Room quite small but fine for a couple of nights or so.

Only problem was seal on window wasnt great so could hear qind whistling and traffic noise. Black out blind also had a tear which let in light too early.

Decent value though.

I had a be try good stay. The room is small but it’s very clean, all amenities are available if needed. The staff are very friendly and proactively make sure you have everything you need. They truly care about their guests. The location is very central and close to all tourist attractions and to the rail and tram station. Highly recommended.

Edinburgh hotel prices are notoriously expensive and poor value in my opinion after 50 years of staying there - but this was an exception.
February meant a comfy stay for 54 quid for my wife & I.
The price and location were the clinchers - the AirPort Express bus stop is right outside the hotel entrance and so is the tram stop.
Haymarket rail station is right across the street.
So is Ryries - one of the Scottish capital’s historic pubs - others are on the hotel’s doorstep, including its own Platform 5 bar n restaurant.
Princes St is just along the road and the Royal Mile & castle are not far either.
Stairs up to reception are a hassle with heavy luggage but our receptionist was good at her job & welcoming.
Her offer of a room upgrade was a surprise - so instead of a windowless room we got a view of the car park - hardly the majestic castle but better than a blank wall.
Our room was small for two with carryon luggage - so cramped with bigger suitcases no doubt, although there is storage under the bed.
The double bed mattress was remarkably good and we had a sound night’s sleep which is top result for any hotel.
As others have mentioned, the lack of a kettle to make a cuppa is a glaring omission - I’d rather have that than the complimentary hairdryer.
Late checkout was complimentary with my IHG points.
Skipped breakfast in the hotel cos an Italian cafe almost next door does super omelette rolls and all sorts of other goodies.
A highly enjoyable stay in every way.

Room was clean, small - but well enough kitted out for a short stay … I wouldn’t want to stay for more than a couple of nights though !! My room was next to the main door to the lifts - every time someone opened or closed it the whole room shook !! That’s the only reason it is a 4 and not a 5

Great location, very nice staff.
We did leave the tag on the door knob one day for our room to be cleaned. When we came back, our room wasn’t touched. We told the front desk about it, they sent someone but all they did was make the bed with the same sheets.
Besides this, our stay was still good.

The hotel is excellently placed right by Haymarket train station and has a large pub/restaurant next door. The staff were very friendly and help, with quick responses to messages when I realised I’d left a ring in my room after check out.
I would definitely stay here again on a visit to Edinburgh

i stayed for four nights and five days there. i had arrived very late at night and they were very accommodating to me and my needs, answered questions, filled water bottle, and throughout the week I received new towels and came back to my room with a bed made up and trash taken out. it was a very clean, nice, and warm place to stay while it snowed for the first couple of days and it was new years so it was great. its walking distance to nearly everything and the train station is right across the street.

The location is undoubtedly the hotel’s best asset. It is situated in a safe and highly convenient area, with the airport bus stopping right outside for both arrivals and departures. Additionally, its proximity to Haymarket Station makes navigating the city effortless.
I also appreciated the complimentary coffee in the morning, the all-day hot water, and the effective heating system, which was perfect for those sensitive to the cold.
However, the experience was dampened by noticeable maintenance issues, such as loud, squeaky pipes that were particularly disruptive late at night.

The most significant drawback, however, was the cleanliness. While towels were replaced upon request, they often had visible marks, forcing us to contact reception for further replacements. Most disappointing was that during our six-night stay, the room was never once cleaned or vacuumed. Given the limited space, having to walk on the same area throughout our stay, either with our shoes after entering the room or after showering, was very unpleasant.
Furthermore, the air vents are in need of a deep clean (as shown in the photos). One of us suffered from a persistent dry hacking cough that only occurred while inside the room and ceased immediately upon leaving.
Lastly, there were marks on the walls from day one that should have been addressed by housekeeping.

Staff were friendly and super helpful. Breakfast was lovely and even though the room was small, it was well equipped, clean and the bed was really comfortable. There was lots of information available for touring Edinburgh and the free coffee, tea and water was a nice touch. The room was very warm and could only be adjusted from reception, but they were helpful to sort it for us. Would highly recommend and very well situated with transport to the city centre and the airport.

Absolutely dire hotel which IHG should be embarrassed to have their name associated with. The window seal was non existent so we had freezing air blowing into our room all night. The pillows and mattress could be compared to a plank of wood and I was genuinely concerned I would wake up with a neck injury. The top of the toilet seat was dirty upon check in. The room was so small you literally cannot stay there if you have suitcases any larger than carry on. We communicated the issues to the hotel and we’re not offered ANY compensation or partial refund which I think is very poor considering we paid almost $400 AUD for a single nights accommodation which is EXTORTIONATE. They don’t have any kettles or amenity in the room so you need to go to reception for a tea or coffee, and NO alternative milks are offered. In this day and age that is completely below par. Avoid this hotel like the plague.

Not a fan of the glass doors on the bathroom but the rest of the room was fine and the bed was comfortable. Location is excellent and easy to get around town.

The hotel was really quirky. Excellently located facing the railway station, bus stops and metro stops making it super easy to access many other locations around the surrounding areas.

We had a 3 night stay. The staff were helpful and polite at every point in fairness. The hotel needs some love. Lobby carpets desperately need cleaning. Our first room had a massive burn where an iron or something hot had been left. There was an issue with the AC/heating unit which wouldn't turn off and resulted having to move rooms in the early hours. The next room was noisy sounded like a lorry was parked outside with its engine running. This would have been difficult as we were on the 7th floor! We reported this in the morning. It seemed to get sorted but only between 9pm and 6am when it would start again. Cleaners would be active from 7am which was a disturbance as they were moving trolleys around and banging doors. The lift entrance on the 7th floor had damaged plaster work leaving a 2 inch gap between the metal work and the rest of the wall. The door frames in the toilet in the rooms had suffered with water from the showers and were showing the effect. Pillows in the bedrooms where made of granite. The staff where a 10 out of 10. The location was an 8 out of 10. The building 2 out of 10. It needs some love and IHG needs to back it's people and get the place up to standard.

The room was decent for the price however the fire alarm was triggered at 2am, the alarm went off for 40 minutes and not once were we talked to by a member of staff during this, we were outside in the rain for half an hour and we only came back in because the fire men left, not because a staff member gave us the all clear. I dread to think how it would have been if it was an actual fire, as there was no effort to get people out of their rooms or out of the building, no guidance for where we should wait, no assistance when coming back in. No compensation offered. Terrible.

The location is great, central and direct to either the city and the airport very easily.

Rooms are tiny considering the price per night, unable to open a mini carry on suitcase on the floor. You have to go over the bed/shuffle around it to move around the room

Housekeeping was questionable, our bathroom wasn’t cleaned/re stocked. Ran out of sanitary bags, our towels were taken away but not replaced and still hairs/visible dirt in the bathroom

The most significant concern is regarding the fire safety procedure at this property. Around 11pm last night the reception knocked on our door to check on us - as they had been alerted our fire alarm was activated. We were asked if we had ran the shower or sprayed anything near it - we hadn’t. At this point it was apparent that there was a fault with it.

Fast forward to 1:56 am. The fire alarms sounded through the whole property, we went into the hallway and spoke to the same reception member who advised us evacuating was “to our discretion” and that “we’re unsure if there is actually a fire or not”. She then asked if anyone in the hallway was staying in a certain room number (ours) we identified ourselves - indicating they were aware of a fault with our fire alarm. More happened, fire brigade arrived etc - but limited character availability - I am lodging a formal complaint with IHG as the fire safety procedure is unacceptable to say evacuating is discretionary when you’re unsure if there is an active fire. Wouldn’t stay again

The room we were given up on check in had a clogged shower drain and slightly dirty bathroom. We were sent to another room the next morning, that delayed us in getting out the door for our day. Once we were back in the new room, which was smaller, did not have a fully functional TV and the window leaked. Also, 1 of the 2 elevators was broken the entire 4 days we were there.

The room was very cold as the AC was running. The staff told us they had control of this and would turn it off. I asked 4 times for them to turn it off and they didn’t. I also asked for a room change but they would not. They said there was no heating in the room. And the windows were so bad they may as well have been open as the draft was so bad. It eve blew the blinds open.

The floor in the room needed a proper vacuum - we asked reception to do this and the floor was still dirty after reporting this. There was a also an occasional horrible sewage gas smell from the toilet that appeared randomly. One of the two lifts was broken. The bed was comfy, but everything else was a bit basic. I know it's not an expensive hotel, but it didn't hit the minimum standards

The Hotel is in a very good location — it’s a great base for exploring the city on foot and visiting the main attractions and monuments in and around the center. However, the room cleaning could definitely be improved. Our room (207) was unfortunately located next to an entrance door, and we could hear it slamming late in the evening and sometimes at night, which isn’t ideal when you’re trying to rest.

That said, the reception area and the general atmosphere of the hotel are pleasant, and the staff at the front desk are very kind and helpful. They kindly allowed us to leave our luggage both on arrival and before departure, so we could visit the city more comfortably. Overall, the price is fair, but a deeper and more regular cleaning of the rooms and floors would make the stay much better.

The shower was dirty, the room for 4/5 nights was freezing and when we rang reception like it tells u to do they said they would reboot the heating, nothing, the next night i rang again, same thing said nothing happened, then the next day i asked at the reception desk if they could fix it and they were going to move us room which we didnt want to do because we would’ve had to pack everything up again, a girl came out of the back room and was quite cheeky saying their system said our room was temping 7 degrees as if thats a warm temperature for a room and in the end they gave us another duvet which was fine. The shower had dirt on the floor and the walls had dirt in between the tiles. The room itself was quite nice and for the most part the staff were lovely it was just that one encounter which made me cautious to go back to the desk to ask for anything

We were aware that the room would be small, that wasn’t the issue. There was only 1 outlet by the bed, how do multiple people charge things with only 1 outlet? Something was wrong with the plumbing and every time we opened the bathroom door it made our whole room smell very bad. We could also hear the plumbing running from other rooms and it would bang very loudly
