Cute/clean room, great change of scenery from ‘downtown’ areas, good breakfast. Appreciated water refill instead of bottles. Nice staff. Easy access with bus. Location is not close to tourist landmarks, but that was part of the draw and park entrance to Coloane Trail is across the street.

This is the perfect retreat for a quiet relaxing break away from the hype of downtown Macau and Hong Kong. Excellent service, lovely pool, perfect food, excellent beach and there's a park opposite where you can enjoy a blissful walk amongst native woodland. All in all - my favourite retreat.

The property is beautifully located, next to the beach. The American breakfast is excellent. The only negative for a first time visitor is figuring out how to navigate entry to the reception which is in the middle of a hill, with either a sharp slope or many steps when dropped off by the taxi on the side of the road. Suggest the hotel explains this in its welcome email to a first time guest.

Cute little hotel, walking distance to the beach. Reception staff were nice. The room we got was huge! We had a double sized bed w two twins, and still had plenty of space left in the room.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the casinos but just a short ride on taxi to downtown Coloane for some Lord Stow’s Portuguese egg tarts. It was a relaxing stay.

The front desk is so helpful, providing all the infomation i need, the process is just in 10 minutes, save us a lot of time.

An oasis of calm in bustling Macau

We very much enjoyed our stay at Pousada de Coloane. The room and restaurant offered stunning ocean views, and a pristine beach was just a two-minute walk away—a peaceful retreat from the bustling crowds of Macau. The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Remarkably, the beach was free of mosquitoes and midges. A slight disturbance was the noise from nearby construction, with sawing sounds starting at 9 am and ceasing around 6 pm, which we hope is only temporary. We plan to return but will first confirm that the construction noise has ceased. While our experience was mostly positive, we suggest a few improvements: cooking the bacon longer for breakfast to achieve crispiness, offering unsweetened yogurt with separate jam to control sweetness, and replacing the fluorescent lightbulbs in the rooms with warmer, more natural lighting. I don’t know if anything can be done but, we always had to be careful about water leaking from the edge of the tub when we showered.

the environment , very relaxing. the bathtub in the room should be more well maintained. no facial tissue provided and there is no plug in the bathroom for shaving and my cell phone. Only one chair in the room should provide a sofa in the room , so we can sit if we don't want to sit in the bed.

This is my favourite hidden jewell in Coloane area. The classical Portuguese style furnitures, excellent food, great location with quiet sea view, and friendly hotel staff... all is great.
This time, unfortunately the jet bath function of my room was broken. The other room of my friends also had bad smell, but they didn't mind, so we just stayed there.
Overall, for me this is the best hotel in Macau!

A long-time favorite

The old Portuguese inn has been a favorite of ours for many years - for its old world ambience, the lovely pool, the great breakfast and restaurant, coffee or meals on the terrace overlooking the bay, the gardens, and nearby beach and eating places. They lost a lot of trees in the area in the 2018 typhoon, but have repaired damages, and remodeled again recently. Rooms are long and narrow with Portuguese tiles and furniture, balconies, relax tubs. Not far from new airport/ferry, new casino area, and Fernando's much loved eatery at Hac Sa. Great Italian pizza down the beach, Lord Stowe's egg tarts in the village of Coloane.

Nice hotel. Beautiful view. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very quiet location - far from everything. No services close to hotel. Hotel’s restaurant is not bad, but is on expensive side. The included breakfast is very good. Have to take bus to go places -to get to the bus stop you have to climb about 75 very steep steps with no railing. Of course taxis are available. Hotel has 2 stories, no elevator. This nice hotel is not for old people. To climb to the high bath tub (the shower is inside bath tub) is a real challenge. There’s no safety bar - the staff was very nice and installed the safety bar for us.....

Great Place For a Quiet Break

This is our favourite hotel in Macau and have stayed many times over the last 6 years. The staff are friendly, the location quiet and rooms comfortable. In the past it has been a little like Faulty Towers but is now under new management and the improvements are great. My only disappointment is that it may now get too popular 😎

Location is great. To be surrounded by nature and right opposite a charming beach yet only a very short bus trip away from the casino strip. Catching the bus is very painless and cheap and you'd never need to catch a taxi unless coming back late at night.
Staff very friendly and everything great.
Except room service meal was unbelievable shocking.
Quite easily the worst meal I've ever ordered from a hotel in 20 years of traveling.
I felt quite angry spending $200 to receive a so called Portuguese curry which has zero flavour or seasoning, rice that was dried out and I never feed to a homeless cat and the worst - the friend cod fritters that had not been de-boned so that ever single mounthful was filled with tiny cod bones. That anyone could allow that to be served to me is unforgivable and marred an otherwise very nice, very well run hotel.
I would suggest stay there as it's great value for money but do not waste your stomach eating there!

Room had beach view. Loved sitting on Cheoc Van beach in early morning to hear the gentle; refreshing sound of the waves. Relatively quiet save for a few swimmers.

Enjoyed having breakfast on open-air patio. Breakfast is served from 8am and included juice; yoghurt; fresh fruits; cereal; breads; salad; egg station and ham. Had alfresco dinner of clams with excellent bread at hotel restaurant : )

Nice swimming pool and deck chairs.

Room is clean, alas jacuzzi in bathroom did not work. Servers were attentive and helpful.

Public bus services available to Coloane (Lord Stow’s Bakery – 4 bus stops away; Ha Sac beach – 4 stops away); Taipa and Macau Peninsula. Macau EasyGo Bus app is helpful to get around.

The only bad thing is the transport not very convinient as it did not have free shuttle bus and need to walk up the staircase to the bus stop very tiring 😂😂
But overall I really love it!!!!!!!!
The breakfast is the same everyday hope it could have different choices everyday.
Will definitely come back again if I visit Macau.
It makes me feel like home and this hotel near to the famous Portuguese egg tart!!!!
Ohh and the room service was good !

A comfortable touch of European past

This place is the place to go after a long Asia stay.
Inconvenient the distance to the airport. Though there is a well priced taxi/pick-up service.
Inconvenient the room devices (hairdryers should be a little more up to date) and the wine is a bit rough.
Though, it is wonderful rooms, a wonderful restaurant and a wonderful, peaceful place and splendid beach view to make this an unforgettable good stay.

Classy hotel but far from city. Breakfast is simple but you have all your need. Room is rather small but facing the beach very nice view. You need to call a taxi to transport to city. Receptionist is very helpful to help and call taxi for you. The beach is in walking distance and small village around but there is no shops or local restaurants around and the restaurant in the hotel is the only choice.

When you made it, its the only place to be.

The experience arriving in Macau is something everyone will rate differently, how he experiences this harsh, indifferent, unwelcoming and unhelpful environment.

Should you arrive first time, take a taxi.

Once arrived, it is a three-star location with a four-star environment and service.
If you like harsh wines, take them in your room. Its a good start in the stay, enjoy the pool or pretty nearby beach.

This place is a secret recommendation.

This is a worst hotel I ever seen before: no taxis for anytime,if u want go out have to wait at least 20 minutes; terrible foods for high price; two glasses were broken by accident,the front desk guy with glasses tried to charge $100 local dollars,about $15 US dollars. Never one back again.

BEWARE THE SPA BATH !!

I had a terrible experience with he spa bath. I filled it and after I got in, I turned on the spa, only to have the water turn a murky colour with the worst putrid smell. We told the staff the next morning who apologised but could do no more since the manager was not there. At their suggestion, we left our email address, but so far we have not heard from the manager. Yesterday I emailed the manager but, so far, no reply.

Hidden gem offering charm and seclusion

Charming hotel away from the madness that is 'the strip'. The decor is a little tired and the Portuguese 'old style' could not be more different from the glitzy hotels at Taipa, which in our view is a positive thing. Balcony is spacious and offers great sea views to complement sundowners. Service is good and the pool is ideal for relaxation. Taxis can be a problem but the hotel has a van service. This was our second stay and we will definitely be back.

Relaxing Quiet Get-Away

Three nights at Pousada de Coloane, a great family get away. Quiet, opposite the beach, very nice pool, large rooms with balcony. The weather was great which helped, and the beach has a nice restaurant with pizza, grilled meats etc.
Close enough to the busy Macau if you wish; only 15-20 mins by taxi. Nice walks in the nature park nearby.

Old Style Macau with classic portuguese styling

A great place to have a relaxing weekend away from the grind. The hotel is a classic relic from the 70s/80s and has a happy and friendly vibe. Great if you want to experience a more easy-going and slow paced old style Macau lifestyle. They seem to have an array of guests from all over the place and we noticed a few families there as well. The lunch/dinner voucher was good.

Character and peace :-)

This hotel is an oasis in the area and it has a lot of character. The patio area is a great place to relax and enjoy a drink or a meal. The hotel has a lot of potential but more could have been done to make our stay more relaxing. In particular, the staff need to be trained to ask about things they don't know the answer to, rather than just guess and give the guests the wrong answer!!! This caused us a number of problems.

A reclusive gem

The compelling reason for staying in this hotel is its unique and reclusive location and scenery, and its 70's architecture style. It is a nice get-away for a person or a couple who value this serene and romantic feel. There are buses going to the downtown and casinos, but not very convenient. The facility shows its ages, not necessarily the kind of the comfort you may have in your mind, but passable. Therefore you need to set your expectation right and make a certain compromise. Also the mini-bar in the room has not price list. You need to ask the front desk for the prices. But the items are reasonably priced. This is useful so that you don't have to run to the town (which is not close) for a late night snack or a glass of wine.

A Different Macau

Located away from the glitter of the Macau casinos on local beach. Local bus service frequent and cheap. Great Portuguese food and pousada atmosphere. Needs some renovation as jacuzzi in our room was not working, other bits are fading and in need of repair. Don't rely on hotel transport as the driver has days off when no alternative driver is scheduled.

Superb quiet area away from the crowds.

A shame that the Hotel restaurant \"seemed\" to be closed for renovation during our stay. Sitting on the restaurant balcony having breakfast was superb in the mornings. A short and cheap bus ride to the village of Coloane is recommended as there are nice little restaurants and cafes in the village. We loved the old world style of this part of the coast of Macau. The district is very restful after the hustle and bustle of Hong Kong.
Make sure you walk down to the beach to check it out along with Louis Vitton's beach house.
The bed was very comfortable and the room spacious after some of the more compact (tiny) rooms we stayed in at Aberdeen and Hong Kong.
Just if you are staying it is worthwhile checking that the onsite restaurant is operating before you book as if you are unwilling to catch a bus then traverse backward and forward to the village to eat would become a process by taxi.

They don't know how to run a small hotel

Actually its a nice location for relaxtion. The Terrence and restaurant feel like in Europe but I didn't try any food there. The room was horrible, bath room bigger than bedroom!!! The scale is totally wrong, why double Jacuzzi and wash basin ???? They can make the standard size then make the room bigger.Its difficult walked through the table & chair which located the end of the bed. Found plenty water on the floor, leakage form Jacuzzi!!!
Many defects in the room #111, the white paint on the current hook, balcony door didn't remove sticker which has Chinese wordings. Check in Adrain was good but one waitress was not nice when we ordered drinks a bit late, not flexible. Finally the other Pilipino guy done for us with friends.
Almost HK$ 1500/night its not worth it !!!!

Just had a short 1-day break at this pousada. They have a very nice spot overlooking the sea and a wonderful common terrace where guests can sit out and enjoy breakfast, tea or snacks.

The rooms themselves are compact but they have all the modern conveniences - plenty of power outlets, mini bar, wi-fi. The bathrooms seem to have been retrofitted with larger bathtubs/jacuzzis but the downside is that the larger bathtub encroaches on the free space around the toilet. For larger adults the feeling is cramped. In general, the bathroom design could have made a better use of the available space.

Breakfast was included although the quality could have been better. I prefer a simple coffee and croissant in the morning but croissants were not available. They have both Chinese and Western breakfast dishes, cold cuts, cheese, plus fresh fruit and yogurt.

Overall, it's a nice place if one wants tranquility away from the casino area.

We stayed two nights at Pousada de Coloane, and really enjoyed the time there. It's an elegant, stylish hotel just a couple of steps from the sea. The room was nicely furnished, clean, and had a balcony with a lovely sea view. Hotel staff was very polite, friendly. The breakfast buffet which was included to the room price, was great, too. The weather was nice so we enjoyed the breakfast on terrace. Highly recommended hotel!

A quick getaway from Macau

Stayed at this quiet hotel by the beach front. It is only around 10 minutes drive from the Cotai strip, but very few tourists frequent this place despite the short distance. I enjoyed the tranquility here very much, a rarity in Macau nowadays. The hotel building itself is of Portuguese style, so are the rooms themselves, which make you feel like being at a Southern Europe resort town. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a little silence away from the crowds!

Getaway From The Casinos

The nicest part was being away from casinos but still be close enough to enjoy visiting....sometimes you will have to avail yourself of the hotel's van service in lieu of securing a taxi though. The dinner and lunch menus are terrific and the outside seating has a great view. In my opinion get a balcony overlooking the China Sea.

Nice quiet get away

Nice place to chill and get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Sometime the food was a bit of hit and miss thou and would be nice to see the carpets renewed, but overall great hotel, helpful and friendly staff and location.

It was a good stay!

This hotel was what I expected! Out of the way, ok to get to via bus or taxi. Do not use their transportation as it was not good with the driver not knowing Taipa and where I wanted to go.

Quiet, but lovely

This hotel was a lovely find- it is a little bit out of the way, but that just meant it was very quiet, the terrace was gorgeous and the service very good. The wi-fi was a little flaky, but the staff sorted the issue immediately for us.

Seniors with luggage -avoid this hotel

Hotel is far removed from the centre of Taipa and is very good for honeymooners who want loneliness. For solo traveler wanting to do market rounds , it is not the hotel. The hotel does not have a bell boy and has no elevator. So a senior , with a heavy bag, would find it very difficult to cart his bag two levels down the spiraling staircase.The much publicised \"FREE Wi Fi \" did not work at all and nobody answers the reception telephone after 10 pm . Would not recommend to seniors.

great location and rooms

We had a great stay here, fabulous location and set up. Only minor let down was the breakfast, which could be given more attention to match the otherwise excellent experience.

Stunning location, rustic charm, fawlty towers!

We loved this place despite appalling service from a skeleton staff! The terrace is gorgeous, our double jacuzzi bath was great, the view spectacular. The rooms are rustic and really did make us feel we were in Portugal! Breakfast is limited and DIY..... Loved the little Italian 'the gondola' on beach where service was excellent!
