terrible experience

it was not good coz we were at the attic of d unit above the 4th floor and there was no lift or elevator. we are all seniors and was hard for us to climb the stairs.it was not elaborated at hotels..com that this will be the situation. we had to hire a human porter to bring our luggage to the unit.

I shall be initiating a credit card Charge Back against Expedia. The pictures they showed on the Expedia website were NOT of any room at the property - I can make pictures available to any party on request. To add salt to the wound, when I questioned this with the owner of the property his answer was, and I quote: \"the pictures we show are only 'publicity' pictures - you ordered a room with a twin and a single bed, that's what you are getting! What's the problem?\" - he couldn't understand the fact that I could possibly be upset that the room was NOTHING like the quality of the room in the picture in the advert. This was a classic case of 'FALSE ADVERTISING' and my cancer suffering wife was devastated.

This property is effectively a large 3 bedroom apartment in Venice, it was purchased by the current owner who now rents out the rooms like a 'youth hostel'. The rooms are shockingly poorly maintained and the bathroom has not had a penny spent on it since the previous 'old' owner left!!!!

Please do not use this property - it will be the most disgusting and shocking experience - you will carry a feeling of disgust with you for weeks at the thought that you have been conned.

And yes - I am absolutely a disgruntled client - make no bones about it, the experience has left me VERY BITTER that I was conned into making the booking, and that possibly my wife's last International vacation (she has a terminal illness) was not of the quality that she had requested.

Amazing staff, location, and amenities! Best shower ever!! We loved staying here, close to the train station , so just a small walk, but also in the heart of the city. Close to restaurants, Landry, and ATM. We were delayed on our train and showed up late and the staff was kind enough to accommodate us. Wi-Fi is great as well as the beds, linens, and towels. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone coming to Venice!!

As a group of 4 girls travelling Italy, DO NOT STAY HERE. Not only was the building itself very run down and strange, the door was very hard to shut/lock. The bathroom was shared with multiple other rooms so it was more of a guest house, and not the hotel experience that we expected. It’s shocking that they are charging extortionate prices for facilities well below the standard of any other hostel we have visited.
The kitchen is unusable, old, and falling apart. The mosquitoes are KILLER and we made sure to keep all the windows shut so I don’t know where they were coming from. In fact, there was a dead one on the wall by my head showing the walls hadn’t been cleaned.
While it did fit all four of us in a room pretty comfortably, I felt on edge staying here. The walls were thin and we could hear a couple ‘doing the deed’ next door…
Shame we spent so much of our travel budget on this place. The location is great - near the station and away from the extremely touristy bits of Venice.
We had no trouble checking in at 3:00pm ish, although it was alarming that the receptionist appeared drunk at this hour.
There’s a supermarket and busy bars super close which is convenient, especially since we were trying to spend as much time out of the room as possible.
Would I recommend this place? No. Would I stay again? Absolutely not. But if it is your last option, it can make do for one night, but be prepared for major dissatisfaction.

I love the room I was assigned because it had an excellent view of the church and gardens. I also was in the top floor which help. This property was really cozy and clean, the share bathroom was amazing at all times, nobody was loud or noisy, the room had ac but it make a weird sound so we went with the fan which work super good. I really enjoy the night and the staff. Simple, cozy, and good. Close to the train station and to several canal stations too to take the water bus. It is a bit far from San Marco square like 30min walk but the walk is lovely and you can get lost in the tiny streets of Venice where all the magic happens. I will recommend it for sure if you want something afforable, no luxury but comfy.

My family got check in then when we went out the staff said just enter the number 12 and letter E and we can go instead we tried many times but the door won’t open so we ended up looking for another hotel in the middle of the night the staff doesn’t care about the guests it is a mesh I need a full refund and pay the other hotel that I found in the middle of the night

Negatives: No front desk -- had to arrive before 1 or after 3:30 but before 6 that would have involved an extra 20 euro charge. they were very upfront about this extra charge well in advance.
Housekeeping did not clean room the first night.
WiFi was almost non-existent.

Everything was great with the place. The only issue we had was the airline lost our luggage and there aren't any office hours. It was not very easy to schedule a drop off when we wanted to enjoy the city. It would have been nice if there were more convenient office hours.

The guesthouse is really small and situated in a nice area very close to the train station. Was really easy to reach it. Just make sure you don’t arrive between 1pm-3:30 pm. They are closed, even if you text them you arriving hour. They offer you directions and a map for the city so everything is easy and close to main attractions

Cheap bed -- not much else

Good location less than 5 minutes from the canal. Cheap room, very bare bones with only a bed. The bathroom (1 shower and 1toilet) was shared between 4 rooms (each room has 1 queen and 1 single), luckily we were then only people staying on the floor, else showers would be a pain.

Bathroom cleanliness also is an issue near the end of the day, as the whole floor has been using a single toilet and shower.

Staff was late to the office for our checkout. Was supposed to be there at 8:30. We had to catch a train, so we left at 8:45 with them still being MIA.

WiFi is spotty at best, and all of the locks are very old and sometimes get jammed and need to be forced.

Overall its an okay if you can not find a cheaper place, or if you just need a bed to sleep in

Place was less than a 5 min walk away from Grand Canal. Shared bathroom was spacious. Private bathroom was not an option available. Room was clean. They also come in to clean in the morning. No elevators so you have to carry your luggages up. We got a 3 person bedroom, and the single bed for the third person was not as comfortable. It sinks too low. Towels were provided but they were like table clothes. There was wifi, but only usable in the hallway and not in the room. Overall, it was a decent experience for something low budget. I would recommend this place.

Hotel was as expected; small room, shared bathroom, etc. The house-keeping service was very friendly and helpful, however the hostess (who we also presume to be the manager) was NOT. Unbelievably rude for someone working in a tourist city, in the tourism industry.

Would never stay here again for that reason alone.

Terrible! Terrible! Terrible!

We have stayed in many different hotels in the world, but this one no doubt is the most terrible experience. When we arrived at the door of this hotel at noon, only found it was locked and a note told us there would be nobody in service to let us check in from 12:30 until 3:30. We had to wait with our baggage for more than 2 hours in the street. Ironically, their regulation is if you check in after 7 pm, you will be charged 20 euros! Finally a lady named Susana showed up, she was a very rude woman, didn't know what is polite. The guest rooms are in a different place, there is no elevator so you have to drag your baggage up thorough the narrow stairs. She opened the door of one room and dropped the key, then left without any words. We realized this one hundred euro per night 3 star hotel room has no it's own bathroom but sharing one with 3 other rooms. There is no towel so if you take shower you have to be creative to clean and dry yourself, there is no toilet paper in the bathroom so some customers put whatever paper they could find there. I guess that's the responsibility of Susana to provide the supply, but she never appeared. I will never stay there again and don't recommend it to anyone.

Great location and good value

The residencia is superbly located if you want to be near either the bus services at Piazalle Romania (via 2 bridges) or the train station (via 1 bridge). The reception is a very short walk from the accommodation and is not clearly signed but easy enough to find. Rooms with a shared bathroom are good though you may find using the bathroom requires a wait. Better to pay the extra for an ensuite room. The rooms are clean but quite basic. The breakfast is very basic but knowing that in advance allows you to plan should you want more. Great value for the money as it is well located and relatively inexpensive when you consider Venice prices. We have used the residencia before and have booked to return.

Three nights in Venice

Yes, you have to share a bathroom. Yes, the check-in location is not the same as the actual apartment building. But it's a short walk,1-2 minutes. Location is not \"central\" but still good. It's quietier, calmer with some good shoe stores nearby and a fantastic little (& super affordable!) restaurant across the closest bridge and around the corner. We stayed on the main island and walked everywhere. There's a grocery store close by and the staff were some of the nicest we'd interacted with all throughout our trip in Italy. Other guests seemed to be respectful and kept the bathroom clean. We didn't have to wait long to use it. Be warned: city taxes to be paid in cash upon arrival (same everywhere in Italy) and one flight of stairs to climb for the apartment.

Don't book this place!!

What ever you do, don't book this place. When we check in, there was blood on the sheets and there was a used towel hanging on the wall. I went downstairs to talk to the receptionist about the issue and she was rude. She did not want to deal with me and kicked me out saying that she was busy doing work. She eventually came up. I showed her the stains and the dirty towel then she said something in Italian and stormed off. She did not approach the situation with professionalism. She acted like a child. I have never experienced such rude service in my life. This hotel needs to shut down. Something you should not do/ We originally booked this place for 3 nights but after receiving that treatment we packed out bags and left.

The price tells all

We got the apartment that sleeps 4. What we did not know is that the apartments are no where near the office. I had to drag my luggage from the train station to the office, get my keys, then drag my luggage back in the direction of the train station then walk another 10-15 minutes to this tiny alley that's 4 maybe 3 feet wide. The apartment is 'charming' and there was an attempt to update it with new toilets, etc... There's a kitchen that we didn't use, I doubt you could cook a meal there. On the plus side, it's really near to the ghetto and the S.Marcuola vaporetto stop (water bus line 1, very useful). It's also a short walk to the Guglie stop (lines 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2) which is good for heading out to Murano or if you just wanted to ride around Venice.

Even though we had to share the restroom, it was kept clean and the room was very comfortable with a canal view. Just a few minutes away from a Vaporetto station which can take you everywhere in Venice. Remember to bring your own towels! Would definitely recommend!

Some tricky hours at reception... they are closed from 13:00 - 15:30 so you can't check in or even leave your luggage (unless you get lucky and run into someone). Your room is a short walk from where you check-in, but I didn't find that an inconvenience.

I have never been treated so poorly in my life!

The woman who checked us in was rude, spoke condescendingly, and physically threw my receipt at me. The wifi did not work in our room [free internet was one of the reasons we booked this hotel]. Upon asking the manager about the internet she replied: \"I don't know, it works for me at my desk\". She then pretended she couldn't speak english, walked to the lobby door, and opened the door for us to leave. She refused to speak to us any further. Later that evening we discovered that the internet worked in the \"kitchen\" [quotation marks because it is a room of tables and chairs...and the breakfast: an instant coffee machine]. The next morning we were in the kitchen looking up directions for the day at 10:21 am. A cleaning lady came in and told us that we had to leave because breakfast hours were between 8:00-10:00. We explained that we were in the kitchen because that was the only spot we could connect to the wifi. We were told that was because our room was too far away from the router and there was nothing that could be done about it. Again magically the hotel worker suddenly forgot english and switched to Italian only. Lucky for her we were able to also switch to Italian and wish her a nice day. The \"breakfast\" was instant coffee and prepackaged croissants with a shelf life of 3 years [yikes]. Our towels were translucent curtain like fabric. And the staff decided that the best time to clean the shared bathroom was at 8:30am when 7 people between 3 rooms were trying to shower.

Everything great except reception...

We had read all of the (negative) reviews of this hotel prior to our arrival, so we knew what to expect - especially with the front desk. Reception was painful- very slow and rude. The one lady that took us to our room was nice though. The cleaning staff were also pleasant. The room itself was just fine. It was all we needed for a night's stay. Loved having a sink/mirror in the room as the main bathroom is shared with 3 other rooms. The bed was comfy and there were no signs of bed bugs. Lots of treats were left on the desk in a basket for us for the morning along with juice boxes. There is a fridge in the shared kitchen which came in handy. Patience is needed with the wifi (better wifi access outside the hotel as opposed to inside the room), and the towels they supply are basically table cloth linen as everyone has mentioned, but they did the trick! Everything was great. The pizza place across from the hotel has the best pizza so definitely recommend giving them a try! It's cheap too!
Check-out involved a different lady- also rude... But that's what's expected when staying at Residenza Ca'Dario!

This hotel is much more like a guesthouse than a hotel. The rooms are spacious and have a sink, but the bathroom is down the hall way and shared with the other guests.

Lovely place to stay and comfy but make sure you not expecting a hotel and more of a guesthouse

Good budget hotel

The hotel is a good way to experience Venice on a budget, however if this will be your only time in Venice and you can spend a bit more for a better accomodation, I think you should look for a better location. We traveled here with a 3.5 year old son and with another couple (5 people total) and we really enjoyed Venice, but we had to walk a lot specially at night and can imagine that staying in a better location would be nice if going there just for the city's romance...

Good location but more like a hostel than a hotel

Shared bathroom- appeared to be sharing the bathroom with 5 other bedrooms in the building, but this didn't turn out to be too much of an issue, we just had to wait for people to shower before we could go in to use the toilet and vice versa
Free coffee machine available in the hallway between 8-10am which was a nice extra to have
Reception was located about 200m away from the building we stayed in and they were very helpful- gave us a map of Venice and let us leave our baggage with them after check out until 5pm which meant we could do more sight seeing before our flight that evening
Bedrooms were extremely small but this wasn't too much of an issue for us as we spent most of our time exploring venice
Rooms had air conditioning which was nice too

The room was very small but clean had a lovely garden view from the very large window. Air conditioning was excellent. Location ideal for being away from the crowds but surrounded by restaurants and bars free WIFI. Towels were like bed sheets, breakfast was really non existent, The bathroom is shared and consists of a shower and toilet. This proved a bit of a problem as you had to wait for people to finish showering to visit the toilet. Shower and toilet separate would improve the facilities 100 fold. For the price of this double room I doubt you would find anywhere better in Venice and as a traveler who spends most of his time out of the hotel (in Venice why would you stay in the room?) I would totally recommend it and would certainly stay there again. It is just a shame there isn't another toilet.

This accommodation was definitely a disappointment. The price and location were good, but the on-line photos and descriptions were deceiving. The breakfast consisted of coffee from a vending type machine, in a plastic drinking cup no less, and packaged juice and packaged. pastries. There were 4-5 bedrooms sharing one toilet and one shower. I would definitely look for other options.

I am so glad our stay was for 1 night. It was not a great experience. There are some things the owner/manager couldn't really do much about - the size of the room, noise, ect. But when you pay 100 euros a night you expect more than a stale croissant for breakfast. Found this hotel poor value for money, miserable staff, tiny noisy room,rock hard small bed, a lot of waiting around to check in / out, and as mentioned, breakfast was a stale croissant. We have stayed in Venice several times but this is the only hotel I have given a poor review.

We stayed in the multi-bed room, which I think they refer to as an apartment. Please be aware that the apartment is a 15 minute walk from the office where the other units are located. (We were not aware of this when we arrive, with two kids in tow). Anyway, speaking only about the \"apartment\", it's a perfectly adequate place for the money. This is not a new or modern room. You're staying down a small alley, just like many of the local's homes. Lot's of local flavor, I guess you could say. It's kind of cool, in that respect.

They altered the price after I got there despite having a reserved price from hotels.com. Calling this place a hostel would be flattering. The service was horrible with rude and inappropriately dressed staff. The room was pathetically small and unclean and the beds were uncomfortable. Unless you are a 17 year old on a back-packing trip, I would not recommend staying here. That said, if you are on a back-packing trip, you likely couldn't afford to stay here given the price they charge for this dump.

First, don't be fooled. The pictures on Hotels.com and the hotels website are NOT what you will get at this hotel. The lady at the hotel check-in was extremely rude. She acted as if we were bothering her and that is was a hassle to check us in. RUDE!!! The room was filthy when she escorted us to our room. It had not been cleaned since the last guests. We had to leave and wait for it to be cleaned. Upon returning at 9pm at night...trash had been picked up, but no towels, dirty sheets, etc. The worst part...no one to contact to get help. The front desk closes at 6pm. We were also promised a private bathroom, but instead the bathroom was shared by 4 rooms. Look elsewhere...stay only as a last resort. The only good thing is that the hotel was located near the train and bus station.

let's say that room was OK, i expected something worth, but the breakfast was really bad and the internet was even worth.
breakfast was the plastic glass with cheap juice, piece of bread and ...(bad, bad, bad). the story of internet was funny: it was important for me to find a hotel with internet, but when i arrive to hotel, it doesn't have, so we had to sitt in street to use other hotel internet. and when i told them about internet, just they said that they can't do anything.

WILL NOT come back

The location was not in short distance as mentioned. We came to the location and it was an office, then we we had to walk 20 minutes to the apartment (not hotel) with our big luggages (2 bridges with no elevator) through the bridges.
Very tiring.....
The staff is not always in the office, when we had to check out the next day at 10 am, no one was there and we had to wait for 20-25 minute outside.
It is ok for a single traveler with only backpack, but not family with children.

It was clean and comfortable but not good value. The location wasnt good and the breakfast was poor: You could find somewhere nicer for the same money

Watch your step

Staff was flexible. Towels were very thin- if they were any thinner they would be called napkins. Shared bathroom is very inconvenient as there were a lot of people banging on the door in the morning. Beautiful location, very close to main canal.

Sehr nah am Bahnhof gelegen. Ansonsten wirklich allerhöchstens zum Schlafen geeignet und selbst das hat schon keinen Spaß gemacht. Die Unterkunft hatte deutlich mehr Hostel-Charackter als alles andere und Preis/Leistung stimmt hier einfach nicht.

Alojamiento original, y muy cerca de la estación del tren, fueron 4 pisos mas la escalera del tapanco, no conveniente si vienen personas mayores o si traen mucho equipaje, cortan el agua por las noches asi que debes anticipar tus idas al baños o la ducha

Para el precio que vale no merece nada la pena. Da miedo. Ducha sucia con pelos. No hay calefactor tuve que ponerme 20 mantas encima porque hacia un frio de muerte. Mucho escandalo con los huespedes. La entrada a las habitaciones parece una pelicula de terror. Necesita una buena reforma y sobre todo mostrar en fotos el hotel actualmente y que podamos ver la realidad.

The place is not a hotel nor a hostel. Just a creepy apartment. The owner is impolite even rude. The photos are false. They give a pillow with a dead mosquitos on it. Disgusting place. We couldn’t stay there, couldn’t get our money back. Hotels.com should be careful because these kind of people make you seem worse!!!
Never ever! I’ll also write an official complaint to the EU and Italy tourism authorities!!!

Okay, men ikke fantastisk

Alt i alt var det en okay oplevelse. Dog er hotelværelset ikke som på billedet. Servicen var til gengæld god, vi kunne tjekke ind efter den tid der var angivet på hjemmesiden, og vi fik hjælp til at printe billetter til vores videre færd med tog.

Camera molto essenziale, forse ancge spartana. Pulita però e luminosa (cosa rara a Venezia). Infatti aveva la finestra su un giardino verde interno. Perciò era silenziosa e luminosa.

Corte Canal Venice to po prostu mieszkanie składające się z 4 pokoi, 2 lub 3-osobowych i 1 łazienki i kuchni. Jedna łazienka na tyle osób jest problematyczna co najmniej. Kuchnia jest w stanie okropnym, bardziej wygląda jak pomieszczenie gospodarcze.
Położenie mieszkania jest natomiast bardzo dobre.

Minha estadia foi ótima, esse hotel fica perto da estação de trem, o que super ajuda caminhar com malas, pois andar por Veneza com mala não é muito fácil. Como fica bem perto foi mais fácil, mesmo as malas sendo pesadas. Veneza tem muita escada , então quanto mais perto da estação de trem você ficar é melhor. Não tem elevador, mas em Veneza acredito difícil prédios terem elevador. Sobre o banheiro ser compartilhado, foi de boa. Pois, não tivemos congestionamento para usar e também o andar não tinha muito hospede. o quarto que pegamos são super espaçoso e super limpo. Não tivemos problemas nenhum.

Peor servicio del mundo...

Cuando llegue al hotel la señora de recepcion (de forma muy abusiva e irrespetuosa) me dijo que el hotel me cancelo la reserva y que si queria quedarme tenia que pagar mas... eso no es correcto y nunca antes me habia pasado. Tuve que ir a la esquina para pedir internet en un restaurante para ver que habia pasado y a pesar que mi reserva estaba confirmada en hotels.com ellos la cancelaron igual. Nunca se queden en este hotel, no vale la pena.

Klein aber fein mit echtem venezianischem Charme

Das Appartement war besser als erwartet, alles sauber, das geteilte Bad war stets sauber und man musste kaum warten. Die Lage war zwar nicht in direkter Nähe zu den gängigen Sehenswürdigkeiten, jedoch war das viertel kaum von Touristen überlaufen und man konnte das echte, ursprüngliche Venedig genießen.
Supermarkt direkt nebenan!
Fußweg zu Markusplatz grob 30 Minuten.
