Good prices and room was in good position looking out at sea. Comfortable bed with clean bedding and towels, nice and quiet allowing for a good nights sleep. The room was clean but 'tired' especially the bathroom. Close to excellent shopping and wonderful Victorian architecture on most of the buildings

Hotel is in poor condition, needs repair! Creaky floorboards, water stained walls, and heating system woke us up at 5am sounding like a hammer drill (many others complained!). Staff were good, breakfast ok. Very much a coach party budget hotel - wouldn’t stay again

When I have reached they gave us both rooms in separate directions as I have booked together. One room was small and one was bigger. When I asked them to change they said we are booked. So I had waited for half an hour to get another room and it was on 1st floor and second room was on 3rd floor.
We booked rooms together to enjoy trip but this hotel ruined everything. Bathrooms are too old but in photos looks everything new. Rooms are also very old. Even housekeeping didn’t clean our rooms and when I asked for towel when I came back at hotel they charged me 5£. So could you please compensate if possible because it was just waste of money. And I have paid more than 200£. Very disappointed.

Have been staying at the Marine now for a couple of years on and off. It’s a Pitty they still not done the changing rooms for the indoor pool! No excuse to not have even started it in all this time. They also charge you for the towels now for the pool, £2.50 when it was free. The receptionist said guests were taking the towels so they have to charge. This I don’t understand as they have your card details so could easily pass on the charge for taking the towels to the guest !!
Bar staff lovely n friendly as usual.
Room was ok, not the best but had a good night sleep .

The staff were lovely and very friendly. I wanted to thank the young man who was on the night shift on 20/21.02 who happily made me a few cups of tea whilst I sat in the lounge early in the morning because I was awake very early. As for the hotel itself, it clearly needs an overhaul, as there were a few issues which needed addressing regarding our room such as a badly fitted draughty window, a blocked bathroom sink which caused the smell of sewerage to come back up the bath plug hole when the sink was emptied and also the fact the bath end panel was broken and had a piece of gaffer tape holding it in place. Not what we expected for the price paid. The location was good but parking was not available at the time and we had to park a few streets away in the town.

In a prime spot on the sea front , the hotel was very convenient for us . It is an old hotel but with some character and it is tired and worn in some places . That said the staff are lovely , nothing is too much trouble when you ask questions . The restaurant and bar areas are good as are the bar prices . We had a 3 course evening meal and this was very good and we were well looked after by the serving staff . Breakfast was also excellent the following day with quality food available and good coffee and juice too .
Our room wasn’t the best , but we were only staying for one night and we could overlook the tired condition and flaky walls . We had a good night’s sleep and it was quiet too .
Overall a very pleasant stay and would stay here again in the future .

On arrival you are charged £10 parking fee, this is not mentioned when booking.
You can hear every word spoken from people in other rooms, No privacy.
Room is poor standard, bed is small, shower poor. Would not stay at this hotel again.

Booked for New Year’s Eve. On arrival got charged an extra £20 each to get the gala dinner otherwise would have sat separate from festivities. Also had to pay £20 to park car even with a disabled badge.

The only negative for me was the check in time is 3pm, and they were messaging us at 8am asking what time we will check out! Not cool at all! The latest check in I have ever experienced. But we still had a pleasant stay!

The breakfast menu was good however it was not fresh. It was as if it had been kept under heat lamps for hours, the fried eggs and bacon were like rubber. The mushrooms and hash browns tasted awful the beans looked like they had been boiling for hours and were congealed. So If you want a good quality breakfast find a café in the town.
The bar food was very inconsistent one day it would good the next awful.
The deluxe room we had was lovely. But a small fridge in room would be nice and if I was to stay there again I would ask for that room again and just eat out.
In conclusion get the kitchen sorted out and this would be a very good place to stay.

Honest Review of The Marine Hotel

I recently stayed at The Marine Hotel and the experience was disappointing overall. The room was very basic and missing several simple but important essentials that would have made the stay more comfortable.

Main issues:
•No plug sockets next to the bed, which is inconvenient for charging devices.
•No shelf by the sink, so nowhere to put toiletries.
•No proper place to hang towels.
•The TV aerial was useless — the signal kept cutting out and made the TV basically unwatchable.

These are all small, basic things that really add up, and it felt like the room hasn’t been thought through for guest comfort. Because of that, I wouldn’t stay again.

We ordered Mozzarella sticks as a snack and were served ones containing Jalapenos which made us both ill. We were not told about the change of flavour. Not good at all, it ruined our holiday. Sort out your Chef!

Nice clean room overlooking the seafront, comfortable bed, shower wasn’t great as the cubicle was really small and the hot water took an age to come through as it wasn’t electric, but good overall.
Good variety of food at breakfast . and items replenished regularly.
Only complaint would be we booked the 2 course evening meal @ £22 each , we both chose fish and chips and the fish looked like it was a frozen piece out of a box ( triangular shape and flat) and frozen chips, we’ve never had a meal in a hotel restaurant and it not been freshly cooked. We wouldn’t eat in the hotel again.

My window in room 333 was in a poor state and due to high winds it was totally inadequate it was so bad I hardly slept and had to put a pillow over my head to try to cut out the noise it really is in urgent need of replacing I appreciate the building is Victorian but new windows is a must

The hotel was outdated and needed some money spending on the decor, the room had a great view yes, but the windows mouldy, the bathroom was tiny and the shower cubicle was also so small you couldn’t wash your feet. Thread bare carpet and dated furniture, I would not stay here again, not value for money.

The room was clean, towels and sheets, they can be changed you just need to ask. The staff were busy at first, we didn’t know it was a rally weekend so scooters everywhere the week before we believe it was a WRC rally, so you’ve got to hand it to the hotels they work hard, the hospitality industry don’t get enough credit. The breakfasts were always hot and just what you need before a walk, sightseeing and visiting different places.
If you want to pay 5* prices go to the premier inn, if you on a budget, it’s a great little place to stay, to add to the years holidays. At a comfortable cost.

Lovely last minute stay. A short walk to town centre and pier. Hotel was very dated and the rooms definitely need sprucing up. However it was clean, the beds were comfortable and it was very quiet.
Bar prices very reasonable, and the breakfast was awesome.
We were going to use the pool but changing rooms were under maintenance and we didnt fancy rocking up to reception in our swimwear!
Staff lovely and friendly. We did not use rhe car park, we parked on the side street until 4pm then main road after 4pm as it was free between 4pm-10am.
Would definitely stay again.

The hotel staff were very good with no issues. The room was clean tidy and warm. I was not impressed by the food options available for the evening meal. Very little choice, disappointing in fact for such a large hotel. As for the parking cost, it was more expensive than to park on the street. Overall, we were happy with our stay.
