Gainsborough Lodge is less then 10 minutes drive from London Gatwick airport which can be easily connected by local bus number 20 & 100, train to Horley station which is less then 10 minutes walk and taxis. There are a total of 20 guest rooms on the premises which have flat screen tv, tea/coffee making facility, towels and toiletries.
Gainsborough Lodge offers free Wi-Fi internet connection on-site. This guest house does not operate a 24-hour reception and have night arrangements for guest arriving after 21:00.
There is on site parking available at an extra cost which needs to be reserved and also offers holiday parking at a discounted rate. Horley town is 10 minutes walk where you will find number of shops, restaurants, pubs and mini supermarket.

All the bed clothing is cheap.shower was blocked so unhygienic way to take shower .reception is not 24 hours so could not report to any one 6.30 in morning about the issue as getting late for airport.did report later but instead of getting an apology and refund owner refuse to apologies and apparently we should report the issue to non existent reception staff and should check the plumbing in the night before talking the room .it was only 12 pounds cheaper then travel lodge which is far better option and same distance from airport and 24 hour reception.so will not recommend.also rooms are very very small

Staff member was friendly and explained everything clearly. He helped me with my luggage which was nice as the stairs are quite steep and narrow. Room was good but bathroom was tiny, I thought I had booked shared bathroom but had my own but there was no room to manoeuvre. I had a shower and the water pressure was good but the walls were wet from humidity as extraction was a bit weak. The toilet was very close to the wall so was uncomfortable and you got a cold wet leg. Heating in room was good and you could turn it up or down as needed, but the bathroom was cold. Very close to restaurants and public transportation.

I recommend the place. If you travel from or to Gatwick apparently there is a bus nearby that goes from to the airport, or by taxi.

The room was freezing when I got in despite answering your numerous emails about my arrival time. The room should have been warm. Then I thought I had figured it out and turned it on but while I was sleeping it was cold and I woke up shivering. I shouldn’t have to go to the front desk to ask how to put heat on! Since no one is even at the front desk unless I ring for them, it is quite a hassle for a tired guest. Leave instructions for the heat or better yet just put the heat on yourselves!

Cheapest nearby hotel that is walkable (20mins) to Gatwick South Terminal - recommended for those on a tight budget. There is a footpath from South Terminal all the way to this hotel but it takes some navigating around car parks and train lines :)

The property needs maintenance, you don’t t feel welcomed in this hotel, lack of attention to detail, requested the hairdryer and breakfast for the next day and they weee not provided, we had to ask for it again the following day. A couple talked ALL NIGHT UNTIL 4:30 am, they weee not even in the room besides us but we could hear as they talked VERY LOUD. As there wasn’t any reception we couldn’t complaint.

Such a wonderful experience at the lodge. Warm welcome at check in. Very accommodating giving us our choice of rooms to a quiet local facing the rear garden. So quiet and peaceful. Lovely town Horley, supper at the Forrester pub, outstanding English fare and atmosphere. 5 min walk from the Horley train station then 3 min to LGW for our flight.

Stayed before and was very good. This time would rate as excellent. Arrived early by train but we were greeted in a friendly manner. We left our luggage safely while we went for lunch with our room key, although we were told our room would be ready in 10 minutes. The room was recently refurbished and was very clean with a king size comfy bed and good shower. We had a problem with the lock on our suitcase and Krunal was brilliant in solving our problem. Would not hesitate to stay again in future. Although, they don't do meals, you can eat takeaways etc in the dining areas.

It's about a 30-45 minute walk into Gatwick from there and, even though it is only 1 mile from the airport i want disturbed by the noise of planes etc, it was just the other guests who came in at about 12.45 and decided to have a loud discussion in the dining room, which was next to my bedroom

Very much outdated house, creaking floors, stairs and doors, being alone I felt like in a horror movie at first. At least I saw other ladies being by themselves too, that gave me a little bit of comfort. But I heard every single move, people going up or down the stairs, movement in other rooms, people getting up and leaving at 4 am, I did not sleep much. Towels were not provided so I had to get creative lol. Just wanted to spend the night close to the airport before I flew out the next day but I do not recommend.

Only stayed one night as on an early flight from Gatwick next day. Really good for transport links, arrived by and departed by bus to Gatwick, stop only 30 seconds away from the hotel. Walked into town, a wide selection of food outlets nearby. There seems to be a breakfast room downstairs, but the guy who checked me in didn’t mention anything about breakfast, possibly as I was leaving early. I was in a single room and it didn’t have space for a bedside table, so had to charge my phone at the foot of the bed, no big problem with that, but it was hot and could’ve done with something to put my water bottle on. The room had a fan so temperature wise it was ok, but a little noisy but noise from the road or other rooms was not noticeable.

Nice hotel, convenient for the airport. However the reception isn't open 24/7 and they didn't leave us enough soap and shampoo in the room for two people, and we couldn't ask for more. There was also an emergency exit with a green light in the room that was on the whole night, very hard to sleep when there's a green light shining the whole night...

This Guest house is run by a family who obviously care. We stayed only one night to \"crash\" between flights, our room was modern and spotlessly clean. The location is quiet and only a 30 minute taxi ride to Gatwick airport. The hotel was very convenient to horley train station and gatwick airport. Being 1 stop away on the train to the terminal. I stayed in this hotel for 1 night as had early flight out from Gatwick. It was very clean and comfortable. Had everything you needed for a nights stay. Myself and my friend booked seperate rooms. Breakfast was provided at an additional cost although we didnt use this facility, so cant comment on the food side of things. But overall nice welcoming hotel and good price too. Will definitely recommend 👌 and will use again if flying from Gatwick.

As soon as we opened the front door we were shocked by the terrible smell. Our room thankfully had windows so we aired it out for two hours while we were out for supper. The room itself was very nicely renovated and spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathtub/shower was slippery though and there weren’t grab bars. There was no fridge or microwave and when I asked for ice he said they don’t do that. I could walk to Lidl for that. There was no air conditioner and no screens on the windows. It would be terrible to stay there when the temps are above 20c and when the mosquitos would be a factor. I would check around. The area itself is great for an overnight flying through Gatwick as there are lots of dining options within walking distance.
