Well, I arrived late and the one who received me was a little angry, and the hotel only in my opinion would need a little more maintenance work, but anyway I put 5 stars because the experience was not so bad and breakfast is so good.

Great staff and nicely sized rooms. The breakfast was tasty and fresh, though more variety would be appreciated (especially for gluten-free or dairy-free folks). The rooftop has a great view. Excellent location. Rooms were surprisingly quiet.

We had the two-room family suite, which was a bit weird because it’s really two separate rooms with a small foyer between them. The hotel hall door to the foyer doesn’t lock, so we had to completely close each room at night — not a problem for us but if you had smaller kids it might be challenging.

Overall would recommend.

I had a disappointing stay at Vivaldi. My room was very noisy, and despite several complaints nothing was done about it.
The hotel rooms seem very worn, and not like the hotel pictures. There was scrapes and scuffs on the walls.
Despite having a booking for 10 days, my room was only cleaned twice.

The best part of this hotel is its location. It's in a very nice part of the city, with a walkable distance from a large mall. You won't get an ocean view but you're about 4 blocks from it.

The hotel offers a nice buffet for breakfast, nothing fancy but good. The staff is very friendly.

The beds are extremely narrow, though, two people do not fit together. They are really nice, but you feel like you might fall if you move too much. The hotel is in need of some minor rennovations, like walls that need painting or a smoother elevator.

Overall, we were happy with our stay.

Overall OK. We had an issue with the AC unit, it was functioning but very noisy, so we couldn't use it at night. Still, although we informed the reception three times about the problem nothing changed, nor were we informed of any attempts to resolve the issue. Still, a pleasant hotel at a quiet, rather remote from the centre, area of the city

Que tienen algún tipo de problema con la cloaca en la entrada y el ura Caños de baño en toda la recepción y el restaurant
Por lo que recomiendo no ir al restaurant (sumado a que nos dieron un plato con pollo que estaba crudo, que si bien no nos lo cobraron, no era el espíritu, era gratis, era el espíritu era comer correcto?)
Pero sin recomendar el restaurant, el hotel es muy bueno

The hotel is very well located and looks fairly new.
Upon check-in, they told us breakfast wasn't included. I had to show them my Expedia reservation, which stated it was included.
The room was decent and clean.
The view wasn't very nice, but they might have better ones.
Forget about watching TV, the cable or satellite service is terrible.
Breakfast was okay.

Hotel is in a great location but my room was dark, the view was three walls of nearby buildings which restricted any sunlight. I could not see what the weather was like without going to the lobby. Breakfast had limited options, never any bacon or sausage but good selection of fruit and cheeses. Bed was very comfortable.

Unfortunatley this hotel has gone down in quality in the last few years. We have stayed here many times but this time we were very disappointed in the staff and room. We were put in a room where the bathroom lights were burnt out. We were told that the maintenance person had left for the day and our options were to move our things to a new room (and go down to the desk for the new keys) or wait for the repairman. We opted to move to a new room. I had asked that the staff confirm that the room was ready for occupancy. All was fine until the following morning when we were in a hurry and there were no bath towels. We called the front desk and were told that there were no housekeeping staff to bring us towels and to come down stairs to get them.

This hotel was comfortable, had a great breakfast, and most of the staff were wonderful. Our main complaint was that the climate control is the same for every room as they either run AC for the entire hotel or heat. You cannot control your own temperature, so even in winter we woke up hot on our first night. The front desk lady gave us an attitude and said to open a window, which wasn't an option because they street below was noisy all hours of the night. She also got onto us for taking our towels to the beach even though we brought them back clean. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay here. Restaurants are within walking distance and parking was free along the street.

If it is within your budget, do not miss it!

It is well located to go exploring the streets of montevideo looking for a turist stop, shopping or restaurants.
The Hotel is super quiet, clean, organized, the room was very confortable with good working air conditioning to muffle the noises from the street below. All super clean and neat. Breakfast was really good, with good coffee and a large assortment of breads, croissants, fruit, granola, eggs, ham, cheese and baked goods made in the premises that were excellent. I did not find it expensive, at eighty some dollars a night for two with a good breakfast.

Quiet location, practical, good value!

There aren't a ton of choices in Montevideo but this worked out just fine. Not luxurious but clean, safe neighborhood, and had everything you need. Breakfast was included and was decent. Rooftop area had great views, good to watch the sunset. Area was safe to walk around and still able to walk to Cuidad Viejo. The hotel is nothing special but has everything you need at a good price.

Apartment with 2 bedrooms, very reasonable price

This was actually two separate rooms with interconnecting doors, which worked well for us. Both rooms slept 2 (either a queen bed or two singles - we asked for singles in both rooms and were accommodated accordingly) and each room had its own bathroom and kitchenette with small fridge, sink, electric kettle and crockery and cutlery provided. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the buffet breakfast which was included in our booking had a variety of foods, including scrambled eggs, breads, pastries and cakes, cereals, fresh fruit , juice and coffee and tea. There is a small shop over the road which sells most of what you may need during your stay, or there is a large Devoto supermarket within walking distance. Punta Carretas Shopping Centre is less than 10 minutes walk, likewise La Rambla. It's a very convenient place to stay with plenty of restaurants around, and an ATM just up the road. There are markets in the park around the block behind the hotel as well, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. There were always Ubers available in the area if you wanted to travel further afield. Reception staff were helpful and spoke English, and housekeeping staff were always friendly.

1. Asked for towels to go to the pool. It took 40 minutes.
2. They forgot to replace towels 2 out of 4 days. Every time I had to call to remind them.
3. The cleaning standards were very low. I left a soap which was glued to the corner of the bathtub in purpose, it was still there the last day (I took quick showers as I was not too convinced to take a bath)
4. They did not change the sheets and floor under the bed was not hoovered.
5. The few kitchen utensils I used were not cleaned either.
6. The gym has two machines. Sad.
7. Location is excellent but the hotel deteriorated tremendously from my previous stays.

I gave this Hotel 3 overall because of the slow WIFI speed, even loading a map or pdf become hassle if not imposssble. I had to buy sim date card during stay there (Speed clocked at less than 0.12 mbps at the time and on average no more than 0.5). Other wise it’s great location and nice room.

The receptionists were very nice. I was told about construction works on both sides of the hotel the minute after checking in.
The rattling started between 7 and 7:30 every morning, until 4:30/5:00 pm EVERY day. No need for a wake up call.
The room decor was nice and the beds comfy.
The breakfast was not impressive either. Dry pastries, not much fruit.

Hotel Vivaldi Uruguay

Horrible experience

It was an absolutely horrible experience. From the construction sites on either side of the hotel and being woken up at 7am on the dot, to getting stuck in the elevator for 45 mins to the shower head being broken and water spraying everywhere to the stench of sewerage through the rooms.

My partner and I have to pay for uber rides to take us to different family members houses so we can stay and rest there instead. We paid for a room we can't even utilise properly.

I have epilepsy and need my rest. If I have a seizure in Uruguay, what is going to happen to me? The hotel certainly doesn't seem to care. When we got stuck in the elevator with another couple yesterday, I suffer from claustrophobia too and that started hitting me and we were all afraid this was going to lead to a seizure. We had to all talk to one another so I could calm down.

We were offered a refund for the remainder of the time that we are staying at the hotel which is until 28 March which they said they would put back into the visa debit card I used. When I asked how long it would take to hit my account, the girl behind the reception desk said 30 days. WHAT AN OUTRAGE!!! They are fast to take the money out but not quick to put it back. I said how am I supposed to go to another hotel if I don't get the money for 30 days. That is after we are back in Australia. At the most it should be 24-48 hours which is the same information that a cousin of mine that lives in Uruguay told me.

Nice and clean hotel, beware of construction!

The hotel was very nice and modern and the room was clean and comfortable. WiFi worked great in our room, but we had no view since our room faced the courtyard and another building. There is a small rooftop pool and a nice small gym on the top floor. The location was great with several very good restaurants close by. The neighborhood felt safe and it was easy to catch a cab from the road in front of the hotel. There is a mall just a few blocks down and the waterfront (Rambla) is 10 minute walk away the same direction.

The timing of our trip was bad (November 2016) in a sense that there was very noisy construction going on on BOTH sides of the hotel. There was no sleeping after the construction workers started in the morning, usually at 7 or 8 AM. Luckily we are early risers and were ready to get going in the mornings anyway. Hopefully the construction will be completed soon since the hotel was otherwise nice and suited out needs perfectly.

Good, but not for allergics

It's a small and modern hotel with very friendly staff, which unfortunately at this moment suffers from two construction projects on each side of the building. It was very noisy, and we did not extend our stay because of this. But this is temporary. Another problem was that there is some kind of dust in the room, which I suspect is dust mites in the otherwise good bed/bed linen, which left both me and my girlfriend really allergic with stuffed noses and runny eyes. Could also be a hidden humidity problem. When we filled up the bathtub and let the water out later, water flooded up on the floor from the bathroom floor siphon (sorry for forgetting to mention this when we checked out). The heating system works well. Wi-fi was mostly okay, but nothing to write home about, a bit unstable. Staff was helpful resetting routers. The restaurant is good, but not a lot of choice.

Pit stop in Montevideo

Had one night in Montevideo, coming from Punta del Este. Booked the hotel in the car and had a great surprise. Modern, very comfortable, very well decorated hotel. Excellent bed. Price was great considering the upper level of the hotel. Good shopping mall 3 blocks away. I strongly recommend Vivaldi hotel when in Montevideo.

Can't beat the price!

We got this hotel for $49/night. Only stayed one night so cannot comment much on the services. The room was spacious except the bathroom could have been a little bigger. The bed was excellent!

There was construction noise at around 8 am which didn't bother us since we were already up.

Location was close to a few bus lines that gets you to the city center and old city. Bus ride was about $1.

Overall, a very comfortable stay.

Nice hotel in a nice quiet neighbourghood

Arrived late at night for a quick nap. The hotel was above my expectations. We booked a double room, but were allocated in a big room, with a double bed, and two extra beds (arranged for 4 ppl). Spacious room. It even had a complete kitchenette with a microwave oven and excellent air conditioning. The bath was well suited and comfortable, with plenty of towels.

Only two things to improve..... At 8 o'clock in morning very high noise because of construction building in the hotel.
Second, staff definitely improvebly ... 40 minutes to do the bill...the garage was a disorder and I had to move the carry on bags of the towels to be cleaned to park my car (obviously the staff did not help )

Luxurious style hotel. Looks brand new. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Rooms are very comfortable with premium bedding (memory foam pillows), also plates, silverware, coffee mugs. Hotel has a small swimming pool on the rooftop, we didn't use it since it was to windy. Great cafes and restaurants around the corner. Bus stop 1 min walk from hotel, so easy access to downtown. FREE computers in lobby for guests!

They helped us book ferry tickets to Montevideo and also called multiple places for dinner reservations (since many were closed for vacation during the holidays). Near the beach and nightlife, in a very safe neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel near the center of the city

This hotel was in a nice neighborhood near a park. It had a roof top gym and swimming pool. From the roof you can see the ocean in both directions. The rooms were also a good size with a fridge and a tea kettle and a good mattress. It seemed like a good place to catch a taxi but we had a rental car.

Lovely newly renovated hotel. My stay here was very comfortable and stress free. My room was incredibly spacious with premium bedding and a fully stocked mini bar. Good price for an ok nice and clean hotel. It was all quite standard, no particular charm. The cafe area had quite a cold atmosphere (and temperature), so no cosy area to sit in. But on the whole it was fine for a place to shower and sleep, and about a 20min walk to the coastal area. Otherwise, not sure what was in the area.

Great, brand new hotel

Great, brand new hotel. The room was clean and spacious, even if the bathroom was a bit cramped. Towels and bed linens were pristine and the housekeeping service was excellent. All of the above said, the #1 value of this hotel is its location - close to restaurants and coffee shops, a shopping mall, the beach and steps from bus stops to everywhere you may want to go in the city, even the airport. It was a great stay and I will definitely book it again.

Only complaint is that they were missing basic items (garbage cans, DND/makeup room signs for the door, umbrellas to borrow, etc. Would have also appreciated if the parking was free of charge.

Nice hotel with some a couple of drawbacks.

Modern hotel, brand new. Friendly and helpful hotel staff. But room did not have a chair nor desk, nor any trash bins in the room. They also have not laundry service (they offer to go to a laundry next door) and no iron + ironing board. At least they could have an iron to lend out. All of these points should not be hard to fix. Would make a great deal of a difference.
