I don’t like the breakfast, they say the breakfast instead in the pay of the room and we have to pay for two years old because they don’t include. the room phone doesn’t work, the dryer doesn’t work neither.
I like they clean and organize very well.

Ask for a room on the 6th floor with a balcony you won’t regret it. Room 603 is where we stayed and we had a blast on the balcony. Everyone was friendly and it was very safe.

In late January the room was freezing with no heating. Breakfast is included in the price, however the restaurant is open to the street via a connected coffee place, so the cold wind was howling through the restaurant. The first room we got allocated wasn’t cleaned properly. We found long female hair on the floor. The next room had a craft person working in the bath room. The 3rd room was facing Ave 5 de Mayo. Loud club music and traffic noise was painful through the single pane windows. Will not return.

The hotel is tired, walls and curtains had stains. No heating in the room and in early February it was colder than comfortable. The room was facing Calle 5 de Mayo, with loud music till 2am on the week end, and vehicle noise through the single pane window. The restaurant on the ground floor had the cafeteria window open to the street with the cold wind howling trough. One good thing was the vicinity of Zocalo.

The hotel staff was friendly. The room was clean and tidy, but had limited amenities. The area surrounding the hotel was noisy and dirty with a lot of people, so we didn’t feel the safest going out after dark. However, if you’re looking for a stay in the historic city center, you’re within walking distance of many top attractions, which might be perfect for your travels. Overall, we would recommend this hotel.

El cuarto en muy Chico y le falta mucho mantedimiento, el bano super sucio. Les pedi la recepcion, que me cambiaran de cuarto, les dije los motivos, y me cobraron dinero extra, para cabiarme. El segundo cuarto al cual me movieron estaba un poco mas grande, pero el bano muy sucio, el lavavo quebrado, la tina de la banera segun era blanca pero en realidad estaba negra de sucia y con mojo.
No me vuelvo a ospedar en ese hotel, y no lo recomiendo.
Lo que pague no los vale.

Great location at a reasonable price

For many years, I brought student groups to this hotel. I had not been here for 17 years. Several upgrades have been made, including Internet in the rooms (though it is a bit slow) and air conditioning. There are also in-room safes now.This staff continues to be friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant downstairs, which makes me to order breakfasts. The location can’t be beat!

I had stayed here with groups of students many times in the past, but I had not been here recently. The hotel has made several improvements in the time that I have been gone. They now have air conditioning units in the rooms and there is Wi-Fi (though it can be a bit slow). The employees continue to be, as in the past, very friendly and helpful. The mattresses have also been improved and are extremely comfortable.

This was a great property to explore the historical district of Mexico City. Claudia at the front desk was an absolute gem as was the cleaning staff, sorry I didn’t get her name. The restaurant attached was fantastic and couldn’t have been more helpful. My one warning, if you are a lite sleeper the street noise can be a bit over the top. It did get “ quiet” by 11 and was back at it by 600. I would return.

Being right in the Historic Center makes this hotel a very good option. Easy to walk everywhere, staff are nice and overall good value for the price. The reason I gave overall 4 stars was because they have no airport shuttle, which was important to me on this trip. I specifically looked for shuttle services hotels when doing my search on Expedia and this came up as an option was in reality, they do not offer it. Aside from that, I have no complaints

Hotel must have been quite nice and fancy a long time ago. In bad need of upkeep. Old room but bed was comfortable. I appreciated having purified water and ice stations on every floor so that you can refill bottles every morning before going out for the day. Breakfast was OK. I like the location. It is very close to the zocalo and Palacio de Bellas Artes. A little noisy early in the evening because of the traffic. Room was too close to the street. Also, Hotel Gillow needs to upgrade rooms so visitors can connect USB cables and more power outlets.

We were given the room at the front of the hotel, 3 floors up, which was noisy due to road traffic. We needed earplugs to sleep. No air conditioning, and no amenities such as coffee machine or kettle. Overall, an acceptable pied du terre.

The Hotel Gillow is an attractive older building just 2 blocks from the Zocalo, an area generally full of tourists, and, on the weekend, locals. Its central location makes it ideal. Rooms are arranged around an interior courtyard of six floors, it’s gracious and really nice. My room was very clean and spacious, and I had clean towels and hot water (but no refrigerator). My bed was very comfortable (I like a firm mattress). Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included, freshly cooked, and it is great. The only problem, and it’s not something the hotel can really do much about, is constant noise from outside, it is relentless. I live in New York City, where we have noise, I am not being fussy. The rumble of truck engines, and all-day whistling by police at intersections, is inescapable even with windows tightly closed. It’s a building from a different era, and thoughtless noise pollution has grown around it. If you need quiet to sleep, or perhaps even to think clearly, this will be a problem for you, it was for me.

Excellent location for visiting the historic centre and short walk to Museo de Belles Artes. As it’s very central it can be a bit noisy on a weekend night but ear plugs take care of this. The hotel inside is a little dated but has character. It was clean and safe.
