Location excellent all within walking distance, from train station,never used the gym, stayed 2 nights went to Grand Theatre beautiful theatre.
Gorgeous city, York walls disappointing as you cant walk the whole way around there not complete and at one point we were looking how to rejoin them. Also walls have a shear drop to the side no barrier wirh areas of wall walk very narrow Another area we were walking on pavement along 4 lanes of traffic. Chester walls complete able to walk whole way around with walls either side of the path.Minster really worth a visit.
This hotel has an excellent Japanese restaurant Sora this was amazing.
Also had a brilliant saxophonist on the saturday night highly recommend will

What a smashing hotel. From start to finish our stay was so enjoyable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful both on reception and in the bar and eating areas. We booked the Club room for our stay. It was spacious with a lovely big comfortable bed and a great monsoon shower. We had breakfast included in our 2 night stay and it was absolutely worth it. Plenty to choose from and the cooked breakfast was delicious, good quality produce.
Walk out the doors and over the bridge and you're there to all the shops, bars and the wonderful York Minster.
A great hotel and we'll definitely stay here again. 10/10

First room reeked of perfume. We were provided a different room that was fine/basic if a bit dark and oddly layed out. No slippers.
Biggest complaint is that the hotel “closed” the following day at 3pm and we were not permitted to leave luggage for the day. We should have been told this in advance when we booked! Instead we had to shell out an additional 30GBP for luggage storage at the station.

nice room…only thing was one of the taps sprang a leak so rooms dressing area tops were awash with water when we returned, night porter was helpful as we had used all our towels to soak it up, very young staff on reception dismissive at best next morning…slightly annoying thing was all the guests were required to pay an additional £25 each to be able to gain access if wanted a just a drink in the sky bar before heading out, luckily we met up with friends at theirs in York to welcome in new year…as a paying/staying guest who wasn't actually eating and paying £160 plus each in roof restaurant you would still think access would be included as was main reason booked there , to have a drink before heading out …?

Always wanted to stay at Malmaison but am very disappointed now. We had very small, basic room- very dark, shabby and not very clean. So dark, couldnt see to make drinks, put on make-up etc. Beds comfy. Asked for nice view if possible but had side view of opposite building with scaffolding. Continental breakfast fabulous but cooked to order breakfast arrived cold and we had to return it.
Overall, wouldnt return as i feel it is overrated and overpriced.

Superior room was a weird layout and really quite dark, everything painted dark grey…. a bit claustrophobic wen curtains were closed. Felt like I was washing hands n face in a kitchen sink. Not much storage space …. Wardrobe was tiny. Shower was amazing and toiletries really nice. Bed was big n comfy. Staff were really lovely. Roof top bar was amazing but closed on Monday n Tuesdays even on run up to Christmas. Great location. Probs would not stay again unless better room

First time at this hotel and we loved it. Location is excellent, staff are friendly and professional, Room was spacious and with the \"Club\" room, it had all the amenities. It was very clean, and we ate in the bar which was a pleasant experience, and the cocktails were of a very good quality and reasonable. Our only issue is limited on site parking, though there is a NCP next door, queuing was long, and we did not book a breakfast but decided to have one in the morning and it is very expensive; and average.

A really noisy hotel, it’s like sleeping in a night club. Our room was above a function room, the music didn’t shut off until midnight on both nights. We had to move rooms from 119 to 510 and the noise was still terrible. A good location, and rooms are nice but not worth compromising on sleep for.

Could hear all sounds loud and quiet in the hallway. No deadbolt on door. Didn't love the layout with the shower open to the room.

The hotel and room were very nice. The reason for the low score is that I needed to book a late checkout due to a business call. It took almost a dozen calls, in advance of my stay, before I finally managed to speak to reception. I explained I need the room until 1.30. When I arrived they had only reserved the room until 12, but that was easily sorted when I checked in. The issue then came when housekeeping attempted to enter the room at 10am (thankfully prior to my meeting), then again at midday (during my meeting) but at least they knocked both time. Annoyingly, at 12.50 a male member of staff then entered my room, without knocking and stated he thought the room was vacant. As a solo female traveller, I find this completely unacceptable and totally avoidable. I should not have to lock the door in fear of staff walking in, when I have clearly stated that the room would be occupied until 1.30. Thankfully my meeting had ended and I was not changing clothes but it still left me feeling unsafe. The hotel really need to improve their communication with housekeeping staff to ensure this doesn't happen again.

Quite simply a very good hotel. Well located for rail station and then the city centre and thereabouts easily accessible on foot.

Reception was good, breakfast had a great selection of the usual stuff plus a hot food menu option. Room was well equipped and clean. Went for the club deluxe option which did not disappoint. Happy to recommend.
