For a fairly inexpensive room in the city centre, we really can’t fault it much. The staff were lovely and very willing to help, too.

In saying that however, you really do get what you pay for. The room felt a little claustrophobic with 2 of us in there (we got the one with no window), only 2 very soft pillows on the bed so felt like there was none, the sink tap in the toilet leaked on to the floor, and there were several minor decor details that could’ve been sorted I feel - like a couple of the headboard buttons being missing, and the wall curtain having what I assume were damp stains on the bottom. The biggest problem was the noise however - which we had a very poor sleep due to. The walls appear to be very thin, as we could clearly hear conversations from a neighbouring room, as well as other guests in the corridor arriving very late at night (around 1am) as though the door was wide open. Being on the lower ground level, we could also hear passing trains/trucks during the night, and were awoken very early by cleaning staff hoovering and working in the corridors and neighbouring rooms. Don’t expect hot breakfast items either (as my partner was, but this is, in fairness, stated on the website breakfast menu) as there are only pastries and fruit/yoghurt.

Overall, it was ok for just a cheap overnight stay, but we definitely wouldn’t return. If able to as well, I recommend spending just a little extra to get a window room as this may help with the lack of space feeling.

As a traveler coming from the US, my favorite part of this hotel was the ability to add early check in starting at 12pm for GBP 15. This added flexbility was very needed after the long overnight travel.

I traveled solo and found the room to be small but perfect size just for me. The room was clean and modern. I thought it was good value. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was okay, I wish there had been more variety. The hotel was in a good location, 5 min walk from a tram stop and within a 15 minute walk of Old Town. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to explore Edinburgh.

The location was excellent with lots of nice restaurants nearby and convenient to walk into the Old Town.

The bed was comfy and the staff were friendly and courteous.

However it was an absolute pain to have to travel to reception every time we needed hot water (quite frequently in Edinburgh winter). I doubt this is cutting waste as I ran through far more disposable cups and trays than simply refilling a ceramic cup. Due to being upstairs this was also a safety risk as a large group came into the lift while I was holding a boiling cup of water, one of them had two large duffel bags and pushed everyone back which almost led to me spilling boiling water everywhere. Surely a water station on each floor would be more preferable/cost effective than the lift constantly running and resulting disposable waste.

Another annoying add on to having to leave the room for water, is that the light/heat settings of the room reset everytime you leave the room, meaning the second person in the room is cut off from lighting when you need to do this. While it was interesting to see a Hotel try something different from the old method of leaving a keycard in the slot for lighting, this issue doesn't occur under that system.

Overall a comfy stay in a nice location, but someone in Management/planning should try staying there a few days and see how inconvenient some of the planning/systems are and make things easier for the guests.

The room was a bit on the small size for my liking. Nowhere to store luggage apart from a couple of hangers on the wall, it felt claustrophobic and cluttered. I recently stayed at this hotel and was disappointed with the check-in experience. Although most of the staff seemed friendly, the check-in process was poorly organized. There was a line and I waited for my turn, but the staff did not follow the order of the queue. After I had finished filling out the required form, the staff member who was assisting me suddenly started helping the guest behind me instead, completely ignoring me. I stood there waiting, unsure of what to do, until I asked again and was only told “two seconds.”

This lack of attention and disregard for guests who are waiting made the check-in process disappointing . I hope the hotel can improve its service and ensure that staff follow proper procedures and treat guests with more consideration.

Modern hotel in the heart of old Edinburgh

The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, and I could easily control the temperature.

For breakfast, the yogurt was great, and they offer a variety of breads, pastries, pasties, cereals, hard-boiled eggs, and more. Much preferred over the powered scrambled and fried eggs from a box, offered at other hotels.

The location is close to several restaurants and Haymarket Station. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk to the Royal Mile and other attractions.

All of the staff members we encountered were super helpful.

So many things wrong with this hotel. I got a room with 2 beds and only 1 bed had outlets near it. In this day and age, it’s common sense that all beds need an outlet. Further, the hotel staff did not provide new towels daily nor did they clean the trash in the rooms. This is the standard in all hotels! Not cleaning rooms daily is atrocious service. The bath room was also tiny and difficult to move in. Overall, terrible nonexistent service and poor room layout.

Good enough for a night

The stay was fine, the check in and check out was a bit awkward with the receptionist right behind the self check in/out. The room was fine as well but nothing particular. Breakfast was full and limited seating - not a lot of typical breakfast foods like scrambled, bacon, toasted bread etc.

I do think you should get tea and coffee in your room though, or at least for free downstairs, not have to pay for it.

Yes it’s cheaper than some alternatives in the area, but still not cheap!

We had a three night stay in the point a hotel. We found the hotel very conveniently located the hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel was very modern and spotless clean would highly recommend this hotel

very modern facilities and clean, staff are fantastic (very welcoming, attentive and helpful), only downside to our stay was lack of tea/coffee making facilities within the room and so had to purchase from reception every morning and evening (24hr service).
