The WOTIF booking confirmation stated \"The front desk is open daily from 10:00 AM - 10 PM\" so I was shocked to be berated for being late on my arrival. While I had stated I would be there at 3pm, there were a number of delays during my trip. I did not appreciate the way I was spoken to on arrival (maybe organise self check-in like every other self-managed property in the world). As well I was probably able to find the bathroom and see there was a bath. A compendium would be more appropriate to assist guests.
The property calls itself a \"Bed and Breakfast which according to definition includes breakfast. It was one of the reasons I chose that property however the breakfast was only included for an extra payment. I consider that this is a \"bait-and-switch\" strategy and very misleading. I left without breakfast!!!
The internet is not useable and I was unable to manage my emails/do anything on the net while at the property. There is no TV in the room. The room I stayed in was too small for 2 people. The door to the bathroom does not close so not much privacy if you are sharing with another person.
I was told there is something wrong with the shower and I decided to take a bath. The blind to the bedroom closes but is almost impossible to open.
During my stay I found the noise from other people who were staying to be quite loud esp in the room above me. Caroline did respond quickly and then the house was very pleasant.
Overall it was expensive and poor value at $189.80.

Caroline and Robert made us very welcome. The property is so beautiful and quiet, away from suburban noise, but close enough to get to sporting facilities etc easily. We loved retreating there after busy, noisy days. I appreciated the guest lounge/kitchen area and being able to prepare packed lunches for my kids or play board games. The abundant bird life was beautiful. Finally, having French breakfasts complete with homemade jams and sauces was divine. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Caroline & Robert are wonderful, friendly & communicative hosts who cater to client requests & do their best to ensure client content.

The property is scenic, located out of town, in a quiet & serene area; great place to wind down!

The accommodation is a gorgeous renovated Queenslander property; rooms are clean, comfortable & beautifully furnished - excellent!

The property was just so great for relaxing. Many diverse areas in and around the house and property to sit and chill or common areas to meet new people. Bed was so comfortable. Caroline and Robert are lovely hosts. Suggestion: send kids of to bed and pay the extra for the french (candlelight) dinner Robert prepares, don't forget to bring your own favourite bottle of wine. Robert a french chef loves to talk you through the meal preparation. Breakfasts are beautifully prepared and ample. We had no need to head out anywhere for the day, just relaxed around the pool, short walks and lounge around, perfect place to get away and chill. Thank you Caroline and Robert for a lovely weekend, we will be back.

The location and surroundings was beautiful and peaceful. You were still close to town, but felt like you were miles away. The owners provided great service. Having breakfast with the birds each morning was definitely a highlight.

This is the 3rd time i have stayed at the Riviera B and B. Robert and Caroline are the loveliest people you could meet. I'm always looked after as if i was part of the family!! The cleanliness and homliness of the property are 2nd to none. It is a breath of fresh air..the serene and tranquil setting of the property make it a wonderful place to relax or if you need to concentrate for work it is so quiet. From the chickens and ducks on the property to the wildlife you enjoy a lovely country feel while the shops are still close enough to access easily. My dog loves it too and is made as welcome as i am. This is my new home away from home..i've already booked to go back in December as i don't want to miss out!! Merci Caroline and Robert!!

The hosts had forgotten about our booking and we were not made to feel welcome at all even after it was verified. I was asked to provide my mobile no. so the other host could ring me because she \"didn't know who I was\". The facilities are run down, and our bed had a doona without a cover, the bins were unlined, and there was religious paraphernalia littering the establishment which made us uncomfortable. When we arrived back from our function, one of the hosts was sitting outside our room waiting, which was very intrusive. The room was stuffy and hot, with only a small fan and no security if the windows were open. The bathroom facilities were not completely functional, and after over-explanation by the hosts we were confused as to whether we were actually able to use the shower or not. Overall a very unpleasant experience and would not recommend to others.

The place is nice, calm and romantic. But the breakfast was disappointing, continental breakfast, lots of jams on the table but no bread. Then, the owner offered to make ham, tomato, cheese toast. We accepted and was charged 20 dollars for two !!!!!!

We enjoyed our two night stay very much. Our hosts were friendly, welcoming and great breakfast companions.This B&B is charming and homely, and is situated most conveniently between the Gold Coast and mountain destinations such as Springbrook. The location was peaceful and quiet.

This was such a pleasant surprise, particularly for the price. Waking up to the beautiful rainforest surrounds was gorgeous. The hosts were lovely and made a delicious brekkie. Would definitely like to stay again. One night wasn't enough!

Feel at home in paradise

Riviera B&B is a beautifully manicured piece of paradise, with butterflies, birds and lush greenery all around. The pool is beautifully kept and was a hit with my little man. Caroline and her family are genuine in their care and love for their home and this is easily felt. They also have a genuine warmth and care for their guests which allowed us and others staying there to feel welcome, relaxed and at home. Having breakfast served on the gorgeous deck upstairs each morning, looking over the pool and beyond, was also a real treat.

A relaxing drive away from the bustle of the coast

The atmosphere was friendly and relaxing, a reflection of our hosts and family. We enjoyed meeting a range of different people who added to the overall atmosphere being pleasant to talk with and yet giving lots of privacy and space as they relaxed too. It was lovely walking around the gardens, seeing the ducks, chooks and range of bird life. Lovely

Charming accommodation in the Gold Coast Hinterlan

Riviera Bed and Breakfast was a wonderful choice for our short get away. The owners have a gift of making you feel welcome, our room was furnished tastefully in French countrystyle; a comfortable bed with good linen; the adjacent bathroom was squeaky clean and elegant, good fluffy towels. A large indoor area was available for guests to sit and relax, watch television, read or make a cup of coffee or tea.

We thought that a B&B meant room and breakfast but after purchasing a night stay was sent an email to say that breakfast would be $10. Also we were offered dinner for $35pp ,one course and expected that at that price it would be a very flash dish but were presented with a plate of rice and french casserole and green beans that I would expect to pay about $14-$18 for.I was shocked to pay $70 for this meal.Very disappointed. the room was clean and comfortable but the light shade was broken and a folded bed was along the wall with a blanket thrown over it as if it was storage.Very nice friendly people and the surrounds were nice.
We were told our room had been upgraded but then the host told us that she was trying to sort the issue of the toilet of one room being right next to the bedhead of our room. I had not heard the noise but my husband later told me he had heard the flushing and the people in the other ensuite.I do not think that is an upgrade.

Beautiful setting beautiful birds

We had a lovely time at the Riviera. It was a joy to share breakfast on the gorgeous deck while watching the cockatoos, finches and kookaburras feed. Our hosts were generous with their time and made us feel very welcome. I'd love to go back when I have more time to stay longer.

Natural, peaceful environment.

Lovely spot for a serene break from it all. Wonderful to have birds come by to visit on the verandah during breakfast and have then eat out of your hand if you wish. Rooms were comfortable and clean.

a pleasent surprise

We booked a room in this charming b&b at Gilston behind Nerang 15 minutes away from the gold coast depending on traffic and time of the day,we had discovered a rare gem ,not only in the setting, but also in the service provided by Caroline and Robert the owners of riviera bed and breakfast set in bush land filled with bird life and other critters common to the bush .
we elected to have dinner and breakfast there ,simply for a change from crowded restaurants,and were pleasently surprised at the fare on offer,robert cooks for the pleasure of cooking his cooking is [provencal and nicois] home cooking a la francaise ,the ratatouille was out of this world ,the lamb served on a bed of rice with green vegetables tasted like no other lamb i have ever tasted,at breakfast we had coffee with a choice of juice toast and home made marmalade,but the tour de force was the omellette prepared the night before with secret ingredients,the omellette was worth the trip on its on,we will definitely be back

I don't believe I have ever been able to say that I truly enjoyed any hotel or B&B until my stay here. My girlfriend and I recently spent an amazing weekend in this beautiful old Queenslander. We were greeted by the beautiful owner Caroline and her son Stephano and immediately made to feel like one of the family. This was my girlfriends first time in a B&B and like me was blown away by the location and the hospitality. The room was beautiful and facilities first rate, breakfast on the balcony is a must, beautiful food and awesome company. Arrived as strangers but left as friends.

Holiday from hell!

Booking was lost so had to spend first night at another place with no reception. Came back next day and had to wait 5 hours to get into room and had to listen to the owners bicker all day. Every time we tried to get a meal at the place the owner came up with a new excuse. 24 hours notice for dinner??? Are you kidding me?? I had to go to coles and buy $50 worth of food because the owner wouldn't feed us. She had overbearing rules and made us feel like an burden. We left for home 2 days early and told her to keep the money. I was happy to pay $220 to get as far away from her as possible. When I told the owner I was leaving all she cared about was booking the room for that night even though I had paid for 2 extra nights. We tried to be understanding at first and were happy to be mellow but she took advantage of our good nature. She constantly left the hotel unattended with guests running it. I was the only one around to greet new guests and had to explain to them I was not the owner. Its places like this that give Bed and breakfasts a bad name. Also she was going to charge us the same for dinner as weekends and even admitted to us she doesn't put in any effort on weekdays. Hope she goes out of business the way she abused our good nature.

Great Place/Great Family

Caroline is a wonderful hostess. The breakfasts are hot and fresh. make sure to try the strawberry jam! Her family is beautiful, friendly and accommodative. They make you feel right at home. Their French heritage is refreshing and the rooms have a French villa feel to them. I watched her son hold and feed a Cookooburo right out of his hand, no joke! See the website for a video of it. Bird watch while you eat breakfast on the patio above the pool. They fly right up to the deck, not more than 10 feet away. The view is breathtaking, the beds are clean and comfortable, the baths are excellent. Make sure to ask for the honey moon sweet, if available. Thanks for a wonderful stay! Hope to return in the near future.
