I booked a single room that was enough forward me. The carpeted areas on corridors and at least in my room need attention- there were visible stairs in various places. The bed was very comfortable, but the base was quite stained. Lovely big towel and a bath- but nowhere to hang the towel to dry as no healing/ towel rails. Warm room with tea and coffee provided with biscuits. Nice staff too. Breakfast was nice although coffee wasn't that great...

Good location, friendly staff, bar area was nice but not much atmosphere, it was really quiet, we were the only family sitting in the bar area but that may have been down to the fact that it was a Sunday night.
Rooms were bigger than expected which was nice!
The parking was a bit of a pain as we arrived earlier around 11am. When we checked in we had to go back to the car park and pay for the hours we had already stayed, then we had to drive out and back in the car park to start the 24hr parking at the discounted rate with the hotel. This was just a little inconvenient but not the end of the world as it was only a short walk from the hotel.

Overall we had a lovely stay and would stay again.

We had an absolutely amazing stay here at the Pilgrim hotel! Canterbuty itself is a must-see town if you are visiting in England and I would highly recommend this boutique hotel. It was charming and clean. Staff were nice and available when needed. Continental breakfast was very good! More options than most. I would absolutely stay here again and hope to be back. :)

Breakfast was very poor. Self service but at no stage in the 45 minutes I was in the breakfast room did any staff member come and refill the milk jug, the fruit juice jugs or anything else for that matter,. Simply stated, there were no staff attending to breakfast!

Room was tiny and bed was one of the most uncomfortable I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. The whole place has more of a hostel feel, including the dining area which was cold and unwelcoming. The food (breakfast) selection was ok and the location was good although the staff I encountered did not appear that bothered about anything, giving the impression they were disenfranchised with the roles and their employer. The building itself is old and in need of a major refurbishment. I do not think the value for money was very good.

Budget, family-friendly stay in heart of Canterb'y

The Pilgrim's Hotel was a great value for the money. Our room was cozy and comfortable with plenty of space for our family of three. The lounge/common area has big couches as well as tall tables with chairs, which made it a great place to spend a couple of hours in the evening playing games with our son and having a couple of drinks from the bar, which is a life-saver when you have cold wintry evenings with a five year old and going out really isn't an option (and just staying in your room would be torture). The breakfast is pretty simple fare (yogurt with toppings, cereal, cold meats and cheese, and bread). Was pleased they offered gluten free bread for myself. Coffee was disappointing and toaster didn't work well, but otherwise it's a very adequate start to the day. Great stay overall and excellent location!

I was traveling from the US with my wife, daughter (13 yrs old) and my nephew (16 yrs old). The hotel is very quaint and my kids loved the characters and tradition. It does not have many amenities but in Canterbury city center it is very convenient.

The parking was a little tricky to find at night especially from someone from the US. The roads were small and signs were lacking. The biggest complaint was the heater in our room was not working and it was winter. But because of its charm and location, I still give it a 4 stars.

Had a very pleasant stay. You need to understand and appreciate the 'olde worlde' character of the hotel, which i did.
I would have liked better toiletries in the bathroom...i didn't bring my own, as it stated they were supplied. There were two on the wall soap dispensers, one for the sink and one for the shower.
The breakfast was lovely with a lot of choice. No full english breakfast, but the continental was delish.
The location was spot on. Although its a trek(for me with dodgy back and hips) to and from the car park, the beautiful surroundings made up for it.
Enjoyed our stay overall.

The hotel is 5 mins from the cathedral and right on the high street, so getting to all the nearby attractions are easy.
Hotel is clean and comfortable. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
I used the park and ride for 2 days costing less than half of 24 hours parking.

The room was snall and extremely hot. No air conditioning. Was provided with a fan tgat had to be let on all night a d still tge room was uncomfortable. Breakfast consisted of a few ftuit juices water, ti. Tinned peaches, tinned grapefruit and tinned cherries. Selection of cereals along with over ripe tangerines and bananas. The only warm option on offer was toast.
In adfition my room was shabby and uncomfortable.
I would not recommend this hotel.

This is a relatively old style hotel, but staff were absolutely fantastic, helping me sort out phone issues etc. The breakfast was a good continental breakfast, and I was not expecting to have breakfast.

The building is really well located in a buzzing part of town, but probably is in need of a bit of a refurb. I was a bit pissed to care!!

Alright-ish, but i won't use this hotel again

Tiny single room, with no chair, but good ensuite with bath and shower.
Very noisy, with people noisily passing by right outside the room, with a door banging constantly, until late at night. Paper thin walls - man in next room was snoring all night very audibly.
Too expensive for such a small room.
Tables in breakfast room very obviously hadn't been wiped properly on both my mornoings - sticky ring marks everywhere.

This hotel is very quaint and comfortable. Our room was very small and we had to walk up two flights of very narrow stairs, however the building is from the 16th century and it is in the description. The location is perfect, its about a 10 minute walk from Canterbury West and is right by the high street.

Great location. Walk straight out to high st and 2 minutes from cathedral. Had to park in one of car parks 5 minutes walk away as none close. 2.70 hour or at hotel £14 gives you 24 hours and can drive in and out of carpark as much as you like.

A very convenient hotel for Canterbury city centre and only 30 yards from the Marlow theatre. Reception staff were pleasant and helpful. The building is hundreds of years old and as expected the stairs to the upper floors need to be taken with care & there did not appear to be a lift.
Our room was clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities. One small addition would be a hand held shower hose in addition to the ceiling unit above the bath. We will certainly stay again.

I booked the cheapest room, it was small but cosy on this cold December night. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spotless so was very pleased. Breakfast included was continental and a very nice buffet was laid out with lots of different food to choose from. Staff were very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Truly wonderful. If you need somewhere to stay in Canterbury the Pilgrim is for you. Its in the centre not close to it. It is the centre. Opposite the Theatre. Just a short walk from the Cathedral and dozens of pubs; cafes and restaurants. Great staff. Whats not to like.

Very conveniently located and only short distances to most of the sites of Canterbury. Be aware there is no hot food available but a good continental breakfast is. Very helpful staff. Car parking is a few minutes walk away and when we stayed (June 2023) it cost £14 for 24hrs. Nice places to eat and drink nearby.

Disappointing, especially after a high rating.

Very central location, good for walking to everything but that comes with lots of noise, especially at night with bars close by. No air conditioning, and sleeping with the windows open isn’t an option. The building is wrapped with scaffolding so we had no view and the first day there was banging and workers walking past our window. We asked the hotel not to pre-charge our credit card because of the poor exchange but they charged our full stay the day before we arrived. The room (#5) on the top floor, up narrow and steep stairs, was adequate but there was a terrible smell coming from the plumbing in the bathroom - so bad we slept with that door closed. The pillows were thin slabs of foam. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast is perfectly adequate. They offered toast which was a nice touch. The inside renovations they are doing to the lobby and the bar are lovely so maybe one day the room will be improved but we would not stay here again.

This hotel had something we lacked in other hotels, water pressure! We would wash our hair and have a nice shower.

We slept as logs even though the bed was only 140 and we shared the duvet.

And the breakfast was really good, much more than we expected. Lots of friendly faces and service-minded personnel!

Awkward to get to as it's within the pedestrian centre which has no vehicle access till after 4pm. So, you have to walk from one of the many nearby car parks. Check-in was quick but no lift to the first floor. We got a room upgrade which was appreciated. When we returned to the hotel at 10:30pm the bar was closed so we had to go out to a nearby pub for a drink. The included breakfast is continental with no cooked options. We asked about the advertised parking charges at checkout and were told we should have requested this at check-in, the rate had also changed and there was no information on which car park we should have used. However, the hotel is in a great location so it's worth calling before arrival to discover the best parking options.

Very clean, delightful helpful staff, terrific breakfast, extremely well situated in the centre of Canterbury. Wonderful value.
Single room was very small but bathroom was modern and fine. No lift but we didn’t need one. Main problem was not the hotel’s fault. One of us had recently had surgery and it was impossible to get anywhere near with the car. Dragging a suitcase was a problem for her. Canterbury isn’t easy if you are disabled!

The staff was great -- particularly Blake, who served us breakfast and was a knowledgeable and interesting (and an aspiring archaeologist as well).

The one reservation is breakfast -- wonderful and delicious coffee, and an array of continental offerings (pastry, fruit, cereals, yogurt). But not a full breakfast.

I used this hotel as my base for exploring Canterbury and Kent. The location is great, easy walking dustance to the 2 railroad stations and just down the street from the Cathdral and the main shopping district. The staff were friendly, helpful and accomdating.

Misleading information regarding parking. Your website said parking available but it isn’t .
You have to go to the hotel buy a £12 voucher then go to car park then walk back with all your luggage, if would have been more convenient to have known this prior to booked date, at least you know what to do

Also paid for breakfast, very disappointing continental breakfast, not very good quality and every item had run out and not refilled and had to ask for drinks and toast after 15 mins as no body around to serve sadly

Would recommend you do some research prior to booking as all is not as it would suggest

Not easy to find even using a satnav because of Canterbury's pedestrian friendly approach and road closures! Parking is off-site at St Radigan's; they have a deal with the car park owners so a 24 hour stay costs £5. Very comfy bed, clean room, and staff very welcoming. Once you've found it, you'll enjoy it!

We arrived at The Pilgrims' Hotel as pilgrims, a bit weary and footsore after walking 19 miles from Charing. Luke checked us in and was very friendly and accommodating. Very comfortable bed! Ayo was on duty in the morning and was also very helpful.
A couple of points: it's an old building, so the sound-proofing isn't great. And breakfast was a little bit Fawlty Towers-ish. But that took nothing away from a very enjoyable stay, and we'll definitely be back!
