The staff were very friendly and happy to help. Brilliant location, right next to the Haymarket train and tram stations. Good links for buses and taxis too. Platform 5 pub attached to the hotel is very good, pleasant atmosphere, food and drinks. The room could have been a bit cleaner, in particular the floors. The duvet was incredibly thick, coupled with the fact the windows were screwed shut and the air conditioning would only go to a minimum of 20 degrees, it made for quite a warm night.

Room and shower room are compact - enough room to move about (I was on my own with a smaller sized bag; 2 and large suitcases would feel right ) - so there would be no swinging of cats. Sufficient for an overnight stay.
Booked a windowless room as it was only for 1 night. Didn’t bother me, the curtain gave the impression of a window. Obviously no clue how bright or dry the day was (but then it is Edinburgh!). 2nd stay in 6 months (windowed room wasn’t much bigger). Convenient for Haymarket station, trams and buses.

In general the stay at the hotel was fine. We book a bedroom without window and the AC wasn’t working (I think they had some issues with that because it was a men trying to fix it - at least that was what the staff told me) so the room was like a sauna. The staff was really helpful and kind. Unfortunately the issue didn’t change and after a few hours we ask again to the staff about the AC. And we change the room, same thing was happening but we call to the receptionist and then she told us that the issue shouldn’t continue. At the end the AC wasn’t properly working I don’t know if it because there was no window in the room and/or if the issue was happening as the staff told us. It shouldn’t be needed calling the reception to to turn on the AC as they should be turn on by default. The shower towels were not “fluffy” as usual and there was no toilet brush in the bathroom.
The carpets in the corridor for the rooms really need a deep clean, as they were quite dirty.
They let us leave our luggage before the check in and after the check out.

Location was great, opposite train station, tram from airport, buses into city centre close by.
No coffee facilities in the bedroom, but they had fresh tea and coffee and reception whenever you wanted it.
Bar restaurant next door. Rooms small and cozy, but beds and showers were lovely.

The room seemed smaller than the photos and was pretty much just a bed, two small nightstands and a shelf. And the glass door leading to the compact bathroom leaves little to the imagination. A man had lost his CC Card and we found it leaving us to believe that they did not give the room a proper cleaning. But overall it was a pleasant stay.

Great location, restaurants nearby are pretty good, close enough to the touristy spots a nice walk can get you there but removed enough to not be in the middle of it all. The rooms are updated, bathrooms might need an update but i was surprised with the hotel overall.

Its a conveniently located gotel across from Haymarket station. The stff were kind and helpful. Th rooms are small butvery clean and the beds are comfortable. I rhink it wad a bit overpriced but ot wad Easter weekend and near o city cemter so it's to be somwhat expected. My wife and I would stay here again.

Lovely staff. Good location near the centre.
Mattress protector was covered in blood. We had to ask for it to be changed. Not just a spot almost a murder scene. Repeatedly requested another duvet as two of us were sharing a double bed staff kept saying yes but one never materialised . Surely an establishment of this size should have a spare duvet. The room we were given was absolutely freezing with a gale blowing through the window just at head height as you lay in bed and as the room was so small there was no way of moving away from this. we had a terrible night sleep. We were removed to a twin room which was more acceptable and we could at least move around. The ‘cosy’ rooms are very, very small. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the foyer but the coffee had always run out and the hot water would always run out so it wasn’t really very satisfactory. The staff are trying their best, but they can’t really check people in and be constantly refilling coffee. I cannot recommend this hotel and I would never stay there again.

The main entrance is fresh and modern with excellent and friendly staff. Free filter coffee and tea available at all times.

Room was very clean however, the bed was small, rock hard with uncomfortable pillows. Having hard floors also meant the room was quite loud.

Can't beat the location but, expected more for the price.

The only criticism I have is at the official address is in the rear. So when we first arrived, our Apple Maps app sent us up the street down a side alley to the rear door. Other than that service was good, the pub connected to the lobby was excellent. Just a great experience.

Great hotel and very convenient. The reception staff are excellent. They all without exception are helpful, generous and kind.
The room was lovely but we missed not having a kettle from which to fill our hot water bottles!!!!! There is still only one lift working and other maintenance issues. Breakfast is in a bar with tvs everywhere and was ok but no really healthy options eg unsweetened yogurt, porridge, seeds, etc which I’d expect for the price we paid. But very central and warm. Will return.

Only problem was seal on window wasnt great so could hear qind whistling and traffic noise. Black out blind also had a tear which let in light too early.

I had a be try good stay. The room is small but it’s very clean, all amenities are available if needed. The staff are very friendly and proactively make sure you have everything you need. They truly care about their guests. The location is very central and close to all tourist attractions and to the rail and tram station. Highly recommended.

Edinburgh hotel prices are notoriously expensive and poor value in my opinion after 50 years of staying there - but this was an exception.
February meant a comfy stay for 54 quid for my wife & I.
The price and location were the clinchers - the AirPort Express bus stop is right outside the hotel entrance and so is the tram stop.
Haymarket rail station is right across the street.
So is Ryries - one of the Scottish capital’s historic pubs - others are on the hotel’s doorstep, including its own Platform 5 bar n restaurant.
Princes St is just along the road and the Royal Mile & castle are not far either.
Stairs up to reception are a hassle with heavy luggage but our receptionist was good at her job & welcoming.
Her offer of a room upgrade was a surprise - so instead of a windowless room we got a view of the car park - hardly the majestic castle but better than a blank wall.
Our room was small for two with carryon luggage - so cramped with bigger suitcases no doubt, although there is storage under the bed.
The double bed mattress was remarkably good and we had a sound night’s sleep which is top result for any hotel.
As others have mentioned, the lack of a kettle to make a cuppa is a glaring omission - I’d rather have that than the complimentary hairdryer.
Late checkout was complimentary with my IHG points.
Skipped breakfast in the hotel cos an Italian cafe almost next door does super omelette rolls and all sorts of other goodies.
A highly enjoyable stay in every way.

Great location, very nice staff.
We did leave the tag on the door knob one day for our room to be cleaned. When we came back, our room wasn’t touched. We told the front desk about it, they sent someone but all they did was make the bed with the same sheets.
Besides this, our stay was still good.

The hotel is excellently placed right by Haymarket train station and has a large pub/restaurant next door. The staff were very friendly and help, with quick responses to messages when I realised I’d left a ring in my room after check out.
I would definitely stay here again on a visit to Edinburgh

i stayed for four nights and five days there. i had arrived very late at night and they were very accommodating to me and my needs, answered questions, filled water bottle, and throughout the week I received new towels and came back to my room with a bed made up and trash taken out. it was a very clean, nice, and warm place to stay while it snowed for the first couple of days and it was new years so it was great. its walking distance to nearly everything and the train station is right across the street.

The location is undoubtedly the hotel’s best asset. It is situated in a safe and highly convenient area, with the airport bus stopping right outside for both arrivals and departures. Additionally, its proximity to Haymarket Station makes navigating the city effortless.
I also appreciated the complimentary coffee in the morning, the all-day hot water, and the effective heating system, which was perfect for those sensitive to the cold.
However, the experience was dampened by noticeable maintenance issues, such as loud, squeaky pipes that were particularly disruptive late at night.

The most significant drawback, however, was the cleanliness. While towels were replaced upon request, they often had visible marks, forcing us to contact reception for further replacements. Most disappointing was that during our six-night stay, the room was never once cleaned or vacuumed. Given the limited space, having to walk on the same area throughout our stay, either with our shoes after entering the room or after showering, was very unpleasant.
Furthermore, the air vents are in need of a deep clean (as shown in the photos). One of us suffered from a persistent dry hacking cough that only occurred while inside the room and ceased immediately upon leaving.
Lastly, there were marks on the walls from day one that should have been addressed by housekeeping.

Staff were friendly and super helpful. Breakfast was lovely and even though the room was small, it was well equipped, clean and the bed was really comfortable. There was lots of information available for touring Edinburgh and the free coffee, tea and water was a nice touch. The room was very warm and could only be adjusted from reception, but they were helpful to sort it for us. Would highly recommend and very well situated with transport to the city centre and the airport.

Absolutely dire hotel which IHG should be embarrassed to have their name associated with. The window seal was non existent so we had freezing air blowing into our room all night. The pillows and mattress could be compared to a plank of wood and I was genuinely concerned I would wake up with a neck injury. The top of the toilet seat was dirty upon check in. The room was so small you literally cannot stay there if you have suitcases any larger than carry on. We communicated the issues to the hotel and we’re not offered ANY compensation or partial refund which I think is very poor considering we paid almost $400 AUD for a single nights accommodation which is EXTORTIONATE. They don’t have any kettles or amenity in the room so you need to go to reception for a tea or coffee, and NO alternative milks are offered. In this day and age that is completely below par. Avoid this hotel like the plague.
