The breakfast was adequate. There was minimal parking- closest car park with space was 10 minute walk and nearly £30 for 24 hours. The cleanliness of the bathroom wasn’t great and smelt musty. The room had a window whereby the curtain didn’t fit the entirety of the window which overlooked the car park- this had a huge floodlight which came through the window all night. Over all not a great experience. Complained to the hotel following my stay and they refused to provide any form of refund or compensation. For £145 a night I would have expected better. I will return to York but will not return to this hotel.

Staff were courteous, room was clean, we had a noisy air con unit in the room and the draft in the window was very cold, we didn’t bother asking for change of room or complain as it wasn’t a big issue for a short stay, would return for the price and had a great stay in York.

Close to city centre- 10 minute walk to Christmas markets. Room was clean with lift access to rooms. Car park was a bit tight for parking but safe. Didn’t really have much need to engage with staff but checking in was straight forward. We didn’t have breakfast here but Finns a lovely cafe across the road.

Parking situation is atrocious. Confirmed they only have 24 spaces for over a 100 rooms. Tried to ring multiple times to get advice as to where else I can park and couldn’t get an answer. Brought this up upon check in and was dismissed in a rude manner. What happened to customer service?

No greeting on arrival, receptionist appeared disinterested. Didn’t give any information until asked, or engage in conversation. The ground floor foyer had a dreadful odour. When I spoke to a different member of staff about this he said that all of York has a drains problem. It was the only place we were aware of it, in 2 days throughout the area. The room we were allocated was extremely dark with no central light at all. There were stairs to the bathroom (?!) with no rail, that lit up as they were stepped on. V odd. The bed was comfy but there was so much noise from what sounded like the pipes/ floorboards/ a dryer and the room above, that sleep was near impossible. The conversation of the adjoining room could be heard the walls are that thin.
The only saving grace are this hotels location, the attentive staff in the breakfast room and the lovely breakfast.
However, that is not enough to coax me to stay there again.

The staff were so very helpful and obliging. Rooms were great for what we needed. One of our rooms was very cold. We did tell reception a few times. Each time they tried to remedy it but it was still very cold. The manager did give some refund. It was a very good stay and we wish that we’d found you sooner as this was probably the last time we’ll visit York for some time as this visit was for our daughter’s graduation. Many thanks for helping us to make it so memorable.

Overall stay was fine, nice room very comfortable bed - had a peaceful nights sleep both nights during our stay. The hotel has recently been renovated I think and everything was clean and tidy. However the biggest letdown was the shower. Absolutely awful water pressure. Might sound petty, but it’s enough to put me off staying at the hotel again unfortunately. For me personally there’s nothing more frustrating than going to wash my hair and finding that the shower is hopeless. Took so long trying to rinse my hair I finally gave up and stuck my head under the mixer tap on the sink - which had fantastic water pressure. So not really sure what’s going on there. Cannot say if this is the case in all of the rooms.
Breakfast was good, nice selection, with good coffee and bacon. Negatives - no fresh eggs or mushrooms which is always a shame, and no oat milk.
Location was good, if you don’t mind walking. Roughly a 10/15 minute walk in to the center. Car park was small and we ended up having to park about 7 minutes away from the hotel and paying £25 a day! Very expensive and you should take this in to account if you are booking on the bases that the hotel will have parking at a reduced rate.

There was quite a bit of dust in the room (around the table lamp and on the frame of the bed)
Lovely modern decor but could do with a hook on the back of the door or on the wall to put wet coats when the weathers not great
The room didn’t have enough tea,coffee,milk and sugar for 2 nights and one of the mugs was chipped
When we walked into area to go to our room,there was an awful musty smell in the corridor (as if someone had been smoking and tried to spray it to hide it)

Bathroom was not clean. Staff came to clean it again, when showing me what she had done to clean it, she stepped inside the shower with dirty shoes. It got cleaner, but still not as clean as I would have expected. Especially sink looked like it wasn’t properly cleaned in a long time. Not that central (not familiar in York so K did not know) and I honestly thought it was a bit expensive for what it was. Booked two rooms that were the same type and price - one was significantly bigger than the other. Breakfast was great and everyone found something they liked. Gluten free bread provided upon request, other gluten free options are out on display.

Clean room lovely designed hotel. However, tv didn’t work had to get help from reception, then the shower was cold, when tried to adjust it the knob came off in my hand, had to go reception again. Also, small window in room with internal walkway on other side and so brightly lit all night it was like daylight coming in around curtain so bright. Would not want ground floor room by choice, shame as room let hotel down

Comfy beds! Breakfast buffet has an excellent selection on offer! Staff we encountered during our 3 night stay were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Very good location. Good pub nearby. 10 minute walk to City Centre. Good breakfast and comfortable rooms. Marked down service as on our last morning we loaded our car took a walk into the City. We returned to use the toilet in our room before settling off 15 minutes before the check out time of noon. Our key cards wouldn’t work. When a staff member let us in the room was being used by other guests. The person on reception apologised and said it shouldn’t have happened. But it did.

The ONLY problem that occurred was when I contacted the hotel a few days before our stay to ask if our twin rooms could be made up as doubles. The telephone receptionist was very patronising and told me that it couldn’t be done and that I didn’t understand! When we arrived at the hotel, the staff said that this could and should have been done for us. What shame that such a difficult member of staff should let the hotel down.

We have stayed here in a few rooms previously. The place had been renovated and only reopened a few months ago. The rooms have definitely got smaller, more compact then our previous rooms, asked staff incase I was imaging it and was advised with the renovation there were more rooms on most floors so smaller rooms. It has to be admitted the hotel is a maze which makes it difficult to find rooms when first you seek them.
The car park is an asset. However it can be difficult to manoeuvrer a car and it is easy to be blocked in.
The rooms are every thing you could hope for: quiet, comfortable and clean. the choice for breakfast was all I could ask for.

Staff friendly and helpful. Only criticism is that the staff were too quick to remove any crockery at breakfast. Arrived from Glasgow on Thursday 1st time in this hotel , hotel is lovely and very clean. Was given room 311 , facing car park. Was up till after 4am with the noise from the fans outside, was awful!! Sounded like it was vibrating through the bed with the droning noise. At 7.am approx I could hear a staff member banging a room door asking for room inspection then within seconds fire alarm went off , obviously not staff members fault but they were right on whatever the problem was. Went to reception explained problem with fans or air con units whatever it is and girl said wasn't a problem, was moved to now face side street and it was silent thank god. Girl dealt with the problem swiftly and we stayed there another 2 nighta. Still gave 5 stars as was no way the hotels fault and loved our stay, would definitely return.

The hotel has recently been refurbished and was lovely and clean. Unfortunately, on the days we stayed the air conditioning had failed and it was on two of the hottest days reaching temps of 32. This lead to very unpleasant nights with very limited sleep.

Great stay at ibis style york. minute walk from train station. Wetherspoon and grene king nearby. 10minute walk into city. Clean, comfortable and friendly 😌 we will definitely be back as it ticked all our boxes. Only negative is very limited parking.
