We’ve just got back for a lovely 3 night stay at The Vikings Accommodation.
The accommodation was easy to find travelling from North Wales and on first impressions from outside it looked great.
They give you a code for the door to get into the building when you arrive and then issue you with a key fob which makes it very easy to come and go as you please.
We stayed in room 1 on the first floor which was the Deluxe Kingsized bedroom with en-suite. The room was spotless and the Viking themed cushions and throws were a lovely touch.
We had nice white fluffy towels on the end of the bed and they put some chocolates on top which I thought was a very nice gesture.
The room had a kettle and coffee maker and there was Yorkshire tea bags, sugar, UHT milk pots, coffee capsules and biscuits. Mugs and spoons were on a little tray underneath the kettle.
The room was lovely and warm as the heating was on but if you get too hot there is also a fan that you can just plug in next to the bed.
On the ground floor is a dining room and a fully equipped kitchen which you are free to use whilst you are staying there. There’s a big American style fridge freezer, microwave, saucepans, frying pans all kitchen utensils and a sink to wash up after yourself with tea towels and sponges as well.
Jamal was lovely and made sure our stay was good. He gave my husband some great ideas of places to go and things to see and told us the best way to get there etc.

It was quite dusty and felt unclean overall. Also, the shower drain didn’t work. Lastly, the single bed in our room was very old with visible coils seen through the sheets. Disappointed with this stay and wouldn’t go back or recommend.

It was ok the host was welcoming and informative about the area and shown us our toom and how to access the front door for when we arrived back from our walk around the city.
Although the room was clean the bed was not very comfortable but it was ok as we were only staying one night
The only thing is that it should say to park on the street near the hotel cost £5 for 24 hours as we didnt find this out until we arrived

Lovely little guesthouse close enough to the action but quiet and a great neighourhood.

No reception, or staff, they texted a code for the outer door and the key was inside. Compact but clean and comfortable, with everything I needed, the Nespresso machine was welcome. No bar or restaurant on site but there is a full kitchen you can use if you want to cook.

Ideal stop over for exploring York centre

Perfect in every way. Ideal location for exploring York. 10 min walk to access walk around the wall. Wonderful warm and courteous welcome from Noah on arrival at the property and personal send off when key handed in.Comfortable warm bed. Slept like a log. Both room and en suite clean and wecoming. Tea and coffee making facilities available as well as use of a kitchen and small dining table. Cosy atmosphere just to have coffee and relax before retiring to your room. Overnight parking outside property available at a very reasonable rate. 2nd visit and will definitely be my first choice on my next visit/visits to York.

It was very close to the city center, 10 mins walk, but, I’m 72, had to climb very narrow stairs they said 2 flights, but I’ll say 3 to get to my room, The second night had very rowdy men , next to me, very thin walls, could hear them speaking, well after 11pm before they stopped, It was a long weekend, it was a race week end , but the price I paid was extremely expensive $300 plus a night .

We enjoyed our stay at the Vikings Accommodation very much. The hotel and rooms are nice; they are clean and very sufficient. The location is fantastic – a quick walk to the city center. But what sets this place apart from the others are the owners. They go out of their way to meet every need, and they are very pleasant and friendly. You will be amazed by their outstanding attention to detail. We recommend Vikings Accommodation highly.

We have just come back from a 2 night stay here and we thoroughly enjoyed it, the owner was fantastic when we arrived he took time out to give us a virtual tour of York showed us all the best places to go etc. the property was clean and comfortable we loved the room we stayed in. Roadside parking just around the corner, we parked up and left the car there as the city is within walking distance. Our room was on the roadside but still very quiet even with the window open, we slept very well both nights. Highly recommended and we will return.

More minus’s than plus’s! Our room was small and hot. No fan or air conditioning. The blind was wonky and tangled across a condensation drenched window. The bathroom smelt of blocked pipe work, probably the drainage for the shower needed cleaning. Wasn’t really possible to use it and because of the odour we kept the door closed. The remote control for the TV was broken. The sound buttons didn’t work. I contacted the staff number, but was not offered a solution, or an apology. The room was noisy, both outside and inside, with very poor soundproofing. On the plus the room was central, very clean and the coffee/tea facilities good. Very expensive for such poor quality in comparison to all other hotels we’ve visited in the last year. Would not return.

Stayed 4 nights here. Hotel is on a quiet street, about a 20 minute walk from the train station and a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre. Had a single room and it was a good size, with tea and coffee and more downstairs if needed. There is also a kitchen if you wish to cook your own meals. Owners were lovely. Definitely would stay again if I'm ever in York.

Amazing trip to York for the weekend! The accommodation is ideally placed just a 10 minute walk from the centre of York. The host was amazing and gave lots of information on getting about, attractions to see, and was welcoming and friendly. If we ever visit York again, we will definitely be staying here!

Good stay for a base

Me and my boyfriend came to York and the location was perfect. About a ten minute walk from the city walls to walk around or to the centre. The stay was very price friendly however we had to cut our stay one day short and it was last minute due to unfortunate circumstances and we still had to pay full price. We thought because or this unforeseen issue we would of been able to not pay for the extra day as we didn’t sleep on the 1st January however it is in T&C , so I suppose understandable. Apart from that the customer service was on point and is perfect for a little base for exploring York. It is cozy in room 5 and perfect for a little base.

A Hidden Gem

We were in York for a few days for our daughters University Graduation and wanted somewhere within a reasonable walking distance of the city. Vikjng accommodation is ideally located, a 10 to 15 minute work from the Minster. On arrival we were greeted by the host who also arranged for a parking permit forntge duration of our stay. There is free on street parking nearby but i would recommend paying the £5 per day charge for the permit to be able to park outside the property and with the city being a short walk theres no need to pay the high city centre parkjng charges.
We booked 2 rooms, both of which were spotless and very comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities were great with a nespresso type machine in each room. Our rooms were en suite and again the bathrooms were spotless. Theres also a kitchen available for guest use (we didnt make use of it) and additional tea, coffee and biscuits to grab if you run out.
We were really pleased with Vikings accommodation, the hosts have taken great care to ensure that guests are well looked after in comfortable surroundings.
Price was fantastic with the rooms being around £60 per night. Why pay extortionate hotel chain prices when you can have a much better experience staying at Vikings. We'll definitely be going back.

Very nice host. I only stayed at this hotel for one night. The sink was clogged which I wasn't so crazy about. Also, I think this hotel is a little bit far from the sites. But if you're looking to save money, it might be worth it for you. For me, I wouldn't recommend.

What a gem. We loved this property. Just a short walk from the city wall, cafes and restaurants. Easy walk to the Shambles and York Minster. The area is quiet and makes for a good night’s sleep. Our room was small but very comfortable and well appointed. Bed was good and plenty of hot water. Downstairs there is a lounge and dining area along with a well appointed kitchen which is a real bonus when you are travelling for a long time. Our host was so helpful, not only with our luggage but also with loads of information on York. Great value property and we would certainly recommend.

Absolutely lovely hosts, friendly welcome when we arrived, carried our bags to our room. Gave us a map of York and suggested lots of places to visit or try.
Room was really clean and comfy, plus we had access to the entire ground floor living room/kitchen if we wanted to make any food.
The place itself is a great location. We had a 15 minute walk to the b&b, which is in a lovely residential area, and it’s then a short 5/10walk into the main city centre.
