridiculous and puts me off staying again

The beds are made of cement blocks. I'm not sure where you can even find a bed that hard and uncomfortable but they did it. Worst bed I've ever slept on and this hotel cost me $300 a night. Stay elsewhere

A nice location and very convenient for our requirements. Hotel is comfortable and well maintained. Two negatives from our stay. The bar is a very poor place to eat as the tables are very low and the seats are easy chair style so eating a meal is uncomfortable and awkward. Also our food took 45 minutes to reach us. The second thing is that the coffee offered at breakfast is appallingly bad. It is filter coffee in a thermos jug so not fresh but more importantly it is weak and tasteless. We were ordering espressos instead and were charged extra for these. This is a shame because the rest of the breakfast buffet is good. Even so, pretty good value and we would consider staying there again.

Hotel is very nice and location was great. It was very quiet. Staff was interesting - they were always present at the front but I wasn’t sure if they knew anything. We asked for suggestions on transportation and they said it looked like we had it figured out already. They weren’t super enthusiastic about helping but spoke kindly when we approached, just odd. We never saw the restaurant or bars open and it’s a bit of a maze to find your room.

This was a disappointing stay. Booked a single room. This room was so small, I couldn't open my luggage. The bed was very uncomfortable - literally too small to sleep in, and I'm not a big person. The bathroom was so small I could barely take a shower. I have to flag a major warning here, this was not a normal hotel experience for London at all. Note I have stayed here previously in a 'suite / apartment' and it was ok - the location is convenient. I already have another booking paid for at this hotel in a few days' time and I'm terrified - may just forget the money I paid and book something else, this was that bad. Also, on this occasion, there was a long waiting time for check-in - around 20 minutes. One member of staff and a line of people waiting from the reception desk to the front door. Overall this was a very very bad experience.

Nice hotel in an upscale, quiet neighborhood

Really nice hotel, very close to Buckingham Palace and a fairly short walk from Parliament. Hotel staff were very attentive and helpful throughout our stay. There were a few great restaurants close by, along with a few good pubs. The room was expectedly small - in hindsight, should have picked a bigger room considering how much luggage we had. The area was a little quiet for us - but if you want to stay in a neighborhood that’s close to attractions and quiet, it will be perfect for you!

This was the first time we have stayed in a hotel on the Westminster side of the city & I am glad we chose the Wellington. The hotel is in a relatively peaceful setting just off Vauxhall Bridge road & a short walk from Victoria tube station. It’s also only a short walk to Westminster & all the attractions around that area of the city. The hotel itself was lovely & clean with great air conditioning in the room, toiletries in the bathroom & tea / coffee making facilities. There is also a fridge available if you want to bring your own drinks in from a local store. We had one evening meal at the hotel & sat outside as the restaurant area was closed. The food was lovely & reasonably priced compared to other eateries in the area & the weather was kind so we didn’t mind eating al fresco. All in all a great stay in a lovely area.

Good service from staff, especially housekeeping.

Complimentary newspapers (London and New York) were a plus.

The check was easy, the hotel was a bit like a maize as our room was in the other side of the building. We had to go down corridors, down steps up steps and then the lift. The rooms was a good size but a bit dated with black skirtings, doors and furniture. We went outside to have a drink and was totally ignored by the waitress who came out so we left and went somewhere else. A little disappointed as the pictures showed a very lovely place.

Poor value for money. This is a very nice building located in a beautiful area of Westminster. Unfortunately, the hotel lets the building down. Terrible check-in process, getting people to sign in on tablets on their own. Slowed the whole process down, don’t you employ staff to do that? Our room was terrible, not what we asked for. We had to be moved for a second night. In fairness they accommodated that well, but the so-called family room is a joke. Just a single room with two double beds crammed in. Air-conditioning didn’t work so we were four people crammed in a tiny room - we couldn’t sleep all night with the heat and air quality. Plugs in the sinks didn’t work. Room service was poor and under prepared. I like being in a super eight in Wisconsin.

For what we paid this place was completely under value I was expecting a really high-end quaint hotel value. Westminster. We got a lovely building, but not much else.

I’d love to say there are better options in the area, but everything is a rip off in downtown London. But get ripped off somewhere else. This place is worth your money.

Beautiful and clean hotel though could use a microwave and a bigger fridge in the room.
All hotels in UK turn of AC at night which was a bummer but the weather wasnt too bad so was bearable.
There is no free breakfast or parking at this hotel
It is in walking distance of Victoria station, Westminster abbey and buckingham palace. Train, tubes and buses were easily available near the location

Excellent location for visiting Buckingham Palace and Changing of the Guard ceremony. Carpet didn’t look like it was clean after requesting room cleaning each day. Room service was slow and staff forgot orders by telephone. The desk and chair were uncomfortable because the desk was high and the chair was low. Probably suitable for someone of at least 6 foot tall. I’m 5ft 6 so too short. Definitely would recommend to friends for location but not service.

The location is wonderful, an attractive property minutes walk from Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Thames. My only complaint was going to our room A-2, there were first 12 stairs into the lobby from the street and unfortunately, another 15 or so to our lower-level room, which was extraordinarily difficult for us in being in our mid-seventies traveling with 2 grandkids with luggage and no elevator or bell man for assistance. One clerk offered help with our big bag. I wish we'd been warned of our room's terrible location, but we were on our way down with our bags and faced 3 sets of stairs and it was too late to request another room without having to move the luggage again ourselves.

To start and for the first couple of days, the air conditioning wasn’t working. I specifically went to this hotel because it offered consistent air conditioning and I was disappointed when that failed. The hotel moved me to another room and that made all the difference. I must pose the question as to why they made me suffer thru 2 days (of often dead warm air) until midnight at the end of the second day of my stay. And I was reprimanded and told I couldn’t eat or drink any outside food in their garden area and that “guests must consume outside items in their rooms.” What? I consider the air conditioning hold out and the “eat in your room” comment to approach the level of hospitality I might receive at a 1-Star or 2-Star hotel… not a 4-Star Blue Orchid.
I will admit that the second half of my 8 days/nights at Wellington Blue Orchid were much nicer than the first half… and I’ll also say that the front desk personnel and other staff I encountered were very professional … except of course for the manager that sent that messenger to say I’m not welcome in their garden… that was simply rude!

Chosen because it was one of the few that offered 2 separate beds in one room. Also because of the price per night.
Located at 10min walk from Palace and Westminster.
Place is extremely charming and impeccably clean.
It was the best value for London.
We loved it and would recommend it at any time!
