The room was not clean and showed a lot of wear. The mattress felt like a pullout couch - there was something in the center - maybe 2 smaller mattresses pushed together? But it sloped and creaked. I was honestly astounded. The worst mattress I've ever slept on. When I asked to switch rooms, the person I spoke with was unprofessional and rude. Would never stay here again and will tell everyone I know to avoid.

This was our third stay at the Nolitan, and per usual, the experience did not disappoint. The corner room is immaculate, complete with a soaking tub. Staff is beyond friendly and accommodating. The location is also PRIMO, on the edge of the both the lower east side and SoHo. We cannot wait to return.

I’ve been staying here regularly for years. The new owners need to make some comprehensive but rudimentary upgrades to justify the price:
- the furniture (all of it) is old and janky, including the curtains
- AC is loud and intermittent
- TVs look like something out of 2007
- they’ve installed automatic light sensors in the bathroom. Who wants a massive bright light to ping on when you’re having a pee at 2am?? Nobody, that’s who.
- the pillows are as flat as a pancake
- the new cardboard room keys are a disaster. They don’t work properly meaning you end up going back down to reception for a new one.
- the rooftop has been closed since the new owners took it over - such a shame.
(On the flip side, the staff are amazing. Always so welcoming and flexible and helpful and kind. None of the above is a reflection on them whatsoever.)

The room felt neglected, there was several signs that the room was not cleaned thoroughly including the sheets, the counter tops, and other items being extremely dusty. The towels had stains on them and it wasn't as advertised. I would advise against staying here personally for a four star rated hotel.

The bed frame sticks out beyond the bed and since there is only about 15” between the bed frame and the wall, in an angle, I hit the frame all the time with my shin which really hurt since it’s wood.

Both the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. The rooms are large for Manhattan with a large bathroom. I love having a mini fridge too. Only downside was the bed. Stiff, not comfortable, I tried my sides and my back and woke up with everything hurting. It's my 2nd stay here. Love it, but those beds are rough.

From the moment I arrived everybody was very friendly. I especially enjoyed the room as it had a ceiling fan! The room was a little on the small side, so I was happy that I was traveling alone. The bathroom was quite large and I enjoyed the shower! It was nice having a balcony with the view of the lights. I was there for the feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy, which was a block and a half down. Very convenient!

I recently moved to this hotel as an upgrade from a previous stay, expecting something nicer given the substantially higher cost. Unfortunately, the room I received was in very poor condition. The bedding and blanket were stained, as was the carpet. The toilet paper holder was so loose and crooked that the paper kept falling off. Overall, the room was dirty, poorly maintained, and nowhere near the standard I would expect for a $500-per-night stay.
The service was also disappointing and did not reflect the level of hospitality one should expect at this price point. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this hotel—there are far better alternatives in the city for the same cost.

Run down and feels gross.
The hotel is very run down, I was super disappointed. I never leave bad reviews but seriously this was not good at all. I hardly slept because of how loud the AC was and the lights randomly turned themselves on and off. The staff are extremely friendly - it’s not their fault that management won’t invest in the property.

The service and location was the highlight of the hotel for me. The staff working the front desk were all exceptionally friendly and helpful.They went out of their way to assist us on several occasions. Really made a difference. Loved the location! Can't beat it. I booked a confirmed room at The Nolitan the morning of my flight. My husband and I arrived early at 1:30 PM — well ahead of their 3:00 PM check-in — and were told the room wasn’t ready. No problem, we left our bags and went out, assuming we’d return to a ready room as promised.
Instead, at 3:15 PM — after check-in time — we get a casual phone call saying, “Sorry, we’re overbooked. We won’t be able to accommodate you.” No real apology. No empathy. Just a flat, scripted line delivered by the front desk like we were a minor inconvenience. When I asked why we weren’t told earlier when we were standing at the front desk, their excuse? “The front desk didn’t know.”
Let me be clear: I am pregnant. I had just gotten off a flight, walked through the city, and was depending on a place to rest. Not only did they not offer an apology that felt remotely sincere, they made zero effort to fix the situation. No offer to rebook us elsewhere, no upgrade, no compensation — not even a bottle of water.
We were left standing in NYC with our luggage and nowhere to go — and they didn’t care in the slightest. For a hotel that brands itself as boutique luxury, they offer the warmth and care of a bus terminal.
Honestly, if you enjoy gambling with your travel plans, go ahead and book here. Otherwise, run.

Perfect location, nice vibe and restaurant. It feels like livinf in the best neighborhood in NYC. Close to subways, bikes, art and shopping. The rooms are a bit run down, but our largest issue was that the internet is non existent. Something about the building seems to interfere with signals, even cel signal is not great. So it was not possible for me to work in the room.
