The property is close to the beach but you have to walk through another property/restaurant to get to the beach which I found odd. The restaurant was good, room was clean, the door didn’t stay closed properly unless it was locked but that was fine. They overcharge for the drinks in the minifridge considering there’s a 711 right next door where you can buy the drinks for a fraction of the cost.

The young lady in particular who checked me in and helped arranged a snorkelling trip was excellent. I was amazed, when I commented how good her English was, that she was elf taught from a book. She had a great smile and waved when I walked past. A really lovely welcoming feel.

Thought the room wasn’t very clean. I ordered a room with a king size bed and all I got was 2 double beds pushed together. Mattress were very old and not comfortable at all. I think this room was set up for a room with 2 double beds not for a king size bed. Bathroom toilet seat was almost broken off. The breakfast selection was very limited especially when I paid the extra money for the breakfast to be included. It was a last minute booking so guess I get what I pay for. It was just somewhere I could lay my head until I could find a better place. I stayed for 2 nights and checked out.

Very nice and friendly staff and Greek resturant enclosed great.
Toilet/bathroom ensuite too small for 3 or 4 persons. Shower positioned facing toilet which soaks everything. Room otherwise adequate and good position for hotels/beach and shopping district. Fair price for stay.

The staff was amazing and so friendly. The rooms were big. But that’s where the positives end. The bathrooms were the worst that I have ever seen and smelled. They put moth ballls in the drain to mask the smell, which just made it repulsive. I desperately tried to not have to use our bathroom because I was scared to breath in the black mold and mouth ball air, which made the stay very unpleasant. Location to the beach was good but the beach was dirty and Full of garbage.

Close to chaweng beach

The hotel restaurant was cute and nice. It’s located right across chaweng beautiful beach. The hotel staff was helpful and the room was spacious. The main thing I didn’t like was the bathroom, toilet got clogged and shower was splashing water everywhere since it has no curtain and is situated right near toilet so toilet got wet too.
Hotel staff helped me book speed boat to other islands which was nice and any questions I had they were helpful.
The location although right near beach is not as close walk to night life bars or shopping mall/ main part of chaweng beach near ark bar. It’s nice for some quiet at night but there are some hotels still quiet and near the main part of chaweng beach to walk to or night life/ more restaurants instead of overcharged taxis unless you rent bike :)

The location of the hotel to Chewang Beach is great. Not on the beach but you walk through across the street. The price was right and i extended my stay a few nights. The layout of the hotel is interesting. I was in a newer section across the parking lot. AC was good and kept the place cool. Chairs and deck in front of the room was a nice place to relax.

Limited front desk hours but Kun and the other staff were all friendly and helpful. I had an early morning checkout to catch my flight and it wasn’t an issue. I rented a scooter from them for a few days and it was easy through them. They ask for a large deposit or your passport on checkin.

Spotlessly clean hotel with great value

Very friendly staff welcomed us with welcome drinks and smiles. Very nice people. The Hotel and the room was spotlessly clean. Wifi was one of the best that I got in Thailand. They mentioned to me that they recently upgraded their wifi system. I got 100 MB per second download speed. Definitely worth the price I paid and would highly recommend.

Not bad for the price but the air conditioning is practically useless as there was huge gaps around the door frame ( on all rooms that I saw) so it never really got cold.,owners dog barks every time somebody comes home at night so bring ear plugs .. otherwise location up the hill but 10 minute walk to the centre and the sun tails run all the time

On check in for one night the staff insisted on keeping one of our passports. No biggie but weird as we have not had that experience anywhere else in Thailand. Couldn't get an early check in so we had lunch nearby as the Greek restaurant seemed very expensive. We got placed in a room near the back of the property that stank of sewage. The staff moved us right away which was appreciated. That being said, the beds were hard as rocks and literally had sand on the sheets. It seemed like the beds got made without out putting fresh sheets on them after the last tenants checked out. Overall a run down hotel, would definitely not stay again.

Hotel is very good value- the room was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was serviceable but needs updating. Beach is just a one minute walk away, but you have to cross a busy road. Beach area is very developed and commercialized - not our taste. I can’t recommend the Greek restaurant that is connected to the hotel- our dinner was awful, but the manager didn’t charge us for the food after we explained our issues. We chose not to eat breakfast there.

Nice hotel with friendly staff. You get what you pay for so don't expect luxury accommodations. 7-11 is right next to hotel and everything is within walking distance. Beach is few minutes away and Central mall is only 15 minutes away. Overall great place to stay with your friends :)

P.S. Wifi was not working really well, but you're better off using AIS unlimited 4G anyway :)

Staff at this hotel are amazing; welcoming and helpful. Details are looked after here. Rooms and areas are very clean. My room was spacious and comfortable. WiFi worked great - no problems at all. The beach is literally across the street. Lots of places to eat nearby within walking distance. Do yourself a favour and stay here. And if you plan on doing any tours book through the hotel

I stayed here last night. The room was clean and the staff were awesome. One guy gave me advice on where to go to relax and how much to pay for the taxi. The other hotel guy went with me across the road to rent a moped. This was really nice because I was worried about getting cheated. Now I'm riding around the island exploring the sights. Definitely recommend this place for the price and the individual room.

My experience was wonderful, a very good location from the beach ( approximately 2 min walk) and very close from the centre of Chaweng ( approximately 10 min walk) and there are shops and massage places right next to the hotel. The rooms are very spacious and very clean.My favorite part of my experience was the staff members. In particular Cumhur, Arda and Diaan. They made me feel like i was at home since the first moment I stepped in the hotel, they were always available to help me for any questions/informations/directions I needed to know about the area and very cool people to just sit down and have a normal conversations about life and have a good laugh. I definitely recommend this place to anyone, families, couples and singles.

PS: They make the most amazing homemade ice tea i have ever had!

The hotel is in a good location - close to the beach and within walking distance of the busy part of Chaweng Beach town.
The hotel is dated, but has everything you need.
The wifi was consistently down, management was eager to restart it frequently, but I think it is just a poor system overall.
The breakfast buffet at the restaurant is not worth it.
If you are on the top floor the balconies are nice.
Good place if you have your own sim card for Thailand, and plan on eating at nearby restaurants.

This is hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the lively Chaweng beach. It's close enough to the action but not in the congested middle of downtown so the rooms are quiet After staying at some budget places around Thailand I was very satisfied with the Lotus hotel. The rooms were clean and cleaned daily (not something usual) for budget hotels in Thailand. The staff went out of their way to make it comfortable and were VERY nice. Also there is a 7-11, small restaurants, cheap laundry service, bike rentals and travel agents within 20 meters/yards. There is also parking available. My trip was supposed to be 2 nights but am currently on the 4th and love the hotel.

Hotel was in great location a few minutes walk to beach. However rooms have no safe to put valuables in and the glass doors to each room are not very safe because they don't shut properly. the shower water goes everywhere in the bathroom, even over the toilet. Staff are quite helpful and friendly.

Water contaminated due to broken pipe . They should not have rented the room as they new there was a problem . We had to change rooms . Otherwise ok but not the friendliest people . Very hard to find hotel . Restaurant only western food which was strange for thailand .

Clean, simple and close to the beach.

This place was recommended by a friend who stayed one night while passing through Koh Samui. She recommended it because you can walk to the beach very easily and it was clean and simple.

She was right about all three things. You can also walk towards all the action or hail a quick cab if you need to.

I will say the beds are rock hard so prepare yourself but I think that is the norm in most hotels in Thailand. Also, DO NOT EAT the food at the restaurant attached. I mean you can but I would not recommend it. No one got sick however the two items we did order, the Turkish sandwich (alright) and the burger (terrible). There is better food to be had on the island don't waste your money!

Close to airport but not good enough

I stayed at the Lotus for one night, choosing it for its proximity to the airport and seemingly good value. However, my room was cheap for a reason.

I was in a block separate from the reception building, very dated/basic room and furniture. Aircon struggled to cope with the size of the room. The shower wasn't very powerful, it was very difficult to control the temperature (either cold or blisteringly hot) and it was awkward to use.
Breakfast was included and supposed to start at 8.30 but when I got in there at 8.45 it wasn't ready and there wasn't even any coffee ready, I was simply offered instant, so I just went straight to the airport and had breakfast there.

Positives were that room was clean, bed was comfortable and staff friendly.

I'd happily spend more money on one of the more modern hotels in the area next time.

First trip to Samui Island

The Lotus Friendly Hotel is a great place to stay for budget type traveller, they have warm friendly staff and the owners were very accommodating to ensure my stay was comfortable.

There are two buildings, and my recommendation is to book superior room in the building closest to reception.
Ryan and Adam the owners are friendly and accommodating, they can assist with any tours or things to do on the island.

A small hotel with nice restaurant. The beach is just 1 min walk. The center is close too. Its about 10-15 minutes walk to the center. Or you can just rent a bike across the road or get a taxi infront of the hotel. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. If you book your room without breakfast dont worry. You can still pay for the breakfast at the reception if you want.

Right on Khoa San Road. Great value for money.

It is set back from Khoa San Raod but the entrance is right on the street. As such you can hear the bass and drums of the party music until 2am. I am not a partier and it did not bother me. The rooms are nice and well worth it. I just booked my second stay there for a couple weeks.

Great value for money

Lotus Friendly Hotel is great value for money. The room was big, clean and the bed was really comfortable. We had breakfast included in our room rate too. Which was delicious.
It was our first time in Koh Samui, so we didnt knew what to do. Thanks to the front dest staff they gave us amazing tips what to do or where to go. Definitly recomended if you are looking for a clean, comfortable room, good location and friendly staff.

The room was big. The slid door was unsafe, the lock can be forced to unlock and access to the room. Bathroom without hand towel. The water from the shower head was coming like pins, it hurts your body, very cheap shower head. The furniture old. Not all light bulbs are working. If you leave the room everything will stop working, so if you put water in the fridge, the water will become warm when you come back.
In the morning we went to have our breakfast and we were expecting a buffet, but the staff gave us a menu and told us you can order either omelette (3 or 4 types) or French toast (3 or 4 Types) and we had to accept it. Second day was the same. The Omelette was about 2-3 mm thick. On the third day, we requested Omelette but they said today you can not have what is in the menu because we have a buffet. We looked at what they offered and was poor buffet, very limited options in small containers. I said to the staff that we want Omelette, they said no you can not, go to the reception. Went to the reception and asked for Omelette, the manager said you can not today. I said you forced us to eat omelette in the last two day and you forcing us to eat from the buffet today. His reply was: because we did not have enough guests, we decided to give you the omelette or the French toast. The buffet will be a waste if we do not have enough guests.
None of their staff smiled during our stay and they still call it friendly hotel !!!!

Helpful guys on front desk

It was a pleasant stay for us.The guys are really helpful on front desk.Helped us all about travelling the island.Breakfast was also good.Location is great.As a result we enjoyed our stay and extended 2 more nights.And planning to be back here again.
