The location of the hotel and view from the room were outstanding, the room facing the York Minister in the heart of the city. The room itself was clean and decently equipped, if a little tired in places (along with the rest of the hotel). Staff were mostly very friendly. The only real let down was the valet parking which due to cars being parked in front of the hotel was unavailable to us, or if it was available we had no ideas how to access it.

For a hotel that gets so many 10/10 reviews I am at a loss to understand why it gets perfect scores unless they are fake reviews.
We stayed in room 63, a worn out room with an old bed, dirty carpet, doors patched with the wrong colour paint, fan that never switched off in the bathroom etc. It's up a narrow staircase at the back of the hotel with no lift access.
I can only conclude that the main part of the hotel has been modernized and therefore warrant full marks OR the reviews are fake. Either way, avoid.

Great location across the street from York Minster. Lots of dining options nearby. Unless you book a suite, this is a typical European- style hotel with very small rooms. Bed was not comfortable and the carpeting was dirty. Someone used a key card to open our room door while we were inside and left when we acknowledged our presence. Reported incident to front desk. Upon check out, front desk said no one from housekeeping said it was them. That is concerning. Hotel could definitely use a facelift. But then again, it’s all about location, location, location.

Hotel is in a fantastic location for the Minster and other city attractions. Our room was lovely, comfy, clean and lots of character. The only issue was the temperature and lack of air con. The hotel have kindly put one unit and a cool air blower in the room which was great during the day but too loud for sleeping so turned off at night. Slept with the windows open so sleep was disrupted due to city noise. Other than that great stay. Staff very helpful and polite.

Aircon vent pipe stuck outside through open single glazed window, not a good start, party revellers still having a blast in the street below at 3am also didnt help matters, whilst staff where working flat out reception isnt permanently staffed at certain times. We enjoyed our stay at the Dean Court hotel. The location can't be beat! Walkable to everywhere and right next to the minster. A delicious breakfast was included as well. The room was comfortable and spacious for our family of 3. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even stores our bags for part of the day. The only negative was the moisture in the bathroom. There was black mold on the ceiling in a few places.

The hotel is in a great central location for walking. I woman at the front desk was just absolutely amazing. Friendly and helpful and a great sense of humor. Her name was Bee for short. The room was nice. The interesting part was the hotel is older and is not equipped with AC. They put portable AC units in the room and vent them thru the window. They also put an oscillating fan in the room as well. I was curious as to how this was going to play out. It went great. The room stayed cold. I mean cold not cool. We stayed in the summer months. The room was spacious, and bed was comfortable. So even with the window open slightly to allow venting from the AC we didn't get any street sounds up into the room. The area is quiet at night. No issues at all and they had black out curtains as well. Side note. The elevator is super small. 1 person and maybe 2 pieces of small luggage can fit in it. I had no issue with it buy my wife didn't care for it so used the stairs. No big deal it all. I personally thought it was somewhat interesting on a good note.

The fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night while we were trying to sleep. There was no fire. I had to get dressed and go to the main desk to find out we didn’t need to evacuate. There is no A/C or climate control and the room was very hot. Location and staff were very good. The included breakfast was excellent.

Staff were wonderful, location can’t be beat. An easy walk from the train station. My only objection is that they had a portable air conditioner in the room which must have needed cleaning. I’ve been traveling for three weeks now and stayed in several different hotels in different parts of Europe. My allergies are not typically bad but the two nights in this hotel were so unpleasant. I barely slept because of congestion and sneezing. I suggest that the staff do a thorough clean of the air con filters/lines as I suspect there was mold.

Room was a brilliant size (we had 3 adults sharing 2 single beds and a sofa bed). Not at all cramped. All decoration and bathroom lovely and clean. Ample tea and voffee in room and at reception was nice touch. Good choice of hot breakfast options on the menu. Couldn't fault location. Very central but the minster bells didn't keep us awake, good soundproofing! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed in room 50 which was a lovely room but it was very cold at night. The only thing that was very annoying was the extractor fan in the bathroom it stayed on all night & was very noisy. It was meant to only come on when the light was on but obviously it was broken. We only realised this when we came back to our room late that night.

Being from out of the country, I was delighted to be welcomed so warmly and accommodated with an extra night after my last minute request. The food was excellent and it was lovely hearing the Minster chime throughout the day. Would definitely stay here again if I get to visit York again.
