We had a room by the front door, so we could hear every time somebody came into the building and when someone rang the doorbell. We could also hear sounds from the road. Thankfully we were too exhausted to be bothered by such noises, but those sensitive to sound would really have suffered.

The room initially had a damp smell when we first came into the room.

The included breakfast was a pleasant surprise - we didn't realise breakfast would be included. As per the other reviews it's nothing to write home about - prepackaged muffins, croissants and pain au chocolates, bananas, sweet peelers, apples, sliced meats and cheese, some cereal.

Shower was nice and strong.

Bed was a little hard but we were only there for a night so not really an issue.

Really good location for Victoria bus/rail.

The room was also not very big (it was for 3 people), but for the location and price point I suppose this is understandable.

It certainly is a hotel. I mean - it was under £50 for a room for the night in Central London. You aren't going to get the Ritz! But it was a pretty clean room to spend a night, on a fairly quiet street near Victoria Station. Had a breakfast included which was enough to start a day. Can't argue with that!

My stay was nice, all the basic amenities needed in a hotel. The location was perfect jn central London with lots of transportation options very close by. The downside was that I booked a private room with a private bathroom but it was not advertised that the bathroom was separate from my room. I had to go down 10 or so steps to get to my private bathroom instead of it being attached to the room like I thought. The service each day was wonderful though as the bed was made and I received fresh towels each day.

OYÓ Bakers is very close to both the Victoria Coach station and London Victoria Train station. The staff is very helpful. The room is cramped, but relatively clean.

The room was so small you could barely walk around the bed. The bed side lamp was falling off the wall. The people working there were clueless about anything you asked them. Couldn't tell you about anything in the surrounding area or directions. Plus very unfriendly. The breakfast was terrible. Pre-packaged everything or cold cereal and the same everyday. Cheap and hard mattress. I'll never book at Oyo again! It wasn't a cheap price either.

Moved to another hotel

Unfortunately, we did not end up staying at this hotel.

When we tried to check in, the receptionist told us it was not possible to check us in as someone had already checked in with our name, and he had sent them to our room. We ended up being moved to an entirely different hotel (Colliers Hotel), and the room/hotel/amenities were just not what we expected. Travelling with a baby and my elderly mother, I felt like I could not refuse, and arguing would have potentially left us homeless for the night. Thankfully it was just a one night stay.

That evening someone tried to gain entry into our room, and I kept receiving messages from the hotel that said we had not checked in?? It was all a bit strange.

We returned to the hotel in the morning for breakfast, which was a usual/typical continental breakfast. No problems here.

I appreciate their attempt to re-house us for the night, but I felt very vulnerable travelling with a baby and didn’t feel I got what I paid for. I’d hoped to hear back from the hotel with a resolution before writing this review but I have heard nothing.

Excellent location but sadly, my experience was horrible. Staircases are quite already steep and staff were very inconsiderate leaving vacuum cleaner in walking path down staircases which was very unsafe. My “private” bathroom was also quite nasty- others were using it and it was leaving from the day I got there to the day I left. Water heater also was non-existent. It’s a lovely property but needs better management.

Hotel was very good for a lone female traveller business trip. Room was very clean and tidy. As with a lot of similar hotels in London, it needed some TLC on small details (paintwork) - so I'd give it a 4 out of 5 overall. But it wouldn't put me off going again. Very reasonably priced with continental breakfast in centre of London, so will book again. Q-Park Pimlico Parking nearby too which was handy. Staff were helpful and friendly. Thanks! :)

Stayed at this hotel a few times now, convenient for Victoria stations, and a lovely little area of shops close by. Walkable to lots of attractions. Staff friendly and helpful. Beds are comfy and breakfast is a bonus these days. Will definitely stay again.

Friendly welcome, swift registration process. We had a basement family room allocated.
Plenty of hot water in the shower. Clean cotton bedding on a reasonably comfortable bed.
Our room began to flood due to heavy rain so the carpet was quite wet and the small electric heater didn't work so we were a bit cold.
I didn't try and sort it out as I was tired and they were full so a different room wouldn't have been an option. I would stay again as it was a very short walk from the nearest bus stop and for an overnight stay, very reasonably priced

Overall good but skip breakfast and no lift!

The room itself was clean and a comfortable bed with no real view. This property is NOT suitable for anyone with any physical disabilities as there is no lift and only very narrow staircases (you would also struggle with more than just hand luggage.) The breakfast offering was laughably bad, dont bother, continental with little choice. However the room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a nice amount of teas and coffees. Victoria station is about a 10 minute walk. I would recommend for a 1/2 night stay but you'll probably need to get breakfast elsewhere and if you arent physically fit you might struggle with 6 flights of stairs if you are on top floor

We stayed for three nights on the top floor, at the start of August . The first day was warm, and that made our room very uncomfortable and hot.
Stairs are very narrow (two feet) and steep. Bathroom needs good scrubbing around the base of shower pan,
Beds are not comfortable.

Breakfast is very basic, only two choices of pork cold cuts,
sweet yogurt, some cereal

Room was fine, just noisy with being at the front of the building next to the street. Pigeons also made a lot of noise on the rooftop early in the morning. Staff member on the front desk seemed like they'd much rather be anywhere apart from there, but check-in was smooth. Breakfast was basic but it was included in the room rate so I can't fault it. Overall I'd stay again.

The start of my stay here was good. The room was small but cozy the area is good and the room was comfortable. I had room 8 which has a bathroom included however is it detached from the room and located down the staircase. The bathroom is very nice and has a sign that says “Room 8 Only” however I noticed that someone else was using the restroom. At least twice. Possibly more. The bathroom was steamy from someone taking a shower. I reported it to staff immediately following finding out someone just showered and asked the bathroom be cleaned they never cleaned it. I’ll let you know if I end up coming down with athletes food or ringworm or something.

This was to be my first stay here and I booked a non-refundable room (so I am aware of that when I comment here) and rang the hotel & Hotels.com in advance of the booking to see if I could change it due to the train strikes. There was no chance of them changing the booking to a later date, they just didn't even entertain the idea. Just said I would love my money if I didn't turn up. The hotel rang me on the evening of check-in to see what time I was arriving - I explained again why I was not turning up and they really didn't care, even when I said I would not be using them again in the future.

Excellent value, Pragmatism extreme

Room was just as advertised, nice and clean and tidy. Booked 3 nights for a business trip, and the room met all my needs, a place to stay at night, a clean toilet and shower, and a lovely breakfast in the morning. All for a very friendly price. Staff were friendly and took my requests and questions into consideration as well. Couldn’t recommend more for someone who values utility over unnecessary luxury.

The staff we spoke to whilst there were all friendly and helpful. Our room was clean when we arrived, some stains found on the base of the beds, what looked like burn marks on some parts of the carpets. But overall a lovely little place to stay, close to Victoria coach station and also the underground.

When we got there, they showed us to our room then five minutes later they knocked and made us change rooms. They booked us in a room at the very top of the property, at least five flights of stairs. The heating wasn’t working when we got back at about 11 pm and there was no one at the front desk to talk to. The room was super tiny and felt like I was a prisoner at the top of a tower. Really terrible experience and I will pay more for anything nicer next time.

Good central location. I had booked the OYO Bakers hotel for a friends 40th. The gentleman on reception was excellent. I had bought banners to put up in the room, which he was happy to do. He decorated the room further with balloons for us. Rooms were clean and tidy. Water pressure was fine.

Nice staff, great location, needs revamped

Hotel is great 5/10min walk from Victoria Station. Staff friendly on desk however never seen anyone else, either at breakfast or cleaning the rooms. 3 night stay and had 1 large towel and 1 small towel that wasn't changed. Stayed on top floor and no aircon but room had a large fan that had to remain on all night due to incredibly close conditions. Overall cleanliness of room was poor; stained curtains and wall, holes in ceiling and bathroom needed remedial work done in certain areas. However location was the main reason I chose this and price was competitive to area and time of visit.

We were situated in a very small room right by the entrance to the hotel which was very noisy, the bathroom was a bit grubby and it was generally very small, the room and the bathroom.
The worst bit was we ended up with massive bites all over us from the bed, don’t expect to have bed bugs in a hotel bed!

Better described as a budget B&B than a hotel. Bed was very comfortable. Pink stain on 1 pillow. Otherwise quite clean. Breakfast was cheap own brand sliced bread and plastic packaged pastries. Expect better quality food from a chain hotel. Staff were fine and the stay went smoothly.

Great quiet location. The gentleman checked us in and stayed there was fabulous. He helped get our COVID test shipped out & recommended tourist attraction. The room was small as described but I was surprised at how small. We only slept there so tolerated that well. My only issue was it was so hot in the room. He gave us an extra fan but still really to hot for me. I think that’s more mother natures fault than the hotel or staff.

Nightmare at OYO

I made a reservation 12 months in advanced and was arriving late. When i arrived, the hotel clerk checked my reservation and told me OYO had cancelled it without attempting to contact me and resold to somebody else because the payment amount wasn't right. He then called his manager who started to shout at him over the phone for calling him so late (it was around midnight) and told him to deal with it. I was then given the option of paying an additional £80 for 2 box rooms or to go and sleep on the street. I paid the additional money. The breakfast included was nice.

PROS- initially a friend and myself where nervous as the price was amazingly cheap for 2 nights (25th-27th) We where wrong to be nervous. The area is very quiet, we had a front facing room and neither of us could hear traffic or drunken chants. The hotel is situated perfectly. Victoria Station took less than 10minutes to walk to, it took us 30minutes to walk to trafalgar square (it would of taken quicker) but we where admiring the buildings as we walked. If people don't like walking, there's bus stops practically every 50 foot. There are cafes and some basic shops within a couple minutes walk. Extremely clean, we've stayed in 1 star to 5star hotels and this hotel had the cleanest bathroom we've ever seen. The cleanliness levels of the room where apsolutely perfect. Room size was on the small side but that matches the price so no complaints there. We had twin beds, both where very comfy. Breakfast was relaxed, nice range of cereals, juices/drinks and pastries. Customer service was perfection. The main man that basically runs it, I feel terrible for forgetting his name, was an apsolute star. Nothing was too much trouble. He was extremely polite and pleasent. We will definitely be staying again. The only reason I am writing a couple of cons next is for the benefit of other people.
CONS- (not for us)
No lift- there's stairs leading down to the kitchen and to all the floors.
Small bathroom-room bathroom is on the small side. If your Obese you will struggle.
TV loses reception.

The property was recently renovated and is lovely. We had a double/twin with en-suite (room 4) While small was very accommodating. Beds are comfortable, a fluffier pillow would be nice 😋. Room was quiet and hot water plentiful. We opted to sleep with the window open so a bit noisy early morning but if your doing it right you’re tired enough it doesn’t matter 😃. We did find it odd that the room was not attended to daily. It seemed every other day the duvee was just pulled up and trash emptied.

Located just a few blocks from Victoria Station makes access to everything quick and easy

We did not take advantage of the continental breakfast however did take a peek and the dining room is neat and tidy and the food (cereal, fruit, breads, meats, juice...) looked fresh.

All of the reception staff seemed very nice and attentive

only *issue I had, while checking out early morning, man at counter had headphones on and was watching porn 😒

2 - I don’t think he realized he had the sound set to headphones and speaker.

4- I’m glad my young traveling companion detoured to coffee and didn’t see that

It’s a traditional British hotel, so be warned, there are a lot of stairs. Our room was very clean and decently maintained. It sometimes took a bit to get hot water running but once it did, the temperature did not fluctuate. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to a major underground station and there are some stores there and a food court which is convenient. The character of the building and neighbourhood is fantastic.

The location was perfect. The hotel has been newly renovated. Staff were great and the free breakfast suited our needs. We had room 12 which had a double and a single. Although cramped, the location made it all worth while.
Just a bit of constructive criticism and certainly not a complaint - We felt more shelves in the cupboard and maybe in the bathroom would help.
And I repeat - other than that we loved our stay.

Pleasant place to stay, room was somewhat small but manageable. The bathroom shower was also small and there is no A/C here nor a fan. We opened the window but only went up halfway, thankfully the weather was pleasant but street was noisy. Breakfast was not really much for options at all, but nice to have something to start. Many stairs to climb as well, but wi-fi was working well.

A good budget option with clean rooms, albeit very small (our two small suitcases took up all the floor space, making it difficult to get around the room or even open the bathroom door etc). There was also no wifi for the 3 days of our stay. The owner claimed that wifi was out in the entire area and not the fault of the hotel, which may have been true (I have no way to know) - however, as a foreign traveler without cell phone data, not having wifi in the hotel was definitely inconvenient.

Clean rooms, bit small. Poor customer service, was told we couldn’t check in due to renovations, which we was never told about prior to check in. We came up from wales on a 4/5 hour bus journey to be told we can’t check in, and that we had to come back at 4pm, even though we was told we could check in at 2pm. Then asked to put our bags somewhere, was told to leave them in breakfast room which had no locks on, no security with everyone having access to it. I then asked if there was a more secure place to put my bags, I was rudely spoken to saying that no, and that they have never had an issue of theft. However this was not ok, I wanted a safe place for my suitcase and belongings and was told this would not be provided. To top it all off, I was told that I’ve paid £50 for this room so what do I expect? How ridiculous, because I have paid a lower price that means I’m am subjected to poor customer service??? Ridiculous, we was shouted at, rudely spoken too from the start. If we knew there was reconstruction going on we wouldn’t have stayed there, as the builders were there making a noise till 5:30 and back again at half past 8. Not something you want when you’re staying in a hotel. Once we said we was going to leave and go to another hotel to my surprise our room was suddenly ready? Don’t understand why all this hassle happened if our room was clearly ready from the start?

Great location in nice neighbourhood

Hotel is very close to Victoria station. Twin ensuite looked like it was recently renovated. I would suggest installing hooks for towels in the bathroom. Overall very happy ☺

Brilliant base but too hot

The area was a brilliant base, being so close to Victoria station and with several restaurants and cafes nearby. The room was quite small, but it was clean and tidy. The breakfast was very simple, with a choice between croissants, toast and cereal, and a mix of drinks, but there was plenty there and no limit on what you ate. The worst part was the heat, as our room was at the top of the building and with no air conditioning

What you're paying for here is the neighborhood and the proximity to Victoria coach and underground station. Its a very good neighborhood.
Yes, it is a walkup and it is a shared bath. If you umderstand that - it's a very good one. Very clean and quiet, with a pleasant and helpful staff. Any other bugaboo is circumstancial at best.

Room far too small only just fitted double bed no room to move , no mirror where hairdryer was situated , just too small for purpose should be single room not a double , asked before going if could have twin room no answer

Paid twice

Cheap room good nice area close to coach and train area, a bit like a sardine tin but cheap. Would have enjoyed stay more but paid twice for room once by card and due to late arrival charged again.will have to see about a refund.

Terrible room service ,toilet was constantly running, main entry under renovation, TV didn’t work satellite problem ? Very dirty all around the hotel maybe because the renovation. breakfast not too bad. Location is excellent because is close to the Victoria Main terminal, and also close to main attractions.

Poor and unfriendly Hotel Experience

We had booked three nights at the hotel and was hoping for the hotel to provide us with an early check-in after a long flight with two young children when we got told that it was not possible and further stated it does not matter even if we booked four or five nights. The family room number 2 at the lower floor was pathetic and rundown. We can hear creaking sounds from people walking on the upper floor and the hot water system was not working properly.
It says the room are serviced daily but it was not. Towels are not changed and rubbish bin was not emptied.
It appears to us that all they want is to have you checked in and expect nothing more. Reception was not 24 hours as there is a note on the office door that receptionist is out for a short time but is otherwise.
The staff was unfriendly and not helpful. Bakers Hotel is no longer a hotel we will stay in forever.

Awful. Pay a bit extra for a nicer experience.

Location was good.
Breakfast looked awful so went elsewhere.
The room was so cramped and tiny, could not open the bathroom as the stench was so awful. We had to buy febreeze to try and mask it.
Was generally scruffy and basic. When we turned the TV on, the previous guest had been watching 'adult channels'. There was no central heating and it was absolutely freezing. We were told they would bring us radiators but they did not. I also had to endure the coldest shower of my entire life.

The room wasnt cleaned whilst we were staying there (2 nights) If we were going to spend more time in the room, we would have paid and stayed elsewhere.

When we got there I noticed that it was not a hotel but a bed and breakfast/hotel. On the website (Hotels.com) it says hotel, there was no hot water, I asked the staff to on site to fix the toilet seat and make sure there was hot water and nothing was done.

It was an horrible experience! The heating was not working! The water in the shower was totally cold! We found few hair on the bed and a lot of dust in the room. There is writed \"24h reception\" and it's not true at all! We were looking for someone to help us but the reception was closed! So we had to left this hotel and book another room!
It's unacceptable

We chose this hotel for it's location and it served it's purpose well. The rooms were not sound proofed as we could hear other guests throughout the day/night. The hotel itself is quite old and outdated, but for a place to sleep and keep our bags during the day it was an overall good experience.

Basic Hotel. Ok for 1 night.

If you have a big heavy bag and your room is on the top floor...that's not the best option.
No lift...room small so for one night is fine to stay! If you want that hotel for long holidays, I do not recommend it.

Avoid the hotel. Do not ruin your stay in London!

I am a frequent traveler (have been in 30 countries), and this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my entire life. Unfortunately, there is no zero-star rating, so I had to give it one star. If the hotel is for free or if even they would give you money to stay in it, AVOID IT.

I arrived late and I was told to wait to get my room after 2 hours although it was already paid for. Also, the staff was very unprofessional. They did not even use to reply when I talked to them as they do not care what the guests say. They also did not clean my room for my while whole stay of 5 nights. I was also told not to use the sink in the room because something is broken and they would not fix it before I leave. Very small room and no hot water in the showers. Also, the breakfast is a joke. I only saw some tea in an underground kitchen.

Could be better

Tiny -nano- room in shabby facility in fairly central location. Staff friendly and conscientious about service. Did include basic but sufficient breakfast. Generally not real pleased with this experience.
