The hotel itself was impressive as you walked in. Staff at reception were very nice. The room itself was very dated. The windows were not good, we thought they were still open when shut, they let so much noise in. The curtains were hanging off the rail so we were unable to close them properly.The shower curtain was mouldy and the bathroom smelt bad as a result of that. The mattress on the bed was so hard and uncomfortable. The hotel itself was so noisy even through the night, all in all we had a really bad sleepless night. Would not stay here again.

This was a last minute booking for an overnight before our flight. You could tell it was once a grand old place but is now a bit unloved bit for what we paid it done the job. Staff were fine and free parking! It only took 10 mins to get to the airport so very convenient. No idea what the food was like as we did try any.

Great proximity to Crawley and Gatwick if you are needing to stay nearby, was greeted at Reception with a friendly smile and welcome, with quick check in process. Finding my room was fun on the ground floor - was sign posted well, just a long corridor of twists and turns which made me smile! Had a no window room which is absolutely fine if you are arriving just for an evening, it didn't bother me at all, there is a sky light with a blind, and it meant i slept well. Couldn't hear any noise from the room. There is a restaurant on site which I wish i'd known beforehand. Parking for one night was a little harder to find as lots of people were parking up and leaving them there during their holidays away, so only a couple of spaces free close to the hotel when I arrived. Easy check out, room spacious, TV, tea and coffee, plenty of towels. I'd happily stay here again and will actively look for it again if I need to be close by

Hotel was actually lovely we got our room fast didn't have to wait too much the cleanliness wasn't too bad TV could of been better as didn't really work you see a plane every 5-10 mins which my son loved the wait at the bar was horrendous though they had 1 barman and 1 chef took us half an hour nearly an hour to get a drink and wasnt even too busy the food so over priced but looked really nice could maybe make it more family friendly like a little park or even something small like a tyre swing as my son was very bored and nothing for him to do he is 3 btw. Was warm in the room and windows didn't open much good for kids but not adults we only stayed for 1 evening as had early morning flights got food delivered via just eat which was brilliant the staff was friendly the barman very hard to understand English but he shouldn't of been alone as kept being needed in the kitchen hence why the wait was so long. Over all i would definitely stay again next time i get a early morning flight but if your looking for somewhere date night or whatever i don't recommend no entertainment hall or nothing just a bar rooms and an outside area with nothing to do.

The room that we were staying in was so smelly, it smelt like cigarette smoke throughout the room and in the hallways as well. Our clothes and all of our belongings smell like this room now.

Our room did not have any windows or balcony doors, so the room had no ventilation whatsoever and it was so humid, stuffy and hot in the room, with a small fan to provide little to no relief.

Lucky we were booked on the ground floor, as there were no lifts at the property.

The fire alarm went off twice in one night and there was no information on what to do, we thought our room was malfunctioning, but turns out it was everyone in our section. We didn’t know if we had to evacuate, and staff didn’t tell us what to do.

If you book through Expedia, make sure you double check if your breakfast is included, because we paid for breakfast, then I checked my booking and it was actually included. Grateful they returned the money, but this should be something that should be checked in advance.

We were only provided one roll of toilet paper, and other guests found it difficult to receive any additional amenities such as a towel so we did not bother asking for an extra roll as we were already checking out that day.

I arrived in the early hours of the morning due to going straight after work. I was just staying for one night before heading to a family funeral. I drove around the car park for 20 minutes before giving up and just put in the car right outside the front door. The car park was absolutely chocker. I understand that this is used for parking for the airport but I really think there should be some actual parking for people staying at the hotel.

The hotel is okay good for the Price staff friendly the problem was the shower. It was a dribble. The room had no window, but I had chosen to have a room with no window as I knew I would just be getting my head down for a few hours. The room itself was fine. They should maybe dust the fan occasionally as when I turned it on I got a face full of dust.

Initially I had thought that if this place was any good next time I fly from Gatwick, I might leave the car there. But no, I would not stay there again as lack of parking puts me off.

Hotel room for pets

We arrived with our two small dogs to a court yard room as you walk through the hotel it looks clean, staff were friendly, courtyard was clean but it's not a sealed courtyard room so you can let the dogs roam as you sit and watch them, as on the opposite end is an open section not sealed and there is a very busy road, we get into the room it's so small and extremely hot, the bed is pushed upto the wall so if you need the bathroom you have to climb over your partner to go to the toilet, it was so tiny you can not use the toilet and wipe your tush at all and my partner was not able to get into the shower, very annoying, on the approach to the hotel it looked tired and flaking paint, there was also a roudy men outside which nearly made us leave, the breakfast was very nice, but the manager who stood in the breakfast area, seemed like he was loitering with intent, every time I went in to the breakfast room he was doing nothing just which was a bit off putting, we will not be returning as the overall experience was so bad we had to have the room door open with the dogs cage against the door, we did not sleep well I woke up with a bad back, and my partner ended up on the floor as there was not enough room for both of us in the bed, very very disappointed, we had stayed at the travel Lodge the night before, which was a very nice room bed was wonderful, so will be using them in future, even though it was more expensive the sleep at the travel lodge was much better, sadly disappointed

Myself and my daughter stayed here for 3 nights to visit family. The room was very small and very warm, windows couldn't be opened however a fan was provided. Room was clean an tidy, bathroom looked new but the beds were very hard,. Mattress were old with no stains on it, however pillows had yellow stains on them ( other people's drueled on them yuck ) slamming doors constantly an our room was above the kitchen ventilation which was going all nite. The hotel staff were pleasant an helpful. It seems to me that this hotel only cares about the airport parking side of things, thats obvious because the hotel car park is jammed with airport parking an the hotel hasent got many guests. Food also has a not such a good review, only ok if ur saying over nite for a flight an they dont supply transport to the airport, taxi about £20

Russ Hill Hotel was perfect for what we needed, a place to stay that was close to Gatwick the night before we flew.

It’s certainly no glam, fancy, modern, minimalist hotel, but is spacious, clean rooms and does exactly what you need the night before a flight.

Check in was a bit chaotic as not enough staff on shift (10pm) with one poor guy having to do everything. Whilst there was a lady with him, she had apparently finished her shift and was trying to go home, whilst having some manager on the phone giving her grief about something.

Not a great first impression, especially with the one guy who was on shift, was having to deal with multiple problems at once, with an endless queue of random folk popping up to ask for stuff, complain or just ask questions, all in addition to those actually trying to check in. Need more staff here, especially at night.

However……once we finally got to our room (Family room) it was exactly what we hoped for. Big, spacious and clean with a decent bathroom. Exactly what we needed for the 4 of us.

Bar was also open till 10:30pm (some hotels shut way too early) , so that ticked a big box too, with the Barman being very helpful whilst juggling everything himself.

Easy check out the next day (much better experience) and Only 12 mins to Gatwick by car. Saved a lot of money vs some of the other airport hotels, so would stay again (check in experience aside).

I stayed here for one night as I had an early flight from Gatwick airport. I would not recommend this hotel.

The only benefit is that it's about a 8 minute drive to the North Terminal of Gatwick airport, so if you have an early morning flight you are close.

The hotel has no air conditioning and the window only opens about 10 cm. The bed was extremely uncomfortable and felt like it had just springs, no cushioning. The rooms were old and had carpet that was not maintained.

You can hear the planes takes off in the morning, which I was aware of, and I wore ear plugs which worked fine for me.

I would not stay here, pay a bit extra and stay somewhere half decent.

The room was dirty, they didnt clean it. We found stinky socks and stincky underwear in the room ..
Bathroom dirty, no shampoo, the box of shampoo was mouldy and stinky. We ask reception for body shampoo or anything to use they said tgey dont have.. it is like 1 star hotel..

i couldnt sleep because of the heat i couldnt open the window..

I would never go back again.. i could find a chesper and better hotel in that area..

I had a single room as did my friend they were both excessively hot with no fans, there was a unit somewhere close by that kept both of us awake all night - rooms 304 and 306.
The staff did get us fans but none of our windows opened. My friends toilet seat was cracked, and she had no TV remote.
So sorry would not recommend if a single room was required

The hotel looks like it belongs in a horror movie. Parking lot was full. The hotel has a weird smell in the hallway. The room was horrible….dusty…the shower was open there was a chair for like old people…I feel this was used as a nursing home before. I bought breakfast and got there at 905 and I couldn’t even get a fruit.

Cheap but Adequate

It's only fair to start with the approach to the hotel.
It sits about 5 miles south of Redhill, and is situated on a country lane. Top tip: check in early (while it's still daylight), because if you go later (in the evening when it's dark), you'll probably here banjos. If you do; drive/paddle faster.

Seriously though, the country lane in the dark can be a little intimidating the first time.

My initial room was upstairs in the middle of a heat wave. Consequently the room was way too hot and I have difficulty with stairs, so I asked to change to something on the ground floor. They were able to find me a single room with the world's smallest WC/shower. Although one can't sit straight on that loo because the sink is in the way, the shower was excellent.

The hotel is about half the price of others in the local area and looks quite dated, but I wasn't there for Instagram pics. I just wanted a base for the weekend.

There were fresh towels and soap for me, and the room was out of the way of the foot traffic, so it was quiet.

Decent sized TV on the wall, but I didn't get to use it, as my itinerary was full.

Breakfast is served from 7 - 9am and costs around £11
There is also a bar, but again I didn't get to use it.

Lots of parking out front. Even though the hotel was full, I was able to find a space for the car.

The girls behind the counter are delightful and very helpful.

All in all, I was there for a specific purpose, and it suited my needs perfectly.

A very nice hotel. However, the dog area seems to be fenced off and located in a sort of garden area. You sleep in a sort of garden hut, where the outside light shines into the room all night, and the bed was extremely uncomfortable; every single spring poked into your body.

But it was very clean. An absolute plus, and quiet.

We were in room 220 - this was at the other end of the hotel away from reception. On arrival (approx.15:45pm) we had to manoeuvre our cases around dirty bed linen and trolleys. Outside the door to our room were 4 x black bags full of rubish. I originally picked this hotel as a ‘carvery’ was advertised. However upon arrival we were told that ‘the carvery is not on this evening’. So we thought we’d just have a couple of drinks in the bar. At this point we were informed the bar wouldn’t open until 6pm. Eventually we decided to drive to another pub (back near Gatwick airport) and we ate there instead. In the evening when we got back, the room was hot and stuffy with no A/C and no way of opening the window. We were both relieved to leave in the morning!

Rooms are very small and very hot. Secondary glazing had been installed but was not sound proofed. Weeds grew within the original frames. Bath was tiny with very high sides and no rails to help you get in or out. As a short person it was a struggle. When we arrived there was piles of dirty laundry pukes outside the door so. The corridor which remained until after we went to bed. I tripped over a packet of toilet rolls. Clearly a health and safety and fire risk . Beds were uncomfortable and had clearly seen better days , the mattress needed replacing you could feel the springs. The outside of the hotel was very run down. Food was medocre, pub didn’t open until 6pm and the restaurant was closed. . On the plus side the staff were friendly and helpful and everywhere was very clean . The hotel was due to close for refurbishment but NO-ONE told me before I arrived or on arrival. Restaurant closed, bar supplied very limited, failed to inform me that breakfast (pre booked!) want available on Sunday morning leaving me with no food before a days work. Manager disinterested and facetious. Written complaint to Customer services has still not been responded to! Shouldn't bother refurbishing - just shut it down! Will never book with this organisation again.

In view of the landing time I decided to have an overnight stay before I drove home. The booking was made at short notice and lived up to the description on the website. For me this was a basic but comfortable hotel. Arriving in the dark it was essential that I used Google Maps to find it. Breakfast buffet was excellent and cost £11.

The settings and location was amazing and the building architecture looked great - I can only imagine at day light it would have been quite the setting. Road leading to hotel said it was shut, which it wasn't. That's after following the diversion sign and doing another 4 miles unnecessarily.
Lane leading up to the hotel at night was very difficult to see the hotel entrance as no lights on at the entrance and no light over the name sign of hotel to give you an indication that you have arrived.

Bad smells from bathroom water leak from above bathroom cealing all night wetting toilet rolls reported in the morning to reception n0t happy little sleep no mirrors in room no ventilation possible

Stayed here before flying early next day. Our tv wasn’t working and couldn’t get the sound to work then staff came in and sorted it out for us which really helped! Really clean rooms and quick check in

Russ Hill Hotel is a convenient place to stay if travelling on an early morning flight from Gatwick. A nice bar with a good offering of food. The hotel is in need of a little modernising, however, it’s pleasant and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Free wifi is only in reception area then £7 per night per device. Rooms are not made up each day. Beds were hard. wouldnt use again

The Hotel was lovely but was given a wrong key on arrival which when I got to my room another person was in there so had to go back to reception and no apologies was given for the mix up
And then due to bad weather over night they had a power cut which I know was out of their control but when everyone was leaving and handing bk keys staff was just taking the keys without saying anything to customers which was a tad rude

Had no running water or electricity. No offer of refund or any provisions. Staying with 2 young children needing to be clean and not being able to even flush the toilet made it a very uncomfortable stay
