The hotel is not accessible by Uber due to local restrictions which we were not informed of by the hotel and we had to drag our luggage uphill on cobblestone street which could be avoided if we took a cab from the train station. The staff are friendly and helpful and the room is clean and comfortable however the carpet must be replaced which really tarnished this review.

It is very difficult to get a uber or cab to take you to the hotel. Multiple times the uber got lost and dropped us at the wrong spot. Very desolate at night.
The pictures posted are not accurate. The hotel was nice but think grandmas house. If you want modern this is not your place

Nowhere to park. Booked this hotel because we had a car rented and it says parking on-site. When arriving at hotel we were told the garage was full. They only have spots for 2 cars. So had to park in a paid parking lot 8 min drive away and carry bags. Staff basically said deal with it.

This is a lovely hotel but be aware that it is a very steep climb! There were a couple of things I thought could be improved. There was no water in the room, glasses were taken & never replaced so we had to go & ask for them. The toiletries/ complimentary biscuits were not replaced. For a 4 star hotel I felt these were basics that I would expect.

Located on the top of one hill near the Castello, with access to Alfalfa area, easy to get down to it, harder to get back over too many steps. I wouldn’t drive, the streets ate too steep, too narrow.
The hotel is tidy, staff work their best to accommodate the guests comfortable stay,
However, I must mention to all of the travellers that the hotel’s pictures are deceiving, shows a lot of light, the big windows, access to the individual terraces or, at list, the overlooking terrace for the all guests. The terrace, where you could have a cup of coffee or glass of vino while enjoying the sunset is Not existing. You will have to step out of the hotel on the street across the hotel. The pictures on the hotel’s sight shows the suits on the last floor, the 4th one.They serve the decent breakfast on the first floor, that feels a bit crammed into the smaller area. I liked their table settings. Very clean and well arranged.
Our room was on the first floor, much is the second for North Americans. The windows were facing the street and the building across. You could hear every sound coming from underneath and there were a lot of them, as people are coming back after party or from work. The AC was very noisy, but it could not cover the street noises at night. I would recommend to book the room at the higher level or away from the street, if possible. The receptionist comp help us, as hotel is smaller and was fully booked.

Perfect location- it is central to Alfama excitement on a quiet residential street. We were generously upgraded to a balcony room and it had some of the best views of the city. Do note that because it’s a residential street rideshare companies cannot drop you off there so it is best to coordinate with the hotel to pick you up from the airport so you don’t have to drag your luggage up the hill.

I loved the location, really nice to hear all birds waking us up in the mornings. Customer service was excellent and bedrooms are really nice. It was a place where we rested and sleep really good in a very noisy city. It is a gem for those seeking the city experience but also, relaxation. We walked up and down and it was lovely and easy (but we are used to long hikes and walks). Restaurants nearby also great! Breakfast was ok, not super yummy but ok.

We reserved a junior suite and were assigned Room 302. The room was spacious and quiet, with a terrific large terrace with spectacular views. TV was quite small and placed so as not to be watchable from the beds. Don’t understand the rave reviews for the breakfast - it would be fine, but nothing special, for a stay of a day or two, but limited selection with absolutely no variation day to day made it pretty poor for our six-day stay. Hot food was limited to scrambled eggs, baked beans and bacon every day.

Rooms are very clean superbly decorated with 2 chairs to sit and relax inside and a fantastic view from the seated outside area. Breakfast was great with a lot of choice from cooked to cereal, pastries. Lovely staff. Eating places near by although on a hill next to the castle everything is in walking distance, even the Tram 28 goes by a little way from the hotel. Would definitely stay here again and recommend.

The views were lovely and the room was spacious. The breakfast that was included was good with fresh pastries, fruit, cheese & meats.

The design felt a little more dated than some other properties we stayed at in Portugal, but it was still nice. Staff were attentive and efficient.

Both elevators were not working when we arrived- luckily we were on the 2nd floor so the walk with our luggage wasn’t too bad.

The street is for local traffic only at some times, so although we got dropped off right in front when we arrived, we had to walk a little bit with our luggage to meet the taxi when we left.

Nice boutique hotel in good condition. Location doesn't allow taxis to drop you off in front of hotel; you need to walk 60-70 yards uphill on very rough cobblestone street from drop off spot. Great location in Alfamba with shops, restaurants and bars in all directions. Great breakfast but hours are 7:30 to 10:00, so often we were not able to use it. Most tours require you to be at a pick-up location before 8AM.

Great little traditional hotel in a good location near the castle. Room was a good size and breakfast had good options and was regularly replenished.
As it is on the top of the hill, it is quite a steep walk up from the town but we didn’t mind that.

Staff weren't super friendly except for the one who checked me out today. The hotel is gorgeous but does need a lot of updating. It's in a good spot but be aware that Ubers are not allowed to the door. You will have to hike up the hill u less you take a taxi.

The area is not walkable, the hotel is located at the top of a hill but the views are gorgeous, though.
The hotel should warn guests that Uber can't get to the hotel due to local regulations and should advise guests to have a taxi instead. I was dropped off some 200 yarda and had to walk uphill with all my and my wife's luggage. But after this little incident, everything was smooth, Luis at the front desk was very helpful with reservations and calling taxis for me. The hotel room was very spacious and luxurious. Overall, a great stay.

A very nice hotel and friendly staff. The view was wonderful and in the area were restaurants and transport and some small supermarkets. We really loved the stay but the only thing which we would of changed is that it was very quiet on Christmas eve in the hotel. There was nothing going on in the way of entertainment which was a shame. The area is very quiet and it's a bit of a walk to and from the centre up and down hills. There are trams from the square and a tuk tuk transfer costs 10 euros each way. The tuk tuks are bumpy but you get a lot of information from the drivers. On the whole a lovely stay in a lovely hotel.

WiFi in our area of the hotel did not work. On the occasion we could “connect” we could not look anything up on the internet.

Our bathroom door did not close. Water damage along floor edges in bathroom.

Traveler be aware, this is at the top of a hill. The street it is on has a barrier that not all uber drivers can get through. We had to drag our luggage uphill for the last two or three blocks to check in. And the castle on Google looks very close by, but it is a 10-15 minute walk to get there. FYI.

Everything is excellent about this hotel - warm and friendly staff, beautiful rooms, beautiful views, etc. Except for one, unacceptable blatant lie about having \"Family Friendly Laundry Facilities\" that is false advertising pure and simple There are none to speak of. Only dry cleaning/laundry services. This forces one to either pay hotel prices for laundry services per item or spend half a day in the city of seven hills to carry your laundry to a laundromat somewhere.

This blatant lie is not limited to this hotel. In 6 European hotels I stayed in during September and October, ALL OF THEM engaged in this false advertising. According to Expedia customer service, there is a checkbox that hotels mark if they have such facilities. I suspect there are hundreds or thousands of such hotels on Expedia that engage in this deception and have asked Expedia to find a way to rectify this - providing stiff penalties for lying about property amenities or whatever they come up with.

Up on the hill

Excellent hotel with beautiful views of Lisbon. Bear in mind it very high up on the hill - so cobbled stones and lots of walking - take good walking shoes.
Nice staff who were very helpful. Breakfast was good. We ordered takeway online and we were in the best location for all the food places so they came quick. Hotel toiletries were a fragrant brand and can be found in a store in belem.
We had a balcony which had beautiful views - sunset and midnight sky.
There is a lift / escalator at the end of the road - make sure you use it to go down to the city centre and come back up. The old castle - Castelo de São Jorge is walkable from the hotel - lovely views and stunning peacocks who love on the grounds.
