The room was really nice, and was very clean and spacious, free drinks in the fridge and bits for the bathroom. Plenty of towels and option to clean room. However, no antibacterial soap in the bathroom.

Unfortunately can’t more stars as check in was very difficult, with unclear instructions.

We had paid city tax through Expedia then asked again to pay city tax when we arrived at the property. Following this, after checking out and arriving back in the UK was asked for a further payment of city tax.

My daughter and I had a great time in Venice and would highly recommend staying at Antico Protego. The room was spotless and comfortable. Nicole was excellent at responding quickly via WhatsApp and we received all info required prior to arriving. The location couldn’t be better with easy access to both the train station and the water shuttle. Also very close to many restaurants and other amenities. Had a tricky time finding it at first as the sign shown in the pictures is not there. Thank you to all staff for a lovely stay.

It was very close to several bars, trattoria, and restaurants on Cannaregio. The hotel (we had an interior room) is quite quiet, despite the convenience.
You're a 10-minute walk from the train station & only cross 1 bridge. The hotel is conveniently located to the old Jewish Quarter. There are 2 vaparetto stops between 5 and 7 minutes away. You are a 20 to 25-minute walk from Piazza San Marcos.

The room we had was pretty large with high ceilings - and painted ceilings. The bed was comfortable. Hotel staff was responsive to our requests.

Rooms were clean, great water pressure and fully modern bathrooms. It’s okay for a night or two but no comfortable chairs or sofas in the room so good for sleeping only. Would be nice to have a coffee machine vs instant coffee for the morning. Fridge was a great but loud at night. Location is far from the bus but manageable. You will be charged 4 euros per night per person so be prepared regardless if your booking said it was included or less. Staff was kind!

Yes room spotless staff was nice really no amenities just the room they let you in by keypad there isn’t someone onsite so you have to contact them through WhatsApp but I was fine with that! They give you snacks and drinks and a bottle of champagne complimentary which was great after a long train ride! There is a great restaurant right across the street and plenty of restaurants in that location! My only complaint was the mattress was too firm for me, I don’t like to sleep on cardboard but if you like that you will love this… my saving grace was the pillows there are plenty of them and they have a nice mix of firm/softness! Would I stay there again … yes 😘!

This just might be the perfect blend between Venice elegance and convenience. The Antico Portego is just down from the canals giving you a rare opportunity to enjoy Venice and not have to climb stairs with your luggage.
While getting there is easy, the area around our hotel was great too. Fun shopping, spots to enjoy a glass of wine, and food options are all right outside the door.
Lastly, our room was elegant. There was far more space than the typical room and it was updated and quiet.
What else could you ask for?

The hotel is in a great location on a side street and very quiet. The room was modern and clean. The bathroom was a nice size. There is no fridge or safe in the room. And no shelves or hooks in the bathroom for storage. The staff were wonderful and very responsive to email. They also have a spot to lock luggage if you arrive early, or have some time before leaving Venice. You can avoid carrying your luggage up and down bridges by taking the vaparetto from the train station to S Marcuolo stop, no bridges!

The hotel had no on-site staff and only one entrance and the door malfunctioned and wouldn’t unlock. This was a once in a lifetime trip to Venice for us and it was ruined by this ridiculous issue. My wife talked to an employee at the restaurant next door and found out that the hotel has had this problem many times before. It seems inexcusable that they would not address this issue, if it keeps happening. Our medicine was locked in the hotel and we couldn’t get to it. So we sat outside the hotel waiting for the issue to be fixed for 2 hours.

The hotel was 10 minutes from the Venezia S. Lucia Main train station and the Freey pier to all major tourist sight seeing points. The room was quiet, cleanliness, eco-friendly. Only the bed was not comfortable. The lady helped us check in was friendly and helpful, we thank you for her service.

Nossa experiência no Antico Portego foi excelente e superou as expectativas. A localização é um dos grandes destaques: o hotel fica muito próximo da Estação Santa Lúcia, o que facilita bastante a chegada e a saída de Veneza, especialmente para quem está viajando de trem com malas.
O quarto é aconchegante, com cama extremamente confortável, proporcionando uma ótima noite de descanso após um dia intenso de passeios pela cidade. O banheiro é moderno, bem equipado e impecavelmente limpo, oferecendo todo o conforto necessário.
As instalações do hotel são muito charmosas, preservando a atmosfera típica de Veneza com um toque acolhedor. A equipe é atenciosa e prestativa, sempre disposta a ajudar com informações e recomendações.
Recomendo fortemente a estadia no Antico Portego a quem busca uma hospedagem bem localizada, confortável e com ótimo custo-benefício em Veneza. Certamente voltaria a me hospedar aqui.

Romantiskt hotell med bra läge och service

Bra läge och enkelt att hitta. Charmig och gammal byggnad med trevliga rum. Servicen var otroligt bra och personalen väldigt vänlig. Vi hade tillgång till ett välfyllt kylskåp på rummet med drycker, öl och till och med en flaska bubbel – allt utan extra kostnad. De lät oss också lämna en kylklamp i deras frys. Vi kan verkligen rekommendera det här stället.

Was just ok, check in instructions were clear but upon arrival the keys were not located in the specified spot; luckily someone on site was able to provide us our keys. Room was good, was listed as a courtyard view but the only window in the room revealed a view of just a wall. Lots of mosquitos in the room. Other than that, the room was clean and there were great beverages made available to us.

The room and inside of the property were beautiful! One note for those booking a stay - there is no front desk! This felt less like a hotel and more like an airbnb. This was an issue for us as we were traveling all day and arrived at the location and could not get inside. We had to stand in the street repeatedly calling to try and get a hold of someone before they would give us the code to let us in. A bit frustrating after a long day of travel, but if you are prepared and speak with them before check-in this shouldn't be a problem. The beautiful room and thoughtful snacks/drinks made up for this, and we very much enjoyed our stay here! :)

The hotel is well equipped and friendly welcoming staff. A pretty atmosphere in a central part of the city of Venice. However if you are sensitive to chemicals and detergents I would not recommend. The smell has unforgiving strong and did not go away even with the windows open. These strong chemicals irradiated my eyes. I could even smell the clean products/detergents on my clothes my days after the stay. I hope the hotel changes to products that are not harsh or that organic that will not linger on the skin.

The property is remotely managed and so there's no 24 desk. You have a contact number and any queries you have are answered quickly. The only difficulty we had was finding the door to the property but a very helpful waiter from one of the restaurants in the area quickly showed us and once we buzzed the door we were let in and the key to our room was exactly where we had been advised. We stayed in conchiglie room and it had the most lovely painting on the ceiling and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries and lovely fluffy towels. Wevhad a fridge with lots of complimentary soft drinks and beer and sparkling wine and plenty of options for tea and coffee.
The entire building is beautifully decorated and it felt really bougie and authentic. The area is vibrant and bustling with loads of restaurants and shops and bars but our toom was really quiet, being tucked away from the street.
We were able to leave our bags safely after checking out to avoid carrying them with us all day. The property is a 15 minute walk from the train station.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property and would love to go back and stay again.
