We stopped in room 52 at night after walking along the walk way to the room nearly tripped a few times on the step to the front door even though it was a small step very hard to see at night.
Room was very clean.
The heating in the room was on all night, the room was too hot to sleep.
Bar & reception staff excellent .
We thought the breakfast was very poor, it was advertised as a buffet breakfast and was a fixed breakfast so not what we were expecting, they missed the toast & mushrooms off my breakfast.
Coffee was warm , milk was very cold making the coffee even colder.
Breakfast was all hot.
Location was brilliant just around corner from all attractions.
We would recommend people to stop but just not eat there very over priced food .
Parking is cheap in comparison.
Over all good just expensive for what we got.

The hotel is lovely and friendly . The bed was so comfy and loved the bedding and towels. The bathroom was t too good. After a bath and you pulled out the plug there was a ball of hair it was disgusting. The breakfast was yummy. Still a gorgeous place to stay and town just round the corner.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff and lovely food. Good breakfast menu and the evening meal was amazing - highly recommended. We had no problem getting parked and it took just five mins to walk into the centre of York. We will definitely be booking again.

The towels had make up on them. We were unsure if the sheets had been changed and honestly... The room was just quite small. Actually smaller than going to an Ibis or Premier Inn or something and was considerably more expensive. So overall we weren't impressed

The bedroom was fine - clean, comfortable and spacious.
The bathroom however was cold and damp with mould evident on the walls, window and the side of the bath. We kept the blind closed as it made the room marginally warmer. We did report this and nothing was done.

Staff were excellent. Service was brilliant for breakfast and we had meal in the restaurant on our first night . The young man serving us was very welcoming and advised us re the tapas menu .
Room comfortable. The bathroom was a little tired shower was excellent but decor needs refurbishing . After a shower the room was drenched in condensation. The bathroom heater wasn’t working on the first night there .
All in all no complaints this was our second visit to this hotel and we will come back

Staff left the latch on the front of one of the beds that holds the twin beds together and my friend hurt her foot on it quite hard as it was sticking out. I had to remove it so it didnt happen again. No sanitary bags provided, housekeeping came while we were still in and checked every room to see if people were still in there. We also ran out of toilet roll really fast and there was no plug for bathroom shaver/toothbrush. I expected a lot more for a hotel of this price

Lovely looking hotel, nice staff on reception always helpful. Lounge and bar area really lovely and cosy at anytime of day to relax,drink or play a game.

Hotel was in a good spot near to town.Staff were friendly and accommodating.Hotels bar area was a perfect size.Breafast was lovely but service too slow due to a new system being tried ! We had a large accessible room with a very big wet room ,the only down side being the Floor was very wet when trying to get ready to go out . Hotel was shabby chic in places and the atmosphere was cosy.We had a good stay

Nice mid range hotel, but bathroom in need of an upgrade. Also beware if you are put in rooms in the listed building section, then the floors are not level and this can be quite disorienting. This should be made clear when booking. Also heating was on full blast. Had to turn the radiators down. No air conditioning either.

Better communication on checkin around requesting room to be cleaned, came back after a long day to no water, no milk and room not refreshed. No lift so had to climb two flights of stairs (elderly mum and i'm pregnant!) then checkout they didnt mention you needed to put code in to release barrier. Very frustrating. the room had really bad condensation which means a lot of mould developing in wondows which we're breathing in. not great.

This three-day stay in York was the end if a 10-day road trip. We loved York, shame about the hotel. The location was great but that was about the best we could say. Firstly they charged us £12.50 per day for the privilege of parking our car on their premises. Money for old rope as they say. And it was an example of seeming to get the worst room in the hotel for booking through Hotels.com. The room was too warm but they never solved that problem. Despite having booked what we thought was a bigger room - with a double sofa bed - the room was pokey and the bathroom - a corner cutout of the room - was really small. No plan to swing a cat - it would never have survived. Don’t want to beat a dead horse but this hotel, meant to be historic and something special, was not much to write home about.

Fabulous room in central York. Very spacious and comfortable with ample parking. River walk is very close, as is the Shambles. Hotel let us stay in the parking lot even after we had checked out, allowing us to get in shopping and lunch. Great place to stay!

Had a great overnight stay. We stayed in room 2, which was a comfort room. Was was very nicely decorated and the bed very comfortable. There was fresh milk provided in the fridge, and usual tea, coffee making facilities. The only slight downside to this room was the bathroom, even though it was lovelly, the shower cubicle, was small, and the toilet was crammed into quite a small gap inbetween the wall and shower. The breakfast was of very good . We had a complimentry drink as we were there to celebrate my husbands birthday. It was a lovely touch. Very close to the town centre, the grounds were kept beautiful.

Parking is marketed as available rather than included . It’s not included and may not be available. You only discover this once booked. it’s first come basis and £12.50 a day extra. A queen/king bed is just two beds pushed together in the family room. The bathroom was tired looking and the hot water was at scolding level for both kids and adults. The eye masks were needed , as the room was on the road and the curtains didn’t close properly and bright lights outside on 24/7. The kids pack was a nice touch and the little vip gown to wear as were the fridge items. Staff were friendly and it’s a great location. Didn’t use the restaurant or bar facilities so can’t comment.

We were in an older part which was nice overall but in need of some TLC in others. Quite a lot of dust on dado rails. As an executive room it was large with both a stand alone shower & roll top bath, but probably not worth paying the extra given the need for TCL/cleanliness, We arrived back at gone 3pm on first day & room hadn't been serviced & wasn't subsequently as we wanted to relax in our room. On the second day we arrived back gone 2pm & room was only just being serviced. Whilst towels in bathroom were replaced, milk in fridge wasn't replenished (luckily we had just enough), neither were the biscuits or Yorkshire tea bags (we had to make do with decaf).
On Sat night we decided to eat in the lounge bar but there was a large party of males (assume a stag party) who were getting louder & using bad language. Whilst it didn't make for a relaxing meal but didn't overly bother us as we ate & left, we felt that someone from the hotel should've have asked them to quieten down, especially as we were aware that there were several solo female guests (some probably late 60/early 70).

Really good location, 5 mins walk over the bridge to the old town of York. Bed comfortable. We had the cozy double room. Little on the warm side, obviously older building with no aircon, had windows open no problem. A little bit of noise from passers by but nothing to write home about. Staff friendly. Beer garden nice, although previous people had left mess around garden but not hotels fault. Managed to get parking space which was handy. Would I stay again, yes I probably would. Thank you

The room was dirty..stains on the net curtains and on the bath robe, which didnt smell fresh either! Sofa bed uncomfortable (for a 12 year old), he said the matress was thin.

For what i paid, there are nicer, more central hotels..i didn't have the breakfast, we went to the Judges Lodgings, which is also a hotel (wish wed stayed there), the breakfast was cheaper and the service was out of this world.staff at the slightly run down Middleton hotel were miserable..apart from.the barman..who was very pleasant..

The location is literally a 5 minute walk from the town so ideally placed. It has good car parking spaces which cost £12 to use, but the local car parks are very expensive. The breakfast was a little dissapointing as the cooked breakfast had no hash browns. We never used the gym but i had a look and it had a vast range of equipment to use. The bar was reasonably priced, and had a cosy, chilled athmosphere. On the whole it was a nice stay

Great location, Room ok

Great location with just a short walk over the river to reach the city centre. Hotel was lovely. We booked a cosy double which was located across a small bridge in an external building, up a flight of stairs. The bathroom was extremely spacious with nice toiletries, and had a bath and shower cubicle. A good selection of tea and coffee bags were also provided along with ginger biscuits as part of the room. The room also had a TV, mini fridge, a good size wardrobe, two bathrobes and slippers, and free WiFi using a sign in. The bed was really comfortable and large enough for a couple. The room and bathroom were heated by radiators with a tall fan cooler provided. The room opened and locked with actual key rather than card. The car park was on two levels - a few spaces as you drove in, then the rest down a short steep hill on the hotel level. There aren't many places so suggest arriving earlier as its first come first serve. We went on a weekday so there were ample spaces. There were also about 4 electric EON car charging spaces.

On to the not so great. The room was smaller than expected with a more than required large bathroom, which was about the size of the room itself. We stayed two nights, however the bedsheets and towels were not replaced. The toilet rolls were behind the toilet so hard to reach, I had to put a roll on the floor to use each time I went to the bathroom. No extra pillows were provided in the room.

It was an ok stay, but the location was the real benefit.

I stayed here for one night and was a super location - easy walk from the train station and was also easy to get to the main city centre.

The reception is open 24 hours which is something I like when travelling alone. The reception staff were friendly at check in and check out , and also when I asked for a last minute late check out.

The room itself was just what I needed for one night, and I had a lovely view. Had tea/coffee/hot choc and biscuits. The toiletries were white company and smelt lovely. There is also a really fluffy robe which was so cosy. The main selling point of this room though is the bed which is so so comfortable- and didn’t want to get out of it (hence arranging the late check out!)

Lovely weekend break in a lovely hotel.
The staff were very pleasant and efficient, room was spacious, comfortable, homely and clean.
Everything we needed was provided in the room.
We had breakfast for which we booked a slot the day before. We were 10 minutes late and there was no space for us in the main dining area but we were seated in a side room opening onto the main area, which we didn’t mind at all as it was pleasant
