We were unable to stay - violence broke out on Feb 22, the day we were to leave! Hotel was wonderful in helping with a refund even though the time to cancel was past. Overall our stay was good. December is a very busy time due to the Christmas holiday so getting in and out of the hotel area was bad. We had to walk a good ten minutes out the area to catch an uber due to the crowds shopping. But as far as theme property goes. It’s an older hotel. Basic. Beds were a bit hard, but manageable. I recommend this hotel if you are in a budget and don’t intend to spend time there siring TJ day.

The hotel is nothing like the rooftop picture , The hotel itself is in the middle of a one way street where there are hundreds of vendors on the streets. Cars motorcycles , pedestrians all on the street just trying to walk by. Hundreds of people crammed together just trying to scoot by. The hotel is so hidden I couldn’t find it for almost 15 minutes after being dropped off. It’s so small & no Ac anywhere.

It was a nice hotel, I felt very safe as I am a female traveling alone. The area was very busy during the day but quiet at night. Lots of policemen/women at all times. I am giving 5 stars because the property staff were very kind and helpful there was a Lady at the front desk her name was Laura she helped me a lot God bless her !! And about the hotel NO AC I had to open the windows and use the fan even though I felt like a melted cheese ahaha but is a quiet place after 7:pm which is good and easy to take walks BTW you can take a walk to El Zocalo and enjoy the food and some shopping in there. Is just about 10 minutes walking from Hotel Templo Mayor.

Excellent location, walkable area, very close to El Zócalo. It's a commercial area, the hotel is surrounded by a variety of local businesses and commercial premises. The entrance is a little hidden, it was a little hard to find at the beginning but the staff of the hotel is very friendly and we had no problem with the check in.

The area around the Hotel can be a bit seedy and very loud during the day. It is not too convenient to many CDMX attractions but is 4 blocks from the Zocalo and 2 blocks from the ruins of temple mayor. There no \"upscale\" restaurants near the hotel. The facility itself was very clean but bareboned, no phone in the room, no shower mat. I would return iff my regular hotel was unavailable. Staff was competent but not friendly.

2 bad water pipes. When other rooms open their faucet all the other room shake. I think its old building that they are not allowed to renovate.
3. Noisy neighbors. Becuse the wall are so thin and they put beds on the same wall of two different rooms.
I wasnt lucky with my room and although i was so tired i have to struggle with noises to fall sleep.

I would not recommend this stay unless you really need a cheap place to stay. There is so much noise all night. I would get woken up by the streets being pressure washed at 3 am or someone screaming in the street. The beds are super hard the uncomfortable. The only good thing was there was a variety of places to eat close by.

Hotel Templo Mayor is a cute little place to stay when in in Mexico City it was easy to walk around and very very close to all the good food and zocalo y all of historic center. All I would add is that there is no AC but luckily at night it cools off. Staff was extremely friendly and sweet. Rooms were nicely cleaned and overall very quiet and cute hotel. Keep it going, I recommend it!

I’m rating my stay as excellent because here you get exactly what you pay for. Clean and safe. Staff are very friendly. There is a market right outside the hotel, with lots of crowds and music however me nor my partner never felt unsafe in the area. Also, our room faced the market and the windows are completely sound proof when closed so noise was never an issue. If you’re looking for a place in the historic district for a good price, this is a good choice.

I didn’t end up staying here. Locals use this location for hourly uses is what this hotel is used for. It’s very obvious what was going. I Decide to not check in. My Uber driver warned us we were in a very dangerous area. Didn’t recommend we stay. The moment we pulled up he told us the situation regarding the hotel. Not safe for children. The area was very scary and sketchy. Someone approached our car tried to open it as we parked ready to get out and see the hotel. I can’t believe Expedia has this hotel as an option. No parking available.

We like that our room had 1 queen bed and 1 bunk bed and 2 full bathrooms, building has elevator a nice view from the terrace. The only thing is that we felt a little bit hot in the room, it has a plug in fan but make noise so we opened the windows and my family got insects bites we didn’t see any mosquitoes so we don’t know what kind of bugs were inside of the room.
Other than that we liked the place, is very close to the Zocalo & Catedral only 3 blocks, restaurants, shops are close too.

Lobby, common areas, and rooms are clean and well maintained. Rooms meet basic needs: clean bedding and bath towels clean and in good condition. Reminder: No hand towel, facecloth, bathmat, facial tissue or coffee maker. Only one outlet in room. The hotel is on a street closed to cars. Although I felt safe during the day, I did not so much after day time. Some locals advised me not to walk the neighborhood east of the hotel at night. I still recommend the hotel if you want to be in the Zona Historica.

This is an average hotel with a friendly staff. The area is fine to walk thru and to during the day but at night felt shady. I still did it and encountered no problems. Lots of shopping and places to eat on your walk to the Zocalo. Sometimes the location of a place and it being kept so clean just makes everything that's not perfect forgivable. Such is the case for Hotel Templo Mayor. I would stay there again.

Bright colorful and comfortable. I loved the bathrooms! Water conservation faucets in sinks were fine. The plumbing pipes were not vented well and left an order that was controlled by keeping the door closed and the window open. No central air. There is no restaurant or food in the building. The hotel is located only three blocks from a very bad neighborhood but we felt safe. Is only two or three blocks to the central Cathedral and Aztec ruins. Beautifully decorated.

Great Zocolo Hotel near Templo Mayor Ruins
Stayed here for a 15 hour layover from San Francisco to Madrid. Hotel is centrally located in the Zocolo so we were able to walk to many of the historical sights. The terrace was a great place to rewind and enjoy a beer.

This place is in a great location! And they were so kind and let us check in a little early. The room itself is small and the mattress a bit on the stiff side, however, I was only here a night and it was perfect. It’s super cute, and great for people traveling on a budget or even students.

The property is not appealing from the outside. From the inside, it appeared clean. The elevator is very small. The location of the front door (main entrance) is hard to get to, specially when the streets are closed off. The open area on the roof is very small. Beware of the pictures on the website, they can be deceiving. The price is not worth the location. Shop around and do some research before booking.

Beautiful hotel pre colonial feeling(staff is super friendly and always willing to help with anything). The rooms are a little confined, limited air flow and can get warm at times. Excellent location always surrounded by a never ending very affordable shopping experience. Zocalo, Cathedral, Templo Mayor and CdMx turibus just 5-10 minute walk. Only con is the sewage smell finding it's way from time into the rooms through the sink.
