I come back solely because of Sam, the wonderful concierge. Each time I arrive with my family, he makes everything easy, happy and fun. He consistently goes out of his way for us and everyone else. I wish there were more people in the world like him. The world would be a better place. The hotel is amazing and so are all the other employees. Love the location!

I had a lovely complimentary upgrade to a superior room. Just not superior enough. No nespresso machine just sachets of Nescafé and a gritty kettle. No hairdryer until I had to ask for one. No peppermint tea in the entire hotel?! The room was lovey and big, huge comfy bed but lacked important details such as decent coffee making facilities!

Room was clean and adequate for 1 night stay. Bed comfortable and large even though expecting only a double. Pillows extremely firm as over filled - would have been nice to have 1 firm and 1 soft.
Bathroom clean; however shower cubicle extremely small. I m glad we are not of a large size. The grouting needed a good clean.
An impressive building with some lovely areas; however the old rugs on the floor are extremely tired- looking! A rather tired look throughout the hotel. Staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful.

Love this hotel. Right next to the station. Staff on reception and in the breakfast room are so lovely. Breakfast was very tasty and looked freshly prepared. Plenty of choice and good value.
Room we were in was really clean and looked like it had recently been decorated. Shower was really good too.

Couple of gripes first. Why no plug sockets near the mirror? Two plug sockets were situated behind the big mirror which was nigh on impossible to get to. Had to lift the big mirror out of the way to get to it to plug my appliance. Also at £134 for a night - why only Nescafé sachets for coffee. Basic! Asked staff if they had any coffee bags - no. Was advised that Sainsbury’s was only round the corner if I needed to buy any. Room was ok, small double, bed was very comfy. Bit noisy as the bed was opposite the door, so could hear other people’s doors slamming. Didn’t wake us up though. The hotel itself is really beautiful and slap bang next to the railway station and a short walk into the city centre shops.

Ideally located next to the station and within a few minutes walk to the shops and city centre. We stayed here while going to a gig at the arena and it was about a 15 minute walk to there.

Didn’t really spend that much time in the room/hotel as we dropped our bags and headed out and then got back late, but the room had everything you’d need including nice toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, a little fridge, iron and hairdryer.

Even though we weren’t there that long, we did notice how fantastic all the staff were. So welcoming, chatty, friendly and professional.

If we’re staying in Leeds again, we’d definitely book here.

The hotel overall was really nice and aesthetically pleasing. We didn’t get to try the restaurants unfortunately, but they looked lovely. My only two complaints were 1) the room was freezing and didn’t warm up at all, even with the temperature set to the highest, and 2) our checkout experience.

We got back to the hotel very late after being out for the night (around 6am) and didn’t get to sleep until 7:30, so we missed our alarm, completely our own fault. However, a staff member knocked (the same staff member that checked me in, on my own at 5pm) and then let himself into the room before I could even get out of bed to answer. As I had checked in alone, he had no way of knowing who was inside, which made it feel very inappropriate. He could also see we hadn’t checked out yet, and I had a DND sign on the door.

He didn’t apologise either. I apologised and explained we had overslept and would be 10 minutes, but he knocked again shortly after, which was frustrating while I was rushing. When I mentioned I was tidying up, he said, “that’s what the cleaners are for.” I understand that, but there was rubbish everywhere and it was very untidy and I would never leave a room messy regardless.

I would stay here again, but staff should not enter rooms when guests haven’t checked out. It felt unprofessional, and I’ve never experienced this anywhere else.

I do not dislike pets but I do object to dogs under the tables in the restaurant. My friend is allergic and we had to move tables due to this situation arising. It’s unacceptable!
Also breakfast was served 7.30-9.30 but at 9.25 everything was being cleaned away and some guests arriving at this time were not offered specialist milks or hot food. Unacceptable really. My friend and I were in the breakfast room by 9.10am and so were well fed. However we were not allowed to take our hot drinks into the lounge and they were poured into paper cups. Not had this experience before. The rooms were very comfortable no problems at all in that respect.

The hotel had a feisty smell as soon as you entered, and permeated into the rooms.
The mirrors were dirty as were the windows.
The ‘cosy’ room was ‘small’ and toiletries are lacking.
The wind swirled around the building and through the windows, making a howling sound all night.
The fire alarm sounded at midnight and woke my partner. I was not asleep due to the noise from the windows.
The staff greet you like robots reading from a script but when the time came to leave, they did not want to hear about the quality of sleep, service or cleanliness.
As a positive, the hotel looks lovely inside and is well-maintained in the communal areas. Location great.

Everything was good. However, why on Earth are housekeeping talking very loudly to each other outside rooms at 9am and then knocking on my door at half 9 on a Saturday?! It woke me up and then meant I couldn't get back to sleep. Check out is 11am. Please tell them to keep their voices down and be more considerate. Better still: don't send them round so early!

Sorry never got the name of the lady who booked us in but she was excellent. Very friendly and helpful and this sets the stay off to a good start. Thank you!
The stay was lovely and comfortable. Been here quite a few times and will continue to do so. Just feel very welcome at the queens. Breakfast was also very nice, bit noisy due to the acoustics of the room but still very nice. Going to the room the room makeover team were also very welcoming as we walked through. Top notch hotel. The room was clean and cosy, reception staff were great, absolutely no complaints. Wasn't clear how to get in when I rocked up wasted at 4am but a kind security guy spotted me and let me in. No complaints at all. Definitely appreciated being already at the train station when I checked out. Would recommend.

There was urine on the toilet seat when I got to my room but I was simply too tired to call and do anything about it. The room itself was fine. The bed was comfy. Booked a ‘cosy room’ for NYE, it was ridiculously small. Nowhere to get ready properly, no ceiling light other than in the doorway. No phone to contact reception. The mattress was rock hard, I left with back ache the next day. Pillows not the best either. The corridors were dated. The lift didn’t seem to like floor 5 as we waited over ten minutes for it to stop on our floor and it kept going past it! We ended up carrying two suitcases down 5 floors of stairs, with many other guests doing the same. Positive was the location and friendly male receptionist on New Year’s Day.

Room was great, looked newly refurbished. Very clean and high quality finish. We had a lovely view over city square. It was freezing outside but cosy in the room. Excellent shower with plenty of hot water. Bed was amazing. So comfy. The hotel is superb, we love staying here. Staff are excellent and do everything they can to make you comfortable and welcome. The area around the hotel is safe and lots of good bars and restaurants. We ate at The Giggling Squid just up the road. The railway station is attached to the hotel but we heard no noise from anywhere despite it being New Year’s Eve.
