Beautiful stay with a unique and peaceful atmosphere

I absolutely loved the décor — it was perfect. The hotel has a charming retro feel, yet everything is very well maintained and spotless.

The breakfast was simply perfect — wonderful and absolutely delicious. It was definitely one of the highlights of the experience.

The room was comfortable and well organized, and the bed was super comfortable, providing very restful nights.

The shower is inside a bathtub, so if you prefer to take a standing shower, you need to hold the showerhead. The water also didn’t drain very well and tended to accumulate in the tub, as the drain seemed slightly clogged.

The bed linens and towels were excellent quality — very clean and well maintained. The towels were large and very good quality as well.

The staff were extremely helpful and attentive, always willing to assist. The cleanliness of the hallways was impeccable. The hotel itself is truly an attraction — it used to be a monastery, and it has a peaceful, calm atmosphere that makes the stay even more special.

The room temperature was perfect throughout the stay.

Overall, a beautiful and memorable stay in a place full of character and tranquility. 😊

Gorgeous lounge & rooms! Formerly a monastery and it retains sone of the beautiful terrazzo floors & other features. The rooms have a harmonious blend of the feature from the original building with modern showers & tubs. The location next to the train station in superb!!!

I have now stayed twice at the Abbazia. I enjoy it. The location is very convenient. The building has enormous charm with very quirky decor. The rooms are clean. The buffet breakfast is excellent. But, more than anything, the staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Close to the Santa Lucia train station and the Piazzale Roma transit center, it was very convenient for our one night stay before flying home after a long European trip. It was easy to miss because the little street it’s on seemed little more than a narrow alley, but the hotel had a wonderful buffet breakfast and beautiful lounge/bar area. Only drawback was the lack of elevator, either because it wasn’t working or they didn’t have one (I was unclear on which), but the desk clerk carried our heavy bags up the long flight of stairs to the second floor, which we really appreciated since we got in late and were very tired. Older room was a bit small, but very nice and well equipped with a desk and small refrigerator, closet, and usb ports.

When I came in already wasn’t clean like cookies crumbs were on the floors and all dusty lints were everywhere. When I asked for clean room then their staff didn’t clean also just made a bed without changing bed sheet at all and also I asked a towels, they threw them a couple of towels which were looks like used one in the bathroom. I was only looking for 4stars hotels so it came up so I believe it is 4stars however they covered one star on the sign so it was only 3starts but they charged one night was $290 so it’s not worth it at all. There is looks like in the middle of construction so all of electronics wires came out of the wall and about bathroom omg, it’s leaking water out of the shower booth and the shower top doesn’t working as well. The Overall is not worth it at all as this price and the photos are literally scammed at present pictures at all. I’m only surprised there is no bugs even though that much mess up hotel environments. They need to be better if they want to keeping a business for travelers.

A great stay in Venice but the hotel could do with some renovation. Front desk staff was excellent - quick check-in and very helpful. Room was small for three people and the aircon was hard to adjust. We switched it off in the end as we could not lower the temperature. Breakfast has lots of options but thy are not labelled and scrambled eggs were cold on all days we had breakfast there. Less options would do. Overall a good stay.

Hotel was overall nice. Best location that’s a 5 min walk from the station, about 25 min from San Marco. Great options for food and souvenirs around. Room is a bit roomier than the average Italian hotel, which was nice. The breakfast is great, lots of options with a lot of fresh salads, baked goods and warm foods as well. Surprised to see so much variety. Overall would recommend.

Room was spacious, had loads of character and mini bar was very cheap. I would have liked at kettle and coffee for the morning. Staff were very welcoming and we loved the outdoor space and lounge areas. Breakfast offerings were great with lots of variety. I would suggest maybe using the lounge area for breakfast as well when the hotel is busy as it was tight on space with tables too close together. I wanted a long, relaxing breakfast but didn’t feel comfortable sat so close to others.

I had a hard time staying at this hotel. The room was dark, lighting was poor and the dark dark room walls and furniture didn’t help. The almost not existing space between the bed and windows with the large wooden bed base was bad, the glass floor at the shower felt like a hazard and the non existent A/C forced us to open windows and welcome huge mosquitoes. It was disappointing in every way. The breakfast was not delicious and lacked healthy options. The cappuccino tasted salty. The Wi-Fi was terrible!! Location is perfect but there are plenty other options in the area to choose from

The room was extremely small, did not match the pictures. The bed was super uncomfortable. We asked for a better room and they did not comply. We stayed only 1 night and asked to not charge the 2nd night but they did not agree. We had to book another hotel for that 2nd night so this meant more expenses for us. I do not recommend this hotel at all. It was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and this was my dream trip planned since March 2025.

Little to no sound insulation, scaping chairs on the stone floor from guests above us, was annoying.

Was slightly irritated that the hotel organised a disco directly beneath our room, and gave us no warning or recompense for lack of sleep as a result.

Disappointed considering how well the hotel was rated by Hotels.com

Hotel Abbazia is a charming 50 rooms hotel. The entrance is located in a quiet alley. It's righr near the water bus station and Santa Lucia Train Station.
The hotel is nicely converted from a former monastery. It has a spacious, tastefully decorated lounge with a relaxing vibe. The courtyard garden is precious in Venice.
All the front desk people are very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast was sumptuous and delicious. I felt that the cook prepared it with great care. I especially loved various salad varieties!
I and my friends enjoyed our stay in Hotel Abbazia very much. We highly recommend it!

Fabulous experience in this beautifully restored monastery, only an 8 min walk from the bus terminal. It is close to a vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal, but it’s very quiet and off the busy thoroughfare. The staff was supremely friendly and helpful AND they include in the cost of lodging free luggage storage and probably the best breakfast we’ve ever eaten in our extensive travels. Did I mention that the bed was more comfortable than at home? Only regret is that we couldn’t have stay longer.

Perfect little place to stay right off the main area and close to the train and water taxi. Amazing breakfast. All the staff were wonderful! For being in an old building it was perfect. We had a wonderful 2 nights. Wish for more. My sisters birthday was the second day and they surprised her with a cake for breakfast. They were always there to answer questions. Hotel was so near and convenient to the train station. Breakfast best I have ever had. Amazing decor behind interesting doors. Garden was perfect for breakfast.

Front desk staff were excellent as was the breakfast spread - the most varied buffet I’ve seen outside a cruise ship!
The location is ideal for train travellers; no need to worry about crowded ferries when toting bags.
The bath/shower was a bit of a squeeze, but nothing you couldn’t adapt to.
The old monastery building js a delight, as is the garden area.

The shower was in the middle of the hallway. The hot water pipes are right next to where you stand to take a shower. It gets so heated that I almost burn myself while taking a shower. I found garbage under the bed from previous visitors. The walls are covered in carpet which had a lot of dust. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable.

This is an amazing property in Venice. It was our first trip to Venice and we were so glad we stayed in this neighborhood rather than the crowded area near St Mark’s Square. It is an easy walk (about a mile) to the major tourist attractions and the payoff includes less crowds, more local food and peace and quiet! We will definitely stay here again on a return trip!

My teenage son and I stayed at Hotel Abbazia for one night in August 2025. The place has a pleasant courtyard and the breakfast buffet was simply amazing! The staff was welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the convenient location, near the train station and from a walkable distance from the cruise passenger terminal (Terminus Passageri). The transfer from the airport was easy too using Allilaguna.

5 stars for the staff!

Perfect location if you travel by train. Easy to walk to main attractions or to take vaporetto. The staff is EXCEPTIONAL: fantastic welcome, helpful tips and restaurant recommendations. The room was nice and the breakfast was fantastic.
They don’t have an elevator but the staff takes care of taking the suitcases to the room. I would stay there again.
