Disappointing Stay – Not Worth the Price

We stayed at Hotel Gaston for 5 nights, and unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations.

First, housekeeping is not automatic—you have to request it. We asked once during our stay, and they didn’t come. We had to follow up two more times before the room was finally cleaned. Even then, the service was minimal: they only replaced the towels and emptied the trash. No bed-making, no bathroom cleaning.

The breakfast is very basic and repetitive—it felt like the same items were just recycled every day with no variety or freshness.

The hotel also had an unpleasant smell on some days when we returned, making it feel far from welcoming. On top of that, you’re required to leave your room key at reception every time you leave, which feels outdated and inconvenient.

The room itself is extremely small—barely enough space for one person, let alone two. You constantly bump into the TV, and the bed isn’t suitable for taller guests (my legs were hanging off the edge). It’s not a good option for couples or even two friends. There’s also no fridge, no iron, and no basic amenities you’d expect for the price.

The only good thing about the hotel is its location—the area around it is nice and convenient. But overall, for the price we paid, we could’ve booked something much better.

Affordable but Basic

Rooms are very small, hardly even room to store luggage. Metro Station is a 10 minute walk and a Carrefour grocery store is next to the station. Breakfast is basic continental fare. The hotel room doors use actual metals keys which you need to return to the front desk every time you leave the hotel. The internet works unless it rains a great deal and starts to flood. Then it goes off and the elevator stops working. AC is good. No refrigerator in room. No access to ice.

Although the rooms were smaller than we were used to everything was super clean and in a really nice area and easily accessible to restaurants and everything you need. It was nice to be away from any major attractions and on a quiet street so we could sleep. Everyone at the front desk was absolutely amazing and lovely and super accommodating and helped us arrange taxis and whatever else we needed.

This was my first time in Paris and this hotel is in a great area. Pretty quiet, not very busy or touristy. Short walk to a bus stop and the metro. Cafes near by. The staff was really nice and super helpful they spoke English. The beds were comfortable and clean. Housekeeping came every afternoon and replaced everything. Bathroom is very small and water gets everywhere on the floor because there is only one glass panel. The water was nice and hot which I need after being out all day. Honestly for the price I would stay again. Thank you for making my first experience in Paris a good one 💕

The best thing about the hotel was the location. Only a pleasant 15 mins walk from the Champs Elysees. There was a great patisserie just over the road and a great Italian restaurant close by. The hotel is in a safe area.
The hotel staff were friendly. The room was ok but pretty basic and there was no kettle and tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
We didn’t get any great nights sleep on our 3 nights as we were kept awake with the traffic going past during the night and there was quite a bit of noise from other guests using their bathrooms.

Hotel was conveniently located in a quiet and elegant residential neighborhood yet easily connected through public transportation to all of Paris. I enjoyed walking and having breakfast at the nearby Grenier de Pain as well as walking a bit further to reach a diversity of enjoyable bistro and brasserie for dinners. The room itself was compact yet very clean, comfortable and efficient. comfortable bed too.

Ticking Boxes!

Fabulously friendly and super helpful reception personnel are always to hand. The hotel is conveniently situated within walking distance of metro stations. The bedroom and bathroom provided the necessary comfort for a single visitor.
A good selection of cafés and restaurants are a stone’s throw away. The surrounding area is very quiet and residential. To sum up, the Hotel Gaston is spot on for a short stay in an exceptional city!

This was our first time in Paris so we did not know what to expect, but we definitely enjoyed our time here. We parked in a garage they partner with about two blocks away, and the hotel itself is located in a decently quiet area that's about a 10 minute walk to the subway station. The room was a little small, but it got the job done and we still had a fantastic time on our trip.

Good value for money

We (my mum, myself and my 8 year old daughter) stayed here for a weekend of sightseeing so didnt use any of the amenities. We had a triple room on the ground floor which was slightly noisy but very clean and a decent size for the 3 of us. The man on reception was friendly and helpful. Nice, safe area to walk around late at night.

The staff were lovely and always went above and beyond for us. The rooms were nice and the beds were comfy. Had every essential although didn’t have a kettle in the rooms but provided hot water with the coffee machine. The hotel itself is only about a 30 min walk from the arc de triomphe or a 10 min walk from the metro which was so convenient for us. There were lots of delicious bakeries around the hotel too! Staff were also very helpful with directions to Disneyland and provided us with maps of the city.

I loved the location of the hotel as it is situated in a nice, quite and friendly area.

The staff were very nice and friendly and we were able to communicate with all of them in both Spanish and English.

The room was clean at all times as their cleaner cleans it every day and their prices per night are quite good and worth it.

Overall, I definitely recommend you to stay at this lovely hotel.

A funky arty hotel. Spotlessly clean. Small but perfectly formed rooms. Every you need at your finger tips and the most comfortable beds. Breakfast is available and us good. Nicely situated, about 15/20 minute walk to Arch Triumph. Very happy we stayed here.

Hip Hang at City’s edge

First trip to Paris. The Gaston is a comfy place. Hip, decent bFast, great staff. 10+ min walk to Metro, so a bit far but a bustling walk full of Parisian culture. 30 + min to get to places like Louvre, Tour d’Effiel etc NW side of the City, 40 min drive to Orly. Do NOT book their shuttle service, not reliable. Everything else about hotel is good. Rooms small, but good beds and GREAT AC!

Exactly what you want in Paris

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, the hotel itself had fun decor, our room had a gorgeous view, the shower/tub had endless hot water (great for relaxing after all the walking we did), then to complete the wonderful experience, we got enjoy our comfy robes and slippers and eat some delicious pillow treats. This hotel made our last day in Paris unforgettable.

Great location. Metro is a kind of far, but you can get the bus that will take you to the Opera, or Gare St Lazare. There you can get the metro to where ever you need to go.

Got there, their bi lingual staff were great and friendly, Room was clean, comfy, lovely design, Only down sides was the long trek to get to the arc de triumph, around 30 minutes walk, and the shower head attachment where it holds it high not working, so me and my SO had to hold it for eachother, But still, was a very pleasant stay and I’d gladly do it again

Very friendly staff. They helped us with directions multiple times. Specially the front desk lady that was always in the morning shift. She spoke Spanish, English, and French. The hotel is a little far from main attractions, however; metro and bus are very near the hotel. Breakfast was great too.

Good boutique hotel, could do with a freshen up, staff helpful & room/bed ok, tiny bathroom with water from shower flooding floor. I looked for hotel next to champs elysees with Gaston being recommended, it is more than a few steps as advertised & arc de triumph 30min walk. Would recommend hotel but not for location

Nice place, some staff was friendly and others not. Besides that breakfast buffet was not always refilled and even the staff told us that the food was finished 1.5h before the time to close the "buffet " and they said when "when is gone ia gone" another lady got angry and they went to buy more food... very weird and mainly bad customer service from the manager, besides that the rest was ok, the room had nothing to set your clothes, the area is quite nice and I got a room with great view and a splashing out water toilet. I did no complaint about the toilet because I loved the view

Breakfast was disappointing. The croissants were stale (old) not fresh. Cheese was subpar. Lots of packaged items. No espresso pods. Room was very small. Elevator did not always work. Did not change sheets during our 4 day stay.

Great hotel in quite corner of the city, away from crowds and just walking distance to Arc de Triomphe, Champs-Élysées. Rooms are small - just like everything in " the old continent", but very clean and well maintained. Good breakfast served daily from 7am - 10am. Exceptional staff , always ready to help with any concerns. Highly recommended, will stay again.

Quiet, Lovely little hotel

Tucked away near the arc de triumphe this little gem of a hotel has everything you need. Close to two different metro stops its easy to get to, and easy to see Paris.

The rooms, while small, are clean, and have everything you need in them.

The staff are friendly and accomodating.

The hotel is situated in a nice neighborhood with a variety of businesses nearby. Explore the area and you will find nice bakeries, restaurants and markets. The staff was helpful and accomaditing to anything we asked for. The continental breakfast was great with fresh fruit and pastries brought in daily. They have some other items that you can purchase if you get hungry or thirsty such as wine, sodas, water and some light snacks. We visited a market nearby and got some wine, cheese and light snacks. Note there is no refrigerator in the room or ice machine in the building. The rooms are small so be prepared for that. We figured we would be spending more time out in the city than in our room so we were fine with that. The room is clean and the bathroom is small as well but clean and modern. The beds were comfortable and you will be living out of your suitcase since there are no drawers or closet except for some limited hangers and rack. The elevator was not working for the first couple of days so that was a haste getting our luggage upstairs. The elevstor was fixed though while we were there though. Hallways are narrow and be prepare for some street traffic noise and foot traffic noise in the evenings and early mornings. Overall it was a pleasant stay and it’s definitely a good deal for your money. If you want the comfort and size of an American hotel then go to central Paris and be prepared to pay the price for that. If not then this hotel is a great choice.

Nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood

My hotel room was roomy and clean. The staff was very helpful. It is convenient to Metro and restaurants. It was really nice to take a walk to the Arc de Triomphe, then though the Champs Elysees Ave to the Concorde Square.
