The beds were comfortable and the person at reception when we checked in was absolutely lovely. However, the property is very run down. The air con didn't work, the shower was faulty, the remote for the TV didn't work, and the luggage storage was very expensive if we checked out early. We also went to the \"mini gym\" where neither the bike nor treadmill worked and there was no water or towels available. Overall we felt the stay was very expensive for all that the property claims to have and we were very underwhelmed.

After paying the staff informed us (3 rooms) that the AC was broken. I had important guest that can not sleep without AC. The hotel refuse to pay back our money. We left and had to check into another hotel with a working AC.
How can I get my money back. Ban this place.

I would give a 3.5 overall rating but the poll does not allow a 0.5 addition. That is mostly because the online coordinator upgraded our room to a suite after learning that it was a special event for me and my family. Two separate rooms and an additional half bathroom helped. Place was just a one minute walking distance from nearby Metro station (Porte de Pantin). Safe locality. But a bit away from the main tourist spots.
Issue - Air conditioning was broken even before we checked in. They had placed a portable a c in one room. But the front desk did not inform us in advance. When we requested for one more unit in another room late night, they were able to provide only a small tower fan. I suppose it was a case with most hotels in Paris due to excessive record breaking heat levels. And the team on ground was helpless. We finally figured out ways to cool down by keeping windows open. We did not try the breakfast at the hotel. So no comments on that. Fairly clean linen. But the room and bathroom interiors need a major facelift. Newer gen younger kids expected more at the rate we were charged.

Rooms are OK. Not much in the way of coffee/ tea/ milk. No Air con and broken fan in the room however did move us to a different room where fan worked so not bad. A little out of the way so not really walkable to the centre of the city and attractions however very close to metro and easy to get metro to anywhere. Close to eateries and shops

The property is what you’d expect of a value chain. The hotel is conveniently located for La Villette events and also convenient for Gare du Nord on the metro.

However the inside is quite dated and a bit dusty, could do with a deep clean. Fine to stay if you’re not planning to spend much time in the hotel!

We stayed at this property for 4 nights to be close to our family but I would rather have taken an Uber every day and avoid this hotel. The A/C was not working and beware when they tell you it’ll be fixed soon because it’s a flat out lie. Not only were the rooms not very clean with little amenities, the staff didn’t do much to compensate for the lack of A/C. They only offered us fans which didn’t do much

Nice and quiet. I slept very well the two night I stayed there.
The breakfast was lovely, great produce!
The mini gym could do with an upgrade, two of the machines weren’t working. The staff were really helpful. I recommend staying there.

We asked for an iron 4 times and the guy on the desk was not polite about it said it’s in a room and he can’t go and get it. Wasn’t very helpful. We had to go out in un ironed clothes.

At breakfast i was asked to sign for payment. I informed them i already prepaid. She insisted and said it was just for her procedure. At check out i asked about this and was told there was no charge. The person at the counter took payment from my deposit. and only after i requested provided me with a detailed bill. The extra charge was indeed added to the bill. So i was lied to twice even after specifically asking. Then a refund was promised only after providing my bank and personal information. This all seems very suspicious and untrustworthy. I doubt my refund will be sent. And can only hope that my information will not be abused.

The hotel advertised the restaurant and bar as available facilities, but that was false. The restaurant and bar is closed. This was frustrating because this is one of the reasons why people like me reserve hotels with restaurants and bars so we dont have to go far to sit and relax.

The gym was not a gym. The gym is located underneath a stairwell. Couple of treadmills, dumbbell rack, and bikes thats it.

The biggest frustration was the restaurant and bar was not available. If its not available, then stop advertising that it is just to get customers.

the older rooms are very bad value for money

The hotel has some rooms that are renovated, and some that are not. I was in one of the old rooms and it was noticeable. The bed was very hard, the decor was very old and the air condition was stuck on “very warm” so I had to turn it off.

Location was excellent.
Premises and facilities were awesome.
However the reception staff are not only rude, unprofessional and condescending.
I am surprised the Mercure Hotel Group are not informed by the eastern european / russian staff who mends the reception and the breakfast venue hosting at on level 10.
They are rude, not only to me but to all guests i was watching.
We dont feel welcome each time we walk in the lobby nor when we have breakfast

Staff were very friendly and offered a room change to allow us early check in. However the actual room was not very clean. The carpet was dirty and had stains. The bathroom had marks on the wall and the toilet had stains down. The stains were rusty looking. The beds were clean and comfy. There was no main light in the room just lots of little lamps. Lastly there was lots of different coffees and teas availible however not everyone drinks that. Hot chocolate and more water should be provided for those who do not drink tea or coffee

Mediocre hotel at high price

Very average hotel, street outside very noisy and the windows don’t protect from this. In room there are tiny paper cups - not suitable for hot drinks but when I rang reception they said they couldn’t provide a cup because the restaurant was closed. A hotel that doesn’t trust its staff to provide cups in the evening doesn’t rate its customers highly either. Tried to pay city tax in cash on arrival, also not allowed as till closed. Room was shabby but clean, bath and sink didn’t empty properly and towels are tiny and pretty old. All in all, avoid and stay somewhere better for the pretty hefty price tag.

Great hotel! Fantastic location extremely close to the Metro and the Zenith which is what we went to Paris for, perfect hotel for this! Great for seeing the local culture which was fascinating on a Saturday night! Always something interesting going on. Room had amazing view. Felt very relieved with the peace and comfort of the hotel, especially after the hustle and bustle of the Metro. Continental part of Buffet breakfast good, cooked breakfast not so good and didn't have the cooked part on the second morning, but a lot of choice nevertheless. The lift uses your card key to operate and didn't always work, but give the card a jiggle and it seemed to work after a few tries! Wifi available and worked. Housekeepers friendly, helpful and left room very clean and tidy with neat beds and tea/coffee etc replenished, thank you! Hotel staff helpful. Hotel full of friendly people! English plug sockets in the room as well as European plug sockets which was helpful. Could get some TV channels in English by changing the language. Overall was a very good trip and would stay again!

Good Location, but left with insect bites

Staff were friendly. Location is right beside the Metro station and convenient.
It was only my 3rd night that I woke up with insect bites on my right arm. 6 bites, doesn't look as bad on camera, but left scars even though I made sure not to scratch the itch. Went down to the front desk, the receptionist was mortified and told me he will get my room checked immediately.

When I came back to the hotel in the afternoon, I was told they've check the room and only found 2 ants on my bed. These bites definitely weren't ant bites. I asked if they had any cream for insect bites, was told that they didn't, but I could head over to the pharmacy to purchase it myself. I decided to change rooms since I did not want to risk getting more bites. The new room looked more like the pictures on this site than the first room I was given. Didn't get bites that night after changing rooms.

Pros and Cons. Pros: Easy access, comfortable bed, service was good. Cons: Air conditioning, while technically functional, was practically useless. The shower leaked and the toilet gurgled when anyone else used the water or when it rained. If you have business at the conservatoire or the Philharmonie then the location is perfect.

Not a 4 star Hotel

I was somewhat misled by the 4 star rating on Orbitz. Now having stayed there for two nights I would hardly call it a 4 star hotel. Certainly not worth the $257/night price tag not including breakfast. Ok so the room generally looks like the pictures you see, look a little closer and what you get is a Motel 6 with some upgraded bed pillows and purple blankets. Everything else is very basic, no frills decor down to the stained carpeting, deteriorating ceiling tiles, reading lights falling out of their sockets and chipped window ledges, this place could use some major maintenance. So for the price definitely not worth it. Otherwise pillows and beds were comfortable and clean. Maid service Howe forgot to replace the towels with fresh ones so had to dry off with hand towels. Property is conveniently located close to La Villette, so maybe that's how they get away with overcharging. If you are looking for. Four star hotel look somewhere else. I'd give it a 2 or 3 star rating at best.

This hotel has an excellent location servicing the needs of the Philharmonie de Paris. Nothing else about it would encourage me to stay there. It is rated 4* but is nearer 2-3 *.Breakfast was the best of service offered. The other restaurant even declined to serve drinks in the lounge. The food was poor, service bad. The bedrooms poor and the bathrooms minimal (no wash cloths, broken plug mechanism, poor quality towels and soaps) has been allowed to run down because of lack of competition. The Mercure at Roissy CDG is a striking contrast. Excellent service and food and well maintained.

2 night business stay in Mercure La Villette

I have stay here previously, but some elements have gone down hill. No Accord points as booked through a broker, one of two lifts functioning for a 10 storey hotel, no ability to book meal in ajoining restaurant to room, restaurant menu very limited, drinks expensive. Needed water at night, 10.5 euros for 3 50cl bottles.

Good price, near gare du nord, leaking shower

The price compared to others was good for an out of town hotel, near to Gare du Nord which suited us. The shower design is awful and leaks out of the bathroom on to the hallway carpet - wet socks. Had to find stuff in the room to use as stepping stones in and out of the bathroom. The AC only pumped out cold air even set at 30C so we turned it off but still very cold room.
The bed was nice and big and comfortable, condiments provided- just would have been nice if they were replenished along with the soap.
A few basic things that need to be addressed.

I was a bit scared after reading the negative coments....but i didnt need to be. Hotel is beautiful and comfortable.Was staying in privilege room with a beautiful view from the window. Outside is a metro taking you straight to the centre of Paris. Staff of hotel very helpful and friendly. When metro was closed due to roadworks they find me alternative route very quickly.....
Breakfast is fresh and yummy. Included in my room price so cant complain that was expensive. Definitely will stay there again...

Stayed here a few times. Nice large rooms, 50 m from Metro (direct to Gare du Nord) and helpful staff. The only letdown was breakfast where the staff were very rude; however, it seems that breakfast is run by a separate company not related to the hotel. But you can go to small supermarket a few metres away and buy some food there. Staff were very helpful and welcoming at the reception desk. Looking forward to my next stay.

We stayed for 5 days at family suite, and we had to change the room as the first one was so small and not renovated, Very strange that they had a good renovated rooms but unfortunately it’s not clean at all and the room service is very bad, the Air-conditioning system was not working and they couldn’t repair, we found some bugs on the bed sheets and pillows and mattress, the room & corridor carpets is really dirty and smell very bad! The elevator is quite old and dirty, staff is rude and not helpful especially the staff at the restaurant is very rude and not professional at all!! Absolutely it’s not 4 start hotel.

The metro station is 100 meters away from the hotel. Location was noisy, room not clean, parking over priced.

disappointing and unpleasant experience

We had booked a room for four adults in the hotel for two nights and came to the hotel at about 2.30PM. The check in time is supposedly 2.00PM. The reception staff totally ignored us and when we ourselves went to one of them, we were told that we should wait for fifteen minutes as the room was not ready. We waited for nearly forty five minutes and the staff did not bother to call us. When I angrily went to enquire about the delay, this time with another staff, he phoned someone and after a long chat gave us a room key. I am fairly sure that the room given to us was a last minute substitution as the room was dirty and the bath room had moulds. The airconditioning was not working and we could not sleep properly. The next morning I reported the problem with the airconditioning to a female staff at the reception before going out. She said that she would send a technician to set it right. But when we returned in the evening nothing had changed. We had no milk in the room to make a cup of tea. The kettle had to be kept on the floor to boil water as the cable was not long enough for the kettle to be kept on the table. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Well placed, good quality hotel

Decent location with the underground 50 yds away, friendly helpful staff and secure parking which was great for a loaded car, bikes, roofbox etc,

Would hapllily stay again, it's about 50 mins to the Eiffel Tower on the tube

comfy beds!!

The staff were very polite and accomodating when we arrived. They also looked after our bag when we checked out because our flight wasnt until the evening.
The only downside is that the room had bits of hairs on the floor which left us wandering if the previous occupants had a pet in there! This made it difficult for the kids to play freely on the floor. This may have been rectified if we had brought it to staff attention but we did not!
The beds are exceptionally comfortable, it made it hard for us to get up in the morning! The hotel is near the Metro train station which was very convenient when getting out and about.
We would recommend this hotel to other families.

Hotel review

We chose the hotel for a one night stop on route back to Calais. All was fine with the hotel but we did not think to check the car park clearance height was ok for our car fitted with a top box. The staff we're helpful trying to find an alternative nearby safe car park but we ended up having to remove the top box and storing it inside the hotel. Hassle we could have done without having had a long drive. We did not have the same problem at a near by hotel during the outward journey. We'll know to check next time!

Best if you are a smoker yourself

I have never before had the need to comment on how polite the staff was, as I have never before had any problems. But in this hotel the staff was rude, indifferent and incompetent. The rooms were nice, but both rooms and hallways smelled badly of smoke and air\"freshener\". Breakfast is very expensive on site, so make sure it is included in your booking. The hotel is nicely located close to a metro station, and there is parking under the hotel. The cost of parking however ended up as 20% of the total bill for four people with breakfast. It is hotels like this that makes me wonder what the stars next to the hotel name means ?

Comfortable, convenient and good service!

My family of four - myself, my wife and two kids - stayed here for 2 nights. The room, with two twin beds and a spacious bathroom, was very clean and had useful facilities such as a safe to store valuables. Located in a nice and safe-looking neighbourhood - not exactly city centre, but given that the Porte de Pantin metro station is a stone's throw away, connectivity to the rest of the city is very good (e.g. 8 min to Gare du Nord, 25 min to Opera). The staff was courteous and helpful and spoke very good English. They allowed us early check-in (1 PM instead of 2 PM). Overall, very pleasant experience.

Good hotel, close to the metro

Our overall experience with this hotel was positive, it does however need to be renovated as the room we had was rather scruffy looking.
