No water in pool and construction outside of room. Drove hours for a decent hotel with an indoor pool and there wasnt one when we got there. Asked for a refund within 1 hour of check in and was refused. Desk lied to booking agent. The whole experience was terrible. Check out is at 11am, was locked out of my room at 9:45am

There are not great affordable options in New London. This hotel was conveniently located but still being renovated. The rooms had 2 full size beds -not 2 queens- which was a bit challenging for my family (we are all over 6 foot tall).

There was what looked like blood on the wall in the room. The rug had a chunk cut out of it. Everything looks like it was last updated 40 years ago. The breakfast was cold and soggy. But the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.

I like the atmosphere from when you walk in it's clean and quiet.the staff is amazing I especially love sweeny from the front desk always helpful and informative and ALWAYS friendly!! The whole staff is amazing they definitely make my stays special they always recognize me and know my name which is welcoming. The room is always clean and have many options available we say in a room with accommodations of a stove full fridge, dish washer and a kitchen counter so we can cook right here. They have a pool which is always great for the kiddos and in the am everyday they serve a complimentary breakfast which is always fresh and hot and clean as well as maintained...they serve everything from cereal to waffles as well as danishes eggs and sausage!! And of course HOT COFFEE!! Which is available all day at the lobby and hey there is even a little store for late nite snacking if need be!! I only stay here when in town I don't even look anywhere else and I will continue to come back every time as i am in town alot!! Keep up the great work we really appreciate the hospitality one of if not the best in the area in my book!! Thank you again

I really enjoyed my stay here. It's conveniently located near the casino and the event I was attending at Strange Brew Pub. The food inside the restaurant was very good too. If you like Indian cuisine, I highly recommend. I believe there's also a pizza place across the way. Also, they have a HOT complimentary breakfast was good as well. Coffee was nicely brewed as well. For the price, you really can't beat this place. There's also an Ollie's nearby. It's one of my favorite stores so it makes me partial.

The front desk receptionist (both the check-in and checkout) were super friendly and helpful. That’s about it. The problem there is the people who stays looks like permanent guesses from DSS and the loud noise were at all times specially at 1,2 and 3 in the morning, doors were shut, screaming running in the hallway, kids up at that time too. I felt like my car would be stolen in any minute as guys were setting in the work van in the parking lot for hours. The mattress needs to be changed as soon as u lay down has no support, ended waking up with back pain and I had never have a full electric stove next to my bed. The hotel needs to be renovated for the price they charge and they need to have policies for noises. It felt like I was staying in section 8 or the projects.

Beds were reserved as queen then once checked in we were told they dont have queen only king or double. There were drunk people outside all night screaming and using foul language right by my window — I felt completely unsafe, especially with my young children. The windows open all the way, which is dangerous. In the morning, there was dog poop right outside in the whole ways that we stepped on. The entire place smells like mold and smoke, and it’s very dirty and poorly maintained. The pool was also filthy and clearly not cleaned. The room was dirty, my sister's room smelled like someone had urinated in the A/C unit that blew it all over the room (she had to be moved to a new room it was so bad). My room had a cockroach and blood (an alarming amount of it, it did not look like a small cut worth) on the box spring. We told the staff and they were polite, but no response other than kind words.

I must say the mngmt team was outstanding, very pleasant and kind. The facility was very under staffed. The room was clean appearance wise, but the room smelled of steal cigarette smoke and the shower head was coming from the wall. The parking lot in the back appeared to have abandoned vehicles. The most alarming is that the facility was in lack of security, which was a very big concern of mine. The building I stayed in, the entrance door was broken and could not be secured. This led to anybody walking around the building. Very unsettling. There were transients walking the grounds and also inside corridors of the building I was staying in. I ran into a woman who was living by far an undesirable life, who was homeless, pulling “tricks” for money, while reporting to men who were staying at this location. So sad. I went on to buying her something to eat from the hotel restaurant, giving her $20 and also charging her dead phone at the front desk, because of the Christian I am. The owners of this facility must be aware of this as I was only there one night and seeing this all take place. Overall this was a very unsafe facility and many illegal thing taking place here. I would not suggest any families with children stay at this location. As I am going to inform the police, now that I left this location, all that I saw.

We reserved a 2-Queen room but was given a King bed room. There was horrible pot smoke odor in hallway just 10 doors down from front desk. Security side door was propped open with a rock late at night. Ice machine had filthy paper towels in it and was not working. Room was cramped with a full size fridge, sink, oven, dishwasher. Maybe that would be great for a traveling tradesman but we were there one night while in vacation. Breakfast was horrible as well. We DID NOT enjoy our stay at Regency Inn & Suites!

NO INTERNET SERVICE! STAY AWAY!

Dont stay there! Its awful! Unfriendly staff! NO INTERNET SERVICE! YOU CAN ONLY USE THEIR WIFI! We were unable to get or make calls unless outside of the hotel, only the back of hotel, no services at all out front! I questioned the staff and was sold their internet was encrypted so that why you get no service, to please use the wifi, which isn't secure, only locked for customers. We requested 2 queens, got a room with double beds. When they cleaned the room they turn off the refrigerator, which may be normal, but we were never told to turn it on, the knob is in the back which we couldn't locate, not realizing it was off because it was cool when we checked in, we lost food and drinks that we put in the fridge. I spoke to several staff members about the no cell service, i was told, your cell data may work on the other side of building, offered to move our room, relocate us, our you kidding me? It was so bad we had to leave the hotel, i paid for 2 nights, they refused to give me a refund for the second night! Worst hotel experience ever! Hotels.com did fight for me and my refund, which was fantastic, but they were also refused to give a refund to me.

Do Not Stay Here!!

Do not stay here if you value your own and/or family's health & stafety. I booked this hotel last night while driving late at night. The room matches the pictures, the issue is what the pictures cannot show. My husband & I carried our sleeping children to the room. The room had the strongest mold smell I have ever experienced in my life. It was also easily 90F and just had a heaviness to the air. Vwe turned on the AC only to seem to have the air get a worse smell. It took our breath away. My husband noticed hairs on the bed, albeit longer hairs. We knew this was a two star hotel however the room wasn't fit for anyone to stay. It was so bad we carried our children back to the car and drove home. We feared what rashes or respiratory issues we all could get. The front desk offered another room however the condition of the hotel offered no hope any room would be better. This place needs a visit/review by state and local authorities perhaps with that it may come up to code. The place isn't fit for anyone to stay. The room was in the 400s upstairs zone.

The Clarion name is on the back of the hotel and Regency is on the front of the hotel. When you use the gps and arrive at the hotel you'll think your at the wrong hotel, the color of the hotel is different from the color on the internet.The receptionist didn't have proper customer service skills. The hallway was dirty and cold. The room smelled like cigarette smoke but it clearly states it's a \"smoke free\" property. The people that was in the room across from us was very noisy they were letting the door slam, going in and out of their room all time of night, talking loud. The whole place was very outdated and run down. I honestly thought the place was abandoned and thought the website just hadn't been updated when it accepted our reservation! There was a rundown closed up restaurant as you pull in the entrance. The illuminated sign along the highway had broken and fallen out. The landscaping was all overgrown with weeds.
The lobby area wasn't bad looking and the staff were friendly enough. The room wasn't too bad...I didn't notice anything dirty about it...it just could use a lot of updating.
A lot of the amenities were out of order....the guest laundry, the ice machine, the gym. The hallways were rather dark and some of the light fixtures flickered on and off.
The breakfast was nothing great, but it was enough to fill you up for a few hours. They do have a bar/restaurant onsite, but I didn't see any customers in there during our entire stay. It seems more like a place for the family that owns the place to hang out with each other.
Maybe they're trying to fix the place up. They were painting the exterior when we were there. For some reason they were working at night. When I looked out the curtains, there was someone literally 2 feet outside the window painting! They were also using loud equipment well after 10pm!
I go to CT once a year and was always curious about this place because of the waterfront photos. That area is all overgrown now and a highway is right there about where the photo was taken from.

Could not see out the old windows, burn marks on the furniture and the door handle lock didn't lock. But the bed was comfortable and Ihand no hallway noise. My shower had mold/mildew around the entire shower. It might have been in the grout but should be removed and replaced. The wall next to the shower was falling apart from where it has water damage. Had I been here alone I would NOT have felt safe. The door entering the room area was open to anyone off the streets to come in. There was a card reader there but it stood open and did not lock. Even the front check in area was not secure. No way would I stay here again.

This was awful! 1st room tv not working, pool machine noise. 2nd romm was occupied already. 3 rd room smelled of mens cheap aftershave. Had to wait an hour for the pool due to adding chemicals (4pm pool opens at 8 am). Indoor pool cold as the ocean. Fans running due to chlorine smell. This was the purpose of the booking to swim and relax. This down right terrible.,if husband didnt talk me down i would have made a sceen. I should get a full refund!

Well let’s see where to start. We arrived and the guy behind the desk tells us we can’t have the king bed that we reserved they gave it to somebody else because we showed up to late but we had called ahead of time and said we’d be later than our check in the lady said not a problem. Then he gives us a room with two of the most uncomfortable beds ever and my bed had a bug on the pillow. The room itself felt dirty. But back to the guy at the front he yelled at me like straight yelled at me and told us he doesn’t need our money we don’t have to stay there all because I had mentioned to my boyfriend about the reviews I had read once he said the things about the room to us. Then our key card didn’t work and he then had to switch us completely to a different room just because the key card didn’t work. The hotel smells like smoke terribly. And we were woken up to a man power washing right outside of our hotel room window it was loud AF. We want our money back that was absolutely disgusting all around including the staff.

Did not ask for a efficiency unit (which they squeezed into a regular room), with full size fridge, stove, etc. Pillows were half size square pillows, which I have never seen in a hotel, and only 4 (equivalent of 2 standard). When we ask for additional, they said housekeeping was closed. Next day when we ask for additional, we were told yes, they never arrived. Very unprofessional staff and VERY CASUAL appearance. Over-all, price probably fit the venue. I worked in this hotel 40 years ago, it has gone WAAAAYYYY down hill.

LOCATION:
The Clarion Inn is conveniently located near a ShopRite and a Staples, and two other hotels. It is also near New London Train Station & Ferry terminal.

EXTERIOR:
The exterior doors and painting could be much-improved. The doors are sometimes showing wear-and-tear of door latches, and do not have \"Accessibility Buttons\" which would help make accessing the doors easier for the elderly or those with \"assistive transport devices\" (wheelchairs & 2 wheeled electric scooters & bicycles). The parking lot could also be improved, by removing cracks in asphalt where grass grows through.

INTERIORS & ROOMS:
Aside from the broken guest laundry in the 600 wing, the interior hallways seem well-maintained. There was a leak of some sort near the ice machine by room 313, that seemed to leak into the carpet of the interior, which needs repair.

Room I was in, was spacious, had infrared stove and a high-powered microwave (1580 Watt), and full-sized refrigerator-&-freezer, hair dryer and digital air conditioner, with \"Dry\" setting.

SERVICE:
There were service problems, encountered with many staff, except for one, who seemed to be of northern European descent. Politeness of front desk staff needs some improvement, and food services (who seemed mostly hispanic) did not seem knowledgeable about breakfast area resupply.

English was a second language for many hotel staff, in August 2024, so be prepared to communicate in English, with hand gestures, to get your meaning across.

LOCATION:

The Clarion Inn is near a shopping center called the New London Mall, which has an urgent care clinic, a ShopRite grocery store, and a Guitar Center. It is also near a Staples, where one can do Amazon returns.

The New London Train Station & Ferry station are also nearby, and Amtrak and CT Rail trains pick-up and drop-off at the train station.

EXTERIOR:
The parking lot could be improved, as there are a lot of cracks with grass growing through them. There are 2 entrances: one from N Frontage Road, and one on Bayonet Street.

Doors into the building have some damaged locks, and can be improved by adding \"Assistive Transport\" buttons for wheelchair and electric bike-or-scooter access.

The exterior of the buildings need to be better painted, especially on the North Frontage Road side.

INTERIOR:
The Clarion Inn is 3 wings, connected by the lobby and dining area. The 3 wings are not all at the same elevation, and there are no elevators, so if you have an assistive transport device (electric scooter or wheelchair), it is better to request a room in the 300 wing, which is on the ground floor, because that wing connects to the front desk and breakfast area by an interior ramp. The 100 wing is also possible, if you can make it up 3-or-4 steps.
- It would be helpful if the front desk had a ramp it could place along those steps to the 100 wing.

In August 2024, there was a pool, but no lifeguard, and a non-functioning laundry.

Smoky smelling in a non-smoking room. Another person had to leave because they couldn’t handle it. I was forced to say because of a prior engagement or else I would’ve left. Everything was old. They did appear to be trying to paint the outside, but needed to work on the inside. People were OK. Won’t go back ever.

Show up to the Clarion only to be surprised. Nothing like the photos and room not as expected, the smell had me with a headache. Not even sure why Expedia would even recommend this place. You can smell the cigarette Oder in the room. I should had read the reviews before booking. But was a last minute thing .

Stores and supermarkets close by makes it a convenient location. The property is runned down in the outside, and the room we got was nothing like the one in the picts, until I went to the counter and ask for the room I paid for. Buffet breakfast was the same everyday, and one of the days I stayed there was no breakfast at all.

The room was filthy. It smelled like urine and there were ants crawling around the bathroom. The walls were grimy. When the air conditioner did trigger on...which was rare...it rattled so loudly it woke us up.The fridge was ancient and rusty. The mattresses both sagged. The tv was tiny. The hallways were dark and dingy and hadnt been vacuumed in a long time. Cracked cement and walkways from parking lot to entrance. No automatic doors so difficult to maneuver suitcase and opening the door. We checked in around 11 pm and it took the guy forever to find us an accessible room like we had reserved and paid for. There is no elevator. Filthy disgusting hotel and i couldnt leave fast enough this morning.

The concierge was very un professional. He was half sleep when he finally greeted us after waiting in the front for 5 minutes. He gave me a room that smelled like a carton of cigarettes. I couldn’t stay in there. The ice machine was broken,vending machine was broken,side door was broken. Felt unsafe.

The hotel staff was not friendly, the hotel was completely run down and in dire need of upkeep and repairs. Although the room appeared to be clean, there was a horrible oder in the room. It smelled like ammonia, but we aren't sure what the smell actually was or what caused it. Thank goodness I always travel with a bottle of Poopourri. I would imagine the smell had something to do with the dampness of the room. I would not walk on the carpet because it felt damp as did the bedding. I will not stay in this location again and would not recommend it.

The room itself was average and clean; however, the property was a bit of a mess. The lawn was overgrown, there was trash all through the grass, there was only one ice machine on the opposite end of the property, the lights in the pool would not turn on, the hallway lights were dim if working at all. The building was in the midst of being painted so there was paper/trash around the building, and the building was not secure (no key access at side doors). There was also no elevator, and laundry was not in service. The breakfast was average and the staff was polite, but the overall stay was disappointing.

When we arrived, They did not have the king bed that we booked. There was no discount or apology for the issue. On our way to the room there was a large planting indoors with dead plants and trash in it. Our room was Damp and had a horrible smell that you could taste! We were shown a second room that Smelt like an ash tray. The employee that showed us the room said they had to kick people out the night before for smoking in the room! We declined to stay there

The hotel was in need of repairs. There was no security to the outer door which did not lock. The gym advertised was not open and door or security permanently inoperable. Light wise the pool lights were off and no way to enter. Shower needs holders for soap or liquid dispensers. Staff in evening not readily available perhaps only one on call. Had to wait and find them.
