Location on the south side of city center. Quiet location and easy to access. Our room was clean and well set up. It had a refrigerator and coffee/tea station. Our only negative experience was the bathroom. No proper hooks for towels and just a half shield for the shower, resulting in water all over the floor. This is a safety issue as it is very easy to slip.
The breakfast buffet was well set up with lots of tables and options to choose from.

The room was lovely and included a fridge, maybe a bottle of water and snack pack of biscuits would be a nice addition. All the staff we spoke to were accommodating and friendly. Ideally located for shops, attractions and York Barbican.
Unfortunately the cooked breakfast let it down, hash browns were soggy as were the sausage (no crisp whatsoever) bacon was dry and tough and what should have been the crispy fat was again soggy, only scrambled eggs available, even the fresh toast was not at all crisp. This is possibly one of the worst cooked breakfast I have had but there were plenty of other options to choose from.

Staff great, room not so. Having ascertained that all rooms have a shower, I was very disappointed with the shower in the room.
I have mobility issues but do not require an accessible room
The shower was 1m deep, 2m across and only had a glass screen, no door. Grab handle was on the opposite wall and not accessible for getting in or out. A simple grab handle to enable safe egress after showering is all that these showers need to make them better. Even people without mobility issues would have difficulty. My husband had to help me out.
The bed was too low. apparently some people in the past complained about them being too high so the height was reduced. Very difficult for me to get up from. All in all, I'm not impressed and will not be using your brand again.

The room was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully laid out. I stayed with my teenage daughter and was really pleased that the two single beds were actually more like small doubles, which made it extra comfortable for us both. The large walk-in shower was fantastic, and it was great that all toiletries were provided.

Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and the location couldn’t have been better — just minutes’ walk from the main attractions.

We would definitely stay here again!

Room was good, clean and new - had to move room as lots of building works on one side of the hotel. Customer service ok and we’re happy to change room, but generally wouldn’t say they went over and above. Would have been 4 star except the room wasn’t cleaned during stay and had to ask at 3pm (phone call to answerphone only from room to all depts), and when they came, they weren’t exactly wanting to be there or cleaned properly really am afraid.
Highlights are the location is fab, near everything and their fresh waffle maker is brill but need to be early to avoid long waits - buffet breakfast average too.
Would go again for location, but just expected more for a £170pn room really…

Compared to other Hampton hotels, the breakfast was quite disappointing. The bread did not taste good, and the coffee machine only dispensed hot chocolate. Overall, there were not many options to choose from, and there was very little worth eating. We had an issue with our bathroom extractor fan which was humming all night long. In fairness we told reception the next morning and maintenance came and sorted it for us quickly.
We unfortunately also had a leaky window which let in the rain.
The room was okay with a comfortable bed and decent bathroom but lacked storage space.
We did enjoy a very nice breakfast every morning and the hotel itself is very conveniently situated to the lanes and shops.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and felt we got value for money despite the issues that we had.

This is a lovely modern hotel. The decor is beautiful with really unusual lightning, chandeliers, wall colourings and pictures. It is fresh, but comfortable.

All staff were lovely, friendly and very helpful. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and shiny. The rooms are well laid out, with sufficient furniture for a comfortable stay.

Breakfast is superb. Laid out ready to help yourself to whatever you fancy, with a wide choice of food. Again the waiting staff were charming. Only slight disappointment was the poor and relatively expensive evening menu. Not sufficiently so to lose a star as there are so many places to eat in the city, but we would have preferred to eat in the hotel, as the weather was very cold.

The hotel is situated just about 5 minutes walk from where most of the attractions are situated, so perfect for exploring on foot. No need for a car.

Although it is fairly close to the station, i would recommend using a taxi when you arrive. Very reasonably priced and very pleasant, helpful drivers.

In spite of the cold we thoroughly enjoyed our break in York, and fully recommend this hotel.

Not quite 5* I'm afraid but came close. Room spotless, nice and quiet. Staff excellent, plenty of them and all very helpful. Breakfast was good, except no decaf coffee (especially in room and reception area, none provided when requested) Also quite a limited selection of spirits at the bar. Stayed here before because of it's great location. Would definitely stay here again. Thank you Hilton.

Staff were great. Bed was too low and not very comfortable, including the pillows, there were markings on the bed sheets that at first glance looked like tiny splotches of blood but was probably just mixed with other coloured fabrics. Wasn't a fan of the breakfast. Room was clean but often cold and heating wouldn't stay on. Second toilet roll in bathroom had mold on it. Other than that hotel location was convenient and the stay was okay, thank you!

Very comfortable room and the hotel is in a perfect location to explore York. The fridge in the room was a perfect addition as it meant we could bring some drinks and snacks into the room and keep these chilled. The breakfast was lovely with lots of options for everyone. Also liked being able to help yourself to tea bags/coffee when needed

The start to the stay fortunately did not set the tone!! When I had look on the map when choosing the hotel I saw there was parking adjacent to the hotel. This was far from reality!! The carpark site was under construction!
I went into the reception and 2 paper were thrust at me. These were directions to a carpark in a city I didn’t know. One also had a 20% discount. No explanation as to how to use the voucher.
Eventually we found the carpark. It was full we then had to go through a very convoluted system ( many streets were shut off, many diversions!)
once found, we realised there was no way of using the voucher as it required pre booking! The man at the carpark then gave instructions of how to get to the hotel. Streets were blocked off and it was raining.
My husband and I suffer from arthritis and found it very painful to walk what ended up being a traumatic route, dragging our cases and carrying bags.
It took a full hour from being in reception to returning to reception for a journey, we were assured, would only take “10 minutes tops”.
We arrived hot, bothered and very flustered!! Not the best way to begin a weekend away.
The receptionists basically said this happened often. We said, had we been warned, or had we had the suggestion to leave the luggage it would have been much easier.
Having said all that we did have a good stay but we feel forewarning would have been very helpful. Perhaps you could prevent further anxiety for future customers by doing so!

Once again we had a pleasant stay until our last night. We returned to our room in the afternoon to find it had not been serviced by house keeping. After reporting it to reception we were told that there would be clean towels in the room for when we returned in the evening. The next morning I had a shower and grabbed the hand towel to dry my face and was horrified after been scratched by something on the towel. On investigation I found 2 used plasters stuck to the towel. I took the towel to show reception and the lady apologised saying she would let the manager know. Nothing else was said!

Quick check in, in the room with in 5 minutes. Room was spotless and comfy. Nice to have a sofa to sit on instead of the usual one chair and the other sat on the bed during down time. Breakfast had a great variety, two notes though. Coffee and my tastes was pants and if you want to try and get a waffle then get down a few hours early as you have no chance with the kids queuing up for an age. Maybe another waffle machine would help.
