Cellai Boutique Hotel is well located, an easy walk to the city center & a reasonable walk from the train station. The room was comfortable with an efficient use of space. The breakfast included a variety of tasty options, both cold & hot. Coffee was plentiful & staff quickly replenished foods & cleaned tables which were completed. Front desk staff was similarly helpful. I peeked onto the rooftop terrace though visiting local exhibitions didn’t allow much time for sitting. The lobby bar was low key, with a wide variety of excellent spirits. There are various seating areas off the lobby entrance where one can sit & chat or read. I highly recommend this hotel for your visit to Florence!

No breakfast this time as I had an early morning flight. Having stayed there a few weeks before, the breakfast was very good.

I stayed there several weeks prior and had some issues with my room and the cost associated with it. I wasn’t looking forward to staying there again but no problems this time and was happy with my room.

The rooftop terrace was an absolute gem, you can see the Duomo from the upper most deck, and it’s a quiet refuge from a long day around town. Our room & beds were comfy. The staff made the stay perfect. Front desk and the morning breakfast crew(the breakfast spread was wonderful!)were all very kind. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

A lovely stay!

We had a lovely stay. The breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options and plenty of seating. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and even had a mini fridge which was a pleasant surprise. The rooftop deck was beautiful and the hotel staff were friendly. The hotel is in a good location, a 10 to 15 minute walk to the train station and close to shopping, restaurants and laundromats. The Central Market is a short walk from the hotel and a good dining option. The hotel is on an active but quiet street near a nice park which is well lit at night.

Upon arrival, I was given a room upgrade. Staff were friendly and addressed all questions enthusiastically. The room was spacious, a little worn with age, the safe did not function, the hallway carpeting from stairs to the room was a little dirty. On other floors, the carpets looked fine. The lobby had numerous sitting rooms which were quite nice. The hotel location was sufficient to hit all local tourist areas by foot (required a bit of walking). Hotel is within a 14 minute walk to the metro station. I would stay again, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to stay here again.

It is a very nice hotel. It has everything we needed to spend some days in Florence, and many tourist attractions were within walking distance. We enjoyed the breakfast where the buffet had plenty of choices. The hotel looked clean and well-maintained.

How could it be a 4 stat hotel?! I guess even motel would be more clean and better. Terrible bed and mattress! Let me not talk about the look of the bathroom and shower! Thank God we were just there for 2 nights and not worth to change. Staff were nice, breakfast was good. But seriously how could it be 4 star!!!!

2nd stay and will stay again

This is the 2nd time I've stayed at this hotel and I will stay again in the future. We had 2 rooms. One family room (which was huge) and one regular room (1 queen bed). The family room was more updated vs the 1 regular room so it is clear they do need to do some updates. The ac was cold. The water was hot. The beds were comfortable enough but the pillows were thin. Located is perfect. Close enough to walk to everything important. You can't go wrong with staying at this hotel.

We only stayed one night but it was a great stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and understanding. The location was great and the attached bar was a fun place to relax in at the end of the day. The hotel and rooms are unique with the eclectic boutique style of all of the art and furniture. Everything has a charm and lived-in feel without being gross or old. The bed was comfortable enough and the three of us shared a room just fine.

Avoid if you want a 'boutique'. Not a true 4 star

Not a boutique hotel, and not a 4 star as rest of world understands.

The hotel seems to have applied 'boutique' as presentational spin to try to paper over how old it is.

Flying out of Florence airport in the morning, we just wanted somewhere reasonably central for 1 night.

While lobby and some upper corridors look quite nice, the moment you get into the rabbit warren to reach the bedrooms it becomes clear how old it is. (There is a lift but it is tiny & ancient, you need to carry bags up a flight of stairs from lobby first, then up and down stairs again to reach many rooms)

The room we were given simply did not match in condition, upkeep or level of comfort the website pictures/description.

When we challenged this we were told the hotel was fully booked, and nothing could be done (it was now quite late at night so we decided we would just go to bed).
It smells old, not in a good way. Especially in rooms and corridors, less downstairs.

Overnight we then noticed quite how hot and stuffy the room became, despite having the A/C turned on (utterly ineffective) and noticed how dirty & worn the room was generally.
Bathroom tiny, about the size of a small wardrobe.

Reception suggested we visit their 'wonderful roof terrace with an honesty bar'. What we found: Ashtrays full of cigarette butts, rusty empty fridge. View certainly not incredible.

Main complaint: Quality simply does not match photos description. Not boutique, not 4 star (has bidet to tick box)

As a solo traveler, I accepted that the room was relatively small but more than adequate. The only problem I had was that the room faced a large area with many water pipes (I often heard running water). Perhaps because of the water, I had an invasion of mosquitos and had 50 bites. I should have mentioned it to the staff earlier as they did offer to fumigate the room. As I was leaving the next day, I declined the offer. I am certain it would have been a better situation.

The hotel staff was quite courteous and the location was great. The room was small and had an old time charm and also quite clean, but it was noisy at times as it was lcoated right next to the stairs. The toilet would also not flush at times.

The breakfast was great too. I would definitely recommend this place.

This was an average hotel. It was clean - everyone was nice. However, the air conditioning in the room did not work. It was hot and stuffy. Also they need to change the time of their breakfast. We had a tour to go on and we couldn’t eat or have coffee before we left. Most places start at 7

This hotel is nothing like the pictures, it is very outdated. Our room was extremely dirty with hair everywhere from the previous guests, the dust buildup on everything was gross. The shower was clogged, toilet seat kept falling apart. The closeness of the different attractions is definitely further than written.

Such a beautiful hotel! The receptionist with blond/brown curly hair with glasses was very kind and smiled often. The rest of the women weren't so warm and welcoming. Abdi (short for Abdullah) was a star employee. He was the one person running around every day from helping in the restaurant during breakfast to being a bellboy. He was friendly and attentative at all times. He made it clear that he wanted me to have a good stay. I complained of having to shower in cold water for the 3 days, but the warm water only came for one day after the complaint. Fortunately the hotel provided a room upgrade, but it was only a day before my check out. Overall, though, I thought the hotel was great and I would recommend it to family and friends traveling to Florence.

At first I booked a twin room and it was awful, bugs in bathroom, extremely tiny room. I then upgraded for 30 euros a night more for a queen room and it was very good and AC was great.

We were in Florence for less than 24 hours so this hotel worked perfectly for us. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived in the morning so we stored our luggage and headed out to explore Florence. We liked the location of this hotel a lot. The staff was very friendly and helpful when we needed taxis. It was very hot in Florence when we were there (August) so the AC could have been better but I think it was just so hot no amount of AC would have helped. The bed was comfortable and the hotel itself is very cute and has a fun history. We would definitely stay here again.

The hotel hallways are not clean. The air conditioning in our room don't work. When we ask for another room, they send us a fan, and after that they sent a portable air condition that send the hot air in our room.
They said that they don't have any other room. After we complained again, they move us to another room.
The customer service was not good.

A charming little hotel, with very helpful staff who are conversant in multiple languages (including English). One odd thing about my room: it had no place to sit aside from the bed. But then again there are many public areas, with very comfortable seating, so it was easy enough to work around.

it is close to everything but away from touristic paths
however the 4 star rating is a bit of an excess
hotel is in need of a makeover and some repairs, windows do not have noise isolation and the door to the rooms are thin hence you can hear everything and you can also be heard

A Gem near great food and drink

This is a true boutique hotel and an absolute gem. It is an older building with many niches and corners and turns. It is fun navigating it. The staff is wonderful. They have an \"Honesty Bar\" where, when there is no bartender on duty, you can mix your own and declare it on a list to pay later. The breakfast spread was endless and scrumptious. There is a nice little lounge area on the room which offers some decent views. The street is a little earthy in their block but it is well located to the important sights. The rooms were good, comfortable with everything we needed. I certainly commend it highly.

Comfortable and clean rooms with a great shared roof top space, which has a nice view of Il Duomo from the top level. Partnership with a local garage provides a valet service for an extra charge. Good breakfast and an honor bar system. Bring cash for the city tax. Close walk to attractions, but far enough away to have some quiet. WiFi was dependable.

Average hotel... not good air conditioning

I went to Florence In July the weather was really hot about 31degrees, the AC in the room did not make the room cold enough to feel comfortable. It resulted in the staff providing with an additional fan to put in our room.
We had an issue with locking our door.
There was a strange smell from the shower and some of the breakout rooms down stairs.
They do not have black out curtains so woken by the daylight.
The breakfast was good and location was fairly central to everything.
Overall it was average however wouldn’t stay there again, as we was only there for 2nights it was okay.

My Preferred Hotel when in Florence

A charming hotel within walking distance of the train station, Duomo and Mercato Centrale that extends a welcome and cozy comfort to guests. A short walk straight up from the train station on Via Nazionale by Piazza Independenza, guests enjoy comfortable guest rooms with tea service and WiFi throughout, several small nicely decorated public rooms, a small daily tea service, full bar with indoor and outdoor seating and a nice breakfast. The staff is friendly and remembers you, one of my “musts” for a good rating. The Terrace was closed due to the rain but looks to be another spot to enjoy in good weather. I’ve stayed elsewhere in Florence and now Cellai Boutique Hotel is my choice when in Florence.

Check in was a breeze. The bed was comfortable and the shower was a good mix of rain and a handheld spray. The rooftop garden was comfortable with a nice breeze and good views. There were good restaurants near the hotel.
