You get what you pay for!

It’s a budget hotel, simply furnished, adequate. Ours was a spacious room with comfortable beds and clean linen. The rooms are arranged in a square so rooms overlook each other. So with the heavy curtains open there’s no privacy; with them closed, you need the light on. There’s tracking for sheer curtains - I guess they were taken down and not replaced. The other problem is that the front line staff have no interpersonal skills; there are no warm smiles or friendly words of welcome. Breakfast’s ok but the staff don’t anticipate the need to restock fruit, coffee, bread (to name those I had problems with!) - they wait til they run out and guests have to ask for more! Anyway, I repeat, it’s a budget hotel. We visit MXC twice a year. There are far better central hotels at much the same price We won’t be coming back here although I’d like to - just to see if anything has changed as a result of this review!

The hotel was nice and clean, some things to consider would be the fact that although the room is spacious, the restroom is really tiny, the beds are old and creak a lot, there's a window, but it leads to a view of the building, and the shower is walled off only by opaque glass but in full view of the whole room.

Aside from the room, the lobby feels nice and welcoming, the breakfast has limited options but they're tasy and constantly being refilled. There's also a 24 h. tea and coffee station that's a nice plus on the side of the ammenites; speaking of ammenities, they claim to have a gym but it's lacking in space and equipment which makes it barely functional.

All things considered, the room and ammenities are nice(minus the gym), but you'd have to put some thought into who you're staying with if you plan to share a room and might find the bathroom situation uncomfortable.

Some effort would take this from so-so to so good!

This property could use some TLC to get from meh to good. The plug by the bed was non-functional (and somewhat dangerous), the toilet struggled to flush (if it did at all), and hot water was not always available. The beds were comfortable enough, albeit a bit small. The room could have used a min-fridge, and maid service was inconsistent.

This is an excellent place for first-time visitors to stay in Mexico City. You're within walking distance of Alameda Park, Zocalo, Temple Mayor, and all the shopping you could want, and you are a short car ride away from places like Tenotihucan and the Basilica. I couldn't be happier with my stay!

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The gym equipment was broken. The terrace had everything folded up and put away. The breakfast was okay except the coffee was really weak and the “beans” are liquid. There’s no mini fridge in the room.

On the other hand, the staff were welcoming and friendly. The location is great for walking to restaurants and shopping and tourist sites.

Antes de reservar llame para asegurarme que las habitaciones tenían aire acondicionado lo cual la empleada del hotel confirmó , llegue y solo unas de las habitaciones tenían aire acondicionado ovio reclame y men cambiaron de habitación en la cual tampoco servía el aire a si que pase muy mala noche sin poder dormir ya que hacía demasiada calor en la habitación , al otro día volví a reclamar me cambiaron otra vez de habitación al fin servía el aire acondicionado, salí a conocer por el área ya que hay muchas atracciones cerca ya cuando regreso el hotel me dicen que te go que pagar por el estacionamiento lo cual me pareció ridículo ya que me carro estaba estacionado en la carretera no en el estacionamiento del hotel y que por eso yo tuviera que pagar cuando la descripción de su página dice que incluye estacionamiento eso me parece ridículo a si que para ser mi primera vez en la Ciudad de México fue. Muy mala experiencia ..

The front desk can smile and be courteous. There is a noise during night, coming seemingly from the air conditioner units. That was annoying I was needing to sleep.

I think there is more variability among hotels of the City Express chain than I was aware. My experience in the past is of a somewhat upscale hotel. The City Express Alameda reminds me of something in mid renovation. Our room seemed freshly decorated but only half way. For instance, there were two bath towels and a mat, but no hand towels or wash cloths. Also, there were no towel racks or drying bars so our towels remained damp the rest of the day. There were small bits of finishing trim missing around the new, and pretty, vinyl flooring. On our first day out the maid service missed flushing the toilet.
The staff throughout the hotel were welcoming and friendly. We paid for the breakfast buffet which was edible but limited for the price.

Great location, within walking distance. Checked in at 8pm and took front desk very long time to complete checkout; when asked why they responded “please just give us time” meanwhile guest came down that they just checked in & their room hadn’t been cleaned from prior guests stay. We left & went to dinner since the checkin was taking way too long after long travel day. 3 mornings breakfast & food good & hours were convenient; staff attentive. but exactly same each of our 3-days- recommend switching up options for guests with longer visits Our room had no separate room for shower; silhouette from person in the shower is visible by everyone in room. AC worked great. View out window is to windows of other rooms. Loud alarms two nights; staff said it was target smoke alarms. Beds low & springy but comfortable. If looking for low price, centrally located no privacy, no luxury safe hotel, this good place.Not for the delicate.

We had a bad experience. Put room shower didn't work properly . The plumbing was not working properly. The water overfilled the tub shower. It took the property about an hour to tp switch us room. When they finally switched us they accidentally gave us a room that already had guess. Which acared us amd the guess that were in the room.. we ended us canclin the days at this hotel and went elsewhere

The hotel in general was clean, but the people in the dining room were a little rude, the breakfast was limited and the employees were starting to seem like the food was their own, the first day there was no butter, they made eggs with ham and I didn't eat pork, I asked and what the kitchen manager, Mrs. Mary, responded was; That's what you get. There were no options for people who don't eat meat. The bathroom flooded the first day, the air did not cool, the horrible towels were super worn, frayed. There were 3 of us, we lasted 6 days and they didn't give us extra soap, we had to go out and buy a normal one, we had to keep asking for everything. I definitely wouldn't stay at that hotel ever again.

The good: Great location, staff is very polite and nice though most don’t speak English. Room size is decent and a bit smaller (compared to US). Basic breakfast is included (cereal, bread, eggs, yogurt, bananas). Room is cleaned and made everyday. Locker in the room was very helpful and a nice touch!

The bad: The shower in our room was badly designed where water goes away from drain and stayed on the floor all day once the shower was used!! Really, how bad any construction team would be to not know the basics to slope the floor towards the drain???? Also no tap to run water in shower - it is just a shower head in there. And there are no rods or hooks to hang towels in the shower and in rooms. These do not cost anywhere crazy, but do add nice convenience touches.

What can be better: Bed and pillows could be better, especially pillows.

Overall: A decent and clean motel by Marriott brand. Don't compare it with Fairfield or Residence Inn or regular Marriott’s. If they care of “the bad” listed above, I would stay again.

not worth the stay -- pay more & stay elsewhere

very disappointing...better to just pay more & stay else where. we expected this to be similar to a Holiday Inn but it was below that standard. when we first arrived to check-in they asked us to wait because the only room available did not have a working AC; so of we waited. they also charged us extra for a 3rd person even though the room was a double for 4 people. this fee was never disclosed at booking -- strike 1. when we returned a few hours later, the room they gave us had a broken AC. so either they gave us the same room that they already knew had the broken AC or more than 1 room had a broken AC -- strike 2. we of course asked them to change our room and the only other available room was one that was missing the shower door. so our choice was deal with a broken AC or missing shower door -- strike 3. the other cons were the weak wifi, which kicked us off on the 2nd day. we called the front desk & they were super unhelpful. i finally went down to the lobby & got lucky & found another staffer to help me with the wifi. also even though we clearly paid extra for 3 adults they only gave us 2 towels & no hand towel. we asked the front 3 different times for towels & toilet paper before they sent it to us. also at check in they give you 2 free waters in the room...again why isnt there 3 since i'm paying extra for a third person?? when i asked for more water on the 3rd day they said no that's only per stay not per day. the only pro was the location but still not worth the stay.

The hotel cancelled my reservation even though I called to say I would be arriving at 6 am the day after booking with Hotels.com.

Reception did not mention that it was their policy to cancel even after making it a point to confirm my stay..

Housekeeping asked why we needed more than two towels and a hand towel for three people for a three night stay.

We waited over an hour to have someone replace the batteries in the tv control, the original batteries did not work.

Hot water takes a good 10-15 plus minutes to come out in the ahower. A sign would help...

If you need to get rid of trash in the bathroom you need to either walk to front of the room to a second can or wait if someone else is using WC.

The room was very dark and small. Lights are very dim.
I used flash light to be able to see my clothes in my suitcase.

Make sure to carry your own laundry bag , there are none.

They advertise free water bottles but they had a twelve pesos sign on each for the small ones..

Now for the good part, breakfast was generous and delicious. Javier and Francisca were most attentive but the burners were very low and I had to ask him to warm up the food, he was very nice to do so.

They have an Awesone espresso machine but it is very slow so at times the line was four and five deep.

I'll swing by to say Hello to Javier but I won't stay there again.

I wish them Best. I hope they improve.

They have a good staff in the kitchen and cleaning crew but not at reception.

Overall it is a nice place. But the principle of 2 things bothered me. The first day 2 small water bottles were provided for 4 paying guests, and was told that water would not be provided anymore in any of our 9 night stay even though their web page reads water bottle as an amenity.
The second item that bothered me is that I was informed my room stained 2 towels and it would be 20 dollars. I immediately paid and asked to see the towels. Hours later they gave me a med and a large size towel with holes. They were white but had holes. We brought them to the deskclerk with a current towel from our room and the desk clerk could not tell the difference of the stained towel or the clean one from our room until we pointed out the holes.

Excellent weekend with the family!

Pleasant stay with the family , the help desk very helpful , they helped us with the bookings for the different tours that we took , we had a problem with the AC the first night and the manager helped us relocate to another spacious room, overall excellent!
With stay there again on our next trip to CDMX. Thank you
