The rooms are very sparse, no hair dryer, no drinking glasses in the room. No free wi fi, bar staff could not open a bottle of wine as they could not find opener. Nowhere to put our cases on, has to leave on floor.

The staff were rude and not helpful. The property is very misleading calling a room “Double Room” and it’s very small with a possible double bed that the staff called a “king bed”. Don’t even have included shuttle to the airport, you have to pay £4.50 per person. The room was far and had to take stairs without an elevator available. Horrible experience overall.

Comfortable Stay for the right price.

When we first arrived, the first room we were given wasn't cleaned well, so we were moved to another room 2 floors up. That one was clean, the only issue we were having is that we had no way to turn on the airconditioning and were too tired to go and ask at the reception for the night. So when you go into this hotel, you'll be greeted by polite and professional reception staff. You'll definitely enjoy your night here as the room's pretty spacious. Going downstairs to their restaurant we enjoyed the pizza & pepsi we ordered which was decently priced.

booked into an occupied room (eventually this came out), dealt with by checking my booking-denial of my booking, Expedia chat helped out- Expedia rang, sent to same occupied room, another room found after I mentioned I was flying to Australia the next day and I was upgraded. A bit of an unnecessary run around. I think the hotel was overbooked for the type of booking, I was willing t0 pay to be upgraded but the reception staff just said they were booked out, a manager was more helpful and the phone call from Expedia helped.

The hotel had several shortcomings during our stay. Firstly, they charged for internet access. There was no fridge in the room, and the air conditioning unit made such a loud noise that we had to turn it off. Additionally, the room lacked any furniture other than the bed. The television was very small, and only one towel was provided for two guests. The hot water barely worked, and there was no explanation given about the availability of a shuttle service to the airport, which also came at an additional cost. Being from Canada, I am accustomed to these amenities being complimentary.

30 minutes of free wifi? Who doesn't offer free wifi these days when you're staying with them?! No phone in the room? Couldn't ring to let them know the heating/a/c unit on the wall that had to be turned on as the room was freezing, was so loud. Isn't a phone mandatory? Safety requirement? Breakfast was awful....
Closeness to the airport was convenient, but not even a complimentary shuttle.
Overall, worst of the 5 hotels we stayed at during our 2 week holiday and would not recommend.

Hotel did not leave info regarding transfer from Airport they offer... a Taxi driver asked us why we called him and not use their shuttle. Long day of travelling from Canada... excited to shower after the plane rides... get to hotel and NO SHAMPOO OR SOAP. dispenser was empty. Went to front desk and they gave us a plastic cup of green liquid.... turns out it was a foam dish soap!? Smelt like cleaning fluid. Dissapointing.

Overall I enjoyed my 3 night stay. Breakfast was included and there were sufficient options. However, the quality of some items were inconsistent. Whilst the room was comfortable, the carpet needs cleaning and a little more attention to cleaning bathroom doors and other overlooked surfaces. I was disappointed that there was no mini fridge in the room.

The front desk manager felt the need to argue with us over whether or not breakfast was included. We paid for breakfast (through Expedia) displayed the paperwork and the manager proceeded to say she's not responsible for what a third party lists. She did not want to give us free breakfast but after arguing with her she sighed and said she would let us have breakfast. Terrible customer service. Terrible attitude. I would NEVER stay here again.

Be ready ro pay for everything, WiFi free only for 30 minutes per day, otherwise you have to pay for it. Only one type of soap to shower, bring tour own products and if you're driving be ready to pay extra per day. The breakfast was good, but then again it's not included with your reservation

Booked in early for £10.00 only to be shown to a room that smelled of smoke/we think old and in the furnishings, carpet was terribly stained , dirty and not hoovered. Hair in bathroom floor and built up dirt all around bathroom floor edges. Both mirrors in the room unclean. Window sill dirty.
We had stayed here on our arrival at Gatwick airport as well and when we asked the reception person on to call us a taxi a very unsafe situation occurred which has been since reported and met with indifference by that at same person when we returned 6 weeks later. The only positive thing to say is that the cafe/ bar staff appear to work hard trying to keep a very run down space clean. It is not their fault seats are ripped, paint is off the walls and management seems uncaring. Never again!!!

Hotel is a 5 minute drive AWAY FROM AIRPORT. Limited transportation. Airport bus is up to 8 euros one way. Taxi is b/n 17-30 euros each way.
Breakfast is questionably free with limited food containing bagel (only butter/jam), bacon, sausage, cereal.
Allows late checkin with friendly staff. Checkout 12pm which was very nice.

I arrived at midnight, very tired I’d been awake since 5AM. Door key/card didn’t work, had return to lobby. Second key card didn’t work, I had to insert multiple times finally it worked. I was almost in tears. I had to get up at 4:30AM. Carpet inside room badly stained. Furniture was spartan. Room had strange odor. Bathroom was clean, but modular shower insert very slippery inside—be careful like the sign says. I ordered taxi for 5AM and it was 15 minutes late, and arrived 10 minutes after inquiring a second time. Service at desk mediocre, inattentive. Overpriced even for location. For a motel chain this was a disappointment. I wish I stayed at one of the mom and pop type places I also found listed nearby. I almost never fill these out. So maybe people only post bad reviews and those with good experiences don’t post. I may skew the rating negative and I apologize—it’s just that my experience was less than underwhelming.

Although the hotel had a restaurant there were no choices of restaurants near this location it was a bit isolated there were only other hotels and a gasoline station with a small store nearby.
We were there in October and the heater was on the room became too hot but the remote control didn't work.

Did not like anything. It smelled it was dirty, there was no soap to wash your hands. I was not aware that the wifi is free for only 30 minutes. While I understand that a charge of 3 pounds for 24 hours is not a lot of money but I did not want to put my credit card info online and you could not just add 3 pounds to your bill. I would never stay here again!!!!!

It was convenient and close to the airport and the shuttle service was okay;. When we came in on Sept 29th the staff was very friendly especially Carolyn very friendly and willing to help. But on Oct 10th our impression all changed. The staff at the counter was very unhelpful. My husband was just released from the hospital and wanted to rest and they would not even allow us to check in around 1:45 pm, we had to wait till 10 mins past 2 to check-in I found that was a bit to severe. We were waiting in the lobby since 11:30 am.

This property is in bad shape and no effort is being made to remedy that. The carpets and furniture in the room and in the lobby and restaurant are dirty and badly stained. There are virtually no amenities, the shower curtain needs to be washed or replaced, the linens were stained and the restaurant service was terrible. The system of ordering and delivery of food was inefficient. (It took 35 minutes to get an ice cream dessert). The only thing they did well was pour drinks. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

They have a good shuttle to the airport however it is at an additional cost. It is pretty busy so be aware that the bus will be crowded. I found it annoying that they did not have free wifi. You get 30 minutes ever 24 hours free but if you want more than that it is an additional fee. With the cost of rooms I find it pretty cheap to require people to pay to access internet. Breakfast was a decent selection and moderate cost. Rooms were clean and in decent condition.

it was quiet and perfectly adequate for a night between planes. Good lighting in the room. No phones in rooms so no wakeup service. There was a liquid soap dispenser in the shower that was empty or nonfunctioning. Easy to get to from airport by Hoppa bus (7 pounds roundtrip). For dining one needs to queue a long time to order then wait about an hour to get the food. There's no other place to eat nearby that I could see. But there's a big buffet breakfast with lots of choices. Reception staff were friendly and helpful.

The Travelodge Gatwick Central is one of the cheapest budget hotels close to Gatwick with an airport shuttle bus (7 pound charge per adult for return fare). The staff was professional, warm, and sought to rectify issues we experienced. The food prices were also good for Britain where the exchange on the pound can be tough for those paying in Canadian dollars. Families will particularly appreciaate that two children under age 15 eat free for every paying adult in the cafe.

The facility and our first-floor room however didn't measure up. The carpets in the hotel were in need of a deep clean. There was an unpleasnt odour in the hallway and room. The room was hot as the environmental controls (cooling and fan) didn't work. I note that the windows dont open in this facility.

The shower drain was almost plugged and the soap dispenser by the sink was empty. When the envoironmental controls couldnt be fixed, the afternoon/evening manager, Sam, did graciously move us to a different room for our second night. Thanks, Sam! The environmental controls never cooled past 24 degrees C in the second room but the fan didn't cycle off and need to be restarted manually evrry hour as it did in the first room.

Casey and Caaroline also provided appreciated troubleshooting of issues during our stay. Based on our experience, Travelodge needs to invest more money in maintaining this facility to match the quality staff team present. Based on our stay, we wouldnt book this facility, again.

Here is everything I wanted to know staying at this property:

There IS a shuttle to the hotel. You can catch it from the South AND North Terminal. It stops at BOTH. It departs two times her hour and costs $3.50. You can pay with a card or cash.

If you are going to the train station, it's at the SOUTH Terminal.

The Gatwick Express with take you to London Victoria in 30 minutes. There are a lot of trains--you don't need to prebook because you ticket is valid for any train all day.

The restaurant is open 24/7. The menu has burgers, pizza, some Indian dishes and a full bar. Eat there - there isn't anything other than a convenience store nearby.

The rooms are HUGE, but you're not going to get shampoo and conditioner.

If you have a stopover at Gatwick airport this hotel is a nice option. The room was decent and the bed very comfortable. There is a bar that serves really nice pizza late into the night . If you like walking there is a wooded trail about 3 minutes away called the mole. There is a bus to gatwick that stops at the door. I will be back

The room was clean and comfortable. Easy check in and conveniently located near Gatwick Airport. The hotel advertises free wifi and free breakfast which are misleading. You are allotted 30 minutes of free wifi per room, then it’s “pay for internet.” The breakfast is only free for one child per paying adult. Adult cost is around $13 USD. No hair dryer is provided and the toilet did not have enough water force to flush tissue.
