Based in the enchanting 18th-century building overlooking the imposing St. Olaf's Church and the remains of St Mary's Abbey, this elegant hotel is a perfect refuge for a city break, romantic gateway and a business travel.

Our 2nd stay at The Jorvik. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and spotlessly clean with an excellent shower. We chose not to have a breakfast tray as there are plenty of eating options nearby. The minibar was very well stocked.

Very lovely welcome to a historic and plush, cosy stay at Jorvik House for a post Christmas getaway. Everything fantastic, only mimor gripes that Yorks parking might be a tad cheaper, perhaps there are cheaper ones than the conveniently located Marygate car park a stones throw away.

We were even showed to our room, a nice touch. Room was very clean and the bed comfortable. A million dollar view from our room across a quiet street. Would definitely stay again.

Whilst the bathroom looked very luxurious, overnight the drain started to smell dreadfully. Only stopped by keeping the door shut. The problem could be outside because the drain(s) at entrance to the lane to private car parking also smelled bad. Staff were empathetic but could only offer a twin room on the top floor. At 85 my husband did not want to walk that far. We had to ask for more milk, coffee pods (only 1 given for 2 nights) and no biscuits even though these were available when I asked for reinforcements. The bathroom extractor fan was not working or on, and the lower shower leeks.

Jorvik House was a great stay for our overnight trip in York and was centrally located but away from the crowds of the city. The room was well appointed and quiet, and we had the best night’s sleep of our entire 3-week UK trip in the very comfortable bed!
The only fault of our stay is the lack of clarity around the parking at the property - we weren’t aware of the parking situation before we arrived and the closest car park was £25 per night.

We had a very enjoyable stay, very friendly and helpful staff and a great location close to the city centre. The only issue we had was with parking.

The location of this property is perfect right in the middle of the City. There isn't parking however there is a council car park right behind the property but this will set you back £26 for 2 nights. We decided to park around a mile away and walk in, a nice 20 minute walk. Staff there are really friendly and the property is immaculate. Just a couple small things we picked up on. We were in one of the luxury double rooms in the loft space. The room was perfect other than it had a lack of ventilation. The bathroom velux window is screwed shut. You can open the window at the front of the bedroom however after 2 hot showers and my partner using her hair dryer the room gets really warm and stuffy to the point we couldnt wait to get out of the hotel for a bit of fresh air. I can't imagine how warm it must get in summer. There is a small fan but i think allowing the velux to open in the bathroom would make a big difference. Also not wanting to sound too picky but if its being listed luxury we only got one toilet roll. So the next day I had to call reception for another. It arrived really quickly however they brought just one more. I'm not sure why the bathroom doesnt have 2 or 3 for a 2 night stay. They are the cheap toilet rolls with only a few sheets so doesnt take long to get through them! Also we had to call for more milk as they weren't replenished the next day. These are just small things and we would happily stay again

Jorvik House was really nice. The room and bathroom were very clean and in good condition. Warm welcome at reception and overall very nice place to stay for a few days. My only complaint would be that it would have been nice to have things like milk, tea, loo roll, etc replenished when empty, rather than on request.

I've visited the property multiple times and the staff are always wonderfully helpful and friendly.
The rooms are always clean, tidy and comfortable.
It's in a great location, very walkable and directly opposite the museum gardens and very close to central York but off the main road enought that there is no noise when trying to sleep (bar some late night arrivals with lead feet that only disturbed for about 30mins night 1).
The Jorvik house will always be my first and preffered choice. And as my Mam's first trip to this hotel she loved it and had the best nights sleep she's had in weeks! Looking forward to our next stay

It's in a great location, very walkable and directly opposite the museum gardens and very close to central York but off the main road enought that there is no noise when trying to sleep (bar some late night arrivals with lead feet that only disturbed for about 30mins night 1).
The Jorvik house will always be my first and preffered choice. And as my Mam's first trip to this hotel she loved it and had the best nights sleep she's had in weeks! Looking forward to our next stay

The best thing about this apartment was the washer/dryer. Nice to be able to do laundry. It is in need of serious updating. New sofa (we sank in all but one spot), new shower curtain (mold), a lamp in the kitchen as lighting is minimal, and a new mold/fungus free tea kettle. The garbage dumpsters from all apartments partially block access making it hard to park the car. Plus garbage is often strewn about. Minimum landscape/maintenance effort by front door. Best place ive stayed in a really long time. Friendly welcome and the lady was so helpful and printed some importent documents for me. Decor of the room was so nice, like staying in someones home rather than a soul less hotel. Location was absolutely perfect and i had such a nice walk to work along the river and in to town.

We couldn’t recommend this hotel enough. Me and my fiancè stayed for 2 nights in a luxury double and the room was very good with good facilities. It’s the little nice touches such as fresh milk and a hot water bottle in the room. The bed was really comfortable and the hotel is in a good location within walking distance of the main shopping area. The staff were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. We will definitely be returning.

I had a lovely stay at Jorvik House. The rooms are contemporary, very clean, and stylish. The hotel is on a quiet road directly across from the Museum Gardens, which makes access into York town centre very easy. The bathroom was small but perfect for me (solo traveller) with an amazing waterfall shower. My only criticism is that I found the bed ever so slightly lumpy in places but it didn't stop me from getting a decent night's sleep. Good quality bedding and pillows though. The minibar was a nice addition too. I had a great stay here, the staff are so, so kind and friendly. I only wish I'd booked to stay a bit longer!

We arrived much earlier than the check in time due to our trains, and the room was available so we were able to check in before midday, but even if we couldn’t, they were happy to look after the luggage. The room was spacious, comfortable, with fantastic views over the museum gardens gates with a short pleasant stroll the the minister (gardens gate shut at 6pm so it’s an extra 1-2minutes to go around). The bed was a decent size, comfortable, warm duvet, 2 pillows each side. It was a fantastic stay and would highly recommend staying here, and we will be back.

Glass door between room and bathroom gave no privacy, window in bathroom had no blind and therefore early light woke us up. Jirvik House could not have been more perfect for our trip needs. This property was adorable and the location was perfect. I would have given it 5 stars but they gave no indication of all the stairs!! My husband had just had knee surgery and we booked the studio which was on the 4th floor. The stairs were pretty steep and there wasn't a lift. When had to change rooms to the 3rd floor, of which I'm still waiting on a credit. I wish I would've known about all the stairs. With that said, the room was super comfy and the location couldn't have been better. I would recommend this place and would stay there again (just would request a room lower).
