Booked through Expedia, got to the hotel and had to pay a $100 deposit that was NEVER mentioned on Expedia or google. The property had a creepy feeling. Hair was all over in the bathroom including the tub, no hand soap or trash can. Toilet paper crammed into the bathroom wall holes, hairdryer was melted, tissue box and coffee pot were disgusting. Ceiling paint was chipping, Outlets didn't work and neither did the lights by the beds, then I found what looked like a bedbug in the bathroom. We told the front desk guy and he said he will tell Housekeeping. While we were getting our stuff to leave, I contacted Expedia to let them know the conditions and to get a refund, Expedia contacted the hotel and by the time we got downstairs to the office, the guy was coming out to tell us we had to leave immediately and he was extremely rude! He tossed our deposit money at us and walked away without any apologies

Room not cleaned after first night. Some lights not working. Someone else’s food in refrigerator! Coffee packet opened. I requested clean up first evening, still not cleaned. Second night they moved me to another room. One light out there and door would not open or close unless forced.

I would say, without a doubt that this was the noisiest motel that I ever stayed in. I'm not sure what the girl in 118 was doing, but she was outside all night with assorted people coming and going. She was also smoking in her room. Maybe she's the boss of the hotel, perhaps some poor unfortunate who has to live there on the Ohio taxpayer. Who knows, but someone should teach her some manners.

Pool was closed, the WiFi only worked in the lobby, I found a cockroach in my room the first night and a bedbug in my room the second night. Breakfast was subpar. As I write this, I am working on deep cleaning all of my laundry because I found bug bites that weren’t there before my trip. Incredibly noisy and the night desk attendant wasn’t great either. Stay anywhere else.

The motel was reasonably priced for a Saturday in the summer. The property had a nice pool. The single room was very spacious, but could use better lighting. It was definitely a smoking room back in the day, and the smell still lingers. A tough smell to rid of. Overall I enjoyed my stay.

I was not expecting luxury when booking at Sprucewood, due to the affordable price. But I expected clean at least.

The whole room was poorly maintained. Sheets had hair on them, lamp shades were broken and dirty. The room reeked of cigarettes and the walls and ceiling were yellow, even though it was a non-smoking room.

Went to check in. Had 2 rooms reserved and the email to prove it. Drove 15 hrs just to get to the hotel and the lady tell me she only has me down for 1 room and wont give me 2 rooms even though ive got the email to prove my reservation. Extremely rude. We ended up leaving and finding another hotel at 2am

The guy checking us in was super friendly. The room was fairly clean. The spring bed was kinda uncomfortable but I’m used to a memory foam. The hot water was amazing. There were some dirty parts; behind the bedside tables especially. It was super busy so it was quiet. Price was great.

The door on the outside was really dirty and the trim was rotten and needs replaced, The pool was so dirty and I would not get in it. I told the staff but nothing was done about the pool and that was the only reason I stayed there was for the pool. Will I ever stay there again No. It looks nothing like the pictures.

This place needs some love and attention, not to mention better cleaning. There were trash cans outside of the ice vending area that were overflowing. The ice vending didn't look like somewhere I want to get ice. Our shower floor was absolutely filthy black. It would simply take one scrub of cleanser to remove that. The breakfast was very limited. There were only 4 muffins, a broken juice machine, some cereal, and yogurt (that other guest had opened for whatever reason to inspect....that housekeeping should have caught and tossed). We had an issue with our key and the lady in the room next to us told me it was always an issue for my door. That indicates a hotel where some people are long term residents. I've never had a good experience in those situations. It may explain why people were up all hours of the night making noise. The staff were friendly but overall, I can't recommend this place.

Inside the sides of both mattresses had blood/vomit/feces on them. It was noticed because the fitted sheet was not on the corner correctly. Some of the pillows were dirty. The place was probably beautiful when it was built, now its old and run down.

The moment I opened the door to the room, things were bad. Lights didn’t work by the door. The bed was extremely concave. The room was dirty in general. The final straw was all the bug crawling along and under the baseboards. I asked for a refund, but they refused. I slept in my car.

I was very disappointed with the cleanliness of this hotel. The stairs leading up to the rooms were filthy, and once inside, I found the bedspread, sheets (including what appeared to be blood stains), and towels to be dirty. There were also large, clearly visible stains on the chair, which further contributed to the overall sense of uncleanliness. This was absolutely unacceptable.

I reported these issues to the front desk. While they did replace the towels, they informed me that the hotel was fully booked.

Cleanliness is a basic expectation for any hotel stay, and unfortunately, this experience did not meet that standard. I would not recommend this hotel unless significant improvements are made.

It was adequate for our one night stop over with dogs, but wouldnt be my choice for a vacation. Nothing spectacular but nothing disgusting either. Bathroom walls and ceiling needed scrubbing and painting. No light in the sink area.no coffee pot in room. Nice woman at front desk. Nice outdoor pool with some well manicured grassy areas with rose bushes.

Great staff! It is comfortable and inexpensive. Not all of the lamps work, but the beds and pillows are comfy. Breakfast is minimal, but good for something quick. We have stayed here multiple times. It is perfect if you have realistic motel expectations.

Typically all hotels/motels provide good glasses for drinking, a tissue paper box, supplies like soap, lotion, napkins and other essential hygienic supply. There was nothing in room. Even after complaining they did not provide me good glasses for drinks. I had to go out and buy glasses for my Alcoholic drinks. I will never stay in Motel like this in my life.

Ok in a pinch

Arrived very late (12:30am) but was made to wait in a cold vestibule for checkin (door to lobby was locked I’m assuming to protect the young girl working). Reserved 2 double beds (traveling with my teenage son) but was given a room with a king bed and told no others available. First room key didn’t work at all and had to go back to the front of the building to get a second key to a new room (she tried to accommodate by providing a room with a king and a sleeper sofa). Room was very cold - turned heater on and first smelled like it was burning, then smelled like wet dog. This did dissipate as the night went on. Rooms definitely need some upkeep (holes in walls).

The overall experience was really good! The staff was very friendly. The rooms aren't new, but have been recently renovated. The beds are very comfy, pillows are good, bathroom clean. There were not outlets by the bed and the lights weren't all plugged in. It is a motel we will go back to.

I didn’t realize this facility was a “drive up to your door” kind of hotel. I don’t remember seeing pics of that. I immediately didn’t feel safe when I saw that and then this was made worse by the broken lock plate on my door. The smell of cleaning my chemicals in the rooms was strong and very unfamiliar. Not a typical clean smell but rather a harsh chemical smell that my lungs couldn’t tolerate. The clerk at the front desk tried to offer another room and I appreciated that, but my experience was already bad enough that I checked out moments after I checked in.

I have stayed at this location for years whenever passing through the area. This particular stay was absolutely horrible. The smell of mold, moisture & cigarettes was over powering, no matter the room. 1st room had structure damage, crack down the completed outside wall and across the top of it as well along the ceiling. Smelt of mold with signs of mold along the sides of walls at floor level. Moved to a second room, even worse then the first. No lock on the door, mold peppered across the ceiling with large patches of mold along the bottom of bathroom wall. The odor of cigarettes was combined with the smell of mold combined. Furniture broken and with holes and stains. Sadly, I won’t be going back until repairs are completed. Always have been pleasant people there and quiet area. I will miss my stays there.

The staff was fine. It seemed like a stabbin cabin tho. Doors looked like they had at some point been broken into. Safe to lock up valuables was non-functional, and not even bolted to wall. There were random used toilets in the parking lot (at least 7) just hanging out - which was less than desirable.
