Nect time we go to Florence we we stay here , buy take a larger room. Double standard is not the standard we are use to, but it as ok, and very clean, thank you to the staff of cleaning.

We tremendously enjoyed staying at the hotel Martelli for three nights. Our room was clean and well laid out for 2 people. The beds and pillows were comfortable (after we added the 2nd pillow). The bathroom was spacious and accommodating. The staff was exceptionally attentive and responded to all of our needs. The front desk staff gave great tips on making use of our very short time, arranged taxis quickly for tourism, and, to the airport. In addition, they were kind and humorous. I highly recommend this hotel for someone who would like to stay in Florence for great location, great accommodations, great service and a moderate budget!

Fantastic location and just minutes from the train station. The common areas of the hotel live up to what you see on the WEB, but it ends there. The actual room is shabby at best and in need of refurbishing. Will do for the normal short 1-3 day visit to Florence that most tourists do. But we were there for two full weeks. only six very small drawers, only the desk chair to sit in, 3 foot + leg lift to get in the tub and only the pipe holding the shower to hold on to. 24 hr front desk with friendly helpful service, but nothing else. Lots of places to eat within a block. At over $360 a night it seemed expensive for what you got.

Very Wonderful staff. I can only speak of the room I stayed in, which was probably once an attic space. The bathroom was clean and modern, but the room itself could use a little work. But overall, I enjoyed it. The hotel is an old Italian style building. The breakfast included was nice and basic. The location cannot be beat. I would suggest when booking a room here to make sure you have a double bed or larger.

My mom & I loved our stay here. Mom has mobility issues so the elevator came in handy. It was also a close enough walk to the duomo for an easy walk for us both. The hotel itself was lovely and this was the first hotel we stayed in our Europe trip where the breakfast was included. The staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel.

I would give 5 stars, except for the A/C which cannot be controlled, no soap dish in the shower (must use the floor!), no conditioner provided in bathroom, 5% of the shower water drains onto the bathroom floor thus soaking the floor.
Otherwise, a 5-star hotel with a decent breakfast and fantastic location!

Location is good. near by train station and Duomo and many others things and places. Room and furniture were very old. room come with breakfast and it was OK. provided daily room make up. The room was very clean and daily housekeeping, so nice to come back to a tidy room and bed made. Employees all spoke at least enough English to accommodate a non Italian speaker. They have an arrangement with a taxi service and were kind enough to book a taxi for my very early flight (7am). Excellent location in the heart of the city center and with a very good price.

It’s a beautiful hotel in a perfect location. So traditional and yet has all you need!
The staff were really lovely and kindly spoke English to us! The breakfast was perfectly Italian and they had little chocolate eggs out for us on Easter Sunday which was cute!
The hotel is like a maze! Huge, and you feel part of the Florence history trying to work out where your room is , passing through little areas set up like dining rooms! I stayed with my 13 year old daughter and she said it was very fancy, and loved the chandeliers!

The hotel location is absolutely 5 stars with convenient walking distance to all major attractions. But the facility is about average. For comfortable sleeping, it can be just 1 star for a room next to street- very noisy or 3 stars in a quieter room in the middle of the facility. We ere given a room with window to street, we could not sleep at all whole night with constant noises from street. The front desk staff kindly changed an inside room for us which was much quieter, had good 2 nights of sleep. In general, I think it is a kind of average as whole with 3 stars.

This is a budget hotel and it certainly feels like one. Booked last minute due to a change in travel plans and it was fine- no frills whatsoever. It’s very well located to all of the main sites in Florence and felt pretty safe and clean. Breakfast was simple but a good way to start the day. Street noise at night but that is to be expected due to the location. If you are looking to be in the mix and don’t plan on spending a lot of time in the room, it is a decent choice for the price.

Very unsafe for seniors or anybody over 5 foot

The hotel is beautiful but the shower/bathtub is very unsafe. You need to step up over 24 inches into the tiny little bathtub that has a slope in it making it unsafe to stand in. The shower lever did not stay up so if u want continuous water during your shower you need to hold it on. Additionally, the width of the area is tiny, ensuring that you can only rotate like a rotisserie chicken, and your feet can at max be placed 5 inches apart. There is no bar to hold onto in the shower for stability.
The breakfast was disappointing.

The entire bathroom ceiling has ugly slats to prevent looking at the ventilation which are still slightly visible.

Toilet did not flush and the shower did not drain. We were given two twins when we booked a double. We asked to switch rooms upon noticing the shower issue and staff was abrasive and did not provide a solution. They said there were no more rooms and they could have a repair man come in the morning. They inquired why we were unhappy with the room after we told them the issues. We didn’t even mention the mold and peeling wallpaper in the room. The next morning they allowed us to move to a new room. This room had the bed we requested but the shower also did not drain. The door to the new room was nearly impossible to unlock and open and staff had to help us open the door. The hotel was not secure. We had to leave our room key at the desk when we left, but upon returning, all we had to give was our room number to be given access to the key, no security check to confirm our identity matched the name. Anyone could have walked in and said a room number and got the key to that room! Don’t stay here!

Needed a one night stay after flight was cancelled. Hotel rooms are basic but clean. Bathroom a bit worn but okay. It worked well for one night and is close to shopping and restaurants and the cathedral. The staff were very gracious. We inquired the day before if we could leave our bags before check in and we could. However when we arrived the next day at 10:30 am our room was ready for us. The manager made sure to have our room cleaned first. Exceptional service.

Location of the hotel is perfect to see the main attractions in Florence. The hotel is spotlessly clean. We asked to change rooms after the first night as the shower was in the bath and due to mobility problems I it was almost impossible to got in. It was a great location but it’s old. The parking is off site a several blocks down the road at a public parking garage. We arrived at 0300 after having a problem at another hotel we booked through hotels.com. The AC didn’t work in the first room we were given. The second room was smaller but fine for the 3 people staying in the room. There was a tub and a handheld shower but no walls on the tub to prevent water from getting out onto the floor. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. Bed was hard and not sure if the sheets were changed after the last guest.

The hotel’s best asset is the position to the city centre, literally a 3 minute stroll. The room was a good size but very tired and in need of a lick of paint. The breakfast was good and ample. The big downside was the mosquito problem, literally eaten alive at night with bites all over. I know this is a Florence problem and not just the hotel’s but even perhaps a simple bed net would have helped. Luckily, and unsurprisingly, the convenience stores and chemists are full of mosquito remedies.But if you are prone to mosquito bites please take some preparations with you.My tip would be to try out the Bullet train from Florence Station just a short walk from the hotel.We had a lovely day in Rome and it was so easy and the train was fast and efficient.

We had a very difficult time finding our rooms. We had to go up one elevator, walk through a room and them go up another elevator. Rooms 58 and 60.
It felt like a fire-trap. We only stayed one night.
When we opened the bathroom door it was couldn't open fully since it hit the bed.

This property was very central to Florence city centre, hotel was very Italy look and nice and clean But negative points where room air conditioning was very poor, room faced onto road works from 06.00. Asked to be moved to a back room next night, which receptionist did arrange only to be put in room 2 doors along from my original room facing onto main road, both mornings was a disgrace. Breakfast was very basic not any hot food available, and only a small choice.

Worst 3 Star Hotel Stay in Italy

Negatives included being given a room which hadn't been cleaned (rubbish in the Bin, Beds not made etc). Bathroom with no Toilet Paper/Soap etc. Extremely noisy exhaust fan activated with bathroom light woke sleeping partner when bathroom used at night. Breakfast barely passable by 3 star Hotel standards. Wifi does not cover rooms but a couple of public areas only.
Positive feature was that the Hotel is in an excellent location.
In summary we rated the Hotel Martelli the worst 3 star Hotel we stayed at over 3 weeks in Italy- it was also one of the most expensive. .
