Stayed for 3 nights in one of their larger rooms that was really nice with a King size bed and plenty of space to move around. The room, the bed , the bathroom was immaculately clean. The location is in the heart of the old town. Everything checked out for us and would highly recommend.

My room was TOO LITTLE. Couldnt even open my luggage n the floor. Unfortunately, i had a room in second floor netx to the elevator and across the street from the bus stop. It was really noisy. Would not recommend if you want to rest or work. On the other hand, location was excellent

An older hotel, which I like. Rooms are small, common in older hotels. Beds are very comfortable, hot water is available at all times. Rooms in the back look into a private courtyard with a fountain, which helps one fall asleep. Very clean and well-maintained property with extremely helpful and friendly staff. The hotel is situated near the port, an abundance of restaurants, and cafes.

Nice hotel in a good location

Check in was great, room was ready early and the lovely receptionist allowed me to check in which was much needed after a long flight. Extremely friendly staff who gave advice when I needed it.
Good location near the food market and centre.
Room was smallish and slightly dates but perfect for the couple of nights I was there. Bathroom very clean with amenities provided.
Breakfast was mainly cereal, bread, cakes and fruit but easy to fill yourself up for the day with all on offer and lovely strong coffee.

My husband's birthday was noted from his passport, and the kitchen staff (notably Amparo) surprised us at breakfast with an Uruguayan delicacy bearing a candle! \"Happy Birthday\" played. We feared the pedestrian street below our windows would be noisy, but only one night was loud. The sunlight in the room was amazing. We walked to everything: museums, galleries, monuments. Very centric! Many good restaurants nearby, and a supermarket across the street. No beach, but we're from Puerto Rico and we didn't come to swim in April.

The room was not that spacious. The overall experience was good. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly.
Missing suggesting tour's flyers and printed suggestions brochures for one day excursions as well, should be inside the hotel. I had to find out myself about where to go, thing that I did by myself.

Well located in the old town. Although an old building, it is suitably upgraded within. Friendly staff. A little difficult to navigate to it's off-site parking site (use your Google Maps). The breakfast is very light, but there are great restaurants and grocery stores within easy walking distance.

Very nice older hotel which is pretty good value. Lots of restaurants in this historic area. The only concern is the level of noise at night - I would request a room that doesn't border the main street as \"bums\" frequent the street and yell all night long. The staff at this hotel are excellent - the room was small but very clean and the breakfast not worthwhile.

Little gem in a crowded urban area. Secure scan entrance. Once inside, quiet, nice, clean and modern. All staff I dealt with were pleasant and upbeat. Room was clean and modern. Only thing to consider is that the bathroom is small and tight space. I’m 5’7”, so if you’re a bigger person, you might struggle with the space. Otherwise, great 3 night stay for me.

This is likely / literally my fault, but I didn't think to check that the hotel / reception would be open 24 hrs. When I showed up to the hotel at 2:30 AM from the airport after 2 terrible days of sleeping in airports, the hotel was closed. Luckily, the streets were clean, the homeless friendly, and there was a bench to sleep outside on the street around the corner.

Verify the hours that reception is open! Maybe it's the bad American in me, but I just assumed hotels were open 24 hrs per day.

This hotel is across the street from Mercado del Puerto where there is dining, and shopping options. Hotel has a great location in the old town city center. A very walkable area with a supermarket and pharmacy around the corner. Also within walking distance to Las Ramblas. Just across the street from hotel there is a bus stop where you can take multiple buses which take you all around the city. Hotel personnel were very nice and helpful.. Oscar at the front desk was extremely nice and very helpful.. he would guide us on what bus to take to reach different areas of the city. Hotel is remodeled and very clean. Also a big plus is bathroom has standup shower which is very easy to get in and out of. Thank You for a great 11 day stay.

It’s in la cuidad vieja very close to the port where many cruise ships dock and many tourists in the area restaurants and bars very friendly people. Around the corner of the hotel is a very popular pedestrian walk way with shops and bars even at night its safe in this area police station on back corner street with many officers walking around. Hotel is simple with a/c and very friendly staff.

The location is great if you're getting off, or going to the ferry - it's an easy walk and straightforward. The staff were kind and helpful, and the men at the front desk all spoke English. The surrounding area is a bit sketchy - towards the dock is vibrant and interesting, but further away it becomes quite scary and not a place to go at night. The rooms are small and a bit dated, but comfortable and quiet. It's a great place to spend a night before heading off on an Uruguay adventure.

A nice and reasonably priced hotel near the Peatonal Sarandi and Pérez Castellano walking streets in the portlands mercado area. Rooms are clean and comfortable, air conditioning and wifi are excellent, very eco-friendly. Staff are professional, friendly and everyone at the desk speaks decent English if your Spanish language skills are as weak as mine. Very happy with my stay there.

Great hotel, very clean and comfortable.
Reception staff were all very professional, friendly and helpful.
The room was well appointed and clean, the bed was super comfortable.
Only slightly negative point was the breakfast, however it was very cheap and worth the money, I would have preferred to pay more and have a better choice including hot food and egg dishes.
I loved the location, I was visiting shops in the port which is only a 5 minute walk from tbe hotel. Great for public transport, cafes, bars restaurants and supermarkets.
Highly reccommended.

Location is great, right next to the harbor plaza, close to ferry and right next to pedestrian street that takes you down to most of the sights.
However- it was loud from the street so If you’re a light sleeper this is not for you. Also there were issues with cleanliness, stains on decoration pillows that I don’t want to think about and hair in the shower. Also- ***NO GYM!! *** It’s states in two places on Expedia that this hotel has a gym and there are pictures of a gym but there is none!

I’m between 3 and 4 because the second night they never made the room, so me husband and I found our room just as we left it. It was really disappointing, since we were tired after a whole day of walking. They never said anything about it. Other than the poor service, the location is good, just be aware that since it is in the downtown you may not have many options of places to eat/ drinks at night walking distance from the hotel during weekends.

Property was reasonably clean and not as expensive as other hotels in Montevideo. Did not like the neighborhood. The safe, lamp and mini fridge were not working upon arrival. The first two items were fixed. We didn’t realize the mini fridge didn’t work so did not inform management. The AC was overhead and blasted cold air on you. If you shut it off room was hot and humid. Room was tiny and humid. And air vent in bathroom was very dirty. Breakfast was ok, staff was great, and common areas were very nice cool and cosy.

Perfect for a one night in Montevideo. Very close to the centre and the rambla. A bit far from the bus terminal. Taxi will cost 200/250 pesos one way to get there.

Nice hotel, comfy rooms, decent breakfast, helpful staff. Located in a tourist area close to the port which can take you to Argentina easily. Good marketplace for food and crafts. Bus stop a short walk. Easy to walk around the area to see sights, monuments and museums.

The hotel is perfectly located near the pedestrian street walkways with wonderful restaurants and shopping nearby; its also very close to the port if you are traveling by ferry. The staff was very kind and welcoming; we got there very early in the morning so the room was not ready yet but the man working the front desk offered to take our bags and gave us a map with plenty of recommendations of where to eat and visit. The room is smaller but very comfortable and we had no issues with it being too noisy. I would definitely stay here again.

Hotels.com and Puerto Mercado a functioning scam!

The Hotel scammed Hotels.com and Hotels.com passed the scam on to me. My reservation confirmation specifically said I was purchasing a Room with a view and a double bed. What I received was a room on the first floor with zero view, a single bed that was about 25 inches wide squeezed into a room that was about 50 inches wide.

Really good place, very clean and pretty new. Staff was awesome. The only things to have in mind is that night the place where the hotel is located isn't the safest so just try not to walk around at night. Overall is worth it I would come back.

Nice and modern hotel in the old town

This hotel is very new and modern, in very good quality and very clean. It is located right in the old town, one block away from the Puerto Mercado, and directly next to a wonderful pedestrian street.
Breakfast was good and plentiful, and the staff was very helpful.
We stayed on the street side on the top floor, which gave us a wonderful view of all the people (and tourists) walking below. It does mean you get some street noise, but that died down enough at night so it didn't bother our sleep.
I saw some reviews questioning safety in the neighbourhood. I understand the concerns, since there seem to be some homeless people and stray dogs around, but we never felt unsafe. Uruguayans are very friendly, even the people hanging out on the streets.

The hotel was in good condition. The air conditioning did not seem to work well, fortunately it was not too hot outside. As soon as the sun goes down foot traffic in the area disappears and a lot of the restaurants near the hotel close very early.

A nice hotel near Puerto Mercado

This hotel is located in the historic town area of Montevideo. This area is largely deserted as many of the storefronts have been deserted and not re-occupied. This hotel is about a block from the Puerto Mercado shopping/eating area and the Buquebus dock so very handy for this. I did a tour and found that there are some lovely areas away from here that perhaps would have been nicer to stay in, but wouldn't have been as close to the Promenade, or historic squares. The hotel is nice despite the area. The staff keep the door locked and lets customers in as they arrive to ensure there are no people in the hotel that shouldn't be. Some of the staff speak English which was helpful for me. The breakfast consists of lots of breads, some eggs, cheese and ham, as well as yogurt, tea/coffee and cereal.

It's a decent hotel with the good fortune of being 2 blocks away from the famous market. It's about a 10-block walk to Plaza Independencia. The room was basic but has what you expect. The only bummer is the \"window\" in our room didn't open to the outside...instead it opened to the hallway! So we couldn't tell what the weather was without stepping out. Other than that, it was \"ok\" - not great, but acceptable. The breakfast is free but again, not great. Now that we're more familiar with the city we would probably stay at a different place next time.

The Puerto Mercado Hotel in Montevideo is a fully renovated hotel conveniently located near the Market area in the old town. Also this hotel is an easy walk to the seaside and to walk through the old town and sights. Excellent buffet breakfast, large renovated sleeping room with fully modern style bathroom. The hotel staff were excellent, friendly helpful at check-in, check-out and answering questions about directions and other questions.
Excellent value room and I highly recommend this hotel for its location, modern amenities and renovated stylish rooms, and overall hotel.

Convenient and CLEAN.

The check went smooth. The breakfast buffet well presented and tasty. The staff were wonderful from the morning team until the evening team. The area in the evening may not look safe to walk but it is SAFE. You are walking distance from the main area.
