We enjoyed our short stay. It feels “Spanish residential” which we liked, albeit decor is dated.
Checkin was very friendly. Location is good to walk to Sevilla sites including the Alcazar and cathedral (10 mins) Bed was pretty firm but comfortable. We had a small kitchenette which we used, and equipped with an aircon.
We also liked the common roof terrace for a drink or meal overlooking the neighbouring church
The only annoyance was the noisy entry gate that leads in to the property, and the noise of other guests walking past our room which was close to the entry.
Would stay again, due to location and value.

Also needs key to go out and in. If any chance of fire, without a key, cannot get out so have a safety concern.

Hostel was in a great location - everything I needed was in walking distance between the train station, restaurants, and sights. Bed was comfortable and rooftop patio was great, good wifi. The only downside is because it's in the center of town, the building was extremely loud. Nothing the the hosts can really do but people coming and going at all hours of the night and you can hear every conversation or step.

This is your choice if you are after a budget stay. The staff who works at the reception speaks perfect English which makes checking in and out and making enquiries a lot easier. The hostel is also very close to the main tourist attractions.

The desk manager Angel was friendly, helpful, and fluent in English. Trying to navigate the complicated traffic of downtown Seville was a challenge, but at least the Monterena offered private parking nearby. The rooms themselves are within walking distance of the cathedral, the royal alcazar, and other key sights.

Parking was terrible. There is nowhere to park, even for a short time in front of the pensione to offload luggage. I had reserved the day before, and nobody got back to me about parking until 14.00 the day of check-in. I had to park very far from the pensione. The couch, which they claim sleeps two, has support pieces under the padding which fall off (too short). Nobody in the office speaks English or makes the slightest effort to understand English.

old school Spanish pension. Good facilities, pleasant atmosphere, well maintained and clean. Reception staff exceptional - went out of their way to help and give information. Location is fine on the edge of old town with plenty of facilities around. Can be noisy from the street / neighbors. Will depend on who else is staying regarding noise from bathroom. First Room was clean and worked ok , moved to second room that was very small not so ok .
The outside patio was lovely , unfortunately the damn barking dogs made it difficult to enjoy . Little bar and restaurant a block away had good breakfast too.
Easy bus ride to and from train station only a block away too. And 15 min walk to Alcazar

Too much noise from the streets. Plus when the cleaners arrived in the morning, they shouted to each other. So we always woke up. The room was standard but clean. The mattress was ok so it was convenient to sleep. Very difficult to find a parking space (the pension couldn't guarantee a space, however I contacted them to reserve one as advised on their website). The location is good, close to all everything, walkable distances.

Good base in the old town of Sevilla

We stayed in a separate apartment rather that in the Pensión itself. This worked out generally extremely well and the kitchenette was useful. A kettle and a microwave would have been more useful than the small hob which we never actually used. Also, the lights in the kitchen never worked during our stay and the TV wiring was a bit iffy as well.

Good deal for the money

Perfect little place for a traveller that needs a comfy bed and clean shower. Excellent location. Nice staff. I had a small single room and even tho I didn't buy air conditioning it was supplied with a little fan, very helpful in hot weather. Must mind very steep steps and no lift if coming with heavy luggage as I did cos was moving some stuff but overall had a good stay and place was clean and quiet.

A hunting adventure

This hotel was down a warren of narrow lanes off a main street. The cab driver dumped us with few and incorrect directions. A cafe keeper on the corner gave us some directions, and as we got closer another young man saw our puzzled expressions and led us right to the door. It was located in a narrow \"kissing\" lane where sounds echoed mightily, and a group of young people milled in the lobby. We soon met the manager and learned that we would have to climb two steep flights of stairs. He convinces us to stay by taking our baggage to the room. The place is charming, and we had room for our things, but the very new shower leaked. It was central to what we wanted to see and do with interesting street life nearby.

This hostel is absolutely awful, I arrived to find a tiny , dirty cold room with a filthy bedcover and dirty sheets covered in hairs. The tiny rooms which are more like cupboards all open onto the central 3 storey high courtyard, so that all noise travels through to every room, including all of the business in the reception which is in the center, and all the coming and going through front door reverberates through building.Some rooms only have windows opening to this courtyard. The staff was rude, abrupt , defensive and aggressive when challenged about the dirt and asked to change the sheets. The hostel is down a narrow lane on a dark street and not very safe at night. The room I had was tiny, dirty , cold with old draughty windows , very noisy and claustrophobic. No lock only a tiny latch inside to secure the door.No cleaning done.

The location is great, very close to the main Sevilla cathedral, Alcazar, bus station, and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and they even let us store our luggage in a safe location while we spent the day in Sevilla. Staying here you get a feel for what a typical house in the historic center of Sevilla is like, the price was good and I recommend this hostel!

Good for cheap place to stay

It's great if you just need a cheap place to stay. The locks on the doors did not seem very safe and they have shared bathrooms for the different floors. Very hot at night. Very poor quality utilities, but it was super cheap. I'd stay there again-- not the worst place to stay.

Great hotel for apartments at affordable price

The hotel is located in a great location close to many historic sights. We stayed in a family apartment that met all our needs for a great price. The only downside is we didn't know you couldn't drive up to it, so we searched for a while. Find a parking garage nearby and walk to it. Also, the hot water heater was small so we had to space out our showers. Otherwise, it was a great stay at a great price and we will definitely return in the future.

Nice place to stay in central location

The location is relatively close to the Cathedral and walking distance to most of the city's attractions. Since it is located in a rather small alley like street, we found it dificult to find. We did not realize it, but there is an additional 3 euro charge per night for air conditioning (which you definitely need in the summer). We had a five person suite that included a somewhat uncomfortable futton for two that unfolded to that you were basically on a thin mattress on the floor, on a slant. Room was comfortable, and secure. Lobby was a short block away and service was friendly. Overall a good stay for the family.

Apart from the entrance there is nothing nice about this place. The room was like a cell, basic at best. The bathrooms were either out of order or I felt dirtier after I came out. The place is very noisy at night (even the staff!), there is no lounge/communal area and no kitchen. The staff are friendly if you approach them but speak surprisingly little English or any other languages. A tour of the facilities would also have been nice since I only accidentally stumbled on the rooftop on my last night.

We payed 25Euro a night for a twin room with shared bathroom, which is cheaper than most hostals with dorms-beds would charge. There are many bathrooms and one was always available when we needed them. All of them were clean everytime we used them. The staff was helpful (although they all spoke very limited English, they did their best). Locaiton is excellent. You are able to walk everywhere in the city from there. Every sight, restaurants, nightclubs, etc. I will return.

Tiny but clean rooms

Pension Montorena is located an easy 10 minute walk from where the airport bus drop off / bus station. It's in one of the little alley ways of the old Jewish Quarter so a bit hard to find at first; we got a taxi from the bus station which cost 5 euros & took about 4 minutes but saved us the hassle of trying to find the place on our own. The rooms are tiny! Hardly space to open the suitcases but it is cheap so I wasn't expecting much. Room & bathroom were clean & the air-conditioning (costs an extra 3 euros/night) worked really well - it was worth those 3 euros. Some of the staff speak some English - others not so much. They were all friendly & helpful. The roof top terrace only has views of the other roof tops. It was far to hot to be up there during the day in Aug but a pleasant place to sit & have a drink in the late evening or early morning. About what you'd expect in this price range.

Historic Neighborhood

This hotel is great if you are there for the city. The services available are minimal, although the establishment is clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable and cute. Shared bathrooms, AC is an extra add-on. This worked fine for me, as I was not planning on spending a lot of time in the hotel. It is close to everything, I walked everywhere. A useful map was provided and I had a great time exploring the city. The neighborhood it is in is nice, safe, interesting and fun. We had a great view from the rooftop veranda! All the staff that I encountered there were friendly and warm. I had easy access to everything I needed, including grocery stores, restaurants, tourist info, ect.

The whole family loved this hotel. We stayed in one of the apartments and it was exactly what we wanted. Some of our friends stayed in the rooms upstairs and they thought it was a good deal for the price.
The hotel staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. They bent over backwards to assist us with any questions.
Although the hotel isn't the easiest place to find, the folks in Sevilla were nice enough to help us find it. There is no parking to easily access the hotel, but there is a parking lot a couple of blocks away by some awesome restaurants and the park.

great value, clean with very basic, small room, shared bath which was also clean. lovely roof terrace with a view of the Cathedral dome. Staff very friendly and helpful. The Pension is in the medieval Jewish quarter which is very picturesque with narrow pedestrian only streets. I would recommend this pension as good value for the price, considering the cost of hotel rooms in Europe. Within 5-10 minutes walk of all major sites in Seville historic area.

The hotel was difficult to find the first day that is because it is located on a small street where two people side by side do not fit and the street changes names also. then the light in here is yellow and its so depressing it makes you wanna shoot yourself, they tell you its air conditioned but its not im so hot in here im burning and i always get cold easily so for me to be hot you know its hot. the people working here are very loud all the time especially in the morning and they wake you up so many times. Its smaller than the Hostel i stayed at in Madrid a few days ago the Hostal was much better and with friendlier staff and more room and air conditioning. good luck getting your luggage up the very small stairs also. ;-/ I will never stay here again.

Pensión Montorena

The hotel is located in one of the many alley-like back streets. They felt lovely and safe - every corner is well lit. Be warned - in Seville, cyclist ring their bike bells loudly as they cycle down these narrow winding streets so light sleepers should avoid 'alley-hotels'.

This hotel is 3 floors high, compact, has INCREDIBLY thins walls. The people that work there speak virtually NO English. Not a single English sentence. They could understand a minimal amount though.

I booked a single room and ended up with THE smallest room in the hotel is was also 30cm away from the bathroom. I heard everything. Literally. I peeked into other rooms during the cleaning, they were a bit pleasanter.

If you want to spend one night, it's fine. If you want to spend more than two nights, don't go there.

I checked into a hostel a few roads away for less money, a free breakfast, free wifi, a wonderful shower and sociable travellers. None of which I found at the hotel.

I will never try a budget hotel again, it's hostels all the way for me. If you don't mind sharing or can book a private room I can recommend these hostels in Seville. (I visited and stayed in all three) The Samay, The Garden Backpacker and Oasis. There were two Oasis hostels.

Seville is an incredible city. Very beautiful, lots of history and tasty food with a buzzing bistro/bar/pub life. I didn't look for any clubs, I'm afraid. Hope this was helpful. Bye!

Decent location, but you would do much, much better to spend a little more to not have to deal with this place. The rooms are old, terribly furnished, and the shared bathroom on the first floor had the worst shower I had ever used. It was small, and the temperature went from scalding to boiling. My body literally could not withstand the water temperature. On a loud street, with absolutely no insulation to block noise.

Very beautiful atrium with rooms situated around it. Not too far from the Cathedral and the Alcazar.
Room ok size. Good cleaning. However, the heater was never cleaned i assume, the air circulating felt filthy. The room leaked air so you had to have the heater on continuously and at a high temperature to make the room decent. I Imagine it is the same in the summer cooling it. That leads to heavy electrical bills for the Pensión and customers are not happy about temperature in summer or wintertime. I felt sick and it became better when I went out and when I later on continued my tour to Cordoba the problems feeling sick were gone. I know that inner temperature in the winter is lower and air leakage in Spain but this Pensión need to clean the heater.

We are old people. We booked 3 nights. But the stairs in room are broken and not stable.What is very strange is that we had to pay a much higher price first before we could see and change to another room. That is why we made the painful decision to leave the place. We stayed only 1 night, but paid for 3 nights. Until today we
have not got refund. Is there no regulations about this?

Service détestable : limite hostile. On nous annonce le jour de l'arrivée qu'il faut laisser une caution et qu'on a accepté en faisant la réservation (ok, en cherchant vraiment bien, c'est effectivement indiqué, mais il y a des façons de faire et de dire les choses...). On nous assure que ça nous sera rendu le jour du départ. Sauf que le jour du départ, la personne ne parle pas anglais et nous montre un message disant que ça sera remboursé automatiquement. Bilan : je vais devoir passer plusieurs semaines à surveiller mes comptes.
Chambre minuscule. Clim démesurée. Donc on a soit trop chaud, soit trop froid. Pas de couverture, donc la nuit passée à allumer et éteindre la clim. Et je n suis pas le seul : dans les autres chambres à côté, je les entendais toute la nuit allumer et éteindre la leur...

I would recommend installing mirrors to every room, weatherstripes to all doors(for better sound proofing) and a larger trash can to the toilets (more space to put toilet paper as the paper was forbidden to put in to the toilet). Those costs about nothing.

The roof terrace was nice!

Lo que más me gusto es la ubicación y es más lindo de lo que se ve en fotos el lugar.
Lugar tranquilo, precio calidad está muy bien y el personal atento. Te piden 50 euros de deposito pero te lo devuelven cuando te vas al confírmar que está todo en orden.

Cosy hotel with great location

Very cosy hotel/hostel. Staff was supernice and location excellent! The terrasse on the 3 floor was an unexpected surprise. Very cosy with great surroundings. The room was simple but nice.

Heel eenvoudige eenpersoonskamer met genoeg opbergruimte en vijftal kleerhangers.
Je moet wel paar sokken of zo tussen deur stoppen want klappert. Heerlijk bedje.
Ruime patio met tafel en stoelen en sofa’s.
