First let me say that I felt safe and secure at this location. I’m from a big city and we take safety seriously and I loved the fact that this hotel valued safety for guests. James was very friendly and helpful during our check in process. The room was spacious and stocked up with everything we needed. I will recommend this hotel to my friends and clients. This was my first time staying at Tropical Winds. It was pet friendly, and that was a bonus, so I decided to load up my best buddy, and ride over to Daytona Beach and give it a try. My room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a huge counter with lots of space. There were 5 large drawers in the room, so a good amount of space for clothes. There was a cute table with 2 chairs, and a nice large desk with a rolling chair. It also had a kitchenette with an oven, stove, full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave and a sink. The view of the ocean, from the room, was spectacular. The property, itself, was clean and comfortable. All the employees I encountered with were friendly and helpful. I especially liked the young lady (I’m sorry for not getting her name) with the gorgeous, turquoise, hair that worked at the front desk in the evenings. She checked me in when I arrived and was so informative and helpful. She gave my dog a treat the moment we walked in, and then she actually sat down on the floor and interacted with my kind of skittish and anxious dog. I thought it was incredibly kind of her to spend some time with him. 😊 I had a nice time. I will definitely be back!

Loud, large dog barking, people banging on my door all hours of the night, shower broke, sliding glass door didn’t lock. Telephone in the room didn’t work. Charged me when I checked in even though I had already paid, check-in is 4pm, couldn’t get my room till after 5pm. I’ve stayed here before (5 times), this was the worst stay.

Terrible hotel. Had to get our room changed because our initial room was terrible. Actually tried to book another hotel but everything was full. Our second room was better but the schedule to clean our room was terrible. Moved to the new room on Sunday and we did not get any room cleaning till Thursday. Had to beg for bathroom towels all week. The only bright spot was Kyle who did his best to assist in anything.

I have stayed here multiple times and it has been good. This time room was not the cleanest, indoor pool was closed, another guest had a screaming fit in the hallway outside my door because a maid walked into his room at 8:30 in the morning. They were kind enough to let me get an extended check out, but tried to overcharge me until I insisted on them charging me the amount that their website stated. I checked out on Wednesday with my bill paid in full and by Friday they had charged me for staying Thursday and Friday, which I did not. When I called to have it fixed they said only the general manager could fix it and he was busy with customers. I would think charging someone’s card twice equaling over $200 would be a big deal but apparently not to them. I won’t be staying again in the future.

I have always enjoyed my stay at Tropical Winds, however, during this stay the room was not completely cleaned! Awful smell in room! My friend and I cleaned the room and discovered food had been cooked and left in the microwave. After cleaning the room, the stay was enjoyable!

I have mixed feelings about my stay. On one hand, the staff was wonderful; they truly tried their best to resolve the issues we encountered. However, the property is in desperate need of a serious update.
Our room was unfortunately quite dirty—specifically the floors, which needed a deep scrub. While the maintenance team did fix our TV issues, it took until the third day of our stay. Additionally, the kitchen was poorly stocked and lacked basic dishes and pots. The location is excellent, but until the rooms are renovated and cleaned more thoroughly, it’s hard to fully enjoy the stay.

Pro's: room was clean and smelled good, parking lot felt safe, good price compared to nearby competitors, dog friendly, on the beach.

Potential areas of improvement: To sum it up, they need more staff, we waited ~20minutes at the front desk with 2 other families waiting to be checked in. It was after 4pm and the rooms weren't ready. When the gentlemen finally came to the front desk, it turned out he was trying to help catch up on laundry <3. The dog fee online indicates $20 but they were asking for $70 at the desk upon checkin- this feels like a huge discrepancy considering I chose this venue due to what i had believed was a reasonable dog fee, likely wouldnt have booked if i knew it was $70

The staff was mean, had an attitude and would not even look at you. Check in was at 4 and did not get a room till 6:30. Staff did not apologize or offer any accommodations since I paid for a full night but technically did not get a full night. No entry from pool to beach. You have to walk around the building and walk in by car beach entrance. Great view from room facing beach.

Upon checkin, the guy at the desk never smiled or greeted us, just asked, “Are you checking in?” He seemed overwhelmed, but not really friendly at all. At 12:15am we were wakened by someone sliding an advertisement into our room doorframe! How does this even happen? Do the side doors to the building not lock? My girlfriend was scared and she highly encouraged me to not confront the person. I was told in the morning upon checking out to notify the manager, “They may want to know.” I was appalled that they were not only aware of this, but appears to be an ongoing problem!! The room was adequate.

When we arrived the room and kitchen were very clean. But soon realized the hotel was not what we expected. There weee signs that due to being Eco friendly the room would be cleaned every 3 days. We were there for 5 and the room was never cleaned. If it was not for us emptying and taking out our own garbage, making our own beds and cleaning the sinks ourselves, it would have not gotten done at all. There was one ice machine for all 8 floors and it was in the lobby. If we wanted clean towels, we had to “turn in” our wet used towels to the front desk first,to show we were not stealing towels.
The view of the ocean was beautiful and most of the employees were kind and helpful, however you could tell their hands were tied by management’s directive
The cafe on sight serves delicious food and the servers were very friendly

We stayed in the penthouse suite on the 8th floor. It was absolutely fabulous for the price. Very roomy, clean and a great view. The building is old but the elevators are actually pretty fast. Would definitely look at it first when we return.

We got there at 2:30 to check in and was told that our room was not ready but to come back in an hour......which is fair, technically check in isnt until 4pm......came back still not ready. There were other people who were also waiting to check in.....no explanation was given but just to come back later or get our money back and go somewhere else.....we didnt get checked in until 630pm. And then the clerk said there was a problem.with my payment and it didnt go through and that i would have to contact expedia?????? I gave him the same card i used on expedia and it went right through??????? The entire property needs updated, elevators smelled like Marijuana, and the steps out back still have not been fixed, there were several cars in the the parking lot that didnt have tags and had people hanging out. Didnt feel very safe. Not sure if we will stay again ,we love the location on the beach!

Weve stayed here many times over the past few years and feel like the hotel in general isnt as nice as it used to be.

The smell of weed was absolutely horrendous throughout the whole hotel. Hotel policy stated no smoking in the hotel! We were traveling with our son and grandson. Our grandson got headaches from the smell, nauseous and wouldn’t even use the indoor pool because of the smell! I myself have an allergy to weed so I had itchy, watery eyes, scratchy throat, sneezing, coughing and congestion. Ours son’s shower did not work when he went to use the shower the next morning so he had to come to our room for himself and grandson to shower. He did place a work order and it was resolved.
Overall the only thing that is nice is that the location, beach access, pets allowed and the views of the ocean. I would not recommend to any of my family or friends to stay at this location. We were quite disappointed.

Our stay here was mediocre. The building and room appeared fairly run down but was liveable. All of the staff were very friendly. I loved that we were right on the ocean. There was ample parking and lots of stuff nearby for entertainment and shopping.

We booked here because of the kitchenette, which was basically useless to us, there was nothing to cook or eat with. There was 3 plates, one tiny pot and barely any utensils - we ended up having to buy pots, pans, plates and utensils for our stay.

The patio door in our room was ancient, extremely heavy and did not roll. My spouse had to open and close it for me and the kids because we couldn’t.

The outside pool was not heated at all; it was freezing cold.

In terms of cleanliness, the place isn’t that bad; the housekeepers definitely do a good job; however, it doesn’t appear as though regular deep cleaning or maintenance is done the rooms to ensure all the little things are kept up.

Top of the tables were sticky with stuff spilled on them on the balcony. Remote control for the TV was sticky. Windows were not cleaned at all. Could barely see through them. Black lint on the clean white bed sheets. Balcony door would barely open and close. There was a film in the water of the indoor pool. The bedside lights did not work or The electrical outlet to charge your phone bedside. We will not be back

But all the staff was very nice. That's about the only thing good I have to say about our stay.

Stay during bike week, March 2026. The rooms don't seem to be cleaned as well as they used to be. And I've stayed there since 2018. They're overall hotel was very clean and neat. The parking for the bikes have changed , and that makes very little parking for all of us. There's no control over the music that is played in the parking lot and I think there should be!!!!! it's very disturbing and very disrespectful of the people staying there.

Customer Service is Excellent but this hotel can't be rated 4 Stars! It is a very old building in OK shape. Room had electric issues as well as the TV. Sofa bed was matrix was stinky and stained. King bed was Ok but not as expected. This hotel needs attention and care. It is good just if you don't find anywhere else to sleep!

The hotel was much easier to find this time around since they have a new, visible sign. Check-in was a breeze and James at the front desk was a really nice guy. The room was just as amazing as the last time my mom and I visited. Spacious, fulll kitchen with oven, stove, fridge, microwave. We loved the oceanfront view with balcony but it was just too cold to spend much time out there. Upon leaving, there was an issue with the elevator so we had to walk down the stairs from the 8th floor, but thankfully I had taken down most of our stuff a while earler. Not a big deal, things happen but it was a little inconvenient for my mom, but she toughed it out! Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

The hotel staff seemed disengaged once they realized I used Expedia. They said I would receive a call when my room was available, but that call never came. When I call them, it when to voice mail, and I never received a return call.
The upper floor and standard King room I requested I did not receive. There were no hand towels or washcloths in the room.

I would stay far away from this place! We arrived to check-in at 4pm and our room still wasn’t ready by 5pm so we had to settle for a room on a lower floor even though I requested a higher up room beforehand. We get in the room and there is mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and roaches. The bed was hard as a rock and the room was very old and grungy. Definitely not worth our money or time and I will be reporting this establishment to the city for proper inspection. The staff didn’t care either and acted like it wasn’t a big deal our room wasn’t ready. We will NEVER be back!

The room was in terrible condition. Old, worn out, ‘all’ metal parts were rusted (the safe and it did not work, legs of the office chair, door hinges. The sliding glass door glass was filthy. The front door and bathroom doors squeeked. The view was great and the shower was great. We will not be back.

I saw lots of bad reviews after booking so was a bit nervous. Found the hotel good value for money. Its not 5* but not paying for that. It was clean. Did not see any roaches but its Florida so expected. The heater did not work and cold but they replaced it. Great view of beach from balcony

Stay was great, this location to me is quiet and quaint, literally my favorite spot in Daytona..away from the \"commercial\" locations. I only had 2 things, you cant really enjoy the beach from the first floor so it should be offered when booking, and the king side bed was a bit too firm. Ive experienced upper levels and usually queen, not sure if there are just different firmness levels. HOWEVER, this will always be my home away from home!
