The staff were great but the hotel needs some attention

It is possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept in. The room was freezing, the radiators must be on a timer. A deep clean of the carpets etc would help with the smell. The flooring in the shower looks like a cattle grid rather than an ensuit. The furniture is very dated and cheap. The TV on the wall is positioned incorrectly as you cannot see the picture if you are lying in bed.

It is a shame as the location is great especially with on site parking. As I said the staff were great but you could increase your income by investing in upgrading the property.

Room was clean and perfectly acceptable for the price paid, bed was comfy enough and bathroom clean. Yes the premises are a little tired decoration wise etc. but if you’re just looking for a nice easy access, well priced hotel to put your head down whilst out and about in Ediniburgh. Then this is perfectly acceptable. Breakfast was fine also and parking onsite. Would use again.

Staff were pleasant and helpful but the hotel is badly in need of a complete overhaul! Poor quality mattress, scraped and worn paintwork, mismatched carpets, creaky floors... the list goes on! If it wasn't for its proximity to the airport, no one would choose to stay there!

There is a parking lot onsite and on the street beside the hotel. Staff were very friendly. The place is run down but it is clear attempts are being made to improve things. One thing was the pump for the water was loud so be wary if you need a drink or a pee cuz that pump is gonna let everyone know you are up!

Pretty much okay for my needs; I just needed an affordable place on the west side of Edinburgh. Only let downs were the small room and shared bathroom; I suspect they were so keen to fit in as many rooms as possible the didn't want ensuite that would take up spaces.

Good location for rugby, going to airport or into the city. Bus stop right outside the door. Bed linen fresh and clean. Not much else positive to say. Whole B+B (not a hotel) run down and scruffy. Entry door with chipped paint and dirty, car park weedy and old cigarette butts lying around do not give a 1st good impression (my heart sank).Silicone and duct tape holding bits together. Only 1 sachet of coffee. Wet, manky duvet appeared in the bath during the night and still there in the morning. Continental breakfast poor but cooked good. English speaking gentleman at check in but 2 chinese people (while very nice) do breakfast and checkout in the morning with relatively poor English. The Bothy (Murrayfield Hotel) 5-7 minutes walk away nearest for food and drink. I wouldn't stay again.

Bathroom was very dusty and the metal shower gel holder was rusty. The toilet seat was broken. Ich hatte das Ensuite Zimmer. Auch wenn es natürlich kein luxus hotel ist, was es sehr sauber, das Personal sehr freundlich und die Lage super für eine Durchreise: Nah am Flughafen und Edinburgh. Parkplatz ist vorhanden auf dem Gelände und so weit ich weiss, hat es auch gleich an der Strasse Busstops. Beim Frühstück hat man alles, was man braucht mit Auswahlmöglichkeit.

Mixed Experience During Our Stay

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights during our road trip to Edinburgh. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff were friendly, which we appreciated. Having a parking lot was also very convenient.

However, there were some issues during our stay. When we entered our room, the heater was off, and the room was quite cold. Although the staff turned it on promptly when we mentioned it, it would have been better if the room was warm upon arrival. The room had a private bathroom, but there were no slippers provided, which was a bit inconvenient.

Additionally, the kettle in the room was rusty, so we couldn’t make tea or coffee. At breakfast, since we don’t consume meat products, we were served just one egg and one tomato, which felt insufficient. The packaged products on the table were overly sweet, so we ended up skipping breakfast entirely and decided to leave early the next morning.

While the staff were kind and accommodating, I believe the hotel could improve its amenities and breakfast offerings for a better guest experience.

Staff was pleasant and transport links were great. However next to a main road which wasn’t great and we gave up using the en-suite as it was causing a lot of noise . The communal toilets also had the same problem but not as bad as they weren’t in the same room as you.

The room was very cramped and bed was serviceable but not very comfortable

I would stay again , but would avoid the en-suite rooms

Place is fine to stay if you’re just using it as a bed or base for going into the city centre/murrayfield. Very easy to get to. The Asian man at the front is very nice and helpful. Only issue I had was the water pressure of the shower, it’s very weak. Aside from that, happy to stay there again

Also I made a mistake and book a night for two rooms while by myself and left me homeless for the second night after I arrived, Second night after 4 nights. They accommodated me no questions ask and it was my fault. Next time in Edinburgh I am staying at the Twin Lions. Besides breakfast is good!!!

Had a good stay. I had the room with my own private bathroom. The room was clean and the hotel itself was nice and quiet so got a good night’s sleep. It’s quite outdated and the bathroom door didn’t have a handle on the inside. A small thing that can easily be rectified. The TV was tiny but I had a good night’s sleep which is the most important thing.

This property appears to be run by a nice family. They let me check in very early in the morning without additional costs, and when I had to leave prior to breakfast, packed up a nice breakfast to go that I was able to take on the road. The room I was in could use refreshing however, its current state reflected the cost which was very reasonable.

The staff and owners were very friendly and accommodating! They were the highlight of the establishment. They allowed us to drop off our luggage when our flight arrived early in the morning. Hot breakfast was always provided with friendly service. When our activities required us leaving the hotel before breakfast, they made sure to provide us with fruit, juice, and pastries to go the night before. When we mentioned being cold the first afternoon (since we come from a much warmer climate), they brought a space heater and then made sure to turn on the radiator for us for the evening. The gentleman that manned the front desk in the evenings was always prepared to help with any questions we had about getting around to our destinations the next day. The room was clean, though small. There was very little space to move around. The mattresses could have used a rotation, and the shower showed signs of mold, as well as the shower door not shutting properly. Other than that, the room was well maintained. The rest of the property also seemed well maintained. The area was quiet and there was a bus stop conveniently located in front of the hotel, with the return stop just a few minutes walk down the street. This made getting around fairly easy. It was also a short walk to the Edinburgh zoo!

Stayed for one night as I had an early flight from Edinburgh airport the next day. The member of staff who checked us in was very pleasant. We were unable to have breakfast due to the time of our flight so I can’t comment on the catering. The room itself was in need of a little bit TLC and the bed was very squeaky but for one night it was fine. Convenient for the airport as the bus stop is across the road from the hotel.

Booked this three star hotel just outside Edinburgh.

Probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Seemed clean as you first walked in, but the bedroom furniture - chair especially - looked disgusting.

The room was tiny. The headboard on the bed was ridiculously slanted giving the impression everything was a bit out of alignment.

I don’t know how old the bed is, but I would lay money the mattress is the original. The bed was noisy when anyone moved and very uncomfortable - terrible night sleep for both my wife and myself.

The bathroom was again very small. There was no handle on the door so you could close. You had to pull on the lock to close the door. There was no hook for hanging a towel. Tile on the floor was cracked. Plumbing used one of those electric pumps which was very noisy.

Breakfast was interesting. There was a selection sheet on the table. Had some cereal and then the cooked breakfast arrived. Bacon was ok, sausage seemed very cheap and anemic - I couldn’t eat it. Egg was so well cooked it was hard. Tomato was a cold tomato and then just put on the plate. Toast was ok. Following day at breakfast we just ordered toast and the cook was surprised we weren’t ordering the cooked.

The only positive thing I can say is that there was parking as advertised.

TV didn't work properly and missing lights, We had a double room which was ok for the one night we stayed, however shower was very small with a high step in.
This was definitely a B&B, not a hotel and should be priced as such.

The room had far too many beds in it, there was not any room to move at all. This room should only be classed as a double. The bathroom had hairs in the sink and the shower.
The bedding had marks on it. Breakfast was very poor we only got 1 slice of and 1 egg. The toast was not even toasted properly. We would definitely not stay here again.

Worst night sleep in a long time neighbours returned back to their room at 3am and playing music until 8am … you can’t choose who is in the room next to you but the hotel doesn’t have much soundproofing so if they’re noisy you will know about it.

Loved that this hotel was right next to the bus stop which helped us a lot. The included breakfast was also really nice and staff were helpful! The room was a bit small and cramped, but overall met our needs. My only complaint is that the mattress on the top bunk was TERRIBLE. Luckily with an extra down comforter beneath me I was able to sleep, but without that I don't think the bed would have been bearable.

Receptionist was lovely and welcoming but unfortunately although the room was adequate the water pressure on the en suite was bad.
My main reason for the rating was the terrible sound proofing.
We could hear every word the next door bedroom guests said until they went to sleep and woke up when other guests came back later, then we were woken by the chef talking loudly in the morning as the breakfast room was next to our bedroom
This hotel was ok for one night but for more than that, I feel the above would become a real issue

Reaonable.and comfortable.

A nice stay, the service was excellent and very friendly. The room was comfortable and very clean including the en-suite. However it was bit cramped I believe they must have added the en-suite. The overall decor was a bit jaded but ok. The breakfast was well cooked and served quickly maybe a decent coffee machine would enhance the breakfast. However I would recommend this hotel for a short stay Edinburgh Zoo was 10 minutes walk and pubs restaurants just a little bit further.

The pros: The staff were fabulous, lovely people. The location is central and walkable to everything. Breakfast was great as well!

The cons: the room could have been cleaner, the floors looked like they hadn't been vacuumed and the toilet looked like they forgot to scrub it after applying the cleaner. Also, the hotel is above a bar and the rooms are quiet noisey. They had trivia nights on tuesday and could hear all the questions through the floor in our room.
