I had a great stay at sleepy bear motel over the 4th of July weekend. The staff was all super helpful, being able to stay out of the hustle and bustle of downtown Gatlinburg with access to ride the free trolley to go downtown was amazing. Great restaurants you could walk to across the street was a awesome addition. The free breakfast served on the weekend was fantastic and well worth it. I loved how they kept the nostalgic feel of the motel rooms with updated beds, large tv, and ice cold air conditioning, etc. I will definitely be returning in the near future.

Easy trolley access to get to town or travel to the arts and craft community. Beautiful little patio by the creek running behind the rooms. Small family owned and operated establishment.

Definitely a hidden gem! I was amazed at the great reviews so I booked to see for myself and I was pleasantly surprised, the rooms are clean and nicely updated. The made to order breakfast was included in the price and was better than most meals you pay for at the big breakfast places. The pool was clean and readily available and access in and out is easy and hassle free, and the free trolley service has pick up and drop off right in front so no need to battle traffic and pay for parking in the crowded downtown. The attention to detail by the extremely helpful and friendly staff was undeniable.
This place really is throwback to the old family vacation style motels I remember in Gatlinburg as kid, and it made for a great memory inducing visit to old world smokey mountains charm. While some would consider it a basic and no frills place to stay, the price and hospitality make this a top notch experience.
Would definitely recommend and we plan to return here for out next trip.

Everything was great. Tvs are huge! Pool was nice. Being steps from the shuttle was amazing. It was a weekend, so it was a full motel, and our upstairs neighbors were loud & banging things and fighting til 2 am, and our next door neighbors had about 6 people in their room so definitely not quiet. But that in no way should reflect the hotel. It was very nice, and the food while we were there for breakfast was amazing!

Nicely renovated motel with updated rooms, beds, and bathrooms. Motel offers cook to order breakfast on weekends with stay, which is a very nice addition. Far enough away from the main drag for quiet, but walking distance with public shuttle stops nearby. I would stay there again in the future.

Our stay at Sleepy Bear was excellent! The room was clean, bed was very comfortable and the breakfast, homemade by Tony, was delicious. We enjoyed the balcony with the babbling brook as well.
Mike, at the front desk, was extremely friendly helpful! We would not hesitate to stay there again.

Great location in Gatlinburg at a great price. It was about what we expected for the price. Very clean except for the shower curtain along the bottom. Mini fridge and microwave were appreciated. It is an older property but some efforts have been taken to update it. A/C unit in our room looked like it could have been original, but worked as good or better than any modern unit.
Bathroom very small and lighting is mounted off to the side of the sink instead of over the mirror so not the best for applying makeup. No counter around the sink means trying to balance hair appliances and makeup on the rim of the sink. Cl Nice TV but we didn’t spend enough time in the room to take advantage of it. Three options for weekend breakfast. My daughter said the breakfast burrito was good but my scrambled eggs were over cooked. Pancakes were delicious!! Laundromat just up the road. We were vacationing on a budget and were thankful for this option. If you are just needing a place to sleep, don’t mind a room that looks dated with limited bathroom space and are looking for a good price this one fits the bill.

The staff was so kind and the property was charming. It’s a family owned hotel rather than a franchise. We enjoyed overlooking the little stream. The weekend food made to order was delicious. Great experience all around. Mamas chicken kitchen a few minutes away was a great spot for the whole family to eat.

We stayed for 4 nights. It’s an adorable motel in the river. The balcony with river view was the best in the morning. The breakfast cooked to order was absolutely top notch! This is a great self service motel. The rooms are updated and clean, the staff is friendly, the breakfast(weekends only)is cooked fresh and is good. However, they don't service your room. You are told at check in that they won't enter your room for anything except maintenance. You have to go to the lobby and ask for everything you need including ice/toilet paper. It did have a microwave and refrigerator. You have to ask for an iron. You aren't asked how many towels you'll need during your stay. You have to bring back the dirty ones and ask for new ones.This can be difficult because the lobby is only staffed late on the weekends.I went to ask for ice at 10:30pm and no one was available. I went to tell them the tv wasn't working around 8a and no one was available.I called the number on the door and had to leave a message. Also, this means that you have to take out the trash if you want it removed.No extra bags are provided. This is more like an Airbnb experience.You'll love it if you want to check in and see no one until you leave. You won't if you want your room serviced daily. The lack of service is a big thing for me. I personally don't go on vacation to work like I'm at home. I would definitely stay again if it was a stopover for the night.

We had a wonderful stay at Sleepy Bear Motel. If you're looking for a luxury resort, this isn't it—but if you want a clean, comfortable place with genuinely friendly people, it's hard to beat.

The staff was welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, and our room was spotless. We especially enjoyed the made-to-order breakfast offered on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It was a thoughtful touch that made our stay feel a little more special.

A heads-up for future guests: there isn't a coffee maker in the room, which may be important for early risers. However, the room does include a decent-sized mini fridge and a microwave, which were very convenient for snacks, drinks, and leftovers.

The motel has a simple, laid-back charm, and it's clear that the owners take pride in creating a positive experience for their guests. We'd happily stay here again on our next trip to Gatlinburg.

A very cute and simple motel that is conveniently located away from the busy area but just across the street from the free trolley so it was easily accessible. The weekend breakfast was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed sitting and watching the water off of our balcony and all of the fireflies in the evening.

Rooms are cozy and large TV. Clean. Not very large but for what you pay, they are really good.
Location of the motel is great! Close to Gatlinburg downtown and all the major attractions. Easy parking. Pizza, Icecream across the street.
ONe of the unique features of the restaurant is the breakfast. I believe it's only available over weekends.
BUT - it's freshly made/cooked in front of you. It's not unlimited but fresh and tasy. Gives you a tavern kind of feeling.
We enjoyed our stay.

I enjoyed my room immensely The bed was so comfortable felt like sleeping like on a cloud. I really enjoyed the patio where you could sit and listen to the creek and look at the wildlife. The shower was a good spray I also took a bath when I first got there with some Epsom salts so I enjoyed the fact I could do both. I didn't take advantage of the coffee at 8:30 but right across the street there was coffee at 7:00 in the morning also a very nice restaurant kitty cornered from the place The proprietor was conscientious and helpful and very welcoming excellent customer service

I enjoyed my stay a lot. The room was clean and it was very quiet. I was in the room downstairs but did not hear any footsteps or noise from upstairs, or next door. I am a very light sleeper so having a quiet room was important to me. Water pressure was good, staff was helpful and the breakfast was excellent. I would definitely stay again!

Everything about this place is wonderful! The staff (Mike & Antonio) were so kind and helpful - the complimentary breakfast on Saturday & Sunday is off the charts, and you’re well located to the trolley stop, an ice cream shop, and a cute tapas bar/restaurant. This place was affordable, updated and everything you could ask for in a stay. I was in room 106 and opened the door up every morning to a patio by the river where we read our morning books and enjoyed a cuppa before setting out on some hikes. Perfectly located to some non-touristy hikes and a beautiful scenic drive. We will 100% be back - thank you for everything Mike & co!

Excellent value, clean comfortable rooms. Best breakfast idea, Tony cooked one of 3 choices (that you could customize) fresh and fast. Great coffee. Front desk people were wonderful and welcoming. Only downside is the road is a direct route from the ambulance or fire station so a there were sirens but if you're used to city living you won't notice. I didn't use the pool but it was clean and looked inviting. The balcony over the brook is lovely too.

Friendly staff, Clean room. Renovated older hotel. No one stays at the desk consistently. They get there around 8:40 am and leave by 5:30 pm. You have to get your ice when they are in the office. Never did catch them. Not a walkable distance to the strip. Stream was pretty behind the hotel but grass was too high to get close to it to enjoy.

I had a very enjoyable stay at Sleepy Bear last week. I was there for a week long motorcycle tour of the area. I was able to park my bike outside my ground floor room. The room was spacious and clean. HVAC worked fine and the beds are comfortable. Large, newer, flat screen tv was nice. After a long day of riding I was able to sit on the back porch of the room and relax to a gentle rolling stream right behind the motel. The folks that run and staff Sleepy Bear are all 100% kind and helpful. Do not miss the free, made to order breakfast on Saturday. I delayed the start of my return trip so I could enjoy that breakfast and I'm glad I did. One other thing, although it was too cold to enjoy, the pool was large and was very well kept.

The room was clean and the balcony was clean. The beds were comfortable plenty of good pillow choices, medium and firm on the bed. There are no dressers, and not a table in the room of which would be a little better for putting a few items out. Table would be good for relaxing, eating in room and playing a card game. Small side table on the balcony is recommended no where to place a cup of coffee when enjoying the scenery. Breakfast is only on weekends so keep that in mind but very good. Felt safe not noisy away from the crowd. Shuttle stop across the street for going into town and in front of the hotel for return convenience. No coffee have to go out in the morning if an early bird like me, no coffee pot in the room. Overall enjoyed our stay

A simple clean motel. I believe we got more than we payed for! The breakfast was made to order and delicious. The room was a simple no frills but the king size bed was very comfortable and the TV was bigger than the room 😁 We booked the room so we could be close enough to the creek to hear and that too did not disappoint. The only thing I wish the room had was a small bistro table. The place is away from the busy town making it very quiet to sit on the porch. An added plus we were unaware of is the free shuttle to gatlinburg down town was right at our hotel and free. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you!

Rooms are remodeled and clean. It an older hotel so has its quirks. Water temperature fluxes if others are using it. Room are thin so if you have a noisy room next door you won’t sleep. Road noise is very loud. The guy checking in is very nice.
