I stayed in room 603 and the bathroom sink had very low/slow water flow, when left the water running for more then 1 minute, it started leaking around the drain and eventually spilled onto the floor.

The property is in major need of renovations. The rooms, and hallways, need paint, updated furniture, and window treatments. Also, the website mentions a bar and sitting area. There is no bar, and the sitting area does not allow food or drinks (non-alcoholic) to be brought in.

Booked room with 2 beds and was told at check in I didn’t despite clear proof. They made me deal with it through the 3rd party booker I used and still haven’t issued a refund. Stay away at all costs. The same thing happened to several others and seems like it might be purposeful

So many things were right with this hotel. Great location, friendly staff, comfy bed and pillows. Our king room was spacious by any standards but especially big for NYC. The ONLY negative would be the worn furnishings. In fact, if the replaced the fabric headboard on the bed (which was stained and scratched), we would have probably not even scrutinized the rest of the furnishings. All in all, excellent stay!

Rooms were clean but there were signs of some wear and tear. Quiet for NYC as we were not facing the street. There were moments of pungent marijuana odor my husband smelled. Front desk staff were courteous and friendly. We loved the location and will be back in the future. Great value for where we were in the city.

When I checked in they slapped a new fee on the bill!

The room was very small and shabby.

Then 15 minutes after I was setting into my room someone tried to open my door and maybe had a key. Good thing I had bolted it! That was a first in bad hotel experiences. No real apologies from the hotel. Never again Hotel 57

I expect a lot more for a hotel that’s $300 a night. The beds were quite uncomfortable, both not soft, and sinking, woke frequently on it in the night. The room was spacious for New York but bare bones. The shower was a bathtub with high walls and a loud creaking sound when you stood on it, sink had old school style hot and cold knobs with one side installed backwards so you’d always get confused about how to adjust the temperature of the water. Staff could have helped a lot more at check in and should have stated plainly that the only way to drive up with a car to check in would be to temporarily stand with four ways on in a bus only lane, and that the bellman can only come out to help with bags if you’re parked there. The hotel was in a convenient location and we only stayed there to sleep, spending the rest of our time elsewhere, so we got the bare minimum with not much in the way of comforts. I wouldn’t book another stay here.

Some things I didn’t like. For example, in addition to the taxes they charge a fee per night. Other hotels do this too, but they usually offer some kind of benefit in return. Here, they offer nothing.

The fire alarm went off while we were sleeping, and we came downstairs scared. The firefighters arrived; fortunately, nothing serious happened and we were able to return to our rooms. However, there were many guests in the lobby, and some employees were very rude. They wanted us to move, but the lobby is so small that the only place we could go was outside, into the snow, and being in pajamas made it very difficult.

There is an area in the lobby that remains closed; they should open it so guests have space to stay. They also did not allow us to have a late check-out. I will not stay there again.

On your web site you stated there was a restaurant in Hotel 57: one year ago that was closed. For Breakfast there was just a McDonald’s next door. Several coffee shops but without seating on their premises. Rooms very small & no room for a comfortable chair in room. Room clean & good bathroom. Excellent location for East side of NYC.

Room felt neglected, staff wasn't great, our windows were duct taped shut, half of the plugs in our room didn't work, the hallway was always full of carts (then it was an inconvenience when we needed to pass with luggage), vacuums and other things, the laundry area was wide open and had holes in the walls and it had less than one ply toilet paper in it. I expected significantly more from a nice hotel. With the exception of the check in area, it truly felt like a motel.

Room needs deep cleaning, corners, edges and under edges needed a good vacuum/damp wipe down. Air-conditioner/heater worked great but noisy. Staff was not always seen, and they did not greet on regular bases. No doorman.
Quiet hotel even on 4th floor except the night between sat-sun nightclub downstairs boomed through till 6am, not just hearing it but feeling the resonation of loud music in the elements of the building.

It was not the hotel’s fault, it was actually Expedia’s (or at least that’s what they said).

I booked a double bed room, because i was traveling with my friend and when i went there for my check in, the lady in the front desk said they had no more of those rooms available.

This is actually not the first time something happens to me with Expedia - every single time i book something i go into the property and they never give the room i payed for.

While the property appears to have undergone a recent renovation, the room itself felt noticeably worn and insufficiently maintained, calling into question the quality and durability of the refurbishment. This is not the first occurrence—particularly when booking through Expedia—where I have been assigned a distinctly undesirable room at this hotel, which gives me serious pause about both returning to the property and continuing to use Expedia for future reservations.

That said, the housekeeping attendant was exceptional—thorough, professional, and clearly committed to upholding cleanliness standards. Unfortunately, her efforts were undermined by broader facility and maintenance shortcomings. Additionally, I intend to review the so-called “facility fees,” as they lack transparency and appear unjustified for guests who do not utilize the amenities, potentially placing the property at odds with recent legal scrutiny in New York City regarding hidden fees.

Fire alarm went off at 8:11 AM. I woke up in a panic, packed my bags and when it was safe I ran out. Did not even take a shower. Very bad experience. Scared on the 7th floor with bags and luggage. Just wanted to get out safely ASAP. I request a refund.

When I checked in, the receptionist was poor also. Early check in was $200 which is ridiculous. There is no system in place to let you know your room is ready early.

The air conditioner/radiator exploded in the middle of the night and flooded my room. I had to pack up and move rooms at 1am while maintenance staff stood in my room and provided no help. Not one staff person offered to help me with my belongings. Ended up having to move rooms 3x as they got me into an appropriate room and no one ever offered to assist me in moving my luggage.

I do not recommend this hotel at all. While I don't mind they don't offer Food and Beverage, they didnt have a water bottle when I got into my hotel late at night either to purchase or just provide me. A bottle of water? I don't understand how any hotel would expect their patrons to bring their own water while traveling. Ridiculous.
