Great location, close to everything, pool was good, albeit it was low season but having 4 of them meant you probably always get a lounge no matter what time of year it is! Spa in the room is a great touch, although loud, it was comfortable. Room wasn’t spotless on arrival, bathroom had a slight odour but that is expected with all the humidity and a fan that could use a proper clean up! Bed was comfortable, air con was great, fridge was very cold, froze a few beers so had to be adjusted, water pressure was great. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

There were some minor maintenance issues, which were remedied immediately. The staff were friendly and the location is perfect, as shopping, dining, coffee spots are literally around the corner!

This is our second time in a swim out room and we love it. The pool access is a bonus, proximity to town, the marina and the beach is also a plus for us. Easy to walk everywhere means we didn’t need a car for the time we were there.

We have stayed here twice now and both times excellent. Wedding Anniversary this time and they upgraded our room along with a bottle of wine which was very much appreciated. Everything is easily in walking distance, large pools, quiet and safe and very friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

Stay at Matra Aqueous was excellent. It is in a great location, close to beach and main township area of Port Douglas. The pools are great, though would be nice if one was heated.
Only disappointment was that only two coffee pods are provided per stay, and when I asked for more the charge was $12!

Great place to stay!

It was a lovely and clean place to stay! Definitely would stay here again. The room size was a bit small so we struggled without a lot of storage space for cases but the parking was good and under cover. The products they gave you were great quality and we really enjoyed to spa bath on the balcony.

This was our first time to Port Douglas and we absolutely loved our visit. However, the accommodation was disappointing. Our room smelt very strongly of damp, which I assume is from people coming into the room wet making the carpet wet. Also, the condition of the room wasn’t what we would normally expect from a hotel. For example, the carpet in one of the corners was ripped up and there were quite a lot of large scrapes and marks on the walls. Note as well that you have to take your own rubbish out to the bins and your towels do not get changed if you are staying for a few days. We were unsure if this was typical of hotels in Port Douglas or not, but we haven’t experienced that at a hotel before. Apart from that, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Port Douglas is a wonderful place! The hotel was very well located near to shops and restaurants, but it was very quiet at night time. We used the hotel parking which was very easy to use. We would definitely visit Port Douglas again, but we would not stay at this hotel!

Relaxation Plus!

Our spa room on the second floor overlooked one of the four swimming pools. Although the room itself was compact with little space for luggage, the large balcony with outdoor spa, table and chairs provided a sense of space. The large bathroom provided a walk-in shower, toilet and wide wash basin and cabinet. The kitchenette was equipped with a microwave, expresso machine, toaster and kettle plus glassware, china and cutlery for 2 people. The room was easily accessible by lift from the basement carpark. The location of the hotel is within easy walking of the beach, shops and restaurants.

Was disappointed to find the rooms are not serviced daily. We stayed 3 nights. The check in flyer advised they provided free tea, coffee and bathroom supplies. However on the 3rd and final night we asked for another coffee and were told no. We have to buy a packet of 10. We were provided 2 coffees for 3 nights stay. The receptionist was unnecessarily rude about it. Spa baths are good. Nice pool area. Lots of rules to read, seems like they get alot of party groups.

Nice loaction but hotel has seen better days

The hotel is perfectly located but spend a bit extra to stay somewhere more modern and looked after. Bathroom was full of black mould and the ceiling fan barely moved. Rooms are not serviced and only two coffee pods were provided for a 4 night stay. When I asked for more at reception the advised we had to pay for them. Pool is run down and one of the filter covers broke as I walked over it. Pool is not heated and too cold in the winter months; nobody was using it. There was a spa on the balcony but all balconies need to be clear by 10pm. This place would have been nice in the early 00's but there are so many better places to stay in Port Douglas for a bit more than the $350 we paid here.

The pubic hairs in the bathroom were disgusting. The stains all over the tiny little bedspread were appalling. The lounge was terribly uncomfortable. The spa had not been cleaned.

Second trip here, we absolutely love Mantra Aqueous. It’s the perfect place to stay in Port Douglas- so close to the Main Street so everything is a few minutes walk away but you can also relax in the unit in the spa on your deck or one of the many pools

Swim up on all ground floor rooms was great as well as spas on verandah, rooms for linger stays were well appointed with everything you need for cooking. WiFi was free but not secure. You also had to pay extra to get room cleaned ie linen change, clean towels were available. The pool areas do act as a bit of a sound bowl so if kids are in the pool it can get quite noisy. Staff were excellent, polite and helpfull. Being just back from main street very handy to pubs restaurants and shopping. There is a great cheap local shuttle service around Port Douglas making places easy to get to. Overall a nice place to stay.

Had a great holiday staying at the Mantra Aqueous. The apartment was very spacious with great facilities. Our room had the pool accessible from our balcony. Made my morning swim very easy. Also found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Considering another stay next year.

Swim out room was amazing!

We stayed in a one bedroom unit, which had an adjoining lounge room. The sofa bed was made up for our daughter. Everything was spotlessly clean and the apartment was very well equipped. The swim out room was beyond amazing and the pool was particularly clean. Our daughter spent hours swimming, whilst we were able to watch from the private pool side area. The private spa on our patio was also a hit! The property was very well located, being walking distance from shops and restaurants in Port Douglas.

We stayed at Mantra Aqueous for our honeymoon in Port Douglas and it was a lovely stay. The property is clean and well looked after however it is very dated and old. I found that Port Douglas itself is quite dated. The hotel does not offer free room service (but at a cost of $18 per day) and they do not refresh your towels, linen or replenish your shampoos, body wash etc. Staff are really friendly and lovely and it was an overall nice stay.
