The staff were great - very helpful and polite. The location of the hotel was perfect transport walk into the city centre. The pool was a bonus - one of the main reasons for choosing the hotel, it was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was very good - choice of continental and cooked with wide choice, kept topped up.

The room and bathroom was clean however they both need a touch of paint. Unfortunately both the shower and bath tap seemed to run simultaneously when you tried to have a bath. Sadly we didn’t find the swimming pool very warm, with a toddler and it may benefit from a clock so you know how long you're there for. All this being said we found all the staff polite and helpful. Breakfast was good qualify for this rating of hotel. Coffee was nice and we loved to see kitchen staff checling constantly that the food was replenished

I was greeted by a friendly owner/receptionist. Check in was easy. The room was spotless and bed comfortable. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The only slight down side was weak shower pressure, but that was made up for by a deep bath.

Hotel staff was excellent, warm, and friendly. He went out of his way to make sure we we comfortable. Location is a walk to Cantebury but is in a quieter area. Rooms were clean and well kept, breakfast was well done.
Parking lot is small but very well maintained.

Room was clean but needs updating eg crack inbwall, paint missing from skirting board. Amazing bath room but we found it hard to access the bath and shower as it was a beautiful roll top but very high for us to get in and nowhere to hand shower atrachment. We used swimming pool showers!
Staff very friendly and helpful. We had to ask for our dressing gowns but theu were produced quickly. No tea coffee machine except for kettle!
Breakfast was standard, tasty but not much variety but fine.
Sauna has been decomisdioned.and passage to swimming pool is very dark and the tiles are very slippy if wet. (I fell over and badly hurt my arm).

The room was very bare and a bit shabby. There was no hot water in the morning for showers. The reception was not manned and staff from the kitchen had to come out to manage the checkout in the morning. Breakfast was fine but the tables had not been cleared and some food trays were empty. Again, this seemed to down to inadequate staffing.

Hotel was not quite as expected based on reviews. Although very old and has updated over the years, our room was in need of some love and maintenance. The hotel staff is amazing, ambiance is great, and breakfast was good, but sadly our room was in need of a deep clean. Bed and sheets were clean, but smelled horribly of cigarettes and musk. The hotel did offer us a different room and we probably should have taken it. (So that was our fault.) With some deep cleaning to our specific room, this hotel would have been great for a quick visit to Canterbury. Great pubs in walking distance and close to Aldi for convenience.

I was so excited to stay here. The reviews were positive, the parking (imperative), a good breakfast & the pool definite pluses. On arrival (I had told the hotel I would be late - arrived about 9pm) No parking available - I was told, 'its first come first served'. Fair enough, but there is no other parking & this wasn't communicated. I was told to use my phone to find a nearby school which should be ok to leave my car, or to find & park in the industrial estate behind (??) I had no idea where I was & it was dark. I did not feel safe. After driving round, I called the hotel, the, 'I'm just a receptionist', on duty could not put me through to a manager as she was now off duty, 'I could email them but they'd not get that till tomorrow'. So, the advice was, 'in your position I would honestly just book another hotel'.

Still no reply to the messages sent.

So. In conclusion. If it goes well, according to reviews, you'll probably have a great time. If it doesn't, don't expect any back up

The hotel has a small carpark accommodating up to about 10 cars.It is conveniently located being just a short 15 minute walk from the centre of Canterbury. We stayed in room 14 on the second floor which was lovely and big (with a huge bathroom) but rather noisy, as it looked out over the main road, although secondary glazing helped surpress most of the road noise. The room was comfortable and clean with a good tv. Breakfast was self service with plenty of food beit a full English or continental and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel appears to be in the process of being refurbished as it was being painted externally (July '25) and clad in scaffold to the rear. Overall, the hotel provides decent accommodation to stay for a trip to Canterbury and I would use it again.

It's a small old kind of hotel, let's start with the negatives
- small parking inside the hotel
- rooms are a bit oldish
- Aircon leaking in my room

Now the positives
- very affordable
- it's clean
- breakfast is very decent if not great for a little hotel
- swimming pool is such a nice bonus
- staff are all nice and welcoming (which is rare nowadays)

If I have to come back to Canterbury, I would probably rebook this hotel.

Location excellent, short walk from town etc. our room didn’t have a hairdryer or bath robes as advertised, but I’m sure if we had asked we could have had this rectified. Most beds were very creaky!! Fantastic breakfast. Although we didn’t use the pool, we were told it was lovely from others. Comfortable room and free parking, we would stay again.

We booked this property because we were traveling from the US with children and it had a pool. I was surprised there was no lift and we were on the 3rd floor, which was a bit difficult to navigate the winding staircase with our large luggage. The amenities were not exactly as described- there was no shampoo or conditioner, just a single pump that we were told could be used for hand soap, body soap, and shampoo. The bar was a small room which was staffed by the same person running the front desk, so you may need to wait a bit to get a drink there. It is more of a bed and breakfast feel than a hotel feel to be honest. The staff were all very kind and helpful. During breakfast, they had some hot food, cereals, and coffee and tea. The staff brought fresh toast to the table. The building is beautiful and the kids really enjoyed the indoor heated pool each evening. Overall it was a nice experience but not exactly what we expected going into it.

The only downside was some furniture/equipment needing a bit of love (door knob broken on the bedside table, screw on the window loose, hook behind the door in the changing rooms of the pool broken etc), plus a bit of noise from the road but really nothing major at all, it was a lovely stay overall

This is an old building, which is walkable into town centre where there are lots of places to eat. The car park for the venue is free but small (about 10 parking places), not suitable for large vehicles (vans, etc). My room was on the first floor, really large room and large ensuite. The decor was tired, bed was comfortable, desk to work at, but no chair for desk. Wifi was average. Included breakfast was a choice of hot and cold, starts at 0730.

Good hotel within 15 min walk to Cathedral. The area of Wincheap was very run down without great disabled access (ie lack of dropped curbs). Also hotel doesn’t have a lift. Nice pool but a shame the water temp was so low! Room was great and very clean.

The hotel is a Georgian/Victorian building that suffered theft and damage while closed during covid. A huge amount of work has brought it up to a good standard. The staff are great, provide excellent service and the breakfast is good with plenty of choice. The hot dishes are fresh and the scrambled eggs excellent. There is a swimming pool which we didn't get to use due to lack of time. Our only issue was noise between rooms which was not speech or tv so much as footsteps which sounded like someone was walking in our room! It didn't keep us from sleeping but was a bit disconcerting at first. If not for this I would have rated excellent. Having heard what happened and seen how much work has gone into getting the hotel back into operation, I am sure this too will be sorted out.

Breakfast was fabulous. The guy working the front desk was helpful and courteous. The bathrooms had no hooks to hang items and nothing to hold onto when getting into a very slippery tub. They never cleaned out room. The parking area was horrific as extremely limited and small. We had to find a place on the street. They recommended we park at a place 1/4 mile away. I wouldn't ever recommend this place.

Room was large, spacious and comfortable. Although in the original part of the building and facing onto a busy main road which at times was quite noisy the room had secondary glazing to at least cut out some of the noise. This made the room quite warm and with no air con the addition of a fan would be welcome... or take one like i did. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the bufffet breakfast had everything you could want. Parking is a bit of an issue with not enough spaces for the rooms and the staff using the spaces cuts the numbers down even more. There is some road parking nearby or even a small payable car park. The addition of a small but fairly shallow pool was very welcome along with a lovely compact garden area to sit in. There is also a treatment room in the building run by a lovely knowledgeable lady and offers a variety of treatments. I opted for a massage which i must say was excellent. This facilility is a great addition to the premises.

Great Hotel! Perfect for a visit to Canterbury.

I stayed for two separate nights in one week and I was greeted at all times by professional and friendly staff.
The breakfast was outstanding! They use top quality foods which made breakfast a very enjoyable experience.
I had an issue with the TV in the room but my feedback was taken on board and had clearly been looked at when I returned.
If I am ever back in the area of Canterbury, I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Arrived for a spa trip with my daughter. There isn’t a spa at the hotel! It’s a small swimming pool and a beautician. The massage we had was very good but our room was not ready for us. We arrived for check in at 3 and when we went to our room someone else has already slept in it. We had to wait until 5:15 for the room to be cleaned and this was cleaned by the independent beautician in the end. The hotel is not staffed so there were no house cleaners to assist. I was so disappointed as this cost £200 and I believed to be staying in a spa hotel. There was no bar/ evening food. Whilst waiting for our room we weren’t even offered a coffee. I feel incredibly disappointed.

Staff was very nice. They did not have hot water during night (heating was off too) and at early morning (not hot water and no heating, also no swimming pool open) they resolved it during the morning and we were able to use the swimming pool and have a proper shower.

It's a decent value hotel, clean rooms. Heating works. Indoor heated (but not warm) pool which is nice to relax. Facilities aren't all in perfect working condition but this is totally worth it as it's only minor issues here and there. Within walking distance (15-20 min) of anything central for a much more reasonable price than some other central hotels. Breakfast is super. Plenty of choice in the buffet.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of the city center and has its own small car park, which is really convenient as parking costs are extortionate in the city.
The hotel itself was sparkling clean and the room was a good temperature. The receptionist was polite and helpful although reception was left unattended the next morning and we could not find anyone despite waiting twice and ringing the bell.
The breakfast was amazing and they had everything yiu could possibly want or need. All self service apart from the toast and we didn't feel rushed or limited.
There was a little noise from the the road but not enough to cause an issue with sleeping.
I would definitely consider staying again in the future if needed.

Would recommend.

Had a few days getaway to Canterbury nice and near the town centre. The hotel was well presented clean and tidy the breakfast was very nice did miss not having a proper shower as it's a bath set up would stay again .

Overall a good hotel. Efficient and friendly staff, easy walk to town, pleasant room ( on the ground floor as requested) Limited parking but we found a space. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice Hotel conveniently situated

Nice hotel appx 10/15 minute walk to city centre. We were situated in a room in an added building to rear of hotel which was quiet as the main hotel is situated on a busy road. The room was clean but probably in need of a refurb. Buffet breakfast was very good and cannot fault friendliness and helpfulness of the staff
