Perfect spot to explore England. Only a 10 minutes from King's Cross, it allowed us to explore all of London as well as catch a train to Dover and Winchester. Able to check in early and quitr clean accommodations. Recommended for any future guests.

We really had hoped to leave a positive review on this hotel.

First of all we would state all staff were friendly and, as far as they could be helpful.

But there failings stem from management, design and direction.

I guess from time to time you get a “challenging “ hotel stay - and this was one.

We arrived early, which was our problem and waited 40 minutes to the official check in time. It was about 45-50 minutes later and, at reception, we were told that room had not yet be cleared to check in on the system. That is a system fault and does not meet stated terms.

The to the room, about which more later. It was not in the building but a modern pod construction outside with an open air walkway to room. One in the room there appeared no door to the bathroom. When queried at reception we were looked at as if we were not all there. Problem - a sliding door which had no backstop and someone had retracted it so that it was neither visible nor accessible. Maintenance came, very pleasant, and fixed by sticking a finger or tool into some space in the upper rail recess; seemed to suggest to my wife she could have done same. Not only is she 75 years old, but the deficiency was a room service issue and should have been reported/dealt with buy housekeeping or maintenance before being cleared - another systemic failing. Then to cap it all, when leaving to checkout after two nights my wife fell over a step in the hotel just inside a door from outside into the main building!

We stayed in the Virginia Woolf suite which provided lots of space for our family of four. Excellent bedroom and bed. Larger bathroom than in some hotels here. We knew there was no a/c and despite the heat, we utilized fans and kept drapes closed when out and it was fine. Decent coffee in the room.

Bloomsbury area south of the hotel (Lamb Conduit st) is lovely to wander and get a drink/food. We walked from Covent Garden in 20 mins.

Walking north to Kings Cross was 10 mins - easy to hail a cab when with luggage. Hung out in Granary Sq (great for kids) and visited The Lightroom.

Only quirk is breakfast set up located in basement where you check in. Space is teeny tiny but the staff don’t really let you grab and go (which would be ideal). Definitely worth the walk over to the college for breakfast - lots of space and choices. Just abit confusing initially.

Overall, convenient location for Eurostar and hard to beat size of the suite. Very quiet setting given location to Kings Cross. Recommend.

A nice space and location. The decorations and ammenities for the room are well done. However, it needs some maintenance and new carpet. The carpet was all stained and disgusting in our room and hallways. And there were chips and repairs in the walls that were not touched up with paint. And there is NO A/C.

Not good enough hotel

There was no air conditioning in our room, and with outside temperatures reaching around 30°C, the room itself felt just as hot—if not hotter. We were placed on the top floor, which not only intensified the heat but also meant climbing several flights of very narrow stairs with luggage and a young family, as there were no elevators. Our room faced south, which only worsened the situation by allowing direct sunlight to stream in for most of the day. To make matters worse, the refrigerator in the room overheated and was actually emitting additional heat, requiring a service call just to have it unplugged. Overall, it was a very uncomfortable and disappointing stay, and certainly not worth the price we paid.

This hotel is trying to price itself to look like it's at the quality end of the market, but it fails to deliver. A stuffy attic room with cheap, lumpy foam rubber filled pillows and no lift doesn't justify the price tag. So - no, it isn't \"good enough.\"

Room was nice and clean. Sofa bed was not very comfortable for my children however. We had a room on the top floor which was up 3 flights of stairs, obviously without lifts this was very hard to get to with luggage as the last set of stairs was very steep and tight.

Breakfast was a strange experience, firstly we had trouble finding the breakfast room located in the college over the road, secondly it felt like we were back at school and had to be quiet whilst we were eating which was difficult with 2 children and thirdly I don't think it was worth the amount we spent on breakfast to be honest.

Location was not too bad although we were expecting it to be a bit closer to Euston.

The experience was not great. The WiFi barely worked, cut out nonstop. Do not plan to work if you stay here and need internet.
No elevator. Travel light, otherwise - may end up lugging a heavy suitcase up 4 flights or stairs.
The 4th floor is quite warm and the fan sounded like a lawn mower.

Very nice clean accomodation. Staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful.
Room was well appointed and clean. Would have been better if we could have worked out how do cast to the TV, instructions were given but it didn't work. Coffee machine seemed to be a bit temperamental. But small niggles, generally a very decent hotel. Best thing for us was the location, which was quiet, down a wide leafy street opposite a children's park. Lovely, quiet and safe. Ten mins walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras and ten mins from Russell Square and British Museum.

Historic cozy hotel

The room is very small but extremely cozy and well appointed. It felt perfect on a rainy weekend in London. My room was on the third floor and the hotel has no elevators. However, the staff was more than happy to carry my bag us and then retrieve it at the end of my stay. The Hotel is in a lovely neighborhood and the hotel has an interesting history that is elegantly displayed around the hotel.

Hotel Goodenough was not good enough.

I travel significantly for busines and pleasure and this trip had both.

Two core issues. One there is no elevator in this “hotel”. I do not have a more permanent disability but suffer from arthritis and a bad knee both of which can flare.

The room I had booked was only available 3 floors up and there was no elevator. The front desk person was not into any thoughtful solutions. The main solution was to offer me a “family room” for somewhere in the 50-75 pounds extra. This room was also not on the main floor but only 1 floor away.

The front desk person was less than helpful or accommodating and I was told this is a hotel in Europe.

At 10 pm at night I left to get another hotel.

Am still waiting for resolution on a refund with hotels.com.

In the meanwhile, I would caution against staying here unless you have a confidence in your room and location. I would also encourage this property to come into 2024 and add an elevator or make it part of the written description of your property.

A nice, comfortable hotel, closer to the feel of a large guest house. My room was spotless and even though it was one of the small budget single rooms, it was nicely decorated and came with everything you would expect in a four star hotel. There is no bar or restaurant - although breakfast is served nearby. It’s a beautiful location - quiet, yet close to a huge number of bars and restaurants and cultural spots. My one complaint, and the reason I didn’t award five stars, is that my room was warm, even with the window open and heading off, in October. There was no AC and no fan and I imagine on a warm summer night that it could be oppressive.

It was just one night but it was wonderful! At check-in when I discovered there was no lift, the very kind gentleman at registration gifted me an upgrade to a ground floor room. Then he helped me with my two rolling bags to my room! Yes, I will gladly stay again. Beautiful and comfortable room. Very nice dinner in the restaurant at the college.

A tremendously enjoyable stay in a truly beautiful space. After booking many months ahead of our stay, it was such an unexpected surprise to roll in near midnight exhausted from our flight and open the door to the Dorothy Sayers Suite - a generous upgrade from our initial booking. Gorgeously appointed room, with every luxury in place, beautifully decorated, and enormous view onto the quiet street and leafy park from our cavernous lounge and dining area. Centrally and conveniently located in the heart of Bloomsbury, quiet upmarket neighbourhood. Very professional staff. Bed so comfortable you didn’t want to get up in the morning! After this experience, I don’t think we’ll be booking anywhere else but here when we return next year. Thank you.

There are no lifts, so be prepared to carry your bags up/down stairs or request assistance from staff. The 2 closest train stations are each about a 13 minute walk.

We booked family room courtyard view for family of 4. It was expensive and pretty awful. The room was as noted on the sub floor level. It did open to the outside. There was no air circulation. No fans or central ventilation. A sliding patio door style set was available but inadequate to cool the room and it allowed outside hallway noise in. The room itself was clean. The bathroom was so small. I chose this because it seemed better than a standard hotel room with 2 beds but the reality was the room was so small and the lack of circulation awful. Would have been better off at a main hotel or paying a little more for 2 rooms.

The Goodenough Hotel was a perfect location for me, 10 minute walk from Kings Cross Station. Staff was very helpful and kept my luggage before and after checkout. I did not have breakfast, but there was a coffee machine in the room and options a shirt walk away. There was no WiFi in my room, hence removing a star. I would expect the WiFi to work for the price of the stay. I would stay again if I knew that I could connect to the internet.
