Unfortunately can't recommend this hotel. Elevator was out for around 2 days electricity kept going out (desk said in was Venice wide but others had power looking out the window. Cold showers for 2 days (they blamed the power), horrible beds (two singles, worst of my life and I've stayed in communist Cuba). Staff just blew paid lip service to the concerns.

Room was clean and everything worked. The location close o the Santa Lucia train station is convenient for walking around Venice. Our “matrimonial” bed was actually two singles pushed together, leaving a hard ridge in the center.

I had a great experience at the hotel.

However, I had a rude, uncomfortable experience with one of the staff when checking out. He was short with glasses and a buzz cut. The man was extremely rude and making weird comments about my lack of speaking Spanish because of my last name. He only apologized once he could tell how uncomfortable the comment made me and told my boyfriend that “he’s allowed to joke around with the guests”.

We booked the property thru Expedia for our vacation well in advance. We requested a king bed they say they don't guarantee king bed agreed. When we walked in it was a ridiculous shocker; a double queen bed was put together the beds were pushed apart and pillows were stuffed in between two twin beds. Then they put a king size mattress pad on top and covered with a fitted sheet(ya they faked a king bed). We rolled out of bed a few times in the night. As the bed was hanging out that part was not usable, and the middle part was too squishy with pillows underneath to sleep on, hence we were left with only about half of a twin bed area to sleep on. The management or expedia did nothing inspite of sharing the issue and showing pictures and videos. The staff took no responsibility for this. It was not all; there was a huge air cooling system sitting on the floor with a large pipe running out the window hence we were not able to close the curtains and it was right next to the bed so getting in and out of bed was a challenge and stressfull on the back. This was a horrible experience & waste of money. Expedia is sure loosing standards.

I don't like leaving a negative review but felt this needed to be said. This was our groups' last stop after touring Greece, Croatia, and Slovenia, and we were excited to experience Venice for our last two days abroad. The hotel is located a couple streets off the Grand Canal, and looked quaint and welcoming. It's a small hotel, with one small elevator that doesn't even service the third floor!? Most of us were on the 1st floor, so we used the stairs. The stairwell was dingy with worn indoor outdoor carpet, the rooms were spacious but dated, and the shower inside the tub was extremely difficult to maneuver around in. But the biggest disappointment was the attitude of the desk staff. There was only one person there at the time we arrived, which wasn't the problem. It was the rude and condescending way we were talked to when we asked any questions at all. There was an advertisement at the desk for a boat tour, and when we asked the cost, the gentleman told us we needed to book it through the hotel and the price would be $37 per person, then stated we each had to pay an upfront fee of $11 IN CASH at the time we booked. We asked about paying with a card because we didn't all have cash, and he told us cash only and 'just go to the ATM'. We left to explore and actually walked by a boat tour company and stopped to inquire... those tickets were $25 and it was a fabulous 4 hour tour we thoroughly enjoyed! On a nicer note, the hotel breakfast was excellent, and serving staff was too.

Had a great time here!! The staff were incredibly friendly, especially the daytime staff. This was a great hotel for the price. Better than expected by far. I didn’t understand how great a location it was until I was trying to carry my luggage through cobbled the streets of Venice. It is about a six minute walk from the train station.

Fantastic spot tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of the main areas but not far from any site you might wanna visit. Venice is very walkable and is a lovely old city.

The hotel was clean well maintained. The staff was informative and efficient at job their job jobs. The breakfast buffet was wonderful; the coffee was delicious! We had a room with a doors that open above the front of the building onto a little courtyard. It was very relaxing. Will be back to visit.

As a first time visit to Venice, we didn’t know what to expect. The hotel staff were most accommodating and very helpful. The breakfast buffet had an amazing selection. I was a little concerned that the bed wouldn’t be comfortable and large enough for 2 adults, but it was more than adequate. Our room was exceptionally clean, bright, and nice and quiet. A must try is the roof top patio! Would definitely recommend the Capri!

Wonderful hotel near the bus drop off area. We didn’t have to travel far with our suitcases. Check in was super easy, the front desk personnel were all very friendly. Obviously the hotel itself will be older but it was very charming. It was about 10 min walk to the tourist part of the city but still so worth the stay.

I tried to cancel my reservation, made with Hotels.com, as my work appointment was cancelled.
Hotels.com correctly replied that they would ask the hotel if it was possible not to apply the penalty, equal to the cost of the reservation.
The hotel refused and, even after a phone call, they were of no help.
I lost my money and the hotel cannot claim that it was for Hotels.com responsibility.
I will have to return to Venice, mainly for work, but I will certainly avoid this hotel.
Zero unfortunately is not possible...

Great location for train

Nice hotel on small private piazza only a 20 minute walk from the train station. You have to cross the bridge over Grand Canal so if you have heavy luggage find a porter. Bargain for a rate to just cross canal. It is all stairs. Hotel arranged for a porter from hotel to station. Good service. Good morning breakfast also. Worth the 10 euro.

We had a lovely stay. The room was quite nice, if a little down at the heels. Small, but all hotel rooms in Venice are small. Space is at a premium! Very comfortable though, and quiet! A/C excellent. The bathroom was very good. We really appreciated the staff. Everybody was great, friendly and very helpful to Americans who do not speak a word of Italian! Also, the breakfast was excellent. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.

I was there end of May 2024. Most other staffs are nice. However, one of the front staff tried to argue with me. The second day, I didn't realized that the front desk staff was changed. I already talked with previous staff about my train time (8am) and right time to check-out to get out from there. Because of I need to take time to packing my stuffs I was considered about time is good to leave there. I told previous staff that I will check- out earlier than regular check-out time. so when I got back to hotel at night, I just continue mentioned \"earlier check-out\" with laughing after say how are you. The elevator has been arrived but I could not get in. Because of the staff keep hold me to make sure what time I will check out with little forced voice. I said I'm not sure what time exactly I will leave but my train time is 8am. He suddenly looks got annoyed at me and said \"oh that is not early. ok thank you\" with pouting lips and face. I missed the elevator and confused what did I do wrong. I asked him why he ask me what time I leave and why I need to care. He said if I leave really early then he can put concierge earlier but my train is not early anyway. I was surprised that why I need to be aware of there next customer service preparing and why he yelling at me because of that. I was still customer and going to be there one more night. He was so rude and kept repeat \"whatever\" and next day when I check-out, he didn't apologe or thank you after I paid and leave there.

The room and lobby were very dated and the staff were not very welcoming. The listing stated that breakfast was included, but upon checking was told it was an extra $30pp. The bathroom had mold and there were quite a few mosquitos in the room that consistently made sleeping impossible with he buzzing in our ears and my daughter got bitten on her face, shoulder and arm.

Older hotel that has retained it charm.

Yes it's an older hotel, but then all the hotels in Venice are older. Easy to get to from the train station. About a 5 minute walk, but on a bridge over the grand canal. Google will direct you through a muggers alley to arrive at the hotel but it's good with no issues. Room was nice with good beds and we had a balcony. Fridge in the room but no kettle. Bathroom was nice with a big tub shower combo. The water temps was not as hot as I like, but it was comfortable to shower. Barely. Daily room cleaning was a plus. Breakfast is 10 euros and was worth it with hot dishes along with meats, cheese breads and fruits. The service by the staff was outstanding. Friendly with tips about what to see in the beautiful city of Venice. And you can purchase water bus tickets at the desk. Area was very walkable with many restaurants a short walk away A very good value for the money and we would stay again.

First, we booked at the Carlton Capri, but after finding the hotel, there was a Large sign saying “Closed for Renovations”, go the Carlton Grand on the Canal. So we walked over there and the front desk said our reservation had been moved to that hotel. We were never notified of this. At first I thought, great, this seems like a free upgrade, but that was not the case. The main reason for the horrible rating is Bed Bugs! My partner woke up with terrible bites, and looking at the sheets, clear signs of bed bugs. We just started a week long trip through Italy, so this has really disrupted the trip. After going to new hotel, we’ve spent hours going through our luggage, and at laundromats cleaning clothes but are still concerned the bed bugs may be hiding in our bags. I searched and found some older reviews of the Carlton Grand that also claimed bed bugs, so I’d never stay there again. If you do, I’d encourage a thorough mattress search before going to bed.

This is the second time we stay at this Hotel. The first time was back in 2013 and we liked it so much we took a chance to stay there again almost 10 years later. This is a small quiet Hotel very well located close to St. Lucia Train Station and Plaza de Roma for good transportation options. you do not need water taxis to get to this hotel. The buffet breakfast is convenient, and the Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. All and all and taking everything in consideration I continue thinking this Hotel offers so many convenient conditions when staying at Venice that I would not risk trying to be somewhere else if I go to Venice again

Carlton Capri is the more modest extension of their Grand Hotel a short walk away. The rail road station is very close. The rooms are very dated for the price point of this property. The front desk is very helpful and open 24 hours which is not always common at this price point.

The room was nice and clean, but was small. I'm average size and the shower was very tight; I felt like slightly bigger people would have a problem taking a shower there...
The staff at hotel was amazing! They were very friendly and took a good time to explain us about Venice and gave us some very nice tips! So ask them whatever you want and they will help you with a big smile!
The breakfast was nice and had a decent variety of breads, fruits, cereal, yogurt, etc...
The hotel is very close to the main train station (S. Lucia). However, if you try using google maps to get you there, it will give you directions to wrong place (although it places the pin at the right place in the map!!). So look at the map and figure out how to get there walking - it's actually easy to find but you can't take the actual directions from google maps in this case - this is not an issue with the hotel.
The hotel is not very close to the main attractions in Venice (like St Mark's Square), but to me it was better to be closer to the train station so we didn't have to carry our luggage all around Venice to get to hotel...
Also, this hotel is \"related\" to the big \"Carlton on the Grand Canal\" hotel, so you can make reservation for dinner at their rooftop, which has a very nice view.
Overall, I would stay there again when I go back to Venice!

Very convenient. Walkable from the train station (Santa Lucia), but be weary of taking your luggage across the bridge steps. Getting there is a bit tricky as the hotel sits in a small alley off the main walkway with no sign. You have to just follow the alley next to the Carlton on the Grand Canal.

They moved us from this hotel to the carlton grand canal which was supposedly an upgrade but not too far away. The room was really dingy and dirty. I asked to change the room which they did and we were moved to a better room.

Lovely hotel with brilliant staff, breakfast was very good, lots of choice. Perfect location, close to where the bus dropped us off so didn’t have to walk far with our luggage.
