The room was a two bedroom suite which had a lot of potential, but needed a deep clean, paint, new appliances and basic repairs. The back doorknobs and locks barely worked and the back porch was filthy. The room also smelled like an ash tray.

We had a problem with our TV and the manager came to our room within minutes and brought us a new one. Beautiful location too, right on the beach. This property will definitely be our go to place to stay for bike week.

Very nice people who run this place and who clean it. The only issue we had was how loud it was. We were more towards the street and could hear every car that went by, raced, honked…but for the price of being on the beach side, we’d come back and likely will for next years Daytona 500. Pool was heated to perfection!

We really appreciated the excellent communication throughout our stay and the consideration given to our travel requests. However, I believe the building could benefit from some updates. For instance, new mattresses would improve comfort, as our mattress had a noticeable dip in the middle, causing us to feel like we were gravitating toward the center. This was our 2nd visit to Sea Shells. Last year we had a basic hotel room with a kitchenette that was just okay. This time i rented the 1bedroom, oceanview apartment/condo. I have to admit it was so clean, nice, comfy and very well priced (especially during a holiday weekend). I am sold and intend to rent this unit or whatever happens to be available for every daytona trip I take forever more.

The property has easy access to the beach and seemed to have a decent pool. The parking is an issue. There are simply not enough spaces. The rooms were quite run down. Our sink handle was broken and the toilet paper handle was almost falling off. Heaven forbid you ask for extra towels. Highly suggest bringing your own because they are super stingy. Floorboards were missing. The bed squeaks and the air was inconsistent. It is definitely a reasonable price for it’s location but definitely more of a cheap stay and by no means anything of luxury.

The hotel did not staff their lobby. All communication was through text despite my repeated attempts to speak with someone. The room had a very strong cigar odor that we had to air out for the entire stay by keeping the doors open. The keys to the hotel are kept in a communal lock box—not sure of the safety of this. The inside of the room was very run down with a mini couch and full size chair. And table with 4 chairs in the living/dinning space. The king bed was behind its own closed door. The bathroom was the size of a powder room at best and very run down. Despite my repeated attempts to speak with someone about the smell of cigars and a key that didn’t work, the hotel staff there was no resolution to the smell. I was basically told it was a non smoking room….which I knew but that didn’t solve the smell. He did offer air fresheners… definitely didn’t want air freshener smelling cigars. The two doors to the balcony both did NOT lock. This was rated 3 star and I wouldn’t even give it 1. We stayed in St Augustine the height before we checked in and the hotel was super clean! The smell of cleanliness was apparent from the moment we walked in. The room in St Augustine was very small, however, they made very good use of the space. In short, I would not recommend the Sea Shell in Daytona.

The property is well located, check in was easy. The units are comfortable and we only spent one night at the property. I could consider one more star but I am careful with cleanliness and I think they should focus more on it, especially in the toilets that had yellow marks and the outside trash cans were overflowing with trash. These are details that could be taken care of more.
