Great neighborhood with tons of shops and restaurants. Hotel was quiet. Our room was spacious and beautifully appointed. Even the trash can was made of marble! Will definitely stay again and highly recommend this charming boutique hotel.

Everything was perfect. Location was beautiful. Near multiple fancy restaurants and just three blocks away you had food stands that were clean and you could find anything you could think of. From gorditas, huaraches, sea food and even fresh juices. The hotel was clean, and perfect for those instagram photos. Personnel was professional, respectful and kind. Breakfast was limited but just what we needed. Will definitely be staying here again. IG @jaaaaaaaneth

Gracious boutique hotel in the heart of Polanco

This was one of the nicest hotel stays we have ever had. Accommodations were beautiful and every member of staff went out their way to make sure we felt at home. My friends and I stayed here for our annual girls trip and The Alest Hotel was the right choice. They were so thoughtful (extra water bottles and toiletries) and kind. Truly a great experience. Quiet, great area to walk around and lots of dining options close. Great breakfast included with our stay. Would highly recommend.

Our stay at The Alest Hotel was incredibly mixed.

On the positive side the hotel is aesthetically pleasing, had a lovely Christmas atmosphere and has some good touches like the Mexican candies on arrival and a restocked minibar each day. We also had good interactions with a number of members of staff including the breakfast waiters and housekeeping.

However, on a negative side and what’s drags the rating down is the level of noise in the rooms at the hotel and the lack of appreciation or action by the concierge/reception staff towards this.

The rooms are advertised as soundproofed and this is not the case. The windows are French style doors which have glazing but do not seal effectively and the door does not fit the doorframe (due to the unique shape selected for the doors) and is hollow thus does not block noise. This caused us issues on 3/6 nights due to the level of noise in our room being too loud to sleep, on two nights this could be heard through headphones.

The issue as we see it is that the interior void/courtyard leads directly down to the bar and restaurant with no noise separation. In my view two things should be true; that you can enjoy a restful night in the rooms, and people should be free to enjoy the bar. Sadly the hotel has not equipped itself to allow both.

As the hotel had no interest in resolving the issue and the way our concerns were dealt with in our view this was not a customer service focussed hotel.

I couldn’t recommend this hotel.

The hotel is beautiful, modern and new. The rooms are on the small side but very comfortable. The service was 5 star, very nice staff and accommodating to my requests. Ameneties include daily breakfast served to table, mini bar and mexican sweets in your room. One thing to note is based on the room type, my room didn’t have a window outside - it was nacing an indoor space so there was not a lot of light.

What a lovely experience! Luis arranged the best tours for us. Gave helpful dining recommendations. Everything was within walking distance. Great with teenagers always looking for something to do or eat. The staff were kind, and helpful to my entire family that booked 3 rooms for 4 days.
The only thing that could improve was the dining. Breakfast selections in the included breakfast were not great, and honestly we preferred to leave and eat elsewhere or just eat a granola bar instead. After staying at the Four Seasons in April this location is much better, service on par but food selections are weak in comparison.

I had such a wonderful experience at The Alest hotel. The staff was so kind and attentive. The room was always clean and stocked. They had great robes (I love hotels with robes). All was great until I got to my room at night and it was not cleaned. Receptionist was not able to help given it was late. I’m staying in the hotel again this weekend and I have mixed feelings given this experience. I would have probably cancelled it, if I had time to look for an alternative and the cancellation fee was not applicable.
