Pros and cons.

The bed itself, which is the most important thing, was comfortable enough. The reason I rated the place in 'below pleasing' for comfort was that the bathroom and shower are so small you can barely move through it.
Also, for service, THERE IS NO WIFI in your room. There is only wifi in the hotel lobby. That was a nasty surprise at the price the hotel charges. Also, they do not provide toothbrushes.
The place is just over priced for the quality and service that you get.

What I liked about it, it is far enough (maybe 50 meters) off the main road that you can sleep well without being disturbed from the shockingly busy main road at night time. Also, the location is a five minute (if that) walk to the train station. That is about as far as the advantages go, so if that is all you need, and you do not mind paying this price for these few things, while not getting any of the other things, then this place will suffice. (I indeed rebooked my room one extra night when I found out I needed to stay another day in downtown).

Very good location. Everything was as expected, however our toilet did have a small leak. The hotel tried to fix it but it seemed like they didn’t have the correct parts to fix before we left. They were attentive to our needs and did the best they could. I give them credit for that.

Hotel Atlantide needs upgrading.

Room was ok, but did need an updating, bathroom is great, room needs to be painted brighter and carpeting need to be removed, need bed required instead of 2 single beds side by side. needs to be more modernized and be brighter, also need a mini fridge, no place to put beverages.

Do NOT go straight to the property. You must check in at \"Hotel Antica Casa Carettoni\". They expect you to know this, and, if you don't, they are unapologetic and tell you that you have \"old information\". The Hotel Atlantide has very old carpeting on the floor and to half way up the walls; it smells musty. The bed spread was visibly dirty. Thankfully the sheets were clean and the bathroom clean and renovated. For how high the price was, I would try another place next time. The location is wonderful.

No reception, bad service, avoid this hotel

No answer from reception no matter what time of day you call! Stayed at the 4th floor, group of people checked in and they were smoking, me and my husband could smell the smoke seeping through the doors. Horrible stay, we feel very sick since the smoke is too strong coming from the other room and hallway. Reception said they're open 24 hours apparently they're not, we can't even complain since nobody is there to take the calls. Hotel doesn't seem to care about their guests, they just want to do business, that's it. The walls are thin, group of young people keep banging doors from 3rd floor and we could hear them from 4th floor. This hotel is not the place where guests can have good rest after a nice stroll around Venice. We don't recommend this hotel.

Nothing like the pictures, not worth the $$

The staff were rude and not accomodating, wouldn't even let us into the room 30min before the checkin time of 2pm even though we had a tour to get to at 2:30 on the other side of the island, we had been there waiting 4hrs for the \"checkin time\" so would've like to get our bags in the room with a moment to relax first. The stuffy room was hideously old and not even clean - hair on towels, floor hadn't been vacuumed and no hand soap was supplied! Not to mention our room was up 4 flights of stairs with no lift and no offer from the desk guy to help us lug up a very large suitcase each! That was almost impossible for us 2 girls. He didn't even warn us about being on the 4th floor which was rude as he knew we were in a hurry. The \"front desk\" of this \"hotel\" was not 100m away as advertised, more like 500m+

Expensive, simple and cold but good location

This hotel has a great location for the train and bus station. Also very close to the cruise terminal. However it was extremly cold in the rooms as no heating (aircon was not working). We had two rooms on the first floor. The rooms were clean but one of them needs refurbishment. Walls are plain, window opened to a wall, cold and unfriendly. It was way too expensive but we had to book in a short notice. I would NOT stay here again.

Construction noise starting at 8AM.
No sound proof at all. I could hear the conversation from the next door word by word including their accent.
Room was cold. Heater didn't seem to work.
When leaving the luggage at the lobby for travelling before checking in or after checking out, no one checks the identity when picking up the items.

Good things about this hotel are the location and the cleanliness of the bathroom. However, we felt that we were ripped off for the price that we paid. The hotel is old and the comforter and sofa cover seemed dirty. We had some mosquito bites after staying there for 2 nights and suspected there are bed bugs. The check in/out front desk is located at another location, it's not far but inconvenient though. In our opinion, definitely do not pay more than $150 USD per night. Browse different websites before booking.

This was the grosses hotel of my entire trip.

This hotel was not as advertised. It was grungy and looked nothing like the photos. False advertising at its finest.

The towels at this hotel were supposed to be white but were instead a dirty grey colour. When I dried myself off with the \"clean\" towel a glob of long black hair rubbed on to my shoulder. I have blonde hair so there is no way the long black hair was mine. I almost barfed I gagged so hard.

Also, the light fixture was hanging by its wires and since it was glass blown I was afraid if it fell we would be cut badly. The tv and remote didn't work, the phone was broken and since the lobby wasn't downstairs but in another building and around the block it made it difficult to complain about the tv without doing it in person. When I went over to complain in person about the tv and the dirty black hair glob in my towel the front receptionist just shrugged her shoulders and was totally useless.

The worst hotel.....\nStay away from the hotel!!!!

The hotel I booked was very near from the station, that's why I chose it, but when I get there, there's no one at the place. One of the guests showed me to the check-in place, and the reception told me the hotel was full, and gave us a room in the other hotel, which was located in the other side of the river. So we must cross at least 3 bridges including Scalzi Bridge. My daughter and I had 2 big luggage, couldn't cross the bridges with them. I had to pay the porter 35 € for carrying the luggage 2 times. Unbelievable!!!! How worst the hotel is!!! They didn't have any responsibility, and they're very unfriendly.
The hotel room they gave us was on the third floor, and the guy from the reception didn't help up to carry the luggage. The room was very small, the bath room was also small, and there's no soap for washing hands. The towels were dirty. No wifi in the room. Believe me, I've been traveling around the world for years, and this is the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. It was terrible!!!!!!

Went to check in here and they actually had us at hotel
Moderne but it is all the same chain. Room was at the very top of a tiny building -- the only room up there on that floor! It was fine. Definitely old but clean. For the value, we didn't mind the alleyway to get there or the steps to get up. We were disappointed by the sleep quality...the bed was terribly uncomfortable, the pillows were unbelievably worn out and thin, and the pigeons on the roof made noises all night so it sounded like they were right next to you. Probably would stay here again because it was cheap and fine for just a night, but would ask not to be in that top room.

Do Not reserve this Hotel! Horrible experience!

This has been my most horrible experience with hotel room up until now. We were cleary cheated! We booked our reservation through 'reservation website-Orb' for a night, 2 guest; Room description: Standard Room - with attached bathroom which was very important for us.

When we reached Venice, we were supposed to go to a different hotel for check in. see statement below:

The hotel receptionist at Antica CASA told us that the hotel room that we booked is not available so they've upgraded us to a better room. They also told us that this particular room has no bathroom and we have to use a shared bathroom. We got into an argument but really had no choice because we were in Venice for a short time with no time look for a new hotel at that point. The story doesn't end here, we left the luggage there to go around the town and came back in the evening to find out that the room that they gave us was a makeshift store room!!! The picture on the website is a fake one! They gave us bunk beds and told us that this is what they offer as double beds!! The room was 6 feet wide and 20 feet deep. The AC was not functional and I couldn't turn on the fans because my head would literally touch the fans, sleeping on the upper bunk! I am so glad that we made reservations just for that night and we had to leave early in the morning.

We would not recommend this hotel at all! I've a picture of the room but there isn't a place on the website where I can upload that image for you guys to see. I have no clue how can we protect ourselves when we book hotels abroad. This was the most expensive hotel in our trip and the most horrible one in my life. I request our 'reservation website' to take this listing off from their website and save people like me from trusting their listing and reserving a really bad hotel.

Basic hotel in a great location

The room was great value at 50E a night. It had a comfortable double bed and a large sofa, although my friend's room (which was the same price) did not have a sofa and was considerably smaller.

Check-in was just around the corner at the Atlanica Casa. Access to the Atlantide is down a (clean and safe) alley just off the main drag, which is always busy. The hotel is in a great location for those with heavy cases; it's quite close to the station, but a long walk from San Marco and the Rialto Bridge.

The Atlantide is a basic hotel and they did not clean my room throughout the stay (I imagine you could pay extra for this).

The bathroom had a horrible smell; like the dirtiest waters of the canal were coming up through the drain and the toilet. Just keep the shutters and door closed and the internal windows open and it's fine.

All in all it was a value-for-money hotel with efficient staff. Would stay again.

This was a bed, not a hotel

I visit Venice several times a year for meetings and have not yet found a regular place to stay at. Will not go to this one again. When you find the door, it is locked and you are advised to go to a different hotel to get the key. You get your key, sleep the night, and return the key to the other hotel. No breakfast, no staff in sight. The room was very small (as they often are in Venice), so this was actually just a bed rather than a hotel.

Although affordable, the beds are not as comfortable. And its a very small room. The size of a storeroom. The shared shower is clean and good.

We stayed for a day and although it is close to the train station (st. lucia) we would not rate the hotel as comfortable. It was too small and crowded that it would not fit in two people to sit on chairs. It appeared as though the restroom was converted into a hotel room in order to accommodate more guests.

This is located very close to the bus/train station which was nice not to have to lug your baggage all over the city. There is no elevator, but after traveling a bit thats just what to expect in Europe. Its an older place that has not been updated, but that just matched the rest of the city. For a place to sleep and take a shower its not bad, I would stay again.

Great location, although you access the hotel via a narrow alley.

The hotel is clean, the rooms have great bathrooms, my room was on the ground floor so easy to wheel my case around, i could not find a lift so...be warned.

I must mention that the staff are friendly and helpful, and, there is a really nice restaurant in the alley.

It was GREAT for the price. My girlfirend and I stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it.

Pros: Inexpensive, good location (5 min walk from train station, close to shops and good food, not far from anything), decent staff, and safe.

Cons: It was a bit small and the shabby, and the a/c hardly worked.

I would recommend this hotel for a young couple backpacking or the more economical traveler. We didn't spend much time in our rooms and mainly used it to shower and sleep. Which worked well for us.

I thought it was the worst hotel of our stay in italy. The rooms were so small we couldn't open our luggage, our tv were not working, no wifi access, no water pressure, no hot water one morning and you cannot have stable water temperature (sometimes burning water or really cold water). I usually don't put a lot of importance on the room since i usually spend all my time away from it but that one was pretty hard to miss. Bottom line, if I would go back to Venice, I would not stay there again. By the way, bidet for all the rooms? Not for us.

Needs some investment.

This hotel would have been great value 25 years ago when the TV was new. The remote control had to be requested and then it consisted of two controls (TV and satellite) held together, back to back, with elastic bands. No English language channels could be found.
The room we had was pleasant enough, with much required A/C, but the view from our (ground floor) window was that of the breakfast area.
WiFi was available, but at a cost. Free WiFi could be found in a number of the local eateries.
The towels appeared to date from the same era the TV. They were clean but you could see that they were originally white.
The location is quite good, not too far from the train station nor the bus station.
The hotel has potential but is appearing a little shabby, it needs some investment.

Lane (backyard to shops) to hotel smells of pee and lined with yesterday's recycable trash from the shops.

Musty smelling room and dirty looking room carpet and dusty curtains.

Best feature of the room is the Bathroom which looks more modern than the room. Water from shower head has poor pressure.

No internet wifi.

Well, if you are on a budget, it does seem to be one of the cheapest place in stay in a very good location in Venice. You can't have the best of everything! Just enjoy your holiday in one of the most romantic places on earth!

Superb location - a short walk from the train station. Excellent reception when I arrived. Desk clerk spoke fluent English and gave me thorough, quality advice on how to go about touring and dining in Venice. The room was the size of a walk-in closet but clean. For my one-night stay, I was comfortable. No air conditioning but even on the 4th floor it didn't matter. The room had a fan but didn't have a window that could be opened - therefore, a little stuffy. I don't think WiFi was available, although I didn't ask. A simple but satisfying breakfast is served in the morning.

Use as last resort.

Stay for one night, to pick up a cruise, convient to find, as located colse to Pizza Roma and the cruise terminal. i took the room as it was the cheapest advaible, and only needed somewhere for a few hours. Don't expect much, but somewhere to crash. If you need comfort, pick somewhere else. My room was on 5th floor.( no elevators}ke one suitcase up, but no help to come down. I got the impression from staff, that because of demand, I should not complain about anything. good luck

Good Location - No problems

Hotel is in a great location relative to train station since you don't need to take any water taxi or vaporetto, or climb up and down bridges with your luggage. Just a 5 minute walk from station to hotel. It can be a bit confusing to unaccustomed travelers since you need to check into this hotel at a different hotel. Be sure to read the info describing the hotel so you understand this prior to arrival.

Hotel itself is no-frills and a bit outdated. It was clean but was not a place I would want to spend a lot of time. When in Venice though, you probably won't spend much time in your hotel anyways.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Price seemed a little high for what you get, but I think it was fairly standard for Venice.

Value for money. Good location.

Value for money. Good location. The room was clean. Beaware that if you go there before 2pm you can't check in before that. You should wait till they clean your rooms. They claim on their website that guests can check in anytme after 8.00am. This is not true. You can always leave your bags in the reception and go out. Apart from that the hotel was good, nice and clean. Location was really good for us.

Everything was fine - perfect if you want a inexpensive room just to crash in for the night. You get what you pay for, and this was fine for what we needed. It was clean, and in an exciting part of Venice.

Lying management

Hotel Atlantide is a two star hotel, so you know what you are walking into. What I did not expect, however, was the hotel to not honor claims it made on its own website. Part of the reason we booked the hotel was the complimentary trip to Murano Island through the hotel advertised on their website(http://www.atlantidehotel.com/services/). When we checked in we were informed that was a mistake, and the hotel didn't actually offer the trip. When we expressed dissatisfaction The receptionist asked me to speak to his manager the following day to see if something could be arranged. When I spoke to the manager I was given two stories. Initially they told me what they offered was a \"complimentary opportunity\" to pay 20 Euro to go to the Island, but only if you intend to buy something. Then halfway through the conversation, the story changed and I was told that the website I was looking at (which still promotes the trip) was not actually their website despite having their name all over it. The end result is management would not honor their advertisement which soured our time in Venice. We were told that we should pursue the company who developed the website for them if we want to be reimbursed for our trip, which is ridiculous. The total cost for us to get to Murano on our own was 13 Euro, plus 10 Euro to tour a glass blowing factory. A simple reimbursement of such a small amount would have gone a long way to facilitate a better customer experience. In the end, it wasn't the money that was an issue, but the false advertising on their website and managements refusal to acknowledge the error and make amends. Beware what you read about them before booking.

This hotel is very basic. Bedroom was big, but there is no elevator, no air conditioning and the bathroom we had was tiny and the next door neighbour could easily see through the window when ever you were in there.

Great breakfast!
Good location only a short walk from train station, (quiet - no noise of trains at all, and its down a small alley so you don't get much street noise).
Also very close to one of the main Vaporetto stops to get public transport boats up and down the grand canal.
Small room but we knew that when we booked.
Air con worked OK.
Staff seemed slightly jaded but warmed up with some dogged insistence on our part.

very shabby but clean. More suited to back packer market. Breakfast was dreadful. Great location, very close to train station. Not good if you have heavy luggage as no lift. Allowing guests to leave belongings in storage after checkout time is an advantage.

Breakfast room is too small for the number of guests in the hotel. No internet, even at the reception area. Hotel does not provide enough shampoo/soap, only gives 1 small sachet per day. Not enough if you want to wash hair & have a shower, especially for women. Hairdryer is one of those 'vacuum cleaner' look, which gets really hot after a few minutes.

Great for the price

Room was neat size wise but adequate with a comfy bed and an immaculate showerroom/toilet. Overall hotel was very clean. Breakfast was uninspiring but at these prices right in Venice what do you expect. I have stayed in 4 star hotels that were not as clean as this and had less comfortable beds. If I go back to Venice I would definitely stay here again. It represents good value fo money in a fairly expensive city.

Best hotel we stayed in

This is the best hotel we stayed in our whole trip. The location of the hotel was great, room size, service, breakfast! everything! But most of all the price! In Venice it was such a bargain glad we booked it recommend to everyone. Only bad thing about this, and this is being picky, the toilet was an odd shape and uncanningly small.

Friendly staff. Nice, clean and tidy room. A little bit on the small side, bathroom and room itself but didnt expect much as was cheap and we were only staying for a short while. Recommend it for any budget travellers.

Basic but acceptable

Only a 2* hotel but clean and comfortable as a base. Close to the train station and bus terminal, so ideal for both airports. Outlook from the hotel isn't great, and the breakfast is basic, I was disappointed there was no fruit on offer. I would use again if I stayed in Venice.

An excellent value stay. We were moved to another (quieter) hotel owned by the same people a couple of doors down and had breakfast at yet another hotel owned by them. Staff were lovely and friendly even when breakfast got very busy (we had to wait for a table). Location is excellent - near train station, shops and short walk to quiet canals.

The interiors are a bit dull and

The interiors are a bit dull and the rooms are unusually small. The Breakfast room was quite cramped but breakfast was good......I guess it may not be possible to have more spacious rooms for Venice standards.

Still quite a budget Hotel and a decent stay.
