The staff was great, the room was small, but clean. My only real gripe would be that there is NO A/C! It is June and the city gets very warm in these months, naturally the room gets VERY hot, so you have to ask the front desk for a fan, and at night you can hear other people’s “extracurricular nocturnal activities”, so that’s that.

I stayed at the Hotel El Salvador Maris over the 2023 Thanksgiving weekend and was extremely pleased with the hotel's staff, public areas, breakfast buffet restaurant, and its close proximity to all of the historic "Centro" tourist sites. Its location is halfway between all the zocalo sights and the museums, markets, shopping, and restaurants in the area of the Torre Latinoamericana (Mexico City's smaller version of the Empire State Building). The staff is friendly, and the complimentary breakfast buffet in the hotel's restaurant was superb. My room on the street side had big windows (and even a small private balcony with its own door from the room out to it), good light, a new mattress, quality linens on the bed, and was very clean. Price-wise, it is an incredible value. The only thing to note is that the hotel fronts on a street specializing in electronic gear and audio equipment. As a result, one can hear neighboring shops projecting music from about noon to dusk, but then all the sounds abruptly end at the close of the work-day. I actually began to miss the background music after the evening descended back into regular quiet boring streets. I will stay there again when I am next visiting Mexico City. It is an incredible bargain, a safe middle-class "family" hotel, without feeling overly "touristy." I felt no concern for any safety issues when walking in the proximity of the hotel at any time of the day or night.

A basic hotel that is well worth the value. The location is nearby the Historic Center. Walk right out the door to many places including the subway and bus to other neighborhoods. It is located in an area that is busy during the day but shuts down at night. It was quiet at night. I walked home late several timea and felt safe. The room was clean, the showerswere always hot. This was my 2nd time staying at the hotel, first had been a solo trip and this was with my fiance, and i wouldn't book it again.
There wasn't anything outright terrible about the place but here are the issues we had: wifi was basically useless, no real ability to adjust the temperature in your own room (small screened window that could be opened), bed is small for 2 ppl and we're 99% positive that house keeping dropped a bottle of pulque in our bathroom causing it to explode all over our toiletries and the bathroom in general and left the mess.
The only thing that we enjoyed about the place was the location. Its in the historical district and walking distance to many attractions.
The price is cheap but i feel like we could have spent the same and gotten a better overall room.

I have been to this hotel several times. It is walking distance the several attractions and is also very close to the subway. The staff are nice and were happy to hold my luggage for a few hours past checkout time. There is a cozy little restaurant attached to the hotel. Wifi is mostly good. Hair conditioner is not provided.

Everything was amazing, except the pillows. It was clean, roomy, service was great and check in was quick and easy. Didn't really see the local area as it was after dark. We took a cab straight there and felt safe. We had to leave early morning but we did notice it is located in a small side street. The only negative was the pillows. They seemed like they were made out of pieces of very firm foam and therefore lumpy lumpy lumpy. But you cannot smooth out the lumps. I don't even know how you get such a terrible pillow. Seems like you would have to work hard to get it that bad. I would definitely stay here again, I would just use a small blanket or towel as a pillow or bring my own.

My room was good, restroom good, bed was very hard like sleeping on plywood. Otherwise ok. Taxi had to drop me off 1/2 a block away with my luggage because the taxis are not allowed down that street. Bus zone only. At checkout had to walk 1/2 block down the road to wait for an Uber with my luggage very dangerous. Not fun at all.

Very nice hotel with great customer service. We stayed one night and returned two days later for three more nights. They stored out luggage free of charge for those two days. Upon our return, we found one more bag with clothing left behind in the room. The beds could be more comfortable but they are OK. Location is great, close to public transportation and the historic centre, but avoid walking the neighbourhood late at night.
